Honestly one of the best meals I had in Paris. We hobbled offer to this restaurant a day after running the Paris Marathon in Oct 2021 and to were greeted with exceptionally fluffy bread, beautifully plated dishes, and exquisitely designed desserts. Standout by far was the miso-glazed pigeon, and a very memorable cow brain dish in the style of tofu with dashi broth. Service was attentive but casual, and we had lovely bistro seating outdoors.

A gastronomic feast in a lively atmosphere and affordable price! Staff was English speaking and very friendly. Wine by the glass was all phenomenal from the orange to the rouge. The squid salad wasn't what I expected but was still delightful. It was calamari (breaded and fried which I would have thought too ordinary to get here had I known) but with a delightful horseradish sauce and greens. The pigeon was incredible. Anyone that complains that it is too gamey hasn't had pigeon as it was perfectly flavorful. The contrasting sauce was also amazing. Would come back again gladly!

We went to Clown Bar on our first night in Paris! The food was absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly and spoke English to us and helped to accommodate to all of my allergies which was great. The bar itself is very cute and unique with quirky clowns painted on the tile around the bar. Highly recommend!

***DISREGARD NEGATIVE REVIEWS*** I have been waiting 6 years to try their foie gras pie, and everything else on the menu for that matter, and the entire experience was perfect. Each dish was spectacular and we really wanted to return the next day to try all that we missed. *SERVICE was very friendly and attentive. They were happy to suggest wine for us in English. Our dessert was 30 minutes but obviously due to a huge amount of guests ordering food at the same time. Their kitchen is TINY, it's OK to wait for the super fresh, beautifully plated and wildly creative cuisine.* TIP -Go for lunch at first seating. We were a 2-top and the first to arrive and were seated at the best table (window). There wasn't a bad table to be honest, outside was heated and the bar seemed like a lot of fun to watch the action. The tables are close together, but this is an urban French restaurant! (You'll have to get used to that unless you can afford to spend double the price for 2 Michelin Star spaciousness) Thanks to the chef and Le Clown Bar staff for a wonderful memory of our time in Paris!

Ever since I heard about their veal brain, I wanted to come. I went on a Sunday when it opened (530p) and sat at the bar. It's a small restaurant and serves typical French cuisine. Staff were nice and the wine selection was great. French bread is so good and Clown Bar's bread helps solidify that opinion. They serve you warm fresh bread that's delicious. I got their seasonal white asparagus which melted in my mouth. Their charcoal tempura is a must get - it's warm and cooked perfectly. Their squid over squid ink and greens were also delicious. Their menu is small and every dish is well made. Dessert was great too - got the chocolate mousse which wasn't that sweet and super airy. It was delicious. Let's talk about the veal brain. Yep, it's a brain and it might make you nauseous when you're served it. Looks aside, it was pretty good. It's in a vinegar broth and the texture is really light - almost like a mousse. Glad I tried it.

Good food, friendly staff. Terribly place to go if you have food allergies. Their menu is limited and not easily accommodated if you need to eat dairy free. There are so many wonderful places in Paris that can better accommodate allergies, don't waste a stop here unless you are one of those blessed with an iron stomach.

Very creative food! Decent service and a pretty varied menu. I came here mainly for the foie gras/duck breast pithivier and the veal brain in tosazu (told myself i would never eat brain as a child, but I just had to try it). The brain was OK, mostly tasted like tofu with similar texture. The pithivier is great, but quite rich - share it if you can (my girlfriend only had a bite so I had to take one for the team). Their steak tartare on burrata though is easily one of the best tartares I've ever had. It's a cool spot though, if you're willing to try new and different dishes in a bar type environment.

Everything we ordered was perfectly fine the way I want my pigeon, sardines, lobsters and even the veal brain! Talented chef!

