The teachers are excellent--they challenge you, teach you new things, and walk around and check on you. Also, they put on great music. Tried the free intro beginner's class and really enjoyed it. The instructor gave a clear overview of the machines, and I much preferred the Reformer to mat Pilates. The studio is compact but well-equipped, located in the Peninsula Center across from Target. Great intro rate but I am not in the area enough to make use of a membership (and it can't be used at the CP location I am closest to). read more

Lisa deserves 5 stars, but studio management leaves a lot to be desired. They are extremely slow in responding to emails and needs. It takes weeks to get a response. And the responses are not helpful. I've been attending for over a year. It's not cheap, so the least they can do it comply with small requests especially when classes fill up fast and you are waitlisted and then notified last minute if you make it off the waitlist. read more

I have no concern about the trainers but have major concerns about the management of the club. I have never experienced an organization as poorly managed as this one. It is very difficult to contact people directly, and when I do manage to reach them, they are unresponsive and simply tell me to email any issues. The most recent example involved my wife visiting the club on August 29th, only to be told she was banned from attending classes because payment had supposedly not been made since August 7th. This is false. I provided proof of payment, yet I have still received no response. read more

I went to an intro class that was wonderful so i signed up to try 3 classes to see if i wanted to commit to a membership. Well i just did the 1st class and it was beyond awful. The instructor was Cat and although i told her that i'd only taken 1 other class, she moved thru the moves in a way that was hard to follow and it would have been nice to maybe check-in or even help me with the equipment but i can muddle thru. At one point, Cat had me move reformers in the middle of class because the one i was on had improperly set straps (which she kindly said was probably my doing lol). The worst part of the class was that it involved sooo little actual reformer work. We warmed up for a couple of minutes on the reformer and then spent nearly the entire class doing leg lifts and abs on a mat. I kept looking at my watch wondering when the pilates portion was going to start ..it was literally 45 min of mat work. I have a home gym, a tempo AI mirror that does live classes, and a membership at equinox...I came to club pilates to work on the reformer....super disappointing. This was not pilates...it was a light stretching and abs class designed for older folks. I would never pay for that ...I can do that at home or take mat classes at equinox. When I realized with 10 minutes left in the class that i was not going to get any legit reformer work in, i got up to quietly leave. I was done and trying to slide out without a fuss. Nope...Cat announced my departure and then left her class to follow me, telling me i had to "clean up". I said "ok" hoping she'd go back to her class but she kept going and said "I'm sorry you didn't get it...you can't put your shoes back on because you have to clean up. I can't allow you in the class with your shoes". She was clearly miffed that i was leaving before the end of class and it was like she came out to try to bully me....it was kind of shocking. Definitely not returning to this studio. read more

This pilates studio was okay... it wasn't for me. I would recommend for an older crowd. I didn't feel like I did a workout because it wasn't very hard (plus my Apple workout said I only burned 50 calories, so you know my heart wasn't pumping). This is a chill place and not many standing workouts, lots of laying on the reformer machine). They have lots of different time slots for pilates classes throughout the day. Prices are about $30 a class. This location is located across from Target. There is a huge lot of free parking. My instructor was nice and friendly. I probably won't come back, but if you're into slower, easier workouts then this place is for you! read more

Wonderful place to do Pilates. Been part of the Studio since Sai was there. A great variety of instructors. Tina is always a pleasant site to see when you walk in. Always clean. Great variety of classes to fit your schedule. Cat is a fantastic teacher. I see that people have their opinions about her but I don't think they are warranted. Cat will tell you how it is. If she thinks you're not qualified for the advanced class, she'll tell you because she doesn't want you to get hurt. I respect that and a lot of other members do as well. Some people have issues hearing the truth, even if it saves them from getting injured. read more

I've been here for two years now. Once you get dialed in on the instructors you like, it's great. I did Crossfit at a high level for many years prior, so it first Pilates felt too easy. However, you start to learn that "slow is hard" and if you're engaging the right muscles and going slow, you'll notice your body building a lot of lean muscle. Even if classes are waitlisted, you can almost always get in because people drop. The location is convenient, the instructors are nice and caring, and I've really enjoyed my experience of attending more than 250 classes at this point. read more

