Tried to give this place another try but the management here just made for an unpleasant time. I would rather not be checked on every 5 minutes. We sat on the original side and thank God for the bartender over there. She really killed it. Had no help, sat tables, took orders, and served the bar. I asked her if she was the manager and she said no. She pointed out who was the manager on duty and she was sitting at a table on her phone!? While one of her staff was working her ass off. The only reason I will be back is because of this bartender, so personable and really made for a great Saturday. read more

I'm so glad this place is open during COVID...went Sunday afternoon...food was AMAZING, but the bartenders paid no attention to our empty drinks...one of the serves named Crystal, we kept asking for a refill...and she gladly did...just wish the bartenders would have paid more attention as they weren't that busy or they might have got a tip like Crystal...Thanks Crystal! read more

I recently had my retirement party at Coakley's. The service, food and accommodations were excellent. Chelsea, Margie and Will were so helpful and very attentive from the planning stages through the actual event. They suggested a menu and it did not disappoint! Went for drinks and ordered mojitos. The bartender had no idea how to make a mojito (she even asked us what it was) as it was lacking the necessary ingredients of mint and lime so both drinks were rather sad. Next time, I would just order a beer. read more

Wishing I had better things to say about this place. Saturday afternoon is not the time to come in to Coakleys for a meal. The owner claimed they were extremely busy and that's why it took over an hour to get a salad with tuna, a cheesesteak, claims trips and two kids meals. For the price of "high quality top chefs" the food left a lot to be desired. A 15$ for a tuna meal that was mediocre is simply not worth it. The owner wasn't pleasant to talk to and offered to heat up my overcooked tuna but also said "well this isn't a fast food restaurant". I had higher expectations given the reputation of this place. Came here with a focus on crab. Two of us had crab cakes and they were ok. One had crab soup and a salad. He said the soup was good although could have used more crab meat. I had flatbread with shrimp and crab with Alfredo sauce, chopped tomatoes and old bay seasoning. It wasn't bad but wasn't a great recipe. It was mediocre and I added more old bay. Perhaps a different combination on flat bread would be better. Didn't really think the Alfredo went well with the seafood. read more

Have been enjoying the steamed shrimp and old bay wings at Coakley's for many years now! They have the best staff and management team in the area and everyone gets service with a smile. Love their salads, ahi tuna, steaks and shrimp wraps too! Recently added is their outdoor patio/lawn complete with a stage for live music on weekends. read more

I had given Coakleys a bad review many many moons ago (since removed). We gave it another shot today after 10+ years. I'm upgrading it to a 5. I was very impressed today with the service, the food, the atmosphere and the cleanliness. If you go - and it's still on the menu - get the seafood Mac-n-cheese or the blackened chicken Alfredo. You will not be sorry!! We also had the seafood nachos and it was better than Woodys (so that's saying a lot!!). The menu doesn't read like soooo many other places that have all the exact same food, although, they do still have wings and sliders and a ton of different pub style burgers. The Coakleys have done an **outstanding** job fixing the things that seemed overwhelmingly wrong to us so long ago. WE WILL BE BACK! Big thanks to the staff for a wonderful experience! read more

Skip it. A locals bar with the dregs. Consistently flat or just none on draft and what they do have is warm. And honestly the worst food. I don't know how many times I've asked for a steak cooked medium and they couldn't do it with a gun to their head. Not even close. Pathetic. Soon something else will be located here. read more

If you like the smell of cat piss this is the place for you! Obviously they must have cats living under the place. The smell was really bad. I'm surprised that ownership has not taken care of this problem. Service wasn't very good. Took a long time for our food to show up. I don't have a problem spending $15 for a crab cake sandwich..... It was just so so... Nothing special. At least the beer was good. read more

The cream of crab soup and grilled chicken salad were excellent. My husband ordered a burger medium well and it was more like medium rare. We drank bottled beer and they were not very cold. We were seated on the back side of the bar and were neglected. The bartender, Jeff, kept complaining when he had to spend time on our side of the bar, that he had to get back out front before they killed him. Maybe you should have more than one bartender on a Saturday afternoon. Also, I wanted to purchase some t-shirts for some friends whose last name is Coakley and Jeff complained about having to go get them because he was supposed "to be playing bartender". Hey, I'm spending money in your establishment. You should be a little more appreciative. Next time I'll go up the street to Lagom. read more

