The local was easy to find and in a nice shopping center with a prime location. The store is clean and organized nicely. Signage is well placed and a lot of areas are defined by brand and style type which is nice if you tend toward a specific style. Selection tends toward bridge and mid-level to high end brands. Staff was fairly attentive. Pricing is not a steal but decent. This is not like going to a Salvation Army or Goodwill. The store clearly researches items/ brands and prices accordingly. (So don't expect to pay $1... lol) Overall, nice store will keep on my list so I can check them out whenever I'm in Dallas area. read more

I am always impressed by the quality of the clothes offered for consignment at Clotheshorse Anonymous. Located in the Park Cities, the store offers an incredible amount of gorgeous designer duds, including shoes, handbags, and sunglasses. The customer service associates are always helpful and knowledgeable about inventory. Jan Gatewood always goes above and beyond to ensure customers have a positive experience. On my visit today I purchased three pairs of Worth pants for $39 each; normal retail for these pants is from $368-$498. I got a pair of Coach slides for $55. All of these items were in perfect condition. Twice a year Clotheshorse Anonymous has an amazing sale where all items are deeply discounted. It is possible to get some mind blowing deals! I have consigned with CHA for years. I recently spent a great deal of time cleaning out clothes/shoes closets, dry-cleaning garments, etc to consign. My assistant took bags of designer clothes, shoes, sunglasses and was told that it would cost $1 per piece to "look" at each item (whether they ended up taking them or not) because they were not on hangers (note- each piece was neatly folded). I spoke to the sales woman on the phone and told her I've never been charged for this before and she said it was a new policy. I asked if she could work with me this time given I was unaware of the new policy and do not have wire hangers in my home...she said no. Needless to say, I will no longer consign with Clotheshorse Anonymous and I will tell everyone I know to stick with To Be Continued, Vintage Martini, etc. read more

This is the kind of review that I'd hoped to never have to write... My best friend and I were checking out local consignment shops and I'd bookmarked this one months ago so we had to visit. We walked in and were greeted by two nice women at the counter. In the luxury designer bag case near the counter I spotted a Chloe bag that I've been in love with for a while but it wasn't the color I wanted so I asked if they had any others. They kindly said no so we continued to browse the rest of the shop and found our way over to their lower end designer bags. Had this been the extent of my encounter with the staff here, I would've given this place 5 stars. Not long after we started browsing the handbags, I noticed we had a tail following our every move. An older white woman(me and my friend are both minorities) stood about 5 feet behind us with her arms behind her back watching us like a hawk. When we moved down the aisle, she moved right along with us. I finally turned around and looked at her and she said "Oh, if you need anything, let me know" but I already knew I wouldn't be buying anything. We continued to browse and she continued to hover so I finally just decided to leave. I was so disappointed because they had some really nice pieces that I would've gladly paid for had I not been treated like a criminal. This place is the biggest rip off. I signed a contract stating that they can donate items at anytime without letting you know. (My bad) I took a $550 beautiful Silk Tori Burch dress in that I had worn 1 time at Thanksgiving. I took the perfectly clean, perfect condition dress in the designer clothes bag to be consigned. They reviewed it and took it. Hooray. A few days later I found the tie that went around the dress and brought it to them. At that time they told me they could not locate the dress. I went in a second time and this time I was told the dress had been donated because they found deodorant on the inside of the dress. The woman was so rude I just could not believe it. They donated the dress and took the entire write off. In the meantime I bought a pair of torn blue jean shorts there and when i got them home I found several ink stains on them. Why were these not donated? Their contract SUCKS that they can donate at any time without notice. But it does say that if it can be salvaged they will do so and deduct the price of dry cleaning, etc from your profits. SO which is it? There was NOT one thing wrong with that dress. If i was told it was ripped or torn i would not be so livid. But deodorant. Give me a break. read more

Walked in there today to take a look and see if they had any summer dresses. Walked in and two of the sales people notice me but didn't acknowledge me nor greeted me. Walk to the back to look at the shoes another sales person acknowledged me but didn't greet me and clearly she saw me trying on shoes. It's unfortunate because I would've bought something today, my money is the same color as everybody else's. Clotheshorse Anonymous really could've received 5 stars.. However their staff, each time I've visited, did not greet me nor were they friendly... until I checked out, of course. Anyways.. I purchased two pair of Christian Louboutins and a Prada mule my first visit. Purse and jewelry collection is pretty solid as well. My favorite displays include their Louis Vuitton and Chanel cases. So many vintage goodies inside. It's nearly impossible to leave this place empty handed. read more