DO NOT GO TO CLUB PILATES!!! A racist, disrespectful and POORLY trained "instructor", bullies clients of color and is currently STILL working and "teaching" classes after I notified the owner of the incident. I'm writing this one week after an extremely unpleasant event occurred at Club Pilates on October 17th when my mom and I took a class with a "well known" instructor. Not only did she ridicule and embarrass my mom throughout the ENTIRETY of the class, she ONLY picked on my mom out of the 7-8 other ladies in the class. Perhaps it was because we were the only Hispanic people in there. It was our first Pilates class so my mom and I were confused on some of the terminology and moves. When the instructor told my mom to "pick up the pace and stop holding the class back" my mom told her she was confused. The instructor RESPONDED WITH, "Well (moms name), I'm just a dumb American, who only speaks one language and that's English. And if you're in MY class and you can speak English, then you should be able to understand what's going on". We should have left right then and there but my mom and I couldn't process what was happening. I told my mom to ask the instructor how to modify the exercises as the instructor was almost pushing my mom to go harder (a good pilates instructor does not do that to an injured client). Once my mom asked the instructor, she immediately got an attitude and called my mom a control freak saying, "(Moms name), you might be a control freak outside of this class but in here I'M the boss and I tell you what to do. I bet you didn't tell your teacher in school how to teach her class, did you?" And proceeded to instruct the class!!! Our experience continued with the instructor referring to my mom as her injury - saying "Ok Miss Sciatica, let's continue". Other women in the class laughed. It was embarrassing and hurtful. As class ended, the instructor reached to adjust my moms ankles, with my mom pulling her legs away and asking her to tell her what to do rather than readjust her feet due to her injury. The instructor deliberately grabbed and pressed down on my moms injured ankle, knowing that she could not tolerate pressure after I had told her the beginning of class AND when she went to grab her foot. We left immediately after. Isn't a competent instructor supposed to be empathetic and knowledgeable on pain, understand the limitations of an injured body and appropriately instructing groups? It has been an absolute nightmare attempting to rightfully be refunded and have a simple discussion with those who work at Club Pilates. I spent the last week trying to get a refund and after reading the reviews on Yelp... immediately proceeded to go to my bank and block them as they are known for continuing to charge. I still have not received my refund after I have made the effort to make phone calls and leave messages. My friend who signed up with me has also yet to hear back from the owner or others. Save yourself the embarrassment, anger, and disrespect of attending this establishment. read more

TLDR: believe the other reviews calling out blatant discrimination and poor treatment of customers. If you are wondering about the sudden increase in four and five star reviews it's because the instructors have been forced to ask us to write good reviews to offset all the one stars during classes. It is a shame because it's not the instructor's fault, the management here is just so terrible that they are really the reason I'd never return. They have a policy where you have to write a formal email to cancel your membership 30 days prior, but they don't check their email or answer phones for weeks at a time so you end up getting charged for more months. After expressing that I wanted to cancel my membership due to PREGNANCY and medical reasons the manager refused to cancel my membership through an apparent "misunderstanding" and I was charged for three more months. I then expressed concern over the charges on January 2nd and was told that there was nothing they could do (aka they don't care) and would still charge me yet another month on January 29th despite knowing that I wasn't going to use the membership at all this month. After countless emails and phone calls they said the best they could do was offer me more credits to take more classes despite me repeatedly explaining that I am not comfortable taking classes at this point in my pregnancy. They do not care about their customers and will not accommodate ESPECIALLY for pregnant women. The other reviews claiming discrimination are absolutely true and this studio along with redondo (who is under the same management) needs to be investigated. STAY AWAY! read more

