Thoroughly disappointed by our experience at Goldhorn. When we walked in, one bartender glared at us as we sat down and expected us to... customer serve ourselves? The other was too engrossed in his conversation with other patrons to notice us. We weren't greeted, asked if we had any questions about the menu, etc. Once we got our drink order in, we were interested in getting food as well. Getting the attention of the staff was truly a feat to boot. We finally got the food order in and ended up moving to a table because the first bartender kept staring at us with her hands on her hips. We got the food, expecting something like Bottlehouse/Masthead/HiHo for our meal, and it was Sysco food. The chicken sandwich was a Sysco chicken tender on a bun. For over $35.00 in food alone, we expected more. We both work in the service industry and understand that things happen, but being treated like an inconvenience for our entire experience is something I was not expecting from a brewery with such high ratings. The cherry on top: in the men's room, 1 of the 3 sinks and both of the urinals were out of order. Definitely will not be back. read more

We ordered at the bar and our food was brought to the table. The staff were friendly and helpful. A few people arrived as we ate our lunch. The food and beer were good. My husband and I attended a birthday party at this brewery the other night. Overall, it was a good experience. The Belgian Tripel I had was excellent! The pierogis, pretzel bites and chicken paprikash were all mediocre as far as brewery food goes. It's a very spacious brewery with many different rooms. I didn't think the atmosphere overall was that special, however, they did have cornhole and other games in one of their rooms, which was a nice option for folks wanting to be more active. They also played a german style of music to match the vibe of the brewery. The service at the bar was very quick. read more

We went for lunch Friday before going for the glassblowing class right behind this. We each ordered a beer and sandwich. Choice of tator tots is yummy. I had the Reuben sandwich which was the best I ever had. Corned beef was not fatty and very tender and the bread was toasted and not greasy at all. It's beautiful inside and out, and very large...really a great space for hanging out and inviting lots of friends to join. We chatted with the manager and he was super friendly. I've been here several times to gather with boyfriend's family who live up north. This past weekend we were there for a birthday celebration and had the back room reserved with a buffet. While I haven't been impressed in the past with some of their menu items (the veggie burger is pretty good), they did a great job with the buffet food. There was baked chicken, potatoes, and green beans. They also had sauerkraut and sausage but I didn't sample. All the attendees enjoyed the food. They offered wrist bands to us since we had one tab for drinks at the bar. While not a full bar, their draft selection is good, and they have a few wines, and can do a few cocktails. We came here for a birthday party for my hubby and we had a blast! We were in the play room with all the arcade games and corn hole! We had four little kids (under 5) with us and they had a blast with the games! The space is perfect for big groups or a party! They even have a private party room for events. Open beer hall area, small parking lot in back. A handful of brews made there available at any one time. They offer short and regular pours but no flights. The Scottish ale, altbier, and imperial stout I tried were all brewed well and tasty brews. The menu could be described as eclectic gourmet bar food. Nothing healthy available, but if you're not expecting health food you'll find a lot of unique and delicious options. They were sadly out of chicken livers, so I had the delicious juicy Asian barbecue pork sandwich with kimchi and a soft tasty bun. The creamy cole slaw was creamy and the perfect mix of sweet and savory! The crispy smelt was sooo good especially with the aioli it came with. They reminded me of fish sticks from my childhood. read more

First time visiting the brewery. The open spacing of this place is amazing and keeps coming every time you turn the corner. We were with a large group. They did a nice job with our group giving us a private space to eat and they set up a nice appetizer buffet for us. They have a very large open space with corn hole boards, darts, and high tops. This was an excellent space for a large group to enjoy beers and good times. Disappointed they didn't have darts, we would have brought our own had we known. Beers were very good. Not only is it a diverse selection, but the ABV range was perfect. Good tasting beers throughout. The location and parking are not great. Wouldn't recommend this place for a family night or date night. This is more a a group trip and is perfect for a large group. read more

Stopped in here for lunch today and was welcomed by Chris behind the bar. Very professional, friendly, and knowledgeable about beer. Enjoyed my time here immensely. This place is huge when you get in Side with tons of seating including a giant bar that wraps around. They also had a selection of board games to play. For lunch, I had a standard burger and fries. The food was a let down. Burger was obviously a frozen patty that still looked like circular on the bun and had no flavor whatsoever. Fries were equally boring. Cafeteria grade at best. The beer is another story. Sampled 6 beers. Here are my thoughts: American IPA (Dead Mans Curve) - not as hoppy as I'd like, but pleasant Pilsner - spot on beer. Pleasantly crisp with a nice, mild hoppy finish. Very refreshing and a good testament to the style Beer of the Goat (bock style) - semi dark with a sweet flavor. Again, a good representation of the bock style of beer Dry Irish Stout - this, as well as the Pilsner, was my favorite. Fantastic Stout, reminiscent of Guinness, but a little more bold Schwarzbier - another great dark ale. Plenty of flavor Red IPA - a good bit better than the American style IPA. Slightly more hoppy with better flavor I went here looking for good styles of European beers and that's exactly what I found. Possibly the best Pilsner I've had in a while. Definitely will be returning here for a full glass of many of their beers as this was a lunch stop and time was short. read more

