This is not a review of their actual repairs because I never actually got to that stage. My husband has a newer Range Rover with some scratches on the bumper. I called Cline based on the great 5 star rating and brought the car in for a quote to fix. The woman looked at it and said $1000. I asked her to send me the quote in writing, it took 2 emails to get it. She said we would need to leave the car 4-5 days for repairs. That's really difficult to do - for our family at least - so it took at least 6 months for us to find a time when we were going out of town and could be without a car for that long. I called back and asked if we could bring the car in and she said yes. However, she said the quote would now be $1400 because the first time she didn't take into account all the fancy cameras that would need to be calibrated. That's annoying but we decided it would be ok. I also mentioned that there were a few more scratches that I wanted her to look at, you know 6 months later and all. So the day of our trip I leave in the middle of work to drive over (15 min each way) to drop the car off and Lyft back. I get there and the lady now asks someone else at the front desk to look at the car with her. Ok, fine, I want a precise quote and there are some new scratches - on the same bumper. Now this guy says, 'is this an insurance claim? We quoted $1400 but it could really go up to --- $5000 --- we won't know until we open everything up. We do 95% insurance work so we recommend you open a claim." WTF! I just took an hour out of the day I'm prepping to go on a trip for you to spring a 3x increase on me and basically suggest you are jacking up the price to bill insurance. This couldn't have been mentioned over the phone? I am still furious weeks later. Needless to say, I drove home and the car hasn't been repaired. read more

My husband was an autobody repair tech for over 15 years so he is very particular about where our vehicles go for repair. Quality is the most important thing we look for in a shop which is the reason we went to Cline. We know the quality of the work will be the best available in Sonoma County. The employees are well experienced and know what they're doing. My car had to have a new bumper after I was rear ended. I received three estimates even though I knew I would end up at Cline, but it's important to note that all 3 estimates came in within 10% of each other. Dropped off my car on Monday and it was ready by Thursday. Cline helped arrange the rental car as well. My car looks absolutely perfect now. They even washed and cleaned it for me. Wife had an object collision last night and we wanted to get a repair estimate as soon as possible so we scheduled an appointment via the official website last night for this morning. It's right before the Christmas holiday weekend so we were glad to be able to get this appointment and moved things around with our work schedules to make it happen. We arrive and the doors are locked, lights off, and no sign or explanation on the doors/windows. Official hours are 8a-5p, with our appointment at 9:15a. My rear passenger door had an encounter with a pipe just before Christmas. Cline Collision Center repaired it perfectly while I was away for the Christmas holiday. Ben, the manager, accepted my insurance company's estimate and sent me updates and photos while I was gone. He was gracious and personable and gave every indication that he would make things perfect. That was indeed the case and I could not have been more pleased and appreciative. All in all, and in spite of the circumstances, it was a pleasant experience with an extremely acceptable outcome. EDIT: After a phone call, email and review response stating the same thing as written by the owner below, I wanted to edit my review to provide a response of my original post. Please note this is no reflection on any one individual, as they were all extremely friendly and I'm sure they provide excellent work. I did provide my reasoning as to the review scoring, and while I appreciate you reaching out, I will not be changing my review. (I noted that I am not the only woman who went through this exact issue who also left a one star review) There are not great sides to this industry, which are unfortunately very common. In fixing my side mirror it took me less than 20 minutes with undoing 3 bolts and screwing on the new one, with both mirrors costing me less than $100. We both know that labor costs is the majority of the profit and by adding in additional (not required, and usually not done) work, adds to the profit margin. Although it seems transparent and having a database offers a great explanation, I do see hidden costs where other young women might not. Saying that other shops are cutting corners is not appropriate nor professional, it demeans others work to justify overestimations of labor by your facility. I did note that workers were very pleasant and friendly and I greatly appreciated that, but it seemed like there was a woman working to deal with the women to make