I wanted a specific oil so I took in my own along with a filter. They charged me $150.90!!!! even though I supplied my own oil and filter claiming that supplying my own put it at a different rate. These folks are the worst, My son's car broke down in Dewey. It was towed by Coastal. I went to their office and told them to make the repairs. 5 or 6 days go by and I stop to check on the status. They told me nothing was done since I did not pay their storage fee. Three hundred dollars I pull out my credit card to pay the bill. They would not accept it. I had to pay in cash!!! I had to make a trip to the local ATM. After the storage fee was paid, it took these geniuses a week to fix a relatively simple mechanical problem. WARNING if you have these people tow your car do not let them fix it. I have had 3 people tell me today Coastal is a major rip off. Now I know from experience. They fixed a part that was not broken and when returned made the same noise it had before repairs and it was fixed. The chances of a fuel pump and alternator going out at the same time is extremely remote. And they charged 20 more then the going rate for the repairs. Towing was $95 for one mile. They make me feel like I'm a part of their family. They are very hard working people and dedicated to their jobs. If you need any maintenance work on your vehicle, I highly recommend CT. I've read negative posts regarding CT and they all had to do with towing and not maintenance. I'm sure they would have posted the same comments no matter what company showed up! Took my vehicle to Coastal Towing after years of decent service. I was told my vehicle would be done in two days. Two weeks later, my vehicle is finally done and they charged me hundreds more than the estimate. There was no phone call regarding the extra parts or approval of the other work they did. They also never called me during the two week span for an update or approval on the change in the estimate. Their response was to either pay or not get my vehicle back. I will never return there again. Be very careful if you get them to service your vehicles, so you don't get taken advantage of either. If I could supply zero or negative stars, I would. I have never been more disrespected in my entire life. A car was about to be towed from a rental property where there are NO signs indicating that street parking is not allowed. The car was literally parked there for 2 hours on a dead end street, clearly not in the way of anything as all the rental properties around us were unoccupied. The parking enforcer demanded $100 cash (shady) to release the car since he had "already called it in and if [he] came back without the money they would think [he] stole it". When my friend asked to speak with his manager/boss (who is this little boy's daddy), he called him on his cell and said "a bunch of women are here," along with saying that we "need a grown man to handle this situation". I was completely taken aback and offended that someone would even have the audacity to say that to a group of adult women in their 30s. I proceeded to say "not that it matters, but we're all doctors here. We don't need a 'grown man' to handle anything". We contemplated calling the police so those "grown men" could handle this boy essentially trying to steal my friends car. We had just arrived at the property 2 hours before to begin a vacation weekend at the beach, so we eventually gave in to his demands and gave him $100 cash to basically get out of our faces so we could get on with our day. After a little digging on the internet I found out that the police department/city has a contract with this company for when cars need to be towed from the scene of an accident, so I'm sure calling the police would have done zero good anyway and only further delayed our vacation. As this little boy was walking back to his truck to drive away he said "all those doctorate degrees and you still can't figure out how to park a car," and "all those student loans sure helped out." I'm sorry that my doctorate degree didn't teach me how to read an INVISIBLE sign. This company is not only rude and sexist, but extremely shady. If you're in the position where you need to call a tow company (and not one where the cops have already called these animals) PLEASE save yourself the headache and call **literally anyone else**. You'd honestly be better off trying to get a group of people to push your car wherever you need to go. ZERO STARS. TL;DR completely rude, disrespectful company. Wow! Talk about backwoods janky with employees that match the stereotype! Absolutely terrible excuse of a business. Friend had an incident in which they gained possession of her car at 4am. At 2 that afternoon she called them to see what the fee would be to pick her car back up. The woman on the phone explained it would be $150 with a $50 daily fee tacked on each additional day. We get there however and suddenly it's $200. The same woman who on the phone said $150 if we get it that day then turned around and claimed that we didn't understand properly. I raised the point of the vehicle literally having been there for just that morning so the extra day fee shouldn't even have been put on but they didn't care. Gross business. Disgusting people. Arrive via uber only to be told CASH ONLY...(super they mentioned it on the phone when I called.prior) $150 for storage (my car was towed at 10"45pm ahd retrieved by 10am) AND $100 for tow... $250 CASH ONLY...no credit card, debit card or personal check. Our truck broke down on Costal Highway at Bike Week in OC a few weeks ago. 3 out of the 4 brake calibers went out on us. We tried to call AAA but they couldn't tow a truck as big as ours. So we had mutual friends that live in Lewes DE and recommended Coastal Towing. They came right out and made the truck fit on the tow truck. Very nice tow truck driver by the way. They knew we were headed home to Frederick MD on Sunday. This all happened Wednesday afternoon... the truck was ready Friday afternoon. Very friendly and fast service. Not knowing what we were getting into, we had to trust her. The tow truck got there within 5 minutes of her calling. And within 3 minutes our car was on it's way to the shop. Long story short. They diagnosed the problem, which we figured was it, and got us back on the road within 2 hours. They gave us updates the entire time and everyone was extremely nice. I suppose as it goes in having your car towed, perhaps it could've been worse. It is however that a cost of $240 for a less than 1 mile tow from the beach area to their virtually unfindable lot on Rehobeth Avenue - and in cash - is unreasonable and predatory. Can't say that anyone was rude and maybe you could even say somewhat efficient - I only waited five minutes or so at their lot - but that was only because they were towing in another unfortunate. I understand that a towing company has to handle some pretty horrible situations - towing vehicles belonging to individuals who die while on the road. That being said, Coastal Towing is cruel and opportunistic. They charge daily for vehicles in their possession, without any notice to the family. I started off my vacation with a dead battery. Coastal towing came to give me a jumpstart within 15 minutes. Glen showed me that I had corrosion on the connectors that could be the cause, but also indicated that the age of the battery could be the problem. So I decided to go down to the shop just to make sure my battery was still good. They took my car immediately and installed a new battery in record time! Horrible I was charged $400 to tow my truck less than 10 miles. I was told that I could only pay in cash which I thought was funny. I guess with no real paper trail and they wouldn't have to pay taxes on money.
