This new location gets overcrowded quickly, and service tends to deteriorate and get negligent as the meal progresses. It has been very clear on late lunch visits that the staff is more interested in enjoying their lunches and breaks vs taking care of customers correctly for the full duration of the cudtoners' meal, sometimes outright ignoring and abandoning them. The location is more cramped with a more pretentious ambiance, but rather soulless and not as comfortable compared to the original location in town. It is ridiculous and not customer focused to not take reservations, as I'm not into driving to LA Connor to wait seemingly endlessly and unpredictability for this overpriced inconsistent experience. Prices have indeed gone through the roof, as another reviewer mentioned. Although the food is generally good, the prices come across like some kind of ridiculous tourist trap money grab, out of line with the location. They even serve you less chips and salsa, grabbing back cash anywhere they can. The number one driver of my one-star review based on my latest trip there, which I went significantly out of the way for, was I was less than 20 minutes away considering a very late afternoon lunch, and I inquired by phone if there was any risk of not getting a table. I was assured there was no chance that would happen, and they explained in detail why. To my surprise, I was duped, and upon arrival, they were slammed packed full, totally in chaos, and we were informed that there would be a long wait and I would have to go on the waiting list. Screw that for a bullshit system of no customer reservations, inaccurate misleading information, lack of consideration for customers, and a packed room to pay about $120 or more for a decent, but not mind-blowing, lunch for two. They blew it and lost my business that day, and likely many future opportunities, because that crap breaks all trust and desire to dine there. read more

I am a diehard COA fan and eat at the Mt. Vernon location weekly. The food here is great, especially the margaritas, salsa and burritos. The churro plate is such a treat too. I find the service and food quality a little better at the Mt. Vernon location but the convenience and ambiance of La Conner still keeps this at 4 stars for me. read more

We are staying in LaConner and decided to check this place out after going to Deception Pass and collecting rocks all day. First of all, you have to eat here. Our servers were so friendly, they went out of their way to make sure we were happy. The food, well the food is hard to put into words. Husband had my usual carne asada but he had the (I spell checks wins I'm going with English) shrimp/prawns Diablo. I had the pulled pork with chorizo. I have to say this was probably the best meal I've had traveling since I had pork shank at a little taverna in Greece. So much flavor but not heavy. Even the side of beans. We took a dinner ride out to COA since the weather was nice and it's always a different vibe riding at night. It was worth the trip. This time around I had the Burrito Loco. It came to the table and it looked like a work of art. So much going on just on the outside. I have to tell you I'm not a big Mole' guy but the Mole' sauce gracing this dish took me to another dimension. It was so deep in flavor I think I forgot where I was for a moment or two. The whole meal was so big I only ate half. The Carne Asda inside was excellent but I think I'll pair the chicken with that unearthly Mole' sauce next visit. Good job COA! read more

We arrived just after 2 pm on a Thursday and were promptly greeted and seated. After that things went downhill. It took about 15 minutes for our waitress to come to our table - there was a family of 8 at a table next to us - so we understood how things might be a bit busy for her. But no acknowledgment of us. Eventually she took our drink order and our lunch order as well. No offer of water or chips and salsa. The wonderful hostess saw that we didn't have any and brought us some after apologizing for them not having been brought. Our meal and drinks came at the same time and that was the last time our waitress interacted with us until she brought us the check. This place was highly recommended to us, however I won't highly recommend it. The food was good (2 crispy tacos that were soggy and a chile relleno that was medium warm) but could have been better. We dropped into Coa's patio for lunch on one of the first sunny days in months. Great service and great food. The fresh salsa was delicious as were the freshly made chips. I had the chili relleno with beans only, which were very flavorful. However, the most surprising part was the house margarita...wow! I did not expect it to be so outstanding! Fresh and flavorful with the Tajin spiced rim, well, I just had to order a second one (which I never do!). We will be back the next time we are in La Conner! read more
