I was invited to come as a guest, so I can't speak as a paying member. The club was incredible: I spent most of my time watching the giraffes. They also had monkeys, a petting zoo, flamingos, exotic birds, penguins.... I might have missed some there were just so many. The kids arcade was cool because it's essentially free play. There was also a bowling alley and it looked like a water slide but it was closed that day. Tennis courts everywhere and pickleball courts too. I didn't see the gym. The food they offered wasn't the greatest for how much they charge but I didn't pay for anything so maybe it was just the food that they provided that was mediocre. We did ask the staff to cook the pizza some more as it was kind of undercooked and doughy and the staff was extremely nice and didn't have a problem helping us out. I spoke to one of the members while I was relaxing in the patio area and he was telling me about all of the events for members that are free with the membership. Really cool place. read more

I am back to write again about the horrible state of the women's locker room. The entire women's locker room should be condemned. Almost every single shower is lined with mold. The vents are lined with mold. Most of the lockers rarely work. The carpet may be from when they opened. It's super matted, stained and disgusting. To top it off the sign for westside is dirty. They do an amazing job taking care of all the animals. Matter a fact the animals enclosure are cleaned daily but and they even got new penguins. But they have yet to even redo the women's locker room. To add the indoor hot tub, cold plunge area was redone but is rarely cleaned. There is still grime around the poles and it's generally sopping wet in there with hairs and dirt everywhere. It's unhygienic and unsanitary. Westside please do better. The gym has everything you need. However as far as maintenance of areas and cleanliness it's a 1-Star. Who what's yoninhsle mood while showering. And the cold plunge and hot tub area/pools still reeks of mold. So they may have redone the area but whatever they did did not remove the mold smell that sticks to your body when utilizing the indoor hot tub and indoor cold plunge. Maybe it needs new piping and better extreme ventilation. read more

Came here for a short indoor triathlon . This review is overdue since it was in February and was 40 degrees outside . After a quick 10 min swim and run to bike area and then for a short run past the giraffes to the indoor track. It was definitely not the typical tennis swim club experience and can see why members would enjoy the large club feeling. read more

I have never been here before because I'm not a member but we got invited by some friends to enjoy the Christmas lights on the lazy river. I was confused when Google told us to turn left because it looked like it was going to be an apartment complex. It was the gates to the club and apparently the apartment complex refuses to sell the land. Parking was there but man you had to park far and we went on a cold and rainy day. The set up for the lights was super cute and the lazy river was fantastic. Took the kids to get pizza and play in the play area which was great. This is definitely a family oriented club. Didn't get to see the penguins or the giraffes but overall it was a good visit considering the weather. The lights and the path to the ride were extremely well done. Felt super bad for the guy who pushed our raft in the water the entire time in the rain. read more

It's a great place for the money $$ but we now have way to many members probably around 3,000 or more possibly? It can be extremely difficult to find a parking place when an "event activity" is going on a weekend like: Crawfish Bowl, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day etc... There is free member food at those events above. Sometimes you have to park "offsite" the club and walk in there. Other than that it's food they have a Sports Bar 21 and over only upstairs with a bar and bit tv's where you can watch sports and the Indoor Tennis Courts are there too so you can watch on the balcony. read more

The owner ( who is married to Mattress Mac) has animals throughout the club so expect to see giraffes by the entrance to the balcony area and monkeys in the kid play area. So let me start with our initial tour: The girl at the front desk maybe said 10 words through the whole tour like "here is the gym" "here are the tenis courts" "here is the child care" lol come on... i know we're not touring the river oaks country club but I've gotten a better tour at Planet Fitness. It was disappointing because my wife wasn't too excited about joining anyways and I thought maybe this tour would wow her. We joined because of the perks of child care (which could use improvement as well considering how much wildlife there is...i think we're getting penguins in a few months?) but there are a lot of classes, golf, other areas you can enjoy with the family. Service in the front desk is still horrible and you might as well be told "i don't know, go figure it out". As long as you can avoid the front desk i think you should be fine because the gym and other amenities are pretty solid. Nigel, who is the manager is responsive and the bartender upstairs in the quiet tennis bar is also very welcoming. Thats about it. I asked one of the girls in the front if they were going to bring an Easter bunny for their Easter family event and for more details about it and she said "yeah i have no idea, i don't even know what time the event is" LOL. Events are nice though! They have one like once a month for members only and they're usually all you can eat and stuff. read more

