I love this nursery. It's on the smaller side, but their selection is pretty good, and the staff is knowledgeable. I was told most of their plants are locally grown, so they thrive in SF's climate. It's become my go-to spot, and I definitely recommend it.

I've always loved having a few plants in my house. In fact, I've got a ton of plants in my house. There are a few remarkable nurseries in the city. Clement nursery is one of the best. Not only do they have an amazing selection of plants, they have an amazing selection of pots. They can even drill that pot so that you can hang it. I found that the prices are always fair for both plants and pots. It's my new favorite nursery in the city. Need a great housewarming gift?

Amazing selection of plants, loads of succulents, indoor and outdoor plants, and some citrus. Even little trees that are potted that would be great for a Christmas tree. We got one to replant come Spring. Very helpful people working there. Prices are pretty good too. Will return. Totally awesome

Beautiful nursery with a wide selection of plants and helpful staff. I brought my fiddle leaf fig, thinking I needed to repot it, but Zack drilled a drainage hole in the pot and saved me the trouble. He offered care tips, trimmed the leaves, added extra soil, and helped carry the plant to my car and secure it for transport. I was pleasantly surprised that I was only charged for the drainage tray. Highly recommend if you're looking for new plants or expert plant care!

I adore the local little spot. The staff are all so kind and helpful. I love seeing Opal, the sweet old dog that comes in with the owner. The indoor pot selection is beautiful and o really appreciate that they'll help you drill hole in pots and pot your selected plants in a beautiful way (tip the staff for their help!). This place is so peaceful to visit and has become one of my favorite neighborhood businesses to browse and shop at. Go support them!

A gem for plant lovers in SF! I've been going to Clement Nursery for over 10 years, and love that it feels rooted in the neighborhood community. I've learned so much about plant caretaking through my interactions with the staff, and have slowly filled my home with many beautiful indoor plants (including this amazing hoya that blooms several times a year!). The plants are priced fairly and in my experience, lower than many other nurseries in the city. Spending time exploring the shop is always a delight, including conversations with the friendly, knowledgable folks who work there.

This place feels like an oasis in the city! All the people working were super helpful and friendly! There is also a dog just chilling in the sun! I spotted a new philodendron that looked perfect for my bathroom, and the staff was super helpful with finding me a parlor palm which I had been wanting. The speciality philodendron wasn't cheap($50 but that's market value), but everything else was reasonably priced. Definitely will make the trek back here since shopping here was a good experience! They even taped together some cardboard boxes so it would be easier to walk back to my apartment.

While I've barely managed to keep the 2 plants I have alive, a few more visits to this place and I'll be a full-fledged plant lady. I walked past this shop countless times but never ventured in until one lucky day when I caught a glimpse of the gardens. It was a sunny day with more crowds out than usual and people were going in and out of the gate, allowing for a peak of the beatiful gardens. I had to see them up close. The outdoor area is nicely decorated with lots of eclectic decor, including a vintage VW van. The gardens go back further than you would expect, leading to a peaceful courtyard with fountains and wind chimes. It's the kind of place you want to sit with a book and a cup of coffee. The inside is just as nice, albeit slightly cramped. There's unique vegetation from floor to ceiling, some of which I had never even seen before. They have planters for days. You can find everything from your most basic terracotta pot to handmade pieces the cashier informed me are from the pottery shop in the neighborhood. The friendly shop pit bull makes this place even better. So go, destress in the courtyard for a minute, check out the van, say hi to the pit bull, and bring home a nice plant.

I was having lunch with a friend who mentioned wanting to buy a whale fin snake plant. Well, then I went into a spiral of looking for one in San Francisco. If you don't know, it's virtually impossible. After calling about a dozen nurseries, I called Clement Nursery. I was told that they didn't have one either.....until another coworker overheard the conversation and said that he had one that he had propagated at home that he was willing to sell to me. With that said, I rushed over the next day and got myself a Whale Fin! I was so ecstatic! Thanks, Dan! I have since come back multiple times to buy more plants from here and they are always so helpful. But not only that, they make sure that you have your plant repotted to a new one or they make sure you have the proper drainage. It's great! I especially love coming here for their small 4" nursery plants because I love the challenge of growing everything myself to a larger plant. So far I've bought a Cebu Blue Pothos, Hoya Carnosa Compacta Veregata (variegated Hindu Rope), and various other pothos and philodendron for a very fair price.

