This spot was a life saver. It was the last day I had to get my smog check and I had found an affordable place to go to around the corner from here but it looked like it was closed or closed down for years. I saw this place at the corner of my eye and out of frustration I just went here. Luckily, it was only 10 bucks more than the place I was going to. I really can't say enough wonderful things about this outstanding repair shop! My Acura is 10 years old and George and Royal at Coast Auto have saved me from ever having to deal with the overpriced dealership service dept. My partner, Kevin, discovered this gem and we have never wanted to go anywhere else. He takes his older Toyota Camry in for regular service and when there is ever anything unusual, they always figure it out and fix it with the quickness and for a fraction of the price others charge. I also have been so happy with my regular service there. Unfortunately, I had to go to the Acura dealership for a recall problem and while there, they told me my windshield wiper fluid container was cracked. The dealership was ready to charge me $600 to handle the problem. I went to Coast and Royal figured out that it wasn't even the container, it was the line leading to the wipers. He is an excellent problem solver and made it happen for almost nothing. Sidenote: Royal loves the wings from the place across the street. We are always so thrilled with his work that it is a pleasure to pick up some wings! We feel like we are going to see friends whenever we go to Coast! read more

George and the other gentleman here were very friendly and very communicative about the work needed on my car. They called me to give me updates and called me when it was done. They ran a diagnostic that they didn't charge me for and ultimately just charged me for work and parts. I picked up my car two business days later and it ran just fine. I had initially came in with a check engine light and stability light on my dashboard, plus my car wasn't exceeding 65mph. They took care of it and I am grateful for that. read more

The owner called this company and said how they took advantage of me. I was not driving on a flat tire, its a 2015 Porsche, my car has sensors that says when the car is flat. They cut a hole in my tire. See the pictures, they speak for themselves. Have filed a claim with the BBB against this company for their dishonest practices!!!!!! I went into this business needing a patch for a small nail I had in my tire on my 2015 Porsche cayenne. After waiting, the manager Judith tells me that my tire popped because I was driving with a low tire pressure. (Not true, my vehicle tells me when I have a low tire pressure and how low the psi is) She also said my tire already had a patch done so I can't have another patch. ( Also not true, you can have 3 patches per tire) She then tried selling me a new tire!!! After being there for over 45 mins with my infant son who was getting very fussy, I had them put the spare tire on so I could go home and feed my baby. Later on that day, I went to pick up my tire and rim from Coast auto care and took it to a different tire shop. I had the shop look at my tire that "popped" and told them what Coast Auto told me to see if it made sense. They looked at the cut in the tire and told me that it looks likes the machine cut into it. Sure enough he took the tire over to a standard machine that all shops have and the cut matched up like a puzzle piece. Coast auto made it look like my tire popped because of my negligence , when in reality their technician cut into my tire. I've learned later that a tire is supposed to be deflated before putting it onto the machine. If it isn't, the tire would be cut. Coast auto technician tried to take a short cut by not deflating the tire. I have pictures which shows it clear as day. They completely took advantage of me not knowing enough about the tires and me being their with my infant son knowing I was short on time. The company and their employees are lairs, cheats and thieves. What they did to me was morally and ethically wrong. read more

Customer service: Customer service is great, they greet you and walk you through how they work the first time you walk into the shop. Trouble shooting: I took my car because it started overheating that day, I did not let the car to overheat when the problem started. They charge me around $750 to replace the radiator with the guarantee that the car was going to be ok (with the overheating issue). 10 miles after the work was done, it started overheating again, I took the car right back to the shop, the spend over two days to check the car, then they say the car is good, they just had to refill coolant, because it had an air pocket in the cooling system. I took the car and around 30 miles after that and the car started overheating again, I did not drive the car in that condition, this time they help me getting the car in the shop (because I was 10 miles away this time). The car now needs an engine replacement. I understand the overheating condition caused the engine damage, however, the car was in the shop twice to solve this problem and they seem to be not very good at troubleshooting. Conclusion: If you exactly know what you want, like: Tire replacement, oil change, etc... they seems to be good. However, if you want them to troubleshoot an issue with your car, they may not get it right and still charge top dollar. read more