As a paying member of Club Westside, I've always appreciated the quality of the facilities, but I can no longer stay silent about the repeated disrespect I've experienced from a particular front desk employee. Despite using the 18+ gym multiple times and having a membership tag that confirms it, I've been questioned multiple times by the same older female staff member. I have verbally told her my age, and my tag clearly shows that I have access to the space. Still, she continues to single me out. I wish I had asked for her name because I would drop it in this review and hopefully have her actions re-evaluated. I have never had an issue with any other staff member when using this gym except her. Today went too far. In the middle of my workout, this employee actually left the front desk to come find me on the gym floor just to question me again. This was not only rude and uncomfortable, but also potentially dangerous. I was wearing noise-canceling headphones and could have been lifting something heavy. Her decision to interrupt my workout in that way was unprofessional and completely inappropriate. She also left the front desk unattended, which is a serious concern. People without proper tags could easily walk in without being checked. If she is doing this to me, she is likely doing it to other younger-looking members as well, and that is not acceptable. This experience has made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome in a space that I and my family pay to be part of. It has genuinely made me not want to come back. I hope that management takes this issue seriously. No member should feel targeted, harassed, or unsafe while trying to work out. read more

First, for the price and what it offers, in some way you just have to appreciative. It's really amazing they have created a place like this for families to come together. The reason it is only 4/5 of stars is because their childcare drop off leaves a lot to be desired. I would think most people would prefer further investment, focus, and improvement on the childcare area than adding further exotic animals like giraffes, which have to be a drain on the budget. People are joining for the family aspect, and most important thing to family is their children. While westside has a ton of kids activities for kids that can independently move throughout the club, it's childcare drop off appears to be a check in the box afterthought. Some areas childcare could improve and if done, would make this an easy five stars--especially at the price and for all the amazing amenities it already has. Childcare drop off improvement ideas: 1) larger space (there were 25 kids ages 1-5 on top of each other in same small room) --note it appears they are building a new childcare area (so there is hope!) 2) improve caregiver to child ratio (when we were there it appeared the farm animals had a higher ratio of caregiver to animal than the daycare) it should range from 3-1 to 10-1 depending on age group. 3) segment out the child ages groups further into more rooms for different kids with age appropriate toys and activities. It should be newborns (0-6 months), crawlers (6-14 months), walkers (10-20 months), talking toddlers (18-36 months), then fully potty trained older kids on (30 months on). Right now they have a bucket baby room (for newborns) and then a madhouse room, with no transition, and obviously there is a huge difference between a one and four year old. 4) the daycare is open 13 hours continuously with what appears to be no intra day disinfection plan (becomes more important when you see how crowded the room is and understaffed it is) 5) there should be outside type playground for access for the older childcare kids. Right now the room is kind of interior dungeon with no natural light and ability for the kids who can run and play to run and play. Also, I agree on potential to improve security--especially in area where kids run free. To enter through the security gate you should at least have to scan in your pass to get in and if not fill out a visitor pass by showing your id and get directed to a different entry control point when come as a guest, vendor, or potential member. Also, rather than a further zoo animal area, building an outside playground area would be good addition. read more

