So a month or so ago, I was walking to a Seahawks game. As I walked down Jackson, I noticed that Cmarr wasn't there anymore. Panic ensued. What would I do? What would my new-to-me car do? Of course, my new-to-me car started making a godawful screeching noise a couple weeks ago. Everyone assured me it was just the fan belts, but damn, this noise could be an effect in a horror film. Really embarrasing. I think I put off taking it in a bit because I was afraid Cmarr was gone, gone, gone, and my poor, car-dunce heart couldn't handle that. Alas, they've just moved! I called yesterday morning from work, and they had me bring it in on the way home. The damn car wouldn't make the noise for the first time in weeks, but they agreed with the amateur peanut gallery that it was just the belt. Set up an appointment for two weeks from today! Love this place, and cannot recommend them strongly enough. PS...they also put air in my perpetually leaky tires. Awesome! PPS...I won the fan belt battle, but now my window won't roll up. Getting an oil change is one of my least favorite things to do. Mechanics usually see me, a small asian girl, and immediately think, "Cha-Ching!" I've never gone to get any kind of car maintenance without people telling me I needed some kind of extra work done for an exorbitant amount of money. Since Cmarr had such great yelp reviews, I decided to call and they said I was welcome to bring it in that day for a decently priced $30 oil change. After dropping off my car, I made a quick trip to Uwajimaya and came back a little bit before it was ready. The guys were nice and explained the work they did, and best of all, never got into depressing stories about the failed mechanics (real or made up) of my car. From what I've experienced, they're the nicest and most honest auto shop I've been to and they definitely have a sense of humor. They helped me out in finding another repair shop for a paint job they couldn't do and they filled my tires for free. A friend had gotten his maintenance done here and for all of the inspections they did, the price was a great offer. This team of people at C-MARR are great, what A POSITIVE EXPERIENCE! They did work on my brakes and belts and went out of their way to clearly explain which work actually was needed and which was not time critical. They used factory OEM parts and showed me my old parts and the wear and tear on them. One example, the mechanic showed me my brake pad sensor had just begun wearing a gouge in my brake rotor and explained service was necessary right away in order to avoid additional and unnecessary damage/cost down the road. I was very satisfied with the work completed by C-MARR. They are HONEST on their work and their pricing was fair and reasonable. I did not feel like I was getting gouged or unnecessarily up sold like I've experienced from other repair shops or at some dealers. My current car is a Honda Civic Hybrid. I was taking it to the dealer (rhymes with ponda of pheatle) but was always disappointed because of the outrageous bills that I would receive, or the poor quality of service where I had to take my car back repeatedly for the same issue. However, Cmarr is the best! So far, Cmarr has fixed an electrical issue (my car wouldn't start) and replaced an oxygen sensor (dealer wanted three times the price). I know that I will always get reasonable prices and honesty. The people at Cmarr are just nice, hard-working technicians who are committed to excellent customer service! Eric helps to explain what is wrong and what they need to do to fix it. I've never doubted his expertise or his honesty. Why play the game with other auto repair shops? My friend introduced me to CMARR two years ago when I was car sitting for her and was truly impressed with their services. They were honest and reasonable and now that I own a car, I take it to CMARR for any services I might need, including an oil change. Today, I brought my car in after lunch to determine why my ABS light would keep coming on. They couldn't figure it out but were able to advise me that my two front tires needed to be replaced as it was affecting the alignment and causing the car to skid while going up hills. Steve was even willing to help me find the tires (in the shop as they are an unusual size) which was extremely helpful. In a nutshell, I love the customer service I consistently get from CMARR. I don't feel hassled into getting extra services I don't need. Nice experience with Eric. Gotta say that he knows his cars and Eric displays the 'mad skills' in diagnosing the problem and fixing it quickly. I totally had confidence in leaving my 07 Camry here to get my triple warning lights (vsc, sliplight, & engine) checked & fixed. Wow. All I can say is thank you yelp for helping my family and I find a wonderful automotive shop. Curtis and Eric are top notch. I ended up taking my 2004 Saturn Vue 3.5L V6 with a Honda motor to the shop because of a dead battery and they had that swapped out and fix in less than 30min, which was very impressive because my battery is hard to find. After the wonderful service and reading yelp I ended up taking my car into their shop for a 100,000 miles tune and all I can say it was all worth it. Great experience and great service. I am usually the complete nerd who takes her car to the VW dealer for everything. When my "check engine light" came on, I dutifully made an appointment at University Volkswagen, which has a minimum charge of $105 an hour for diagnostic work. I decided to call CMarr, who have worked on other cars for me. I brought the car in this morning, and while I waited, Eric hooked up the computer thing to the car, and found that it was just the gas cap that hadn't sealed properly. He said it should fix itself in about the next three fill-ups. If not, call him, he'll order a new gas cap and install it. Today's charge? Absolutely nothing!!! They are wonderful. read more

