Dr. Maddocks and his staff at Coast Dental are EXCELLENT. I went today on an emergency as I had broken my tooth. They were able to accommodate me on the same day and the service was affordable. Dr. Maddocks provides personal and OUTSTANDING service. I have not been to a dentist in over 7 years and was very trepidatious about going and the amount of pain. He made sure that I was numb and comfortable all throughout the procedure. He never left my side once he began working in my mouth and was extremely detailed and patient with me. I will definitely be back and would gladly recommend Dr. Maddocks to anyone that is in need of a good dentist. My only recommendation would be to provide goggles to patient while receiving care (granted I didn't ask for them either) otherwise wonderful. Also, Danny answered ALL of my questions and was very detailed in explaining the difference between flap, bridges and implant. Just had an exceptional experience with the staff and the best dentist I have literally ever been to in my entire life! Why? For starters I didn't have a long wait. Then I had a cleaning with Ashley was awesome to talk to and laugh with... Yep, laughing while getting my teeth cleaned. Then the best part and always the defining moment for me personally is how the Dentist, Dr. Maddocks was VERY respectful to his staff. Yes, that has been a deal breaker for me in the past (just keeping it real). If the dentist is respectful to his staff I know he will also be respectful to me and listen when I have questions, which he did. I had to find a new Dentist since my former one( Ocean Ranch Dentistry) didnt want to do my root canal anymore and wanted to refer me to an Endodontist which meant paying more fees. My husband has already been a patient of Coast Dental so I figured why not just go to them too which was the best decision I've made. Not only did they accept me, they were able to accommodate me at an earlier schedule. Dr. Maddocks is the best! He explains everything about the procedure and will try to save you money as best as he can. He always makes funny remarks that makes me laugh and makes me forget my anxiety especially on major procedures. Please be very careful with this dentist. HE is not a DR. Make sure he reads and understands your health and your medical conditions (which you fill out IN your file) before having surgery there. After having my dental service provided by the military for over 34 years I had to find a local civilian Dentist to take care of me. Thankfully after reading through Yelp reviews and talking to some neighbors I decided to try Coast Dental. Dr. Maddocks is knowledgeable, highly professional and has a wonderful calming "chair side" manner. I found it impressive and also interesting that he could tell from my previous dental work the era when that type of technique was used. Graduate of the prestigious Northwestern Dental School and an avid surfer. Need I say more?!?! The Dental Hygienists are top notch and do outstanding work. Now I know what a real teeth cleaning experience is supposed to feel like, awesome job. The front staff is also great! My drive to their office is over an hour from our house, but we never hesitate to come here for dental work! I cannot stress enough how professional and friendly the staff is. I just had a baby 7 days ago but I was scrambling to find a dentist ASAP due to horrible tooth pain. We just recently moved to the area, and based on reviews, I chose this office. I am so glad that I did! EVERY single person I encountered was polite, friendly, professional. I felt like I'd been coming here for years! They saw me the same day I called, turns out I had an absessed tooth that required a root canal! They did everything to ensure that the procedure was done quickly, comfortably (gave me a blanket in the chair!), and most important.... painlessly. Dr. Maddocks is my hero!!! Due to financial reasons I had to go see another dentist. I was told by one that I had a massive cavity that needed to be filled but he would do it when I came in for my next cleaning... really? Then I went to another who said all I had was a discolored filling. Well, to my dismay when I went in to go see Dr. Maddocks he informed me that I did have a large cavity. Thankfully, being the amazing and skilled dentist he is, he managed to save my tooth and save me from a root canal. The dental staff is awesome, suuuuuuper nice and the office staff is very helpful and friendly as well. They offer payment plans and will work with you anyway they can. Beware- During a routine cleaning I was bombard by un-wanted political verbiage from the hygienist. Nobody wants that especially while sitting in a dental chair. That was over two years ago. So far so good! Dr Maddocks office was referred by a couple co-workers who had nothing but great things to say about him. I needed a crown after getting a root canal at a different location. Everyone I encountered (from the front office to the dental assistants) were all relaxed, pleasant and happy! Happy employees = excellent service! As Dr. Maddocks prepped my tooth for the crown, I watched TV overhead. He sang and hummed as he worked, which made it so much more relaxing for me! That meant he loved what he does and is confident at what he does. Danny also created the mold for my crown and he fixed the botched job from the previous dentist - where they shaved down so much of my tooth that it affected the bite so much that my jaw started to hurt! Great job Danny! I would give them 5 stars just for this 1st visit alone. But, will reserve to do that once I come back at least one more time. read more