In this past week I have visited Buffalo Exchange, Revente, Clotheshorse Anonymous, and Rethreads. In my opinion, Clotheshorse is the most upscale and therefore the most expensive. They don't just have name-brands, they have designer clothes. This is no thrift store, it's a consignment shop, everything looks new. My guess is that this is where Highland Parkers bring their impulse buys when they clear out their closets. However, it's also pretty young in style (moreso than Rethreads), and has a lot of hot stuff for those in their 20's and 30's. It's big, much bigger than Revente, and has racks upon racks of shoes, and an amazing assortment of dresses (I'm totally coming here next time I have a party to buy for). As for consigning your clothes, you have to have 8 items to start off with, and they are picky. Seasonal items preferred and they are young enough that they just aren't interested in taking suits - they just don't sell, they say. read more

I am adding an update only because the manager was so nice and caring. She called me and listened to my complaints and assured me they will work on them. So I will consider giving them another try with consignment, but for everyone else I advise to ask questions and get very clear answers from the associates before dropping off your items. DO NOT CONSIGN HERE! I tried my first consignment here and they are completely unorganized and didn't make me aware of anything. One of my shirts got donated for some reason even though all my items were brought in at the same time. My expensive shoes didn't sell and weren't in great shape, which they state they aren't liable for, but they threw away the nice box which they were supposed to tell me they do. I had many phone calls not returned and I barely made anything from my contract. If they want to sell high end things they need to have a better system and clientele. I do not recommend this place for any of your nice items. Nothing sells and you'll just be disappointment. Shopping here is ok but you can find better deals on ebay. read more

Ok, I've been shopping at Clotheshorse Anonymous for about 4 years. I was introduced by a friend who has been shopping resale for 30 years and trust me, she knows her stuff when it comes to designer brands and cuteness in clothing! Clotheshorse has both of these in spades. I'm going to list the reasons I consign and buy from them, and what keeps me coming back for more... (1) For consigners, Clotheshorse staff know their stuff when it comes to fashion, including knowledge of fine jewelry. One of the guys there knows gemstones very well. He also knows how to price items so that your jewel isn't sitting on the shelf collecting dust, but getting bought to the tune of your financial gain! This same guy, Mario, is actually a local designer. Just read an interesting article about him online in La Mode (2012). (2) For buyers, they have a great selection, including casual and evening wear, designer shoes and handbags, unique jewelry and much more! Whenever I go to Clotheshorse on the hunt for a specific piece, I usually find something better than what I was looking for! (3) The store is always very organized, even down to colors, so that you can find what you're looking for quickly. But just browsing aimlessly is so much fun too! (4) Last, but certainly not least, the owner of the store is a class act. She actually wants to hear feedback from customers. I had an occasion to speak with her and she seriously wowed me with her responsiveness to my issue. What impressed me most was that she demonstrated, not just with words, but by her actions, that she cared about WHAT I CARED ABOUT... There was no defensiveness and there were no excuses; just attentive, compassionate listening and corrective action. I confess: I've been shopping at this place since high school. Boy, I'm getting old. This is my favorite consignment place (in any city and I've looked in New York, San Francisco, and places in between). I just have good luck here, and the prices are right. This place has a good selection of midlevel-to-designer women's clothes, shoes, coats, purses, and jewelry. Some of it is brand new (either consigned by women who never wore/used it, or perhaps it's liquidation items from local boutiques). Most of this is classic-look women's wear -- there's not much trendy stuff. Some recent purchases: a pair of new Ralph Lauren black ankle boots for $50, a classy sleek leather purse for $40 (people keep saying, "that's a great look -- what designer is that"), a couple of near-new Ellen Tracy jackets for ~$60 each, and jewelry (from brand-name designers like Konstantino etc to costume/dept store jewelry, all at 25-50% below retail). Because inventory turns over quickly, you have to grab it when you see it. I've had times where I've found nothing here, and other times I've spent hundreds of dollars. And I've had times when I didn't buy something and I returned the following day and it was already gone. I strongly suggest you try everything on, since IME one big reason that things end up here, is that the marked size wasn't accurate (shoes too big / too small for their "official" size etc.). So I try on anything I'm interested in, that's within 1 size up or down from my "real" size. Also, be sure to look for any spots, stains or tears -- the employees don't take stuff that they know is damaged, but sometimes they miss something, or it gets damaged in the store (as can happen anywhere). read more