Obsessed with going here! It's definitely an oasis. The music, the beautiful plants, & best of all I learn something new every time I'm there! These guys at Clement Nursery are very knowledgeable and super friendly. Great selection! I seriously never leave without an air plant & other plants! The ceramic pots they sell are gorgeous too! Every time I come in the staff are so helpful and knowledgeable. I walked over on Saturday to ask some questions about my sick plant (after watching a million videos on YouTube trying to diagnose). I showed the staff member a photo and she recommended that I bring it in. My husband drove the plant over and the staff member took a look at it and told me that it needed to be repotted. She helped me pick out the right new pot and then repotted it for me! She even helped me add some supports and talked me through nursing it back to health. It saved me so much hassle. I didn't have to lug a bunch of soil home and make a huge mess in my apt or driveway. The experience was just lovely- it truly put me in a good mood all day! read more

This was the perfect place to go for a beginner Gardner like myself! The two guys working at the store went out of their way to help me find the right products. They also gave me an extensive explanation of the right conditions I would need to successfully start the vegetable garden. I left enthusiastic about planting. I was only there for vegetable plants, but the outside had a huge selection of succulents as well. read more

Heartbroken because I couldn't leave Clement Nursery with more plants. I just don't have enough space in my place for more plants, but this nursery certainly owns an eclectic and wide variety of plants, flowers, and trees. When walking around, I noticed how in great shape every plant was in; they were all acclimated and living happily in each specific zone to their sun needs. My friends and I stumbled upon this nursery when we were walking to Bubblecup. Little did we know that we would find a gem. Prices are average, but the selections are great. Inside, there are planters and pots that you can buy, as well as soil. The owner was friendly and knowledgeable; he also had a doggie who got to roam around freely to greet guests. There is also a small bathroom in the back..just ask. I will be back again! Just need to find some more space in my room for some more plants. read more

We live in the neighborhood & my kid goes to school nearby. We usually walk on in side but today we were getting out of the sun & as we walked by using a stroller with my toddler on a scooter next to me (on left of stroller). The owner or employees dog in the photos of reviews had to be restrained & lurched/growled at us from less than 1-2 feet away. Had my toddler been on right side who knows what could have happened. When I said it he dog needs to muzzled (because truly this is a danger to the neighbors to have a dog that cannot tolerate a stroller), the owner told me I should put a muzzle on myself. Sooooo there are your friendly neighborhood business owners right there. I'll gladly change my shopping to sloat to avoid this unprofessional & rude human and dog. read more

This is a great place to find houseplants. David not only helped me pick out a magnificent plant and pot, he also potted it for me and added some wood chips on top that make it look great and also will apparently feed the plant with nutrients/nitrates that will help the leaves stay nice and green. To top it all off he even carried it out to my car which was parked directly out front. Thanks for everything David, I appreciated the great service, and the plant looks great in my apartment! read more

This place is wonderful. There is a large selection of both indoor and outdoor plants and plenty of cute plant pots. If you buy a plant and pot here, they will pot your plant for you at no additional charge!! So convenient because you don't have to go through the hassle of buying soil in the city. Also a great option if you want to give a potted plant as a gif David helped us pick out plants and pots today and was extremely helpful and nice. We will come back for all our future plant purchases! read more

Without a doubt, this is the best nursery I have ever visited. You can tell that everyone working here, from owner to employee, is committed to providing an exceptional experience. I've shopped here at least 20 times and leave each time blown away by the consistency in quality and care. I learn a lot every time too! The plants are beautiful, the staff is kind and not the least bit pressuring and the environment is the best. In an ideal world, I'd setup a desk in the garden and would work from here. It's that relaxing. I live 1.5 blocks away from another nursery in Inner Richmond and drive out of my way to Clement Nursery to do my plant shopping. That should say it all about how much I value the experience at Clement. read more

The friendliest and most helpful nursery in the Bay Area by far. In spite of it's seemingly small size; I have repeatedly found plants that I was looking for here, that the other nurseries didn't carry. I would recommend always starting with Clement Nursey first. read more

BEST NURSERY IN SF. Hands down, best experience I could have asked for! I was looking for a Valentines gift for my significant other and had visited two separate places before finding Clement Nursery and their fantastic team. David saw that I was browsing and had not really found anything so he stepped in to help understand what I was looking for. We discussed my ideas, what my gf liked, and even what her apartment looked like to find the right gift. I left with a beautiful white bowl with a cactus and 3 succulents inside. He potted the plants and even threw in an extra succulent for free to help even the ratio! Talk about an amazing experience. I've already referred my roommates and won't go to another nursery ever again! Thanks David - by the way, she loved it! read more