Came here with two kids and ate outside. Looked like they were renovating the place. We almost left because we couldn't find the front door. Saw another couple leave who couldn't figure out how to get in. Once inside staff was friendly and food was good. Good crab pretzel and typical and decent pub grub. I've been wanting to stop in Havre de Grace for years driving up and down I-95, but never got around to it. Well, I finally did and wish I'd done it sooner. My daughter and I stopped here in our way back to DC from a trip to NJ/NY. Coakley's is a great Irish pub with friendly service and friendly patrons. We felt welcome immediately. They had a great menu with lots of choices to satisfy different tastes, but we were just taking a break from the traffic and exploring, so just had some Mucho Nachos. They were the just what the doctor ordered. Perfect fuel to hit the road again. I'm looking forward to swinging back through on my next trip! read more

This place wasn't bad. We went on a Saturday night and besides the fact that there was no parking, we had a good time. We actually had to park across the street, sort of near Tidewater and Magerk's parking lots. We got seated in an awkward part of the restaurant though, with only about 4 or 5 tables in a small room. There was only one other table filled in there, and it was two parents and two young kids under 5. The beer came out quick and the prices are ok. They have things like Sierra Nevada listed under import bottles though, so don't go here expecting a big beer selection. I was actually pretty disappointed in their beer selection. They have mostly mass market stuff you find everywhere and their draft selection was weak. Their "seasonal" beer was just non big brews they usually don't offer. They did have Newcastle Werewolf though. I ended up getting a Dogfish Head IPA and my wife got a Smithwick's. Each beer was about 4.50 which I thought was pretty high. For food, we got the crab pretzel which was really good.The crab imperial that is topped on the pretzel had a really unique flavor, different from what I'm used to. It was very filling. I ordered the Cajun chicken sandwich for my entree with steak fries (not my favorite...very soggy) and my wife got the black and blue burger w/ waffle fries. Both came out quick and were cooked pretty much to order, except for my wife's burger being a little undercooked. She ordered medium well and although the outside was dark and near charred, the inside was still rather pink (I dont know if it was a frozen patty). Both sandwiches were a nice sizes. Overall, we left full and the prices weren't awful. All in all we spent $40 bucks for two sandwiches, an appetizer, and two beers. Service was also good. I think it would probably take a lot to get me to go back there though. As far as bar food, I have a few other places I prefer (like Dark Horse Saloon in Bel Air). Also, I'm sure the actual bar areas are much better... but where we were seated was just awkward. read more

We were there last night, the food was very good, the service was excellent, we sat outside next to a nice heater, and listened to great music! Perfect evening! We will definitely be back! Two guy band last were incredible!!! We had fried pickles, I had the french dip (so much meat), and my boyfriend had the Buffalo wrap. Went last week and the service was HORRIBLE! Waitress came to the table maybe 5 times total, an hour after ordering we asked for a manager that came out with excuses and no apology. After we received our food that was not very good and cold the owner came out without even being asked just to be rude, needlessly defensive and once again without apology. I understand everywhere has off days and things happen but you need to own up to your mistakes not blame others. It doesn't matter if you have been in the business over 20 years that is no excuse for poor customer service. Due to the owners attitude I would recommend others to take their money to one of the other establishments in the area. I believe you would have a better time and experience. read more

Awesome new find! COAKLEYS PUB IN HAVER DE Grace I went by Coakley's on Saturday to drop off some info about our band for the owner. We decided to stay for lunch. My new favorite place! I'm a vegetarian and it's often hard to find good restaurant food. Coakley's wins the prize "broccoli, mushroom and Swiss melt" five ***** ! It was fresh, cooked to perfection and delicious. My lunch companion had the seared tuna salad and said it was also "perfect". Also the service was excellent. Brittany was our server and she was efficient and just the right amount of friendly without invading our privacy. Even if we don't end up playing a gig here I will be back with vegetarian friends lol. read more

My family and I met for a birthday celebration. The food was great with a very large menu to choose from. It was our 1st time there and will certainly be returning again. The service was good without being intrusive. The football game was playing so those that wanted to watch could but those that were not interested were not bother by it. My wife and I were looking forward to a nice relaxing lunch after being incredibly busy of late. Unfortunately, Coakley's was the wrong choice. We ordered a crab melt and a chicken/crab melt. I ordered a soup. I never got the soup. The food arrived and neither my wife nor I received the meal we ordered. The chicken/crab melt was actually tuna. I seriously considered getting up and leaving but the manager, to her credit talked me out of angrily leaving by giving us a major break on the price or our meals plus a gift certificate. Coakley's has been a problem for me in the past as well. One time, a waitress spilled a beer all over me. Maybe it's me... lol I should probably just give up on this one. read more
