I was faced with a slab leak that flooded the first floor of my condo. It was not until the base cabinets were demolished that I saw that the new copper piping had not been run behind the drywall with steel stud safety plates, but just curved on top of the bottom shelf, completely exposed to possible damage from items placed back on the shelf. When the flood mitigation company arrived they immediately recognized that the new piping was not up to code and they contacted Thad, the owner of TLC Plumbing, to give him the option of coming back to correctly install the waterline, or they would fix it and bill the cost back to TLC. Thad came by my house the next day but did not tell me he was coming and did not knock on the door. I immediately called Thad back to have him return, but he cut me off and said he'd be back "between 10-12 the next day." He never showed up and ghosted me thru further attempts to contact him. It's also noteworthy that I had to contact Thad four times to get a readable copy of their work order/receipt. The flood mitigation company is now billing me $1100 for their professional fix, saying TLC is claiming I approved the non-code compliant approach. I was shocked when I saw the exposed piping and compared it to how the original pipes were installed in the walls. I cannot and will not give TLC Plumbing any grade other than an F and strongly caution anyone against using them.

Seriously I love my home). Anyway they snaked the drain and ran descale but it was unsuccessful due to the age and fragility of the pipes. I was home and watched them work. They busted their a**. When that didn't work they came back out and put in new ABS pipe and rerouted it to the main sewer. My kitchen and laundry were back in business with a new pipe system under warranty. Communication and execution of the job was poor. I don't live in the same city at my Mom and my Mom doesn't speak English that well so I was helping from a distance and through the phone. I asked Dave if he could call me with updates after he arrived at the house and he agreed. The reason I wanted to get an update was because Dave gave a broad range for an estimate over the phone since he needed to examine the faucets first to understand what needed to be done and what needed to be replace. I waited over 2 hours before calling him again and it turned out that he had already gone to buy parts without sharing an update or updated estimate with me. My sister arrived at my Mom's house while Dave was there and told me that Dave was very short with her and seemed very frustrated. Dave left without saying a word to either my sister or my Mom and my sister had to call him back into the house to understand why one of the faucets he repaired had a protruding spout. He replaced the kitchen sink as requested but didn't complete the job by caulking the faucet so there is now water leaking down into the cabinet below. My sister will have to return and caulk it herself. I spoke with Dave over the phone afterward to share feedback and he explained that he didn't call with an update because he had to go to the store with the parts to figure out replacements and cost. I think he could have still called before making the purchase to update me on estimated costs and time required for the job so I could let my Mom know so she could plan her day. He also said that he didn't speak with my sister because he didn't know who she was. I think that could have been solved by introducing himself and/or at least asking her if she could help inform my Mom of the status of the job. He explained to me why the spout of the faucet is now protruding which I appreciate, but my sister and mom were so confused and he just left.