Coast dental is wonderful. They got me in quickly for a dental emergency. The office wasn't crowded and they have a rather large waiting area. Dr. Maddocks extracted a tooth for me and he did wonderful from the numbing to getting the tooth out. The dental assistant and dental hygienist were very nice and informative about everything. Will definitely be going back. Would also recommend this dentist to anyone embarrassed of their teeth. First off, I've been to a lot of dentists (unfortunately) and all of them had some good attributes and some bad. Coast Dental is by far the best Dentist office I have ever been to. The staff is friendly, caring and energetic. Wait time is very minimal which is odd because the office is always busy with lots of patients. Dr Mattox is friendly, explains everything in detail and always gives you options based on your insurance policy and what you would like to pay. I recently had an emergency and he came in on a Sunday to repair my bridge that had came loose. The bridge came loose because of me grinding my teeth at night...not because of his work. His work is the best I've ever seen. Dr Mattox really cares about his patients and it's evident in how he treats us and the exceptional work he does. I will not go to another dentist! Amazing service and care... we made the drive from La Mesa to Oceanside because they were the only dentist that were quick and so helpful to get my fiance in for a dental ermegency after calling everywhere in San Diego. The girl that helped me on the phone (Ashley) was so kind and helpful and truly seemed to care about his emergency. They were able to get him in on a Saturday and we were taken care of very quickly for the emergency we had. The staff and dentist himself were friendly and showed they truly cared. Made us feel very comfortable. They were simply wonderful and even though we live 50 minutes away this will now be our dentist of choice necause they definatley make it worth the drive. I went here for a crown when I wasn't able to go to my regular dentist. Everyone that I encountered was extremely helpful. The estimate that they gave me over the phone was very accurate. I had my first dental appointment today at Coast Dental. I was a little worried about the initial appointment. I have full mouth hybrid dental implants, they were not done at this office. The front desk office staff greeted me and introduced herself to me. The impression of the front desk staff is very important. They set the atmosphere for the whole appointment. After the new patient paperwork, I was greeted by my dental hygentist right at my appointment time. Since I was a little more complicated cleaning case, she made me know I was in fully capable hands to meet my needs. After a very thorough cleaning and polishing Doctor Maddocks came in to do my exam. The Doctor assured me he would be very happy to take care of my dental needs. I tried to get an appt. for a checkup. Receptionist said her computer was down and would call back. No call. I called them again and the woman was so asinine and inept it was laughable. She kept asking me my name (which I spelled 3 times for her) and wondered if I wanted a cleaning 3 times. I said no, I want 2 xrays done..that's it. She never could find any date to get me in. Just a complete waste..go back to your phone or Facebook page sweetheart, you just lost a customer because answering the phone is obviously too much for you. Complete BS. Plenty of other dentists around. If I could give 0 stars I would just because of an screwed up employee. I'd rather drive to Mexico than come back to Coast again and I live right across the street. read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Maddocks and his entire staff; knowledgeable, professional, efficient and just plain nice to be around!!! I had been going to another dentist for many years and after much procrastination went to see this other dentist with some major problems. After a relative cursory look by the dentist, I was presented with a get well plan which cost, after insurance, $8700.00. Of significance are the charges of $1540 for period. scaling and $1185.00 for resin fillings. Needless to say, I was going to get a second opinion! I am a veteran, have Tricare Retiree Dental Program, and found that Dr. Maddocks was in the network. I received a comprehensive exam from Dr. Maddocks, a general teeth cleaning, a reevaluation exam and finally an out-the-door quote. The final result was that period. scaling was not required, the resin fillings were intact and did not need to be replaced. The out-the-door cost was $2185.00 versus my previous (now ex-) dentist's quote of $8700.00. Dr. Maddocks' work is reasonably priced, of the highest quality and he only recommends what is necessary. All of his recommendations are accompanied by clear and understandable explanations of the whys and alternatives. If you are in need of a dentist, you simply have to take a hard look at Coast Dental. I believe they are the "best value" in North San diego County. read more