I really wanted to trust this place. I took my car and my wife's old car a couple of times and they did a good job. The prices were a little high but for them being close by I was ok with sacrificing. About six months ago my pistons were misfiring and needed to be fix. They changed the coils and spark plugs and got me on the road. With a two year warranty on the work. I thought great! A few weeks ago I had more misfiring. Took my car in get it checked out. First they call me to tell me they smell fuel so there is something wrong with my fuel system and we need a new pump and system. I said no remember my car was in for this before can you check the work you guys did the last time. Three hours later now I'm told I was down gallon of coolant and my car was overheating and the fuel smell was burnt coolant. I need a new engine. Um no. First i know the smell of fuel and burnt coolant. Second my car never overheated. Third now it sounds like your guessing. Took my car to the dealer. Found out it was the fuel injectors that needed to be replaced. It did take them a while to figure it out. So maybe instead of guessing and telling me I need a new engine, you be honest and tell me you need more time. And my car was not a gallon low on coolant nor did it overheat. Glad I trusted my gut. read more

They Mickey Moused my car after I lpay $350 for new connections. Hey put electrical tape on it and took the cable off the brakes where it should be and removed he cover.tried to overcharge me for a part for 1300,said they can do for 750,nope,the part is no where near that amount! Went back for same thing over and over with my car not starting.ripped off,in the end spent about 1300 and my car still not fixed properly,paid 500 for throttle body and another mechanic telling me I need a new one. STAY AWAY!!! The customer service was horrible and had an altercation because they told me to come at a specific time and after I took the vehicle and the issue was unresolved, Jason claimed I rushed them. (Get serious, I come when you tell me to come). After the second go around the following happened. I go to pick up my car and I see the same person that gave me the vehicle the first time. Seth. I asked him if all checks were conducted because I need to pass smog. He said that he did not do it because he just got in. He checked the vehicle and said the car was good. I walked over to my vehicle and saw a cracked rear bumper with smudge marks still on the vehicle. I told him this wasn't here before and I wanted to know who drove my vehicle (I did know that they had to drive it in order for the car to register the switched O2 sensors). He could not give me an answer, because according to him, he did not drive it and didn't know who did. He contacted Jason and he told him to take pictures. I asked him for Jason's number and I called multiple times. Jason refused to answer because he knew it was me and I proceeded to text him and to this day no response. This establishment claims no responsibility for the damages they caused to the vehicle. My check engine light is still on, my rear bumper is cracked, and I'm out by $460. (I might have to check my receipt I think it might've been slightly more). I recommend no one come to this place. read more

It's generally tough as a woman walking into an auto repair shop- we immediately are wishing for a big strapping Greek God to be by our side to negotiate business on our behalf! Lol!!! I will never go back to another auto care provider. Once I bought my for tires, they've always repaired any flats for free. They've even checked our air pressure before a long distance trip for free. Great customer service walked me through everything showed me they was going to fix my car overheating claim they did pick up car over heated again # didn't bleed it right told them I have a no start but cranks claimed it was starter changed it left came back cause it wasn't the starter. Then they claimed it was fuel pump changed it picked up car came back cause it wasn't it Nd they didn't do it right now car doesn't read proper gas causing no start but crank or did not check fuses or spark plugs in the beginning so I just no not too take no cars here thanks for the help read more

