Best Korean Fried Chicken and waffle fries I've ever had. I have zero complaints about the quality, the flavor, cook, texture etc...only praises. Batter is perfect, not too thick and skin is crispy and not greasy. Chicken is well marinated and flavorful. The sauce was very flavorful, not too sweet, and quite spicy! The sauce did not make the skin soggy either. Size of each chicken piece was perfect for 2-3 bites. Waffle fries were so well-seasoned and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. I am drooling from writing this review reminiscing about my last few meals from CM! Only thing I'll say is that it's a bit pricey but for the quality and eating experience, it's worth it. I wish they CM served beer with it as well, but I can do that at home with take away or I'll have to go the Glenview location next time. For take out orders, I have to reheat the chicken in the air fryer after driving 25 minutes home. Chicken is still amazing after reheating. The car took about two days to air out the fried chicken smell though. I am not sure when was the last time I had a meal from a mall food court. I was probably not yet an adult. But here I was in Lincolnwood Mall on a Sunday afternoon when I remembered a co-worker had brought in some fantastic smelling chicken for lunch one day last year. She said it was leftovers from CM Chicken in the Lincolnwood mall. I promptly put it on my list and forgot about it until Sunday. We asked about the most popular menu items and used the feedback to order snow chicken (served with a mound of raw onions and a sweet, mayo-like sauce) and the garlic soy tikku wings. We brought it home because no one needs to be eating wings in front of strangers. The food was still hot when we got it home and discovered one of the orders also came with sweet-pickled chunks of what appeared to be a cruciferous vegetable. Cabbage-like but not cabbage. Since it was also white, we paired it with the snow chicken accoutrement. The snow chicken was insanely crisp. The sweet sauce and onions with it were not our thing, but better than we expected. And it stayed crisp when we refrigerated overnight and ate it cold the next day. But the garlic soy wings... wow. That was really, seriously tasty. Even worth the $17 dollars that brings the cost of mall food perilously close to airport food. Loved the slightly sweet and substantially hot glaze on that stuff. Not too much garlic. We love the simpleness of the menu and now we've got even to a point where we know what to get. Our favorite is the garlic soy tikku and the obligatory snow onion, and we also like the red hot gizzard. We tried red hot wings, but we enjoyed much better when it was smaller bites with gizzard because it's quite spicy. They have a loyalty program where if you earn 7 stamps, you can redeem for 1 free whole chicken. Each stamp is for a whole order so if you only get wings, it's only 1/2 a stamp. I am proud(?) to admit I have scored one because we have Korean Fried Chicken nights too frequently! Snow onion- raw sweet onion with special sauce. Typically served on top of original chicken but for takeout, they put on the side so wings don't get soggy. Tikku is their signature flavor that's smoky. It's a unique flavor to chicken wings. It's best tasted when served hot. Gizzard- may sound disgusting but it's quite chewy, and if you're from Korea, you might've grew up eating it. I was so excited to hear they opened a location so close to home because I didn't want to drive all the way to their Glenview location. I made an online order and everything was pretty easy to navigate through. It comes in a cute CM Chicken bag and was packed very neatly! Garlic soy tikku wings: These were my favorite! I love korean style wings in general because of how crispy they are. The flavor is delicious with slight sweetness. The chicken tasted fresh too. Lemon green onion wings: These were good too. Because it was takeout, they put the green onions on the side. I thought there would be some sort of sauce on the wings but they were just plain wings. I sprinkled the green onion on the wings while eating them. I couldn't really taste any lemon flavor, just the taste of the green onions. I felt these were lacking in flavor. Well today is kind of a cheat day because I was on the Seattle suttons diet for almost 4 weeks. I've had their food before but this is the first time trying their soy chicken onion tenders which was very juicy and mildly spicy I also ordered their gizzards which is delicious and unique. The chicken tenders was crispy but not your typical fried chicken with that Korean aftertaste after a crunchy flare. I haven't had fried chicken for such a long time And I usually go for their gizzards which is the best. Despite not being in a restaurant I do recommend coming to the lincolnwood Mall when you have a treat for Korean style fried spicy Chicken especially their version of gizzards. Located in the Lincolnwood Mall's food court on the second level, CM Chicken is now my