This place is really great. The owner (and his sweet dog) are very friendly. He gave me great advice on setting up my first terrarium, directed me to which variety of thyme and sage might best best for me, and helped me figure out why my African Violet's have stopped blooming. Beware, Clement Nursery has something for everyone and it's hard not to walk out with 20 different plant projects!! I found the air plants houses in an old wooden door to be particularly clever. Great employees and great selection. read more

Today I went to the Clement Nursery with my husband. One of the employees said hello to my husband but completely ignored me, even as I was standing right near him for 30 minutes. He had clearly seen me, but chose to act as if I were invisible. Most unprofessional behavior. My husband was also very upset about this rude treatment. I note that other reviewers have experienced rude behavior from the employees. read more

I decided I wanted to try my hand at DIY terrariums with succulents and wasn't satisfied with the sickly looking selection at Orchard Hardware. So I ended up going to check out this nursery because of the Yelp reviews - and I loved it! They had a great selection of little succulents that were all fresh and in great condition, including the small pots of mixed plants. The owner, Philip, was friendly and super helpful. Thanks to these lovely plants from Clement Nursery, I was able to successfully put together my first terrariums with no prior gardening experience! read more

A truly amazing slice of heaven in SF. I've stopped in to so many other nurseries and there was something different about Clement on visiting yesterday. It felt like a real community and that's thanks to the wonderful staff. In particular, I really enjoyed chatting with Phillip and hearing about how he came to own the place and rebuild it to what it is today. The folks helped me select the right plant, pot and really showed they cared about everything being right and looking good. I appreciated the patience with educating me on proper care. Finally, they spent so much time carefully potting the plant and helping me secure it in my U-Haul. We need more small businesses like this one!! Can't wait to stop in soon! read more

Great selection of plants, great services, and superb people! In my experience it's been hard to find nurseries that also have a great selection of pots and can repot for you even if you brought your pot somewhere else. For this reason alone I would keep coming back, let alone the fabulous people here! Philip and David are great guys, and especially Philip, who always does such a great job styling and repotting my plants. Highly recommend. read more

About 1 month ago I got a rubber plant (name is Chicken Nugget), a beautiful pot, and 2 air plants from Clement Nursery. They had a lovely selection of indoor plants! A little pricey, but to be expected as they're indoor plants (all of which are really trendy), all in good shape, and the shop has a cute layout. The first guy who worked here was a sweetheart (a little flakey though). A second guy who potted our plant, though, acted like we were such a burden. From a miscommunication between the employees there, the plant was potted before the price tag from the plant was collected in the system. And so the guy who thought we were an incredible burden made sure to sigh, act exasperated, and throw up his hands at any opportunity. So, the nursery was super cute. But I've definitely been exploring other nurseries through the city after this experience. read more

Wow! Hands down the best customer experience I've had in SF. My husband and I purchased a dwarf Meyer Lemon tree and a pot fully expecting we'd repot the tree ourselves. Not only did they offer to transfer it for us, but Philip also went above and beyond and beautifully transferred our new tree. While he was planting the tree, he found some pests that made their home between the graft and the stake, removed all of them, sprayed it with End All, and gave us a bottle to make sure we'd have a healthy tree. Any other nursery in the city would've sent us on our way with our pot and the plant. Clement Nursery is truly special with an amazing array of plants and deep expertise. We're now customers for life. Thanks again, gentlemen! read more

This nursery is a breath of fresh air. Came here looking for some plants to decorate the house with, and the staff was overly friendly and helpful, and it was a stress free place to come and spend the hour. This nursery has beautiful products and I have had experiences where they've been friendly and helpful. But my most recent visit I felt like any simple question was a burden (e.g., how much water does this plant require?'. At one point I asked someone to look at a plant I brought back that was growing funny (this after spending $250 on new plants / pots) and the man I asked says 'are you serious? I can't believe I'm walking across the nursery when I have a crisis. Staff aren't showing today and we're about to blow up.' Extremely rude - he could have easily said 'just a minute; sorry I have to deal with something urgent right now.' I won't be back... read more

Total D Bags, new to plants and was super enthusiastic and trying to learn. Felt totally unwelcome. Their unengaged body language and eye contact made me feel like when you get a teacher who doesn't care about their job anymore. A beautiful, large nursery with variety of outside & indoor plants. They'll pot the plants into a new pot if you buy a pot there as well (and I assume so if you bring one?). Prices are pretty reasonable, and they just have so many different plants from small cacti to big indoor plants to edible plants, flowers, etc. The people here were very helpful in answering my questions and helping me pick out plants for my room. read more