I have attended the Redondo Beach Club Pilates Studio for over a year. I had never done pilates before, but I thought it was time to get back into an exercise routine. The app and how you book classes keep you honest with yourself. There is no time for laziness within 12 hours of a booked class; you're going or paying a fine. So, who loses here? It's only you because somewhere or at some time when you signed up, you committed yourself to do this...for whatever reason, and if you don't follow through with that commitment, then you only have yourself to blame. If you are committed and don't listen to the gossip and silly reviews about petty things or misinterpretations of a contract, you will see a change in yourself for the better. It's a workout, not a social club. There will be trainers you adore and others who are not your cup of tea. You book the classes, and you choose that instructor. If I don't like an instructor, I don't take their class. Simple! A true commitment is at least 8 classes, if not the unlimited package. But look at the class availability before you sign up, and be sure it fits into your personal schedule. This studio works for my lifestyle. Try it! Pilates For Life is my motto. And by the way, bring your friends (everyone is welcome). There are free intro classes, but you must bring or buy grippy socks. See You There! read more

I sent my first email on September 9th requesting a membership freeze due to a broken ankle, but I haven't received a responds after sending many reminders to palosverdes@clubpilates.com. I even called the Palos Verdes club and they told me I had to wait for an email response. You charged me membership fees on September 16th no problem, but you can't respond. If you ever call me I will request to cancel my membership. Your customer service is TERRIBLE and I don't want to get charged again. I hope this gets to someone that can help me. This place has no customer service, no management, nobody that can actually answer you or help you with your problems with them, they go ahead and charge you without letting you know for the stuff you don't even know it's possible to get charge for!! I paid for unlimited because they said you can have any class all the time, it's a lie! You have to join waitlist and be hoping to get in the classes. I was able to go 2 class during a whole month of pay! It's a nightmare and when you call the number they have it's an answering mashin service!!!!! it's completely fraud!! You call the number and they tell you that they are not responsible they just answer the phone and pass your message along to whom?? Is there any resolution??? Anybody get back to you???? No!!!! Club Pilates is my second home. I have been going since last May, and I can't say enough good things about this place! Since I attend about 10 classes per week, I've gotten to know a lot of the instructors. They are all amazing!! I particularly spend a lot of time with Cat (4 classes per week), and I have to say she is EXTREMELY knowledgeable. Her experience allows her to differentiate based on the various levels of the students in class. She is a stickler for properly doing the exercises to gaurantee everyone's safety. She gives individualized attention and corrections to those who need them, and sticks with a person for as long as they need to properly do the exercise. Sure, she's a little sarcastic. But I grew up in the east coast and happen to appreciate her sense of humor. I highly recommend this studio to anyone in the area. read more

The management at this studio is horrible and makes up fake policies that are not written in the contract they have you sign. It's very unfortunate because the instructors and the studio itself are amazing. I did a 3 month contract and decided to cancel because I'm moving and the studio would be too far away. In order to cancel you have to provide 30 day notice which is fine. I agreed that I'd pay until the end of April but when i asked to change my status from unlimited to 4 classes they REFUSED. The reason being that it was their policy not to change membership status after you cancel. This is not outlined ANYWHERE in the contract yet they hold you responsible for it. A professional owner abides by their legal contract. Both my father and brother in law are lawyers and I was so close to getting them involved but figured it's not worth my time. Hopefully this review helps someone decide if they want the headache of dealing with billing issues. Like i said, very unfortunate because all the instructors are so nice and professional. read more

This review is for management. Most of the instructors are knowledgeable and patient and the facility is clean. I really enjoyed my workouts. Management- The owner is nice when he's trying to get you to sign up. However, once signed up, I had problems with billing from the beginning and getting him to fix the clear error was a struggle and the communication short and rude. All done via email since no one answers the phone. I've also had issues with the app. There's clearly a feature to switch from unlimited booking to class by class booking. They often forget to switch it and it causes issues. I recently had my account reactivated and I immediately notified them I had been charged for the month but unable to book classes. I was told to delete the app and download it again, no luck. Sign out and sign back in, no luck. I asked them to refund the month since I couldn't book classes and restart the next month. They ignored this. It's the end of the month and the only remedy is to email them every time I want to book, change, or cancel. I don't know who has time do that but I don't. Amazing they can charge a few hundred dollars and enforce every rule but can't accommodate or find a way to fix their app. The customer service is abysmal and indifferent and they want to keep your money at all costs. If they had remedied this issue, I would have actually kept the membership instead of canceling and I do believe that's why they are indifferent to remedying my issue - because I canceled. A lot of this could be cleared up and explained and discussed in detail..if they answered the phone! The workouts are not worth the headache. I'd suggest you go elsewhere for your workout needs. read more