default place to go for KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). I've previously been to their full service w/ bar, Glenview stand-alone location I really like how the chicken pieces are cut up the breast is cut into three big chunks, perfect size for a couple of bites. When I opened the takeaway box it was properly vented to preserve the crispiness as much as possible. Even so, after a twenty five min ride in my car, the chicken was still hot but not as crispy as if I was able to eat it right when I picked up. It takes about 20mins for them to prepare so do phone ahead. I had the soy garlic this time, the staff indicated that it was mild but based on my last experience with the "snow style," my assumption is that the breading has some spice already, regardless of the sauce. So despite the claim of "mild", my spice-sensitive kiddies thought it was spicy. It was a good level of heat for myself though. When I was chomping through, I had some sweat beads on my forehead. The sauce was semi-sweet and was quite yummy. Wish I had more of it to have with my rice, but figure that would make the skin more soggy. The shrimp was very nice, beer battered and served with cocktail sauce. The prawns were a good size and were nicely seasoned. I could probably drink that cocktail sauce as I liked to dip my chicken in it. At Lincolnwood Mall, there is no indoor dining during Covid measures. Did go back for a followup visit grabbing a whole garlic soy tikku chicken. Called ahead, they just needed 20 minutes. It looks like a smaller chicken, but it still became three meals for my wife, daughter and me. Tikku adds a little smoky flavor to things, I'd say try it once, say maybe on an order of wings and see what you think. Garlic soy tikku still had a bit of spice on it, not sure if that'd be the same if we got just garlic soy. (one more visit for Yelp research!) Less excited about trying curry. I went on their grand opening and a few times since and shared it with friends, who all love them as well. Our favorite so far is the their tikku (fried and charcoal grilled) garlic soy! We've gotten the whole chicken as well as the wings but prefer the wings. Their waffle fries are amazing and super crispy! I found out about this place from menus at a local Korean market. Let me tell you, I could NOT wait to try it! Stopped in mid-day on a Sunday with a friend & we ordered... garlic soy tikku tenders, snow onion tenders, original fried wings, onion rings, & wedge fries. Yes... just a buffet of fried goodness. It did not disappoint! Bear in mind, the original breading does have a slight kick to it, so if you're spice-sensitive like myself, best to have a soda or something else on hand to cool off with. (The included pickled radish was divine for this reason, aside from cleansing your palette.) We waited about 10 minutes for our food, hurried out to the car, & opened our bags happily. Everything was packaged wonderfully, vented to prevent the dreaded sogginess when fried foods are boxed too long. I was surprised by the spice in my original fried choice, but it was so tasty, I couldn't help myself. It wasn't overbearing & I was still able to thoroughly enjoy the other flavors our selections had to offer. There was something hilariously comforting about wolfing down Korean fried chicken in the car during Chicago winter. I will definitely return, as even the leftovers warmed up nicely in the oven! This is really amazing to have Korean Chicken restaurant in Lincolnwood! My favorite thing from the menu is the Tikku fried gizzard in both red hot and garlic soy. The gizzards are fried to a crisp and a little chewy, which is exactly how I like to eat them. I've tried the seasoned chicken: garlic soy, red hot, and garlic spicy. The garlic soy and red hot are my favorite! There is a sweetness and saltyness to the garlic soy which make the flavor really unique. The garlic spicy is my least favorite because it tastes like honey with hot sauce. I don't like the flavors together and it's just too sweet for me. And the red hot is great! It's spicy enough to make your nose run and to grab a glass of milk! To help ease the spice the radish do go very well with the red hot wings. I was shopping in the area of Lincolnwood Town Center mall, and I spotted a "grand opening" sign for CM Chicken so I thought I would scope it out. CM Chicken is located on the upper level food court of the mall, and features Korean style fried chicken. I was drawn to the lunch combo with a "burger" plus fries and beverage for $9.99. The burger is actually a fried chicken sandwich using thigh meat rather than white meat. I went with the curry burger, so the chicken was topped with a soupy curry sauce and some pickle slices. I am a big fan of the katsu style of curry sauce, but this curry sauce does not seem to hit all the right notes. This chicken sandwich was OK but not quite as tasty as the fried chicken sandwiches I have tried at Popeye's and even Burger King. I was sort of kicking myself