What started as a great night ended up one of my worst nights here in Texas. We had great drinks…read moreand bartenders were great but towards the end of the night it went downhill very fast. I had bought a drink after 2 am as it was the last call for alcohol and bartender sold it to me. I walked with my drink in my hand towards the club inside called Avalon and stood outside of it by the dance floor. Then an older man (busboy) came up to my friends and I and ordered us to finish our drinks right then and there because he was picking up the glasses. Mind you he still had plenty of other glasses he still had to pick up. Most of my friends did finish their drinks right then and there but I couldn't finish it fast enough as it was cold and it was giving me brain freeze. He kept rushing me and I told him once I was done I would take it up to the nearest bar. He became super snarky and said I couldn't do that. I kept trying to drink my drink as fast as I could and he decided to snatch my drink (that I had bought) out of my hand. I have never in my life been so humiliated and upset in my life. I bet he wouldn't have done that to a make counterpart. I was so upset I began to cry because I've never been put in a situation like that especially since it was a male and he was so aggressive. I went up to the head bouncer and my friend explained the situation, all that was said was that he would be spoken to. Honestly I don't plan to step foot in a place like that where there is aggressive males especially workers. Deeply disappointed especially since I'm visiting from California and it was my first time ever stepping foot in this establishment.

Even though my friend and I had the most clothes on of all the women in the whole place, we still got plenty of attention. We went on Valentine's weekend though, so pretty much everyone was already coupled. We only paid for our first round of drinks, and it was about $10 for two mixed drinks. The night turned out ok because we got to chill in the DJ booth, and he played reggaeton at my request and I got to dance and flirt with the one hot guy in the whole place. Overall, the people and staff were generous and accommodating. Super causal bar/night club with live music that charges $10 for admission (go through the…read morerestaurant side). We stumbled in there on a Friday night when Mars Hill was playing. Not knowing what to expect, we were pleasantly surprised. Mars Hill is a killer band who plays anything from the Temptations to Prince and Sir Mix-a-Lot to Chris Stapleton. The female lead singer was the rocker, male lead singer was the country star, and the trumpet player, saxophonist, and trombonist each rapped! What?! The guitar player killed it as well. There's a small strip of "dance floor" space where plenty of people were dancing all night. There's reentry so feel free to come and go as you please. I believe you can also bring food from next door into the bar. There are over 10 small tables you can gather around for a close up of the band. Our server was really nice and quick. The only questionable thing was that we ordered four Old-Fashioned, one Shiner, and three shots totalling $120. I think that's pretty hefty for a casual joint. I heard they play jazz only on Mondays.