One if the coolest breweries around. The space is huge and has a ton of character. The pineapple wheat beer was so good I had a hard time trying anything else. Everyone in our group really liked the beers. The hot chicken sandwich is humongous and really tasty. The pretzel was pretty standard but we really enjoyed the beer cheese, it was great to dip fries in too. Pierogis and chicken tenders were good too. I highly recommend the buffalo sauce if you get tenders. The star of the night was the smoked pork tenderloin with curry apple chutney. They smoke meats on Saturday, and this was the special. It was ridiculous. I'll drive the 45 mins up to Cle next time I see they're making them. They're also dog friendly on the patio and I think one of the inside areas. read more

Finally got here after years of trying. The first thing that strikes me is isolation. This once-vibrant area is mostly deserted. Walked in on a Saturday night to find under 10 customers. Combine that with driving past Fiyah, the new Korean bbq just north and seeing zero patrons there, it did not inspire confidence in the commerce around there. But let's get to the Goldhorn: Impressive, sprawling facility. I hope they're selling retail beer at a high level to match the space and manpower needed to keep those humongous tanks busy. And the beer was indeed the highlight for us. Couple of hoppy IPAs and a tasty Oktoberfest. I had heard a lot about the food and came away slightly disappointed. A double burger was good, but the cheesesteak and reuben both suffered from leathery texture. And a "basket of loaded nachos" was actually just a paper plate with store-bagged chips and stingy toppings. Two thumbs up for the friendly and efficient staff. Would like to visit again for another beer when the atmosphere is more convival. The cavernous space begs for it. But I won't plan my dinner around it. Continuing Yelp's annoying trend of no half-stars (or zero when a horrible place merits it) I give 3 here. But really 2 1/2. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect given that it isn't exactly located in the trendiest part of town, but I was pleasantly surprised to find this gem is a mere 4 mins away from the E 55th marina. It is huge inside and ideal for groups, complete with picnic tables, plenty of games, & a patio. I absolutely loved the relaxed atmosphere and instantly knew I would return. I really enjoyed the saison and IPA's... honestly there wasn't a beer in the flight that I disliked! We also ordered a two apps to share (yes... they have a good menu!). We had two giant pretzels with mustard and cheese. The pierogi really stole our hearts... crispy and flavorful (did not taste solely like a lump of potato)! I want to give some love to this brewery! Located in St. Clair Superior's Hub 55 complex, it's a little off the beaten path and a bit unexpected, but that is exactly why I like it! And when this pandemic is over I can't wait to go back. My favorite beer on tap is the polka city pilsner--the website describes it as: crisp, clean, straw-colored lager, with a crisp bitter finish. brewed with slovenian hops. Since I don't love dark beers and am not a big drinker in general, I love having lighter options! The kleveland kölsch is also awesome--a traditional light German ale, characterized by its light malt body with a clean and crisp finish. The inside has a cool vibe. Its big and spacious with deep wood accents and a garage door that opens in the nice weather. They also do super cool events, like Galentine's Day yoga and a scrabble tournament (I swear to god). They even had a drag queen trivia night I regret not attending. I've never tried the food here, but everything looks delish that comes out. I love Goldhorn--it's full of surprises in the best way possible! read more

Popped in last night for a little bit as this has been on my list for awhile and I've literally been gone like all summer. Started with a flight. Really good price at $6 for the four tastes. Really liked the pilsner and the saison. I love IPAs and felt these underperformed. The west coast one just didn't have enough citrus/pine going on and the NE style one was not hazy at all. I was actually just getting more residual alcohol taste more than anything else. Pilsner and saison were on point. The space is ok but I could see it being very fun and interesting for meetings/parties which I was told. There are other rooms and party areas out by the bathrooms which are sort of hidden from sight initially. Service was really good. The bartender, Chris, was on point. Food was meh. Price was right at $10 for a burger with choice of slaw, kraut, or fries. I chose the beer cheese burger which is just a simple burger with their beer cheese sauce (good), lettuce, and tomato. I chose fries. As a whole it's solid but more of a burger you'd get at someone's backyard cookout or a carnival, IMO. Fries too. Frozen and the thicker cut ones you would get at some cafeteria or fair/carnival. Now, the price is right but if you're looking for a gastropub type great burger or hand cut fries then I'd just be prepared to be disappointed. It's a bit of a schlep to that neighborhood for a westsider especially like me and there is nothing else really going on around it. I'd go back for the pilsner if I was in the area but that's improbable. read more