us feel more comfortable and willing to pay. I understand that these issues are of no fault of any one individual, but the facility and the industry in general. Please understand my perspective, and know that I also see yours. Original Post: I absolutely HATE feeling like I'm getting taken advantage of, so let me tell you, THIS is why you always get a second opinion for repairs. I went to another auto body shop, and was quoted $2,000 for repairing and painting my front drivers side fender, as well as replacing my drivers side mirror (I can do it myself, just wanted to see the cost), came here and they were VERY nice and easy to talk to which I really liked. What I didn't like is I was initially quoted more than DOUBLE at $4,500, only after mentioning family in automotive repair was I given a "discount" which took it down to $3,300. I do the majority of the repairs on my vehicles from being taught growing up (although I definitely do NOT look like I work on cars), but body work is a little out of my realm. I decided to just do the mirror myself and I was able to replace both side mirrors on my vehicle myself which took me about 20 minutes and cost $90 for both (heating didn't work on passenger side), where it said it would take 5 hours on the estimate and cost $160 for one. Scheduled an appointment for $800 to repair and paint the fender. Total repair cost: $890 Quoted cost: $3,300 Going to a place where (most women) have no idea what is involved, it is extremely easy to be taken advantage of and it is disappointing to see that loud and clear here. read more

Call me weird but taking Rose (my truck) to an auto body shop felt like dropping one of my kids off for surgery ‍. Joe made sure to explain everything in detail which helped me relax. When I smashed my Audi the original shop I took it to offered no loaner, no rental, no help with deductible... called Cline and he offered to take price of a rental out of my deductible! Vehicle ended up totaled and he ended up not getting paid to work on it... but still ended up honoring his word to cover the rental. That's proper customer care and just the right thing to do. Jason made multiple attempts to contacted my girlfriend, and I directly via phone, and on yelp to sincerely apologize. For what is not fully his fault... He is a genuine man, and honest business owner!!! We will still not be returning. Not because of the quality of repair at Cline's. Because Honestly I still believe they do some of... if not the very best bodywork in all of Santa Rosa. But because of the way our job was handled. i.e. not all parts ordered, therefore extending the turn around time, and the multiple reworks. They DID make good on the first rework of the airbag light from the rear end-er. And they DID make good on the second rework for the damaged window. However, we are still upset that they told us the window (rework) would take 2 days, but it ended up taking 7 days and we had no rental which really put a burden on us. I guess this is just a classic case of "you can't make everyone happy all the time" and we are just being one of those finicky customers. But we were not at fault at either accident. The Good: Excellent work, professional staff, timely responses and consistent communication. I don't have a lot of recent experience with collision centers, 2 in the last decade or more. I was recommended to use Cline, after my car was side-swiped in a parking garage and can you believe it - no one left a note. I had good service at the last place I went to, but since this was coming out of my pocket I got a quote from Cline. They save me several hundred dollars and because they were recommended I gave them a shot. I am glad I did, the work was done fast and on-time (which is very important to me) as I know that many places can do good work. I hear the horror stories about the time, and it taking longer. We had a fantastic experience with Cline Collision. Our neighbor 'tapped' my 4-runner with his bumper so we called a mobile repair guy out. The mobile guy said because of where the hit was, if it was his own vehicle he would take it into a shop because is could be structural damage not just cosmetic damage. (Shout out to honest business owners :) We got a few estimates and did some research and went with Cline. The service and communication was clear & consistent and the repair was perfect. After getting my car back I notified a few days later both my headlights were out and suspecting an electrical issue (after trouble shooting and checking fuses) I called my mechanic. He heard we had truck at a repair shop and said to start there. I called Cline and the owner said come right now! They did the a little more in depth trouble shooting and were kinda stumped too. Randomly one bulb was loose and one was burned out. Nothing to do with their work but the owner was insisting they change out the bulbs for me anyways. Embarrassed, I graciously declined and headed off to get my own bulbs...but appreciate the 'above and beyond' customer service.
