Ivan and team went above and beyond in installing our closet systems. What was supposed to be a 6 hour install took them 9 because of some complications with our closet shapes. They found solutions and the closets look great. And they had to work in the dark because our house is being renovated and is currently without electricity. The only thing I would say is make sure you get the exact design you want finalized in writing and don't count on making massive changes the day of install (even though everything is adjustable). read more

Pros: - Friendly and efficient installers Cons: - Designer mismeasured, so the design I agreed to is not what was installed - When I contacted Mark, the operations manager on the day of the install to get them to find a solution, he was rude, interrupted me, and told me he'd contact me later, but never did. - The designer wasn't available the day of the install to troubleshoot the problem. I left her a message and she never called back. This business cares more about churning out fast contracts than making customers happy. The installer was so receptive to suggestions regarding caulking etc. He was excellent to deal with. My choice was a medium quality product to fit the building material of this particular house. Appointment was easy to make. Courtney showed up on time, had a great attitude and when I showed her our 'master-disaster closet,' she smiled and said, 'No problem - this will be easy!" So, I left her to her devices and she quickly drew out a solution. We talked about options, she made recommendations and basically 'closed the deal' quickly. When it was time for installation, I received a call in advance and the guys showed up on time. They were incredibly professional, organized and had their processes down. They removed the original shelves and rods in our 33 year-old house. I assumed there would be a lot of damage to the dry wall, but the were very careful and the installation was phenomenal - level, caulked, straight, etc. I can honestly say that doing this has been life-changing. I have the space to organize all my clothes and shoes, and with the drawers Courtney recommended, my closet has become my dressing room as well. Mornings are a lot easier to navigate when I know where everything is! Finally, while we installing new closets, we were also remodeling the rest of our upstairs. After the closets were installed, my husband called it my happy space. The company is responsive and supportive from a certain standpoint. The folks putting it together and the initial consultation was pleasant. The materials are not near as good as they should be for the cost and shelves are simply put in place with side pins. This means you really can't put anything moderately heavy on the shelves or they will start bowing and eventually break. I really expected some kind of supports for the shelves in the cabinets. I really could have had a cabinet guy come in and it would have cost the same and been better quality. That is my fault for not getting further detail on the quality differences read more

The designer, Rebecca, spent several hours designing my closet. She listened to me concerning what I wanted. She looked at what items I had to place in the closet, then she designed each wall. She definitely knows what she's doing. The installation team arrived on the day and time installation was scheduled. They were professional and worked in a timely fashion. We love our new closet! We are very happy with our new master bedroom closet by Closets by Design. We wanted to replace our basic builder's closet with a functional and attractive one. Our designer Shane came to the house and worked with us to come up with a great design which was very reasonably priced. The design was for a floor-based closet system which included 10 drawers, multiple shelves, hanging areas, a built-in hamper, a belt rack and valet rods. The installation was done as scheduled with no issues. The work crew was efficient, courteous, and clean. We had prepped the closet ahead of time by removing the old fixtures and repairing and painting the walls. The after sales service was excellent. There were a couple of items that had to be addressed and the customer service was beyond expectations. This company will ensure that everything is 100% and that you are completely satisfied. Ask for Raquel! She is amazing and is very knowledgeable about creating maximum space in any area of your home. Raquel was very accommodating with the install schedule. I would give a 4.5 star because they do not do any wall repairs on drywall or paint damage when taking out your old set up. So disappointed with our experience. Had an issue with our designer forgetting to add a lock on my jewelry drawer, but she is working to get it fixed. Very pleasant to work with. However, the Installers were very unprofessional! They were in my home two days and didn't lay floor covering. I had to ask them to wear booties on the second day. They told me it WASN'T POLICY to protect customer's property with covering and if the client requested them to wear booties, then they would. So I asked them to wear booties, but they walked in and out of the house and through the garage to the driveway wearing them the entire time so that defeats the purpose. My new carpet got stained from the constant traffic. Both days one or both of them used my master bathroom. (Actually caught one of the installers in my bathroom with the light on and fan going). This is a new community and there are Porta potties on the street. Absolutely ridiculous! So, now I have to clean my toilet room and my brand new light-colored carpet. Calling carpet cleaners today. read more

UPDATED: In January 2018, We requested to add more shelves and drawers. I contacted our awesome closet designer Shane Kerr and everything else - appointment setting, installation was a breeze. My original review from December 2017 follows: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ This review is for the design to installation process...our beautiful master closet just got installed yesterday. I have been extremely unhappy with our closet spaces and as much as I wanted to make as much function with the space that we had, I could not bear to see lost potential and non functioning space anymore. Closets By Design was not my first choice. I had already collected some ideas before meeting with phenomenal designer Shane Kerr. The designer who came prior to Shane from the West coast based competitor had ten years of experience yet designed a space that reinforced what I did NOT like about our current closet. Shane was the third designer i worked with (i had a good experience with a second designer from another competitor but the company would not come out to confirm measurements I gave them until I committed). Shane not only actually listened and paid attention to our needs but was very frank about her recommendations especially when she felt that what i thought was good was not the best use of space. I did not realize that CBD designs DURING the consultation and there is something to be said about having someone draft a plan with good ol'fashioned pencil and paper right beside you. Shane designed right before my eyes, by hand and was SO thorough and she made sure I understood what dimensions CBD uses as standards and what dimensions we wanted. I admit i was not prepared to receive a priced to sell quote, and based on my research I knew before committing that CBD was definitely competitively priced (especially considering that they provide only floor mounted closet systems). The installation was a breeze with such polite and hardworking installers (Lennie and David). They went ahead and used knobs that I purchased separately and the work was well done. They did a thorough cleaning afterwards and made sure I did a walk through before they left. If you are looking for a wall mounted closet system know that CBD offers only floor mounted systems for interior spaces. They also do not have as many finish options as other Austin based competitors whose showrooms I had visited. If you do not like thermally fused MDF for whatever reason then you have to go to builders who install with solid wood. If you want a priced to sell quote for floor mounted closet systems, a designer who actually listens to you, a design made during the consultation, and a smooth installation process, go to Closets By Design (ask FOR Shane!). read more