Huge selection, great variety, healthy indoor and outdoor plants. Look no further, this will become your go to plant shop. Phillip and David are extremely knowledgeable and carry a wonderful stock/ variety of plants, succulents, pots, and all the things you need for your plants. Their prices are very fair and there is no up selling. At the end of the day, just a couple of guys doing what they love and doing it well. I've bought plants from them that cost 2-3x elsewhere. I don't know where they get their pots from, but they are so reasonably priced - I actually can't find cheaper online. Amazing quality, beautiful designs, and plenty of options. Keep up the great work guys. read more

They have a selection of outdoor plants and flowers, indoor plants, pots, soil, plant decorations, everything for your plant needs! I found everything to be reasonably priced. He and his crew don't just mow my yard and leave, they check that the irrigation works, the check the health of my plants, and they proactively make recommendations on things to improve the yard. Communication is very important to me and I feel comfortable asking Michael questions and getting his feedback. My last gardener was always late, missed appointments, and couldn't understand the questions I asked. He was cheaper than Michael, but what I saved in costs I paid for with hassle and uncertainty. It's true that you get what you pay for and I'm very pleased with my choice to hire Cosman's Urban Farming.

The lawn is always green and beautiful, perfect for letting my fur baby run around and play (or potty) and you will always see people enjoying the space, stretched out reading or talking with friends or just soaking up the peace. One of my favorite things about Union square is the art. The giant hearts are iconic in San Francisco and they're always being repainted and reimagined by different artists, so no matter how many times you come here, you will always see something new. I've seen so many versions over the years but I still stop to look at them every time I'm here because there is always something new. The hearts the statues, the occasional pop-up installations or performances, the square always feels alive. There is also always something going on. On my last visit here there were ping pong tables set up everywhere with people playing. I saw juggling classes being offered and arts programs for kids with people gathered around having a good time. There was a reading area and books brought in on carts. They even still had up there holiday backdrop that looks like it was put there just for people to use for the perfect insta shot. There are plenty of tables and benches scattered around so it's easy to grab a seat and stay a while. Even if you're just passing through and you need to rest your dogs for a few minutes, this is the perfect spot. I spent more than a few afternoons here people watching or enjoying a snack from the little stand nearby. It's really a great place to spend some time and a must do if you are in San Francisco. On the weekends you will find people trying to usher you onto bus tours or maybe sell you souvenirs, but you might also witness an event or see straight performers so you never really know what you're going to get. This is a place for visitors and locals wiith nice surroundings where you can really get a feel for and just to take in the city.

I have been a customer of this nursery for more than 15 years and have purchased many plants here over the years. The owner has always been friendly and welcoming, and I have also enjoyed seeing his dog during my visits.. Unfortunately, my experience with the older gentleman working at the register has been consistently upsetting. On many occasions, when I greeted him, I received no response at all. His facial expressions, body language, and tone of voice often come across as cold, dismissive, and unwelcoming. What makes this particularly disappointing is that it has happened repeatedly over several years. Each time I visit, I hope for a different experience, but I often leave feeling uncomfortable and discouraged. As a customer who has supported this business for such a long time, it honestly hurts to feel unwelcome in a place that I otherwise love so much. I understand that everyone has bad days, and I am not expecting exceptional friendliness. However, basic courtesy--such as acknowledging a greeting or interacting respectfully with customers--goes a long way. The contrast between the warm atmosphere created by the owner and the unpleasant experience at checkout is striking. I will continue shopping here because I truly appreciate the shop and the quality of its plants, but I felt it was important to share this feedback. I sincerely hope future customers can enjoy an experience that feels welcoming from beginning to end. read more

Worst experience ever. I used to buy from this nursery before the renovation. I went in today and asked the manager/owner (?) if there was a potted version of a large succulent growing in the ground (towards the rear of the nursery). He didn't understand my basic question. I asked it again in a variation - not sure why he couldn't comprehend 'is there a smaller version of this in a pot?' He again didn't understand. I asked twice more and by this time, he shouted to me that I was asking (quote) "stupid f***king questions" and "you don't even know how to ask questions" and then started loudly berating me. I was not only disgusted with his unprofessional & abusive attitude yet also appalled that this guy couldn't even answer a simple question. Other people heard him swearing at me. He came right up to my face as he was ranting & made it clear I was not welcome. It was insane and this guy is nuts! I made it clear to him that he must be going through a mid life crisis and his attitude was disgusting. What's the point in having someone representing the business when all he does is scream at customers, because he doesn't know how to communicate or doesn't know the answer? I will NEVER buy from this place again. read more
