love that this is a family owned local shop. it's a walk up service there's no seating inside, so we took our icecream to the pier to eat! we ordered the coastal cookie in a waffle cone and the cookie dough in a sugar cone. most of the ice creams were homemade which i loved. the coastal cookie dough was fantastic and had big chunks of cookie dough throughout. the cookie dough icecream was mainly just cookie dough with a little ice cream lol still good though.
I came here around 8pm on a Saturday night. There was a line a little bit out the door, but it moved quickly. There's cute merchandise inside and a big list of ice cream flavors. Seems like they are also known for their cookies and serving ice cream sandwiches with their cookies. Not much room for standing/eating inside. A lot of yummy flavors but only certain ones are marked as "homemade" - not sure what makes the homemade and non-homemade ones different. I got Oreo in a cake cone, and it was delicious! Perfectly creamy. I think I paid around $6 for it. Very centrally located spot downtown.
As I was walking around the city and needed a little snack, so I thought I'd try this ice cream shoppe. The shoppe is quaint with approximately 20 options of the ice cream to choose from. I decided to try the Maine Blueberry (2 scoops). The service was okay, seemed like I was interrupting her from her phone time. I would have enjoyed seating and enjoying the ice cream but I didn't see any tables. The ice cream was good.....
Stop by after dinner because I wanted something sweet. It was definitely a chilly day, but this ice cream was perfect. It was so fresh. The taste was amazing and the shop itself is absolutely adorable. The young lady who was working was so friendly. And she was super helpful when we were selecting flavors. I will definitely be back in the summer.
After walking around for more than an hour, this was a perfect spot to get some delicious ice cream. This is a beautiful small store, with some space to sit inside the store. In the other corner they have some store swags for sale. They had about 20 flavors in the menu. Three different cup sizes were available. The price was very generous, small for only $5.40. We picked the vanilla ice cream with m&m topping. Our whole family loved the flavor and texture of the ice cream. It was dense and really creamy. No icy patch in the middle. There were two teenagers at the register. Both were very attentive and gave everyone a friendly service. Lots of people outside the store were hanging out and eating the ice they got from the store.
Walking in downtown area and decided to pop in to get some ice cream. We got a vanilla with m&m. Very creamy and silky. Great flavor and portion. A lot of people going in and out. They must be popular. The staff were efficient and nice. Flavors and toppings decorations on the wall. Take-out only. Some merchandise of the brand to purchase if you like. I feel all the food places in this downtown have their own merch to sell. One way to make more money I guess. Overall great spot for ice cream and snacks. If I return, I'll try other flavors.
Right off Commercial Street you'll find this ice cream shop, had to get one since we saw everyone walking around with ice cream cones. They had a decent selection of flavors, we tried their Maine Tracks and of course your originals, Vanilla and Chocolate. Decided on kid sizes since we just wanted to try it but the servings are generous which is a plus in my book. The ice cream itself was just okay but the kids loved it.
My review is for their food truck. We chanced upon their food truck at the Fitzpatrick Stadium while waiting for the Hearts of Pine soccer game to start. I was intrigued by the Banana Nilla Swirl which hubby also got. We got both orders in a cone. They serve the ice cream in a sugar cone which is nice. $6 was fair in a ballpark. The ice cream was delicious and we would certainly get it again. Didn't get a picture of the ice cream since it was raining :( Service was fairly quick though they did have a decent amount of people in line. Btw, they don't take cash at the food truck.
After trying lobster rolls all throughout the city a dessert it in order. They have many selections in icecream and different ways you can get it. I had the snickerdoodle and cookies and cream icecream sandwich. The cookie was still warm which paired extremely well with the icecream. Usually when I have this the cookie is hard and it's annoying to eat but biting into this was effortless and smooth. The lobby is small so space is limited and mines can seem out the door but it is pretty fast.
We walked by after dinner and saw the gorgeous ice cream scoops and massive cookies people were eating, so decided to wait in line and try some on our first night in Portland. The ice cream isn't anything to rave about, and we didn't even finish our cup of two scoops of ice cream. Workers are nice and service moves quick. Just wish they had standing tables so you don't have to stand awkwardly in the corner or outside to eat your treats.

The flavors are prominently posted but what I noticed first when walking in was the wonderful aroma of fresh-baked cookies! Had it been a cooler day I definitely would have ordered one (or more) but being that it was kind of hot and humid, we opted for ice cream. We got the black raspberry and it was a nice sized scoop and very thick and creamy. Perfect treat on a hot day to enjoy strolling the area.

Excellent ice cream, great varieties including toppings and a decadent ice cream sandwich. This family biz started in Fanuel Hall in Boston in 2011. Whether you are a vacationer or a Mainer try an ice cream.located on the corner of commercial st next to D'Millo's restaurant parking lot. read more

Super fast and friendly service! The store is super cute and well kept. The ice cream is top notch!! Creative and fun flavors. Delicious!! It's as good as Ben and Jerry's better. I totally loved the black raspberry one. Wow!! Get 2 scoops and try a couple. I hope to go back soon! read more

Today was an extremely hot day, Portland, Maine. Looking to try me ice cream. The storefront is very cute however it is small. There's nowhere to sit and no bathrooms available. When you walk to the ice cream shop, there are lots of people standing outside eating their ice cream. it would be nice to have some sort of seating somewhere nearby. If not in the store that's the only reason for the four stars. The staff was super nice. We both enjoyed our ice cream. I do recommend going there but just be aware that there's nowhere to sit.. read more

Coastal Creamery is a great little ice cream shop. The service is okay. They won't let you try any of the favors and that is really unfortunate, so knocking a star for that. And really I should knock more stars for that. I hope management will change their rules on sampling flavors. They have such unique flavors but without trying them out first, it's hard to commit to a flavor! The vanilla and sea salt cookie are my favorite ice cream flavors! I usually buy some Oreo to put in the vanilla, so good! The establishment is cute for an ice cream place. The ambiance is alright too. read more

Yummy icecream. We did the cookie sundae for $10 (chocolate chip cookie, two scoops icecream, topping, whipped cream, and hot fudge) and shared it between two people. Was great. Salted caramel and blueberry were our favorite flavors read more

I would give this place 100 stars if I could. Came here late Saturday evening and they had a short line out the door. The line moved quickly as the friendly employees took care of our orders. Ice cream was delicious but the cookies topped the charts. I am still thinking about the chocolate chip cookie warm from the oven a few days later. It was so delicious. I would recommend to anyone coming to visit Portland. No bad notes here. read more

This is some delicious ice cream and the story about the couple who opened it, is beautiful. Having met and later married in 2011 they where committed to each other and ice cream. This shop opened in 2023 and I would highly recommend it! read more
Mediocre ice cream that's very expensive. I was looking for a treat while exploring downtown Portland and happened upon coastal creamery. Offerings and flavors seemed promising. I opted for just a scoop of cookie dough in a waffle cone. I really wanted to love this place, but the idea team was just okay. Nothing to go back to. Service was good and location is very convenient for strolling folks. read more
