I initially went in for a cleaning which went well and the staff was very friendly (no surprises here, I need to floss more). I also took X-Rays since I was a new patient and Dr. Rudin spent extra time walking me through some of the past work he could see that I had done, and more importantly, pointed out some areas of concern. I have "preventative only" dental coverage and went in for a checkup and did not need anything besides a cleaning and was still billed. 1. At my appointment copies of my insurance card were made. After my appointment I got text messages from the receptionist about needing to send photos of the card. I didn't have notifications turned on so she just kept texting instead of calling like a normal office would, without an explanation for why I needed to provide my card again. 2. My dental plan allows a series of "comprehensive x-rays" every 5 years, and a set of bite wing x-rays annually. They did "comprehensive x-rays" even though I had them done less than 5 years ago elsewhere. I have 0 cavities so there was no reason I needed the comprehensive x-rays sooner than my insurance would pay for them and if they were needed, I could have had them sent from my prior dentist. TAKEAWAY: Know what your insurance covers before you go to any dentist and then talk to the hygienist before they start because apparently you have to be your own advocate at offices like this.

Upon arrival the receptionist said that I had to put all of our personal information, insurance info and and medical information into their new portal since they had a new computer system and texted links to me to do it separately for myself and my son. I said that I wished that they would transfer the information from there old system and she said yes, me too. I told her when I was having trouble with the with the portal and she just looked at me. While I was sitting in the waiting room entering information I heard a hygienist come to look for us and the receptionist told her that we cannot go back until I finish entering the portal. While this was going on another patient came in with another person and was in the waiting room cursing including using the F word. Then the receptionist addressed him by his first name and told him he could go back, which led me to believe that she knew him. No, hey sorry about the language, etc. Not a good environment when you have a child/children with you. When we went back to the exam room the hygienist said that the dentist would exam my teeth before she cleaned them and he did; which doesn't seem like a thorough exam to me but it seemed that he was planning to leave for the evening. When the hygienist asked to re-schedule us, I told her that I didn't think that we'd be back. When she asked why, I said that I would include it in my survey response since they normally send a link after appointments. I did mention to bad environment in the waiting room for children and she responded that it wasn't an employee but a patient. I would be apologizing if it was one of my customers but I guess that the medical / dental industry handles things differently. Any-who, I guess they didn't want the feedback since for the first time I did not receive a text with a link to a survey. There has been a lot of turn-over with the hygienist and front office employees since Dr. Wolfe has retired and the service is not the same.

A dental assistant named Nicole was completely out of line. I had to deal with her twice giving the benefit of the doubt the first time. She emotionally dumped all over me with personal and professional complaints both times. She insulted my teeth, asking about stains (most people ask how I get my teeth so white) and making me feel bad on purpose. She constantly crossed physical boundaries, leaning directly over my body and pressing up against my chest during a procedure, which was entirely unnecessary. Furthermore, she spent the appointment complaining and trying to gaslight me into thinking I was the problem, when I was simply trying to relax and get my teeth cleaned. I actually had to sit up in the chair and tell her to please stop talking and focus on cleaning my teeth just to get through the service. She passive aggressively scraped the plague in a forceful manner so I could hear all her hard work. When I complained to management about Nicole's unprofessional behavior, nothing was done. No apology or anything. The billing practices are also dishonest. I was told twice by the office staff that bringing my daughter in would incur zero out-of-pocket costs. Instead, I was hit with surprise bills totaling over $300 each time. When I brought this up, the office manager offered nothing but excuses and attempted to guilt-trip me for holding a basic boundary regarding their staff's lies. To top it off, the actual dental work was sub-par. A crown put in by the owner fell out multiple times shortly after completion, forcing me to pay thousands of dollars out of pocket at a new practice to have his mistake entirely redone. They constantly pester patients for 5-star reviews, but this practice does not deserve them. Go somewhere else.