We joined recently and the staff and amenities are more that we can hope for. The club is constantly being cleaned which is a huge plus these days. The food at the restaurant is excellent. My 1st visit today. I think it's a nice quality club, but my experience is less than impressive. The women bathroom next to the main pool has 2 showers, one doesn't work, and the other doesn't have hot water. For the capacity that this place holds, It is very limiting. A nice touch to have hand dryers in the sink, but the water barely trickles and the soap dispensers all empty. BTW, there is No trash can in this restroom. I cleaned my ears and couldn't find anywhere to throw out used QTips!!! Adult pool: this is where I did some time, and decided to swim laps. I had leaves and human hair entered my mouth. Again, the place charges 3X the average membership, so people should be able to expect everything to be close to perfect. Suggestion to management: install outdoor shower head and tell people to rinse before entering the pool!!! Cleaner for everyone! The adult-only section is practically standing room only. This should be larger. Adults pay the memberships. Adults drive the kids to come. Adults want to be with other adults... so to only have the one limited area, well.. you can imagine. read more

Family oriented, hotel resort style type of place / social club. IMO, it's 90% geared towards kids. The only real adult things are the adult pool, and the gym which are both pretty decent for the cost of the membership. Parents will drop their kids off and leave. Or, parents let them run around while the adults gossip / talk about each other and get drunk. Seems they are trying to phase tennis out as they are slowly removing courts and making the place less about tennis. One thing I find ridiculous is the security. Security is a joke. Just say you are Uber or picking someone up and you can drive right in, park and use the club for free. For the amount you pay for this place, that is just unacceptable. I will suggest if you are curious about the club, take a free tour and sign up toward the end of the year when it's cheaper. (Like June / July because they close the water park in fall.) Overall, for families, or people who work or live nearby, I do think this place does offer some value. However if you are coming here to play tennis, the glory days of tennis are long gone. read more

I'm not a member, so call this an outside visitor's review? A family member joined about a year ago and I have been by a handful of times as a guest. Overall the club is a very impressive family friendly facility. This is not the Westside Tennis Club of old, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. They've just tracked harder to cater to the whole family experience, rather than just catering to tennis nuts. They still have a ton of tennis facilities, but now also offer 3 pools, (including an adult only pool) a lazy river, an indoor playground complex, arcade, bowling alley, full gym, limitless workout classes like spin, and the list goes on and on. If you have a large family that you're trying to keep happy, there really is a great return on your dues at Club Westside. This is a one stop shop where the kids have as many activities to keep them busy as the parents have workout options, and everyone goes home happy. read more

This review is focused around the fitness center. The rest of the club- tennis courts, "exotic animals" pools are well maintained. The Fitness center in the other hand is poorly maintained and nearly entirely neglected. Equipment is always in less than working order. Equipment is broken and never repaired in a timely manner. It's a shame. I'm leaving this review hoping it is seen and hoping more for resolution. Horrible experience! Everything was good when they gave a tour and took my money. While doing the tour people looked at us sideways but I just figured it was due to them being nosey. Unfortunately, the first day my son went there he was harassed like he didn't belong. Other people's Kids run around without supervision in the places they are supposed to be supervised and nobody says anything to them. My son is 21 years old and was questioned EVERY time. Fast forward to today, I received an email saying grandkids can't be added, and saying our family is too big to be members. Mind you their website and employees confirmed it was OK. We are a blended family. So I was questioned on why my children's names were different than mine and also due to their error, the birthdays were entered incorrectly which caused them to think I had a one year old. Even if I did, why can't I? She also implied that we live in an apartment and saying how we cant all live in the same house due to the number of us. Smh. She said everyone over 16 will have to have an ID with the address, even though mine doesn't have our new address to our 5 bedroom house! Not apartment! So if you have a different name, blended family, or BROWN SKIN, BEWARE! YOU WILL BE DISCRIMINATED AGAINST, HARRASSED AND PUSHED OUT. DEFINITELY will go back to the MAC club where we NEVER experienced this racism. read more