for not going with wings or with another type of sauce. Anyway, the seasoned fries were crispy and pretty tasty, and the can of Coke tasted like Coke. The meal also came with a cup of cole slaw which I suppose can top the sandwich, but I ate it as a side. I've been meaning to try this spot again and am very happy with what I got. I ordered the small size catering platter for wings which was 27 wings - 3 flavors. I got the seasoned garlic soy wings, garlic soy tikku and the soy green onion. One thing I wish they did do was separate the flavors because I really couldn't tell the difference between them. I guess they're basically all the same flavor profile. The wings were delicious and I remember it was torture driving home with my delicious smelling package. The soy green onion option is extra $2 compared to the garlic soy and I'm not sure if I would get it again. It just comes with an extra side of seasoned green onions. This one year old food court business is basically the same franchise as the Choong Man Chicken in Glenview (and apparently Aurora).  They offer more products here though than at Glenview we were told, and that looks right based on my recall of Glenview, but it's also been over 2 years since my last visit there.  Today after our fitness mall walk here, we took home a carryout order of tikku garlic soy gizzards ($12.99) and a half order of their original recipe fried chicken ($12.99).  This is why we walk btw, to make stops like this, but we probably didn't come out ahead today, ha.  If you want to eat here, the food court is airy, open, and spacious.  The flavors on both orders were quite nice and both had a nice mild and flavorful kick to them.  They were great, especially accompanied with a nice cold beer.  Both orders were quite generous also, and our half chicken order (advertised as 7-8 pieces) was actually significantly more (like at least 10 pieces).  I enjoyed the gizzards also, and I haven't had them in ages.  They're a tad bit chewy but that's gizzards for you, and it's still a nice organ meat to enjoy.  Fun stop, and no regrets! read more

By the time I got back to CM chicken, my food was neatly packed and waiting for me. Due to COVID-19 you are not allowed to eat in the mall, so I wanted to quickly go home so I could eat. Great food!!!! They have a new menu were they offer "CHI BOP" that's rice with chicken and vegetables,you can get your favor sauce on the side. My favorite is Curry sauce definitely recommend it. We ordered a half order of fried chicken and a half order of snow onion chicken (but didn't use the onions) with fries, daikon, and coleslaw. Hubs picked it up at the mall and brought it home, and it was packed well and still pretty hot when he got home. The to-go boxes for the chicken have vents so that the steam doesn't make it soggy, so the chicken was nice-- crispy and juicy. (Therefore, though, you might want to put the leftover chicken in a different container in your fridge). I didn't use the sauce but he really enjoyed the garlicky white sauce. (The menu says "smothered in sauce" but since it's covid times and everything is to go, they put the sauce and onions separately so the chicken didn't get drenched and mushy, which was appreciated!) The fries were also very good, but honestly what I enjoyed most of all was the coleslaw-- it's that vinegar-based kind, not the creamy stuff, which I prefer. It really cuts the richness of the fried foods and, along with the daikon (which doesn't show up on the menu so I guess it's a bonus) is very crispy and refreshing! I'm not a HUGE fan of their ultra spicy options cause I'm really not a fan of ultra spicy, but that said Choong Man's "Cheese Monster Chicken" is the BOMB!  What it is, is decedent junk food. Its sounds like a catastrophe (chicken deep fried in a smashed up cheese puffs breading -- the cheap type you can buy in massive tubs, that melts in your mouth, mixed with just a touch of heat) but it's addictively good because it hits the unholy combination of being savory, sweet, spicy, fatty and salty all at the same time -- exactly the combo food companies try to make because it makes you eat the WHOLE box and come back for more -- about once a week I get overwhelmed by a craving for it even though it's REALLY not good for me. Health food this is NOT. Give it a few years and KFC will steal the recipe. Other than that, my favorites are the more traditional soy garlic and then the curry flavor... past that Korean fried chicken tends to be too spicy for me (I lived for 3 years in Seoul, the stuff they serve here is MUCH milder than how it's served up there). The wasabi chicken with green onion is only mildly hot, but it doesn't do it for me sufficiently to be worth calories/fat content. every week I tend to order one box of the monster cheese wings (delivery, I have yet to get it at the mall), and a 2nd box of a flavor I recently tried their fried shrimp (soy garlic flavor) and it was AMAZING... some of the best fried shrimp I've ever had.