Cmarr is a great place to have work done on your car. Everyone knows a lot about cars and never up sells. I first came when I had a major breakdown and lived far away. They fit me in same day and let me hang out in the comfy couches with my dog. Everyone is friendly and I always find customers to be open and chatty as well. Cmarr is a part of the local community. I've had a few small oversights and a bad recommendation from Cmarr, but I still trust them to make all the right decisions on my car and not rip me off. Definitely a better option than a lot of the nearby national chains. Cmarr could improve by being better at returning calls and email, and also improving follow up. But it's a busy shop with lots of business, so sometimes it's easier to just show up rather than call/email. read more

brought in my GMC truck to Eric and Curtis to replace my clutch and right after i got i notice it wasn't shifting properly and i could not use reverse with out burning the clutch so brought it back to them to see what it was and they said it was me not driving properly or maybe the mat. the clutch snap off a few on the middle of the freeway while shifting a few months later. I'm very upset that i spent over a thousand dollars and they just completely ignore everything i said. these guys think they fucking know everything and they are right about everything they say. These guys are incredible. I was in the middle of a road trip when the clutch of my car up and died. This was a problem, not only because I knew I'd need to drop a fat wad of cash on a new clutch, but because I was stuck in Seattle and needed to get back to California in a matter of days. I shopped around and talked to a lot of other companies--many of whom were unwilling to even quote me a ballpark estimate without me coming in or getting all sorts of unnecessary information, some of which I didn't have, or were otherwise unpleasant. The one other company I considered told me there was no way in hell they'd be able to start on my car for two to three days...and then it'd take another couple days to finish. When I called Cmarr, it was easy. I told them about my car, they quoted me a rate--the best one that I'd heard--and said they'd get it done within two days, working longer hours if necessary. And they did. For just what they quoted me. They even threw in a free oil change and fixed up a couple other minor things. And on top of it they were congenial, communicative, and sent me on my way with a box of Ritz crackers and some peppers that no one at the shop had wanted. Made me want to drive to Seattle whenever I need something done in the future. read more

My car wasn't braking good over the weekend. Found C-Marr on Yelp and thought I would give it a try. Amazing! Most helpful and honest mechanics I've ever felt with. I had my car towed here Monday morning. The owner greeted me and then called me a few hours later to let me know what was going on. For 4 hours of labor and some major wheel and brake work, it was an awesome deal! He was also really honest about my cars condition as well. The car was ready for pick up by Monday before they closed, talk about fast service! I picked up up Tuesday morning and the owner even walked me to show me where he parked my car in the street. I will so be coming back to C-Marr in the future! It's wonderful when you can get small town service in the big city! read more

I discovered Cmarr Automotive several years ago and have been taking my car to them ever since. My only complaint is that you sometimes need to wait at the desk a bit to talk to someone, but that's because when you do talk to someone it's usually the person who actually did the work on your car rather than some receptionist. There's a lot of things to really like about Cmarr, but the most important is the people. They are always extremely patient and willing to walk through exactly what needed to be done to fix a problem. I've never felt like they were trying to rush me out the door, and I get the impression that they really want you to be comfortable with the work they've done and why they did it. A couple of times I've taken my car in and they were able to fix something right away and didn't even charge me for it. In one case they spent an hour trying to figure out where a strange vibration was coming from, only to discover a small rock had somehow become lodged in a hidden spot between parts of the engine. I insisted on paying them for their time, but they wouldn't take my money. I really did try to pay them without success! They are also honest and helpful. I took my car in at one point because the wheel bearings on both rear wheels were going bad. They could have easily done the work and I would have paid them, however they advised me that the manufacturer had issued an extended (and unadvertised) recall on my car for that exact problem, and recommended that I have the work done at a dealer service center for free. Sure enough, the dealer did the repair under the unadvertised recall at no cost. I've been really happy with these guys and highly recommend them. read more