We are new members, and WOW, We love this place!!! It feels like a vacation from real life. My toddler loves the kids' club (surprisingly, because he is a bit clingy to me!), and my "big kids" (6 and 8) love the arcade, putt putt golf, the indoor playground, bowling, and of course the pool. We have been able to get to know the giraffes, monkeys, and flamingos during quiet times when not many people were around. The toucan is also a fam favorite. My son loves that he can always join a "pick up" soccer game on the indoor field, and my husband is able to easily jump into the batting cages to work with him when we are rained out of his little league batting practice. We can't wait for the water park to open up! I'm excited to start getting back into tennis, and the variety of fitness classes is amazing. What I especially value about this club, is that it is so flexible. We are thinking about moving from our house in Houston, so we are not able to be locked into a huge equity buy-in at this time. Westside allows us to enjoy the amenities of any Houston club (plus MUCH more - like the FREE (?!! and amazing!!) childcare so I can enjoy my classes and adult time.) We have met so many fun families from all over Houston. Yes, there is so much stuff for kids of every age, but I honestly would want to join if I didn't have kids. There is a lounge area only for adults - only adults can access the main locker room with the sauna and steam room and the water massage area - and there is an all-adults pool and hot tub. Believe it or not... if you're a member, this place has one of the best deals for one of the best Sunday brunch in town (under $20)! Showers has body wash, shampoo and conditioner. Haha. Westside Tennis & Fitness is one of the best kept secrets in Houston. It's like a resort! This is a great place for families, couples and singles. Along with tennis they have a state of the art fitness center, unbelievable locker rooms with sauna, steam rooms and private high end stone showers, 3 pools, restaurant, sports bar, batting cages, driving range, putting green, indoor basketball courts, indoor and outdoor volleyball, soccer field, kids swim team and masters program, massive kids jungle gym, huge arcade and a 6 lane bowling alley... Along with the main restaurant they have a snack bar in the bowling alley and a snack shack next to the lagoon pool. For adults they have several selections of beer, wine and frozen drinks which is nice when relaxing poolside listening to the music that's on the outdoor speaker system. They have a large swimming pool and offer private swimming classes for the kiddos. There are shower heads in almost any public restroom. Their people is definitely, what I like the most from this place. Since we have a 3 and half year old little man, we love the fact that we can trust our kiddo with them while we go to hit or take one of the many fitness classes. They have a HEATED pool, just in case you feel like swimming some laps in cold weather. The gym is never too crowded, I don't have to wait for others to stop using the machines I am planning to use. They also have a lounge with a bunch of tv screens, a pool table, comfy chairs. There is a ball machine too, in case you feel like practicing before your match. And they have so many more amenities that I haven't check yet, because I am always on the go. Before I forget to mention, they are building a WATER PARK with a Lazy river in the back of the property. This place has awesome state of the art fitness. The spinning room has state of the art spinning bike with easy to use SPD cleats that fits all the pedals. I bought a Pearl Izumi ALP Seal VII Mountain bike shoes ( REI) with multi release cleat and I use it all the time. Amazing difference, no pain in quads or hamstrings. Rides like a breeze. Get one and show up on wednesday nights (7pm) to Jennifer's (instructor) class.(free ). This 60 minute class and Saturday 9.15 am class are a must to stay in shape. I love it and how about you. This place is like heaven for a crazy active person like me! Last Tuesday I decided to join because my efforts for finding a tennis buddy in Houston had failed. I just thought I'd join and get on a league, but halfway through my tour I realized that I had definitely underestimated the place. Aside from the numerous tennis courts of all surfaces, there's an indoor driving range, basketball gym, beach volleyball, two gyms with fantastic equipment, three heated pools (two are lap pools), cardio classes, spin....and complimentary cardio tennis and drop in drills all week!! That doesn't even begin to scratch the surface at Westside though, you'll have to check it out for yourself...and when you do, you'll see that the price is much more reasonable than you thought!!! This is the MOST amazing family club I have ever been to. My grandchildren LOVE going here. The staff is friendly, helpful, and fun. The atmosphere is incredible , from the monkeys to the giraffes to putt-putt golf to arcade games to bowling alleys to play gym - and then there are the wonderful pools and lazy river. I love this gym! I have a membership through my job and love coming here. There are 3 pools and tons of tennis courts to utilize. Unfortunately I would not have a membership if I didn't get one for Free. It's a little on the pricey side for someone who only comes a couple times a week.