We all love Clown Bar don't we? The great addition to last year's hot new openings. As soon as they (re)opened it with the chef Atsumi , it was talked about among friends in Paris and also in Tokyo. So I had to check it out. Great Parisian neo-bistro vibe with Belle Époque décor + Japanese speaking French staff ( I mean fluent ) friendly service... already can't go wrong.. Great true to the taste dishes with bio-natural wines. There is a bit of twist of fusion in it of course but all done deliciously. Oh that pithivier - pie ! so rich and is a must! I can just come back for that. Scallops were nice too. The potion is pretty generous. For me dessert is always an important factor and yes I liked it a lot, subtle and refreshing. This place will never disappoint you - what they serve you are all $$$$ restaurant quality or could be better ;) , outstanding. Better to book in advance as it is already a popular place. Good that they open on Sundays.

The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.

THE FOOD ------------------…read more= Fermier - Cheese gratin with chicken was good. Didn't blow me away, but was solid with the creaminess of the sliced potatoes and emmental cheese combined together with mixed vegetables. The cheese was very strong though, so anything else was unfortunately pretty much overpowered by it. Arrived with bread, but it DEFINITELY could use other carb options to sop it all up (e.g., rice???)! = Landais - Cheese gratin with duck. Same comment as the above, except the Landais had egg and goat cheese also mixed in with almost the same ingredients as the Fermier. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + The lone waitress, who also worked the role as greeter, cashier and bartender was friendly. + Food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ = Small, tight restaurant. = Not many tables inside - 6 in total. + Located a few blocks away from the more touristy restaurants, towards the East, on a much quieter street. We started with the ratatouille and freshly baked bread, both simple but incredibly well executed and full of depth. The duck steak with roasted potatoes was perfectly cooked--the duck tender with a beautifully crisp exterior, and the potatoes were exceptional in their own right. The gambas flambées with rice were a standout dish: rich, aromatic, and genuinely memorable. For dessert, the chocolate mousse paired with strawberry soup was a highlight and a unique combination that worked surprisingly well together--the richness of the mousse balanced beautifully by the freshness of the strawberries. Service was friendly and attentive throughout, and the restaurant has a lively, bustling atmosphere filled with both locals and visitors, giving it a classic Parisian energy. Reservations are highly recommended as it books out quickly, though occasional cancellations can be found if you're flexible. No real plans. Just walking. Cigarette smoke in the air, scooters passing narrow streets, old stone buildings glowing under soft afternoon light. Online, this place feels impossible to book. But show up 10-15 minutes before opening and suddenly you're seated like you knew the secret all along. Inside, the room hums. Tight tables. Warm walls. Loud enough to feel alive without becoming chaotic. Nobody rushing. Nobody flipping tables. Just the rhythm of Paris doing what it's always done. The menu is entirely in French which, honestly, makes the experience better. You stop ordering with certainty and start ordering with curiosity. My wife had the risotto d'épeautre aux St. Jacques. I ordered the Magret de Canard au Romarin. The duck was solid. A 3.5/5 kind of dish. Rich, savory, comforting after a long day walking through the city. But the risotto surprised me more. The scallops were delicate, the spelt added this earthy texture that made the dish feel substantial without ever becoming heavy. And then there's the mousse au chocolat. The famous one. Served from an oversized bowl with this almost excessive "all you can eat" energy that somehow still feels elegant instead of gimmicky. We only needed a few bites. Soft, luxurious, lightly bitter chocolate balanced perfectly against just enough sweetness. The kind of dessert that doesn't ask for attention. It quietly earns it.

We sat in the back (not the very back), but the front area looks very cozy --mostly reserved for French speakers, it appeared. We ate here twice in one week. Once on our own, and once with friends visiting Paris the same week as us. Two VERY different experiences. The first experience was lovely, friendly, and absolutely delicious. 4.5 stars. Simple classic French cuisine. We shared the mini raviolis stuffed with mushroom and a foie gras sauce. Wow. And shared their famous beef bourguignon. The tender beef, the sauce! I love the way they plate it too. Delicious. And a bottle of Cabernet Franc from Bourgueil (Loire Valley). The second visit (3 star) was very different from the first visit. Less friendly, borderline rude, took a long while for table service even though it was not busy, rolled their eyes about us sharing and at our wine bottle selection. We didn't feel welcomed. Food remains good, but not outstanding. Roll of the dice on service. I'd say if you're in the area and you don't have to wait it'd be worthwhile, otherwise seek a less touristy spot.