These guys are the absolute best mechanics I've ever encountered. They are so incredibly honest, and more than willing to do what it takes to fix your car. I had a lot of trouble with my VW, and we couldn't nail down what the issue was. There were several times they worked on my car for several days and didn't even charge me labor because they "wanted to just fix the problem." I would recommend CMARR to anyone. so i get the dunce award of the year by breaking off my own passenger side mirror in a compact car space. *note: my car is not compact. anyway, i was horrified to find out that it was going to cost $300+ at toyota to order the part ($186 + tax) and then $100 for labor and other taxes. i walked away from toyota with mouth gaping and decided to call a few places to see if i was really getting gipped. i checked out yelp and found cmarr, and so i called them post-haste. after talking to them, i found that toyota was charging the correct price for the part but their labor was a bit out of whack. they recommended i just go ahead and order the part from toyota, so that i could get the right color and all that jazz. i got my mirror, went to cmarr (they moved by-the-way) and got it replaced. i was told it might cost $40-60 to do labor, which i thought was a steal. i got there, the guys teased me about my illegal passenger, and they charged me for 10 minutes of work at $10! score! if that doesn't scream customer service, i just don't know what. if i happen to need another auto repair while i am here in seattle (god forbid!), i am definitely going there. i will certainly be referring people to them at the least. they're helpful, funny, honest, and quick. here is their new address: 1216 south weller st. read more

These guys are really great the only suggestion I have for them is to get a phone specific individual. They have too much business it seems to be able to efficiently handle their phones by using the mechanics. Other than that these guys really are great. They got me in short notice did a thorough check of the car and did a bunch of repairs which while not cheap, was reasonable for what they did. I greatly appreciate that who ever is working on your car will come out and sit down with you to explain everything that is going on and does not pressure you to do services. They will tell you honestly if a service is immediately needed or can wait. If you are trying to schedule I would try email or call till you get an answer. They have every intention of calling you back I am sure, just not the actual manpower to do so haha. read more

The guys at Cmarr were amazing - from the first phone call to the final conversation, they were responsive, clear, and considerate. I never once worried that I wasn't being told the absolute truth - after I dropped off my car, which was making a strange sound, they gave it a test drive and then called me to confirm that what they were hearing was the same thing. They explored all possibilities but stayed focused on the problem at hand and did not try to upsell me or point out all the myriad other issues with my car. They just found the problem and fixed it, quickly and professionally. I thought the rate was reasonable, too. I called Cmarr when I wasn't able to get into my usual mechanic. It can be risky business to try a completely new auto repair shop, but this was worth it, and I won't be going anywhere else from now on. read more

All I can say is I had my serpentine belt replaced at 91,000 miles in 2015 at another shop in another state. I brought my car into Cmarr at 109,500 miles in 2018 because of electrical issues (the car was intermittently not turning on; it needed its battery terminals and ground connections adjusted and cleaned). Paid $252 for this. Fair enough I suppose. I was getting ready to move out of state and drive 1000+ miles. I told Cmarr this. Cmarr informed me that the serpentine belt was cracked and needed replacement. I asked what would happen if it malfunctioned and broke and was told that I'd be stranded. Out of fear, I agreed to this additional job of having the serpentine belt replaced. Later, after I settled out of state, with further research, I learned that replacing the serpentine belt after less than 20,000 miles is ridiculous. Maybe Cmarr is completely honest and the previous shop failed to actually replace the serpentine belt. Or maybe there is something wrong with my car that caused the belt to be "cracked" (that's what Cmarr wrote on the receipt) and needing replacement. Maybe Cmarr deserves 5 stars for finding this issue and my previous mechanic lied about replacing the belt; maybe Cmarr deserves 1 star. If indeed the belt was replaced at 91,000 miles (and I have no reason to doubt my previous mechanic whom myself and my parents have gone to for years), it seems that a belt with less than 20,000 miles should not need replacement. Or that a mechanic would recognize that a belt with only 20,000 miles is relatively new and that there must be another reason why the belt is failing, if indeed it is failing. read more

I just had these guys install new front struts on my 2009 Camry. Cost me $100 less than if I had used Toyota Service. An expert job. They even showed me the old struts, demonstrating what was wrong.