I received the following confirmation text: (My name) could you please confirm your arrival tomorrow at Club Pilates we have a certain amount of reformers and if you are not confirming someone else can atten. The tone of this text was very unwelcoming! I know it's small and limited space, but to basically say someone else can come was unwarranted. We're also asked by expert instructors which area of our bodies do we want to work on,which is nice. Classes are 50 minutes of fun. The time flies fast. In addition to this, their energy is positive and encouraging. They're never too crowded. I book my classes online. There they practice social distancing PLUS the studio is EXTREMELY CLEAN AND SANITIZED!!! Club Pilates is my Happy Healthy Place. And they also offer affordable private classes. I came in today for a fund raiser. My daughter in law has been trying to get me to do this class. She was told by the owner Tina that anyone can go, any level. I showed up 15 minutes early in case I needed to sign any waivers. When I arrived there was no staff there. I stood at the front waiting for about 5 minutes. Finally a person came out of the bathroom and started working out. I finally looked in and asked if she worked here and is there a fund raiser today. She said yes and the instructor for that class would be in soon. No "Hi, welcome to our club". Nope just kept working out. Finally another person came in, did say Hi and walked in to talk with the other instructor. They complained about Tina and how she did not promote the event and how she did not tell Kat the 8am class was a fund raiser. When Kat came out to finally welcome us and get our names, I told her I never did Pilates. She was very condescending to me and said "Seriously!!!" I said yes seriously I have not done this. She told me not so nicely "Oh no I can't let you take this class. You have never been here before?" I said no. She said "You have to sign waivers and that kinda stuff". Mind you I showed up early just in case I needed to do that. At this point I have had it and let Kat know they are a "Shit show". Very unwelcoming for a business holding a fund raiser. This place could really benefit on some people skills classes. Remember you are representing a business that relies on membership. This experience made me feel very unwelcome even though we are donating to their fund raiser. I am very disappointed by this staff. Get it together Club Pilates!!! read more

The ONLY reason I'm writing a review and giving it a 5 star because of Cat and Petra.      I begin with Cat, her KNOWLEDGE and EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE of over 25+ years of being a Pilate's instructor is admirable.  It's challenging these days to find TRUE EXPERTS and passionate instructor's (far n between) such as Cat.      Secondly, Petra, is by far the most challenging instructor and a different type of mix of Pilates she brings to each class! If you're up for the challenge (I sincerely say this, it's a PERSONAL CHALLENGE) and break a good sweat, then Petra is the class you want to take.  GREAT instructor as well.    Both of these instructors are truly AMAZING and straight up legit human beings.  Truly the owners should be grateful in trying much harder KEEPING such instructors.      Lastly, the great thing about Club Pilates there's an instructor for EVERYONE and the freedom to CHOOSE who you LIKE to help you build your strength and sculpt your body.   If you're in the right frame of mind it's up to YOU putting the effort.  It's not the other way around- It's a life style of fitness, health and overall wellbeing.  It's a personal choice to start or end your day.  It's a community where we truly enjoy each other and motivated one another through the guidance of any instructors you like.     As for management, no comments.  You can make your own opinion and see it with your own eyes to make that call.     I hope this review helps and motivates you to choose the right studio for you. read more

The instructors are all great, however the owner, Sai, is terrible! He will tell you whatever you want to hear and then go back on his word. He has lied several times to me when I've asked him direct questions. He is rude and lacks people skills. The studio is small and not always clean. Classes have been canceled multiple times within an hour of the class starting. I'm surprised the Club Pilates name allows these kinds of practices because it reflects on their brand.
