Cluck House in Newport was a huge hit on our first visit! The bright pink interior practically calls your name & the whole vibe is just plain fun. We really enjoyed interacting with our super cool, friendly female bartender! The wings were the first thing to impress: meaty, perfectly cooked & packed with flavor. The sauces we tried leaned mild, so next time I'm definitely going for the spicier options. What really sets Cluck House apart in Newport is the value. Definitely good bang for your buck, especially for a waterfront town where everything else can be fairly expensive. Beer prices are refreshingly reasonable, making it an ideal spot to grab a relaxed drink without feeling poor! The atmosphere is lively without being chaotic. If you are a sauce fiend, this is the place for you. A cute little spot on Thames, brightly colored and full of natural light, I was brought here from the RI Food Fights Lord of the Wings event. I sat at the back bar and had a pomegranate mimosa while I waited for my wings. They only have beer and wine here but that doesn't stop them from creating some tasty specialty drinks. Pro-tip: On a cold day, this bar is right under the heating vent so it is the coziest! With my wings, I opted for the sauce flight. I went with some of the bartender's recommendations and then a few I was interested in. With these wings, the sauce is everything. The crisp on the wing was one of the best of this month, but there was no flavor to it other than what I suspect is a pickle juice brine. However, the sauces are definitely PACKED with flavor. I enjoyed all of them, even the hottest one I chose, the peach bourbon bbq. I got a side of Mac and cheese with the wings. It was serviceable. The taste was better than average but was very thick, at times cloyingly so. Not enough to keep me from finishing the side, however. Overall I had a fun time at the Cluck House. The sauces are excellent, the wings fried exactly how they should be, and delicious wine drinks to boot. Definitely recommend you try this spot! read more

I love options and their $1.50 sauce sampler was right up my alley! 4 sauce choices. I got 2, my husband got 2. So we ordered wings without sauce and dipped! It was a great choice. Not only did I get to try my sauces, but our friends sauces as well. Sauce review: 1. Pterodactyl- teriyaki and bbq mix. This was interesting. Some bites I felt the bbq was strong and others the teriyaki. I liked this sauce. (we found out alter in the day this part of the state participates in this mix frequently.) 2. Spicy Maple Syrup- it's in the name. My issue- the consistency. It's messy and lite. 3. Hot Cheese- GREAT CONCEPT! Melted cheese on wings? Yes! It has a kick but i went back for a few dips so I can handle it I bet you can too! 4. Garlic parm- It was more like a marinade. Strong and basic. No te gusta. 5. Spicy peanut- not really peanutty or spicy. Needs more of a flavor kick. Small establishment (really close to O'Brien's if that helps you place it on Lower Thames.) Clean. No spirits, just beer. Absolute gem and one of the greatest places we ate in Newport! A MUST if you are visiting. We were looking for a quick bite while site seeing and stumbled upon this spot. (So happy that we did!) Typical problem with restaurants that specialize in fried food but are neglectful of their customers is using old oil to fry their products. Generally, when a restaurant rotates to new oil often, the food turns out a light golden brown and tasty as opposed to heavy, dark and sour tasting. This restaurant is a poor example of how to prepare fried dishes and extremely disappointing. Ownership needs to pay attention to their store. The sides are average at best but you go for the chicken. Won't go back. read more

Not like there are 100 tables to maintain. 10 maybe at max. This was a not worth $30 never mind dropping $80 bucks. This place won't make it.
