Hello all, I want to update my review for 2 reasons. 1) everyone has a different response to massage technique/pressure and I do try lean to the more sensitized side. My girl friend who was receiving her treatment next to me had a very different (So Happy) experience. And 2) I SO appreciate a business who reaches out to make something "better". It's been a year since I wrote my first review and thankfully Could 9 is still here! Yay for us! I've now had over 30 massages at Cloud 9 and every single one has been between a 9 and 10 (90% were a 10+). When my very favorite masseuse Louis left, I was afraid my happy days were at an end. Not so - I've tried three other masseuses since then and each one has been terrific, especially given the price. Talk about being priced competitively! I'm afraid some people will look at the price and wonder about the quality. Well - I've had a few massages at the nearby Ritz Carlton, paid over $100 each time, and the massages at Cloud 9 are every bit as good, and often better, than the Ritz. All you coastside locals - stop by and try out Cloud 9 - and then keep coming back. I'm a huge fan, tell everyone I know about them, and hope we can keep them long term by getting the word out. After writing an email and never hearing back, I decided to share my experience on Yelp. My "massage" there on March 12th was one of the most unforgettable experiences at this establishment. My massage therapist, Cindy was so unprofessional. First, she was pushing on parts of my body so hard I felt like I was a piece of cheese and she was grading me. It was so rough and painful, for three days I was unable to sleep on my back, have anyone touch me, let alone do anything active- my body was in that much pain. When Cindy would go to massage my neck, she just grabbed it, squeezed it and was not gentle at all- she was pushing my face into the massage table. When the "hot towel" was to be used, she didn't even let it cool off in her hands, she placed it on my back still folded and hot. She had then began to clean the massage oil off me with a scorching hot towel- I had even jumped a little! I am beside myself with how unprofessional and careless Cindy was in the massage session. This place is such a gem. I just returned after being vaccinated. Boy did I miss it. Super easy to book, incredibly peaceful environment, heated massage beds and blankets, water features running during your massage, and masseuses and masseures that do an incredibly thorough job working all your stress and tension knots out. I was treated to a foot massage for my birthday at Cloud9. The location is a bit funky but once you get in the decor was very nice and clean. My massage therapist was very good. I do like this place. It's very affordable, and I love that it's open late. Last time I went in for an hour foot massage I had a pretty sucky experience. There was so much noise that I couldn't relax. I heard two people having a conversation really loudly and I eventually took the towel off my face to see what was going on and it was two employees casually conversing and laughing. They noticed me looking at them and then started whispering but eventually got louder and louder again. People were running around and slamming things. It was not a relaxing experience at all. I am so disappointed in the service my friends and I had last Saturday. I often come here with 3 or 4 friends from San Francisco. They come and visit me once a month and we all have a massage here. This last experience was awful. I had Mae- and another lady. I booked for David and Mae said David was busy, so I agreed. The massage session was mediocre at best and they completed the massage for my friends and I in 50 minutes. We came at 7pm and they finished at 750 pm. Went back a second time, tried the foot massage this time. Still an hour, just not super satisfied this time they person seemed new and didnt seem to know how to actually massage. Just kept pressing my body? Wow - I am SO disappointed with the massage I had today. I've been going here for over 7 years, and I can't remember ever being disappointed with any of my massages (except for one time when the guy had the worst gas and kept farting the whole time but... what can you do!?! At least he gave a good massage!) Today's massage was one of the worst massages I have ever had in my entire life. The "massage therapist" May was awful. She clearly did not understand the difference between bones and muscles. My guess is she is not certified - she just had absolutely no idea what she was doing. There were several times that I almost stopped the massage. The entire thing was completely bizarre. It was almost as if she had never even given a massage before, never received a massage, and had no idea what a massage even was. I should have seen Cindy, who is awesome, but she was not working today, so I took a chance. Huge mistake. I am honestly concerned that May did actual damage to my body. If the massages don't work out for you, don't bother complaining. Management is nonexistent and probably won't compensate you. By the time they get your complaint, it would have been weeks maybe a month out that they can get away with not compensating. Had my massage on Sunday. My boyfriend didn't enjoy it. He got a bruise shortly and messed up his neck. I wrote an email and haven't received anything for a week.
