I'd give De Mars Plumbing 5/5 for responsiveness, but closer to 3/5 for the actual work quality, which is ultimately what matters most. I first reached out because we had three issues: our dishwasher sink was clogged, one of our showers made a very loud screeching noise when turned on, and another shower head had a small leak. Scotty and Steven came out quickly for a free estimate, which I appreciated. The quote seemed fair (though in hindsight, probably would've been smart to get a few comparisons), and they scheduled the work just a few days later. They were both very professional and responsive throughout, and the initial visit only took about an hour and a half. At first, it seemed all good but later that night, we realized the problems weren't all actually resolved. Our faucets suddenly had really high water pressure (on sinks that weren't even touched), and two of the original issues persisted. To their credit, they were quick to respond when I reached back out. They came back within a couple of days and essentially redid much of the work. This time, they were able to fix two of the three issues. However, the shower that makes the painful screeching noise still does, even after replacing the cartridge (which I believe we were charged for). They explained that fixing it completely might require a bigger job, like drilling into the closet wall to access the plumbing - which we're holding off on. Still, it left me questioning whether the cartridge replacement made sense if the problem was bigger than that. A couple of other things I wish were different: I never received a detailed invoice or written breakdown of what each repair would cost, which would've been helpful for clarity. Also, while they did kindly replace one shower head free of charge, the fact that the work had to be redone and one main issue remains unresolved makes it hard for me to feel fully satisfied. Overall, I do think De Mars has good people who care about their work, and I appreciate how quickly they respond. But based on my experience, I'd recommend making sure to get everything documented up front and possibly getting a second opinion before committing. read more

We are grateful for the helpful comments we found on Nextdoor that led us to call Scotty at the last minute to install a couple of faucets at our house. My work schedule is crazy, and I only had some time on a Saturday afternoon. I called him around 2 pm. He was busy with another job but he promised to come by later that evening. He called us back at around 6pm and did the work professionally and charged a reasonable price. Giving two stars because of previous experience but this last turn around the service was a disaster. He quoted $100 for a faucet change with owner supplied materials then charged $195. Which we paid. As soon as he leaves there are hot water supply leaks and drain leaks. Called Scott back within 20 minutes and he claims he is already in Campo, he was in Mission Valley 20 minutes ago. Well he got paid, so ignore the customer. Paid $13 cheaper than paying Lowe's to install same faucet but a mountain of headaches and no warranty or backing of their work. read more