I brought a lot of items here when I first started consigning my shoes and clothing. I thought that I would sell a lot here versus clothes circuit. They accepted most of my items however nothing sold. So I picked up the things that didn't sell and took them over to clothes circuit, where I had consigned some other items. Everything I had sold at clothes circuit. It was mostly designer items so I would think they would do well here. The process was more complex here so I haven't been back. read more

This is a hunter's paradise! If you are looking for a store where the associates are there to pick things out for you and bring them to you, you won't like it. But if you are looking for a designer bargain and love to dig and hunt, you will be in paradise. The store is laid out like any other retail outlet - the most expensive items are in the front, but as you go more towards the back of the store, the more affordable things become. So don't worry if the first thing you see if a dress for $4,300 and a $1,500 purse. Those are just their flagship items. Keep going and you will see some amazing pieces for incredible prices. I was particularly impressed with their dress selection. You will find all major designers at rock bottom prices. I bought two Diane von Furstenberg dresses for $75 each. Hell, yeah! Just make sure you really, really, really like your items - this store does not accept returns. Can't wait to go back during my next trip to Dallas. read more

My mom peddles her wares here. But don't let that dissuade you. I'll give you the inside scoop: They're actually quite selective these days. They will only take things that they know will be in style in the coming seasons, and it cannot look very "loved" at all, so there are no weird stains or smells. You won't find any Gap here (as a matter of principle, they won't take it). I found a designer satin skirt here maybe 6 year ago, and I still have it (although it's a few sizes too small these days :X). Clotheshorse moved to the shopping center where Mi Cocina and Ulta is located. It is worth going to if you love shopping and have patience. Consignment stores require a lot of work and patience but its totally worth it. Try it out if you want to get addicted and never pay full price at a department store again. Oh, and if you its your first time there --- it is absolutely necessary for you to ask the staff how things are categorized there. Ah, Clotheshorse. The very first consignment shop I ever went to, and still continue to patronize today. I came here for the first time in college - 20 (ahem) years ago -- and they remain a favorite of mine for gently worn, upscale, well-made designer clothing and accessories for far, far less than retail. Having said that, I will also add that they can be quite overpriced, even for a consignment store. Twenty years ago, you could get a gorgeous designer wool suit for less than $50, but even when taking inflation into consideration, the same suit today would probably set you back about $100-150. Clotheshorse has a well-deserved reputation for quality and a well-edited selection, but that reputation now comes with a price, so don't expect to come here and get a $75 Chanel jacket. (I did find a $195 Chanel jacket -- a true steal -- but alas, its '80s vintage was too obvious for me to make the investment.) I love browsing through their extensive handbag selection -- Dooney & Bourke, Chanel, Prada, Louis Vuitton, YSL...it's all here, and even quite a few less expensive but still gorgeous middle-grade brands. I've found like-new Marc Jacobs here for less than $125, so if you're patient and are willing to visit often, you WILL be rewarded with the occasional gem at a true bargain price. Again, however, don't expect to score every single time. Oh, and yes, you CAN find mass market clothing here more often than not -- Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, and the like -- but they're surprisingly not much cheaper than what you'd get for them at their original retail shops, especially if you go to the latter during their end-of-season sales, where you can often get absolute steals ($2 for a Banana Republic blouse, anyone?). read more

Clotheshorse by FAR is the best consignment store in DFW that I have been to, and trust me ladies i have been to a few. There are lots of clothes, but it is very organized. Clotheshorse is apart of my monthly shopping routine. If you like good quality clothing but don't want to pay the full price, this is your shop. Everything looks new. I think the prices are extremely fair considering the brands, I mean seriously I bought a Chloe Paddington bag in excellent condition for a 1/4 of what it'd cost at Neimans. She's truly a fan now! On my last visit, I found a beautiful blue Cache dress that fit like a glove AND a great price! It was a win-win. Store is spacious, organized, and clean. Give yourself lots of time Fantastic designer shop jammed full with great stuff. There are very spendy items at the front of the shop that are good deals (Like a $3000 Stella McCartney dress for $800) but out of my reach. But I did get a $700 Missoni dress for $260 and two Tori Burch beachy cotton tops for $25 each. You'll need lots of time to go through the racks of tops, dresses, bags, jackets and everything else. I came here on a whim while I visiting the area and I was impressed. Unlike many consignment shops, this was very clean and orderly. I did find the organization a bit random--I wasn't exactly sure where to look for the brands I wanted to find (i.e. if I'm looking for Marc by Marc Jacobs, I do not want it to be grouped with Escada or Versace). I was impressed with the large number of items that still had their original price tags on them! It seems like the store sells items at about half price...which means that though the clothes are a good deal, they're still pretty expensive. I did not see any "steals" per say. I think the store is perhaps best suited for a slightly older crowd of shoppers. Most of the clothes were very "ladies who lunch." They even had an entire rack of clothes only by St. John. I think this is the absolutely best resale shop. The clothes and accessories are all in close to perfect condition. The prices are a bit higher but I think it's because they are the best brands and in pristine condition. We went this week and my 7 year old daughter wanted to try on every single handbag. The sweet store employee in handbags laughed with her and made suggestions and asked her questions about her preferences. She treated my daughter as though she were a VIP - and we did end up purchasing a bag but she she has no idea we would. I've liked this store each time I've visited!! read more