Before I get into detail this shop is by far the best!!!I came here to get my car serviced as it had been in a car accident, some major parts needed to changed, George and his boys took the time to check the car and diagnose it. Like everything else it take time to change parts special when they are major suspension components. Gorge started to explain to me in detail, and show me exactly what he's explaining. We agreed on the work. He right away started to work on the car. I told him I need to have the car ready by a specific time and he made it happen! My car is running great. Stopped on a Saturday for a estimate for my brakes for my Range. Guy on the counter basically said, we are too busy, basically to fuck off. Mechanics traditionally do not win the top award for mannerism but this dude is 5 stars rude. So received feedback from the so called GM today. Immediately failed to further understand why someone would spend the time to provide feedback of their business. Instead he attacks the potential client as a fraud. Ugh! I just left Coast Auto Care after having the WORST experience. I've been a customer for several years. I've remained loyal to this location (previously known as Tire Trax) due to the outstanding and timely service I've received from James D. who takes excellent care of customers. I came in today to complete the services James recommended during my last visit. I knew James wouldn't be in today, but decided to go in anyways as it worked best for my schedule. I spoke with a gentleman named Walter who started off polite and responsive to my needs. We had a good interaction during our initial conversation and he was flexible on the price of the services I needed. He advised me that they were not very busy, but he expected it to pick up later in the afternoon. He quoted me a 90 minute wait for my vehicle to be ready to go. That was reasonable to me and advised Walter that I would remain on-site while waiting. I sat outside for about 25 minutes while on the phone and noticed during that entire span of time that my car was untouched by any of the staff. This definitely caught my attention, but I didn't want to make an issue of it. After I ended my call, I went inside to watch tv and continue waiting. After 90 minutes came and went, I went over to ask Walter for a status update (If James were working, he would have already updated me twice regarding the status of the service and how much longer my vehicle would be until it was ready). Upon approaching the desk, I noticed Walter was eating and visiting with his mother who had come by to see him. I stood there waiting for several minutes while they finished speaking and while Walter assisted another customer who came over after I was already standing there (I can only assume he did this as he knew why I was waiting). Walter made 2 trips to the service bays before finally addressing me (without making eye contact) to advise that it would be another 30 minutes as they did not have the fluid my car needed and that the "guys needed to take their lunch". With a look of frustration on my face and shaking my head, I return to the seating area to wait for my vehicle. 40 minutes later I approach the desk to check again on the status of my vehicle. Walter avoids eye contact, assists another customer on the phone and one in person before he and advises me it will be another 5-10 minutes as they wrap it up. I return the the waiting area again fuming from the unbelievably poor level of service and utter disrespect that Walter demonstrated. Coming from James who goes above and beyond every time to Walter who acts as if I'm not a paying customer who should be kept fully abreast of my vehicle's status and estimated time of completion (without asking) - I'm just confused and becoming angry. 15 minutes later, Walter calls out my name and advises that my vehicle is ready. I approach the desk and Walter asks me what form of payment I will be using. I advise him credit and ask him if he can extend an additional discount given the fact that he did not even come close to meeting his original time and estimate and did not keep me advised of the situation. He advised me that I had already received enough of a discount. I advised him that the his level of service was poor and that he should have been the one to keep me updated on the progress of my vehicle. I advised him that I would take this issue up with James and the owner. After paying for the service, I walk out to get in my vehicle and a mechanic stops me and asks me to wait as they have been unable to clear the Check Engine light. I find this odd as my Check Engine light was not on when I initially came in for service. He advises that it came on due to the movement of the car during service and that the device he's using is freezing up. After waiting another 15 minutes while standing outside of the service bay, another mechanic arrives and is able to clear the Check Engine light. While waiting, Walter comes over to view the situation, but says nothing and returns to the desk. As far as I'm concerned, I will NOT be returning to Coast Auto for any services until the manager or owner addresses the issues I've raised and makes full amends for the time wasted and frustration/anger experienced. I've never had such terrible service at Coast Auto, Tire Trax or any car repair place EVER! I now wish I would have waited until James was there and avoided interacting with Walter who demonstrated a clear lack of professionalism, lack of concern for the needs/expectations of customers, and an overall disrespectful demeanor. read more

This shop is unable to diagnose a car further than plugging in the computer and reading the codes given without any due diligence to diagnose the root cause. Bill diagnosed my car and recommended replacing computer, all oxygen sensors, and the EVAP Solenoid valve because these were the codes he was getting from the computer. However, Bill failed to do any testing of the mechanical components. Bill did not even drive the car before giving his recommendation. I paid for the repair based on Coast Auto's recommendation, and immediately upon driving the car out of the parking lot it was demonstrating the same issues. The repair cost me $1,500 (replacing computer, o2 sensors and valve) and the actual issue was the Catalytic converters, which interact with the oxygen sensors. Any mechanic should have tested the converters before giving a recommendation to replace the electrical components I have filed a formal complaint against Coast Auto, and George Mack. Please avoid the problems that are inevitable when dealing with Coast Auto. 1 read more

Took in my 2012 Corolla last month for a quote on my tires and ended up replacing all four. Super affordable pricing and the staff is really nice. Customer service is great and the waiting area is not bad....good bonus when you have to be waiting for you car for a bit lol.