I had my dads 70th birthday party here and it was awesome! The game room was and open space was prefect for young kids to run around. The in house brewed root beer was an excellent alternative for the non drinkers, and the bar has a nice selection for the non beer drinkers. A few selections for liquor and wine, rather than just beers, which is a bonus, but unfortunately the food is all bar food and tastes like it has been reheated. It seems that everytime I mention that I want to check this place out the first reaction I get is "be careful over there", "don't go by yourself", "don't go at night" etc... Well I used to work in this area and I guess I am not as fearful as the average person and thank goodness because I loved it here! My friends and I did our own brewery crawl and this was one of our stops. I really liked the beer here and space is fantastic! They have a huge party room in the back and the brewery part is large in space with seats at the bar or cozy lounge chairs around the edges. They had music while we were there and the girl singing was really good. The staff were all very friendly and answered all of my questions ( I had a lot). They do have a small food menu but I did not order any food while I was there. They also have a small, nice looking patio so I will be sure to come back on a nice day to take advantage of that. Popped into Goldhorn Brewery last night for a beer sampler and pretzels with my boyfriend and dachshund on a whim. We were immediately welcomed by the bartenders (wish I could remember their names). One saw my dog and brought over a large bowl of water for her since it was a humid day. We sat at the bar, enjoyed a pretzel with beer cheese (so good!), and watched a ton of other great food options come out of the kitchen. Can't wait to try the fried chicken sandwich and their Cleveland cheesesteak. The beer was good! Our favorite was their flagship beer named Deadman's Curve IPA. I'm not a big fan of IPAs myself but it was certainly worth a try -- loved it! They have a sweet teacher's deal on Fridays in which teachers with ID get 20% off their final bill. I live on the west side, but the drive to GHB was shorter than I anticipated given the Shoreway. Easy on, easy off. Give this place a shot! It's worth your time. read more

It was Goldhorn's turn on my round of the Cleveland area breweries (those with food at least). Service is what Goldhorn most stood out for in my opinion. The bartenders were really attentive despite a bus load of people getting dropped off all at once. The bartender brought out share plates and such in a timely manner and found us when we changed seats. Another pro of Goldhorn over other breweries is that the bartender delivers the food. A lot of breweries have an open kitchen where guests go get their own food - well Goldhorn has the same concept except the kitchen rings a bell and the bartender gets and delivers the food. Another bartender when clearing off our table even came and found us and asked if we wanted take away boxes for the rest of the entrée. Aside from service I liked the atmosphere. The area is really spacious. There our outdoor picnic tables, bar seating of course and then also high top and regular large group sized tables as well as some booths and leather lounge furniture. There are also board games to play which is a nice addition. The beer was good, both the Kolsch and the Weizenbock that I tried. The pretzel appetizer was really good. The pretzels are among the better that I have had. Two come to an order. The rest of the food though left a bit to be desired. My Schnitzle was good, but the potato serving was unnecessarily enormous. And there was not even an attempt at a vegetable. The Chicken Paprikash, also a massive serving, lacked a bit of flavor. There is parking in a small lot in front of the attached event space, across the street (though there's no cross walk nearby) or I suppose in the basically abandoned Sterle's Country House parking lot. Overall go for beer and pretzels. And to have a game night in a cool space. The food game needs to be stepped up to draw me back east. read more

Great place to go before or after a Browns game! Very spacious, cool game room and very good beer. I've been a Cleveland craft brew drinker since GLBC opened in '88, and I was pleasantly surprised by Goldhorn. Food was good - I wasn't overly crazy about the dish I picked, but that was on me. I went for something I wouldn't usually order. The rest of the party was very happy with their dishes and the price was very reasonable. Staff was extremely friendly and attentive. Goldhorn is a great Cleveland brewery! They have an awesome atmosphere - its large so lots of seating. The patio is nice for the summer, and its always crowded. I like that Goldhorn has games, its a great spot to chat and have a few drinks. I went with some friends and got a flight and some apps. I liked most of the beers, although they had a smoked beer I wasnt a huge fan of. The IPA was my favorite, but I am a big IPA person so thats probably why. Its an order at the bar kind of spot, which I always appreciate. The service was helpful and friendly, and pretty efficient when taking orders. As far as the food goes - everythign we tried we liked! They have some entree options which I can't speak to, but I would highly reccommend the pretzel. It comes with a mustard and cheese sauce which paired perfectly with some beers. I really like this place. I love the layout. They sometimes have yoga classes in conjunction with Balance and Brews. Unfortunately good beer does bad things to my body (sad clown noise). So I am limited to one. The barkeeps are very knowledgeable and super friendly. They have a small menu with sammies, sausage and meat platters. This is a must try if you like beer. read more

I'm a big fan of supporting local businesses so I was excited to try Goldhorn Brewery. The space is large but rather barren. There are very few tables and even fewer customers. The menu is tiny with only 5-6 items and you place your order at the bar. The food was served quickly but was nothing spectacular. I suspect my burger was just a store bought burger patty and it was nothing exciting. I did appreciate that they have board games guests can play. The space has amazing potential. It's huge and trendy. It just needs some life and a stronger menu. As I said, I'm a huge fan of local businesses and Goldhorn has a tremendous amount of potential.