I purchased the cutest Prada Peep Toe Pumps from here! And a lovely Zara tote! I love to style hunt and they always come through with a few gems. The reason I gave it 1 star is because of the service. I was born and raised in Texas so I'm used to the southern pleasantries that are really just a tolerance mechanism for people that look like me. About that, I'm 4"11, 120 Lbs (oh, and I'm black) but apparently my presence made me a target for passive aggressive customer service tactics. (The greeting acknowledging you've been seen followed by being followed and watched the entire time I was in the store. When I came to the register I was asked for me phone number to sign up for the rewards program but I declined because this will be my last time visiting this store. There are a dozen other local stores that I can give my business to. But I know all too well how this goes. Their pockets won't be affected so their actions will go unnoticed Or unchecked. There are resale stores and then there is Clotheshorse Anoymous. In the way that there are cars and then there are Maybachs. First, the location is perfect, on the corner of a shopping center with ample parking right outside the door. The interior is bright and well lit. The racks are brilliantly arranged by certain names (I was seeking St. John and thrilled two see two full rounds segregated by size) other cache names and then some simply in 'designer'. They run the gamut from simple scarves to spectacular furs, gowns and statement pieces. I came just about an hour from closing. They have great policies with the cessation of fitting rooms 15 minutes prior to closing and allowing up to 10 pieces at a time. I selected 28 pieces and tried each on, quickly dividing into buy and pass. The associate on dressing room detail did a fabulous job of keeping up with each decision and aiding me with final details, such as zipping up or out of an outfit as needed. The dressing rooms themselves are a nice size with heavy draperies as a 'door' that are easy to navigate if you prefer to exit and use the three angle mirror vs. the full length one provided in each room. There is also an area for other ladies with who you may be shopping to be comfortably seated as you try on various items. There are upholstered benches for husbands and boyfriends. My husband said he was quite comfortable for the hour he sat as I zipped in and out with various items for the nod of approval (or not) and was offered beverages several times as well. The staff is attentive, helpful and efficient. They have a wonderful system of tagging and pricing, so if there is a discount on a certain color tag, it is scanned as such in the check out and you don't have to recall what was discounted and how much it is which is lovely. Too many consignment stores put that on the shopper. Selection was great! Prices were exactly what I would expect. I bought half a dozen pants of the same brand, but they were priced based on the type of pant, not just blindly priced, which I appreciate. I am not one to impulsively purchase, but there was a most luxurious oversized cashmere wrap that just called to me from the rack to the left of the register and I added it to my new pieces and it is already a favorite of mine I know I will love for years to come! I looked on the internet and saved about 60%, which to me, is money that stayed in the bank! Wonderful, gracious employees who have a 'concierge' level of service and offer helpful ideas and encourage you to try something that might not wow on the hanger, but certain do once on you. I live several states away, I already know I will be back to shop here in the not too distant future! If you are anywhere in Texas, why are you not shopping here, too? read more

I love this store. I always stop by if I am in the area to browse and sometimes buy their designer goods. They always have the best high end designer bags that are clean and good condition. They also run sales at times and that is how I scored on a designer bag which has a msrp of $1200 and it was marked down so much I bought it for $125 which was a total steal. The store is clean with fancy and roomy dressing rooms which feel like you are in a boutique. The staff is wonderful and a joy to talk too. They also greet you when you walk into their store which is not what I can say for Clothes Circuit whom were very rude. read more

The clothes and prices are great, but the level of service makes the experience just not worth it. I dropped in to look for a very specific item and had my husband's credit card instead of mine. When I went to pay, the girl explained that I couldn't use his card. I understood and asked her to hang on to the item. My husband was nearby and we could swing back in on our way home. She assured me they would set it aside til the evening and it would be there when I came back. I came back with my husband less than an hour later and there was a line for the register. I waited patiently for someone to help me and when someone was able to talk to me, I asked about my dress. The girl that helped me this time was the same girl from earlier. She seemed uninterested in helping me and told me it might be awhile. I continued to wait by the counter and she then looked over with annoyance that I was still standing there and said I should go look around until they had time for me. I explained that I only wanted my dress that was put aside and did not need anything else. The girl told me it was not behind the counter and I should go look for it myself. I found it back on the same rack I had pulled it from earlier. No one apologized until I made a point of telling them how unhappy I was and even then the apology was insincere. I was so angry, I could barely speak and I could tell the two girls behind the counter did not care whether or not I had a positive experience. I am sure the regular customers are fine with being treated that way, I am not. I don't care how busy you are, customer service should not suffer and common courtesy requires no time at all. I have worked in retail clothing management for years and would not have allowed such treatment in one of my stores. Every customer deserves to be treated like the most important customer in the store, no matter how busy you are or what your mood is. read more

In terms of upscale resale, I think this is the best in Dallas. Very organized, always a sale, fashion is ON POINT. If I am shopping for a specific event, I ALWAYS find several options to choose from in a reasonable price range. Recent events Interview: When I really want a job, I like to wear a suit but I don't like the typical black suit you might find at Banana Republic, I like something unique, stylish, yet conservative. I want to set myself apart. In less than an hour, I was able to find a grey suit. The belted jacket had a high collar and snaps internally for a clean look. It also had a lace panel on the interior. No one can see the lace but it's there just to make you feel that much special about what you are wearing. The skirt was what sold me. It was a pencil like skirt with about 6 slits all the way around and a lace panel that was under. I wore it with a black slip and it was absolutely darling. What's even better, when I got to the register, it was on sale. YAYAYYAYA!!!! Cost: $115 That trip I also found a pair of like new suede Michael Kors boots for $30 - Wait till you see them. DO NOT CONSIGN HERE!! AWFUL. As Background: I have been consigning clothes at Clotheshorse for 15 years. I have learned a ton from their management in the past as they reviewed what I brought in, chatted with me about what was selling, and taught me about such things as the difference between male and female minks (when fur was still popular). So I was actually looking forward to dropping clothes off this week. I'm in real estate - an industry that is full of well dressed people - and I spend a fortune on my clothes. I consign an average of once/year. I recently lost weight and had a lot of items in this particular drop-off, my first in a over a year. I left the store very upset. The young woman working was awful. She refused to wait on me when I arrived even though no one else was present and she was checking her cell phone when I walked in. I stood and waited for 5-10 minutes while she ignored me. Clotheshorse never takes everything I bring in. They are picky and always have been. But this woman would not look at all my clothes. She seemed very angry that I had brought so much in and just would not go through most of my things. I was reduced to pulling items out and pointing out the designer and age of the items. The icing on the cake was when I walked in with my last load: she pulled a flowered shell top from my rack that still had the tags on it (never been worn, bought at Nordstrom last fall), made a disgusted face, and dropped the top like it was the ugliest thing she'd ever seen. I was utterly humiliated, she did not apologize, and I slunk back to my car with as many clothes as I could carry, embarrassed and ashamed of what I'd brought because there must have been something hideously wrong with me or my clothes or both. Because this condescending, nasty woman would not look at my clothes, I left with a ton of designer items I only bought last fall which are now too big for me. Tory Burch tops I'd worn once. Lafayette 148 New York - too many items to mention - all expensive and relatively new. I'm over my humiliation and now I'm just angry. There is never an excuse for being unkind to people. Never an excuse for condescension. Never an excuse for meanness or deliberate attempts to make someone feel inadequate or ugly. The 3 times I have sold at Clotheshorse, I was always greeted by smiling friendly buyers. About 90%+ of the things I have brought in have been accepted, & I receive very nice checks each month from my items that sell in their store. This business is very organized, professional, & it smells nice. If you have clothing to sell, I recommend trying out this place! read more

After posting my negative review, the store's owner responded in a private message to me that was pleasantly surprising. I applaud all business owner who respond to negative reviews, but most are obviously scripted and less than heartfelt. Not so in this case: her lengthy message was sincere and much too specific to be scripted. She assured me that she has incorporated my suggestions into staff training and even shared my review with the whole staff. Here's the amazing part: she even offered me a gift card! When does that ever happen? My faith in customer service has been restored. Thank you to the ladies at Clotheshorse for taking the time to make an unhappy customer happy and I will recommend my friends (and readers) shop there for great finds. read more
