I'm upset that the string beans were unremarkable... bland...Because the ribs and bbq chicken entrees were amazing in the church pan that Sista Marvin sent you home with after a long assed service. The Mac n cheese was savory (not baked from church) but still very good! The collards were impressive & I'm so happy they were actually collards and not Swiss chard like these jokers tried to gaslight me in NY years ago... I digress ... I always forget this is here but it is always spot on and delicious every time. For being so close to the beach, they don't need to be good but the service and food are great! It's a big space with plenty of drink and food options. My favorite bbq and macaroni and cheese in the area. I don't usually enjoy chicken out of the house but theirs is so tender and tasty. This is one of the very rare places in San Diego that makes house made Pastrami that's thick, juicy, spiced, and tender...not the massed produced Dietz and Watson thin sliced pastrami served at most eateries offering a pastrami sandwich. $17 Jeremy Sandwich...a generous serving of that thick, meaty, juicy pastrami, along with cole slaw, kraut and 1000 Island dressing, all between fresh slices of fragrant rye bread. Delicious! But that house made pastrami is sooooo freaking good on its own! I might just try to order it with a BBQ Plate next time. This also comes with a choice of side, I got the street corn which was fantastic and fresh with the right amount of crema and spices. Friendly staff in a very chill beach vibe environment. I had the loaded nachos and an alcoholic beverage named "cool down" a cucumber infused tito's handmade vodka, lime, ginger beer, angostura bitters recommend by Roldan Alejandro. The (female) bartenders are chronically more interested with catch-up gossip with the locals than servicing customers who are waiting, and waiting, and waiting, at the bar. The filets were a bit dense but flavorful and they were generously portioned. The fries were soft and delicious as I like them. The slaw was not so good. I don't eat the slaw. Ever. WOW! Coaster Saloon wasn't even on my radar - we dropped in when walking by Belmont Park. Our first visit, we had the "Party of 2" - and everything was so good, we ate much more than we usually do (we usually split a meal). The brisket was probably the best we've had in years, just so tender and tasty. The pulled pork was juicy, tasty and excellent as well - not dry like many other BBQ restaurants. The bacon potato salad was, well, terrific. The baked beans were spectacular too. But let me tell you a secret: the street corn side was worthy of ordering 3 times so you have enough to take home. We decided to have a nice family vacation for 4th of July with the extended family which ended up being a group of 10, mostly kids. The area was absolutely crazy for the entire weekend. Luckily, Coaster Saloon was a Godsend for us!! Walking in with the entire group, their staff was extremely friendly and got us seated on the patio immediately. Their seating is great because there are picnic tables outside with sports/kid-friendly content on the TVs along giant jenga and giant connect four for the kids. It's also a great place to people watch while folks are exploring the area. Our server was Avi and he was super cool. He immediately got waters for the family including plastic ups with lids for the kids (without asking). From start to finish, the service from Avi and the team was spectacular!! On to the food... Over the course of 2 nights, it felt like we tried everything: Texas Nachos, Wings, Fish & Chips, Rack of Ribs, Brisket, Q Burger, Brisket, Pulled Pork Sandwich, Chicken Tenders, Kid's Burger, all of the sides and several drinks. We can honestly say that all of the food was fantastic, made fresh and full of flavor. The standouts were the Fish & Chips, Ribs and Burgers. These had to be some of the best Fish & Chips I've ever had, freshly battered with great flavor, tender but flaky fish and fresh cut fries. My son was craving for BBQ and the closest one that showed up on my Yelp search is this place called "COASTER SALOON". When we were Driving towards the place, I noticed that Belmont park ( small theme park ) is just in front of their restaurant. We got in and we got greeted by this Awesome server named HOLLY, and We ordered : * BBQ FEAST - It has Brisket, Smoked pulled Pork, Bbq chicken breast. For the four sides that came with it, we chose Killer Baked Beans, Fries, and Mashed potatoes. It also comes with Texas Toast, House Pickles, and onions. * HAIL to MARY 28 oz BBQ MEGA MARY The BBQ FEAST MEATS were all good, it was soft and easy to eat, and it had a good smokey flavor. The Fries, mashed potato, and toast all had a normal taste, but their KILLER BAKE BEANS were so good!!! Their Killer Bake Beans Bbq has such a good flavor that I just cant stop eating it. I also liked their House Special pickles and onions, it adds flavor to the rest of the meats. This Bbq Feast was very filling. For my HAIL MARY MEGA MARY, it was a yummy one. I love Bloody Mary, and this place makes a good Bloody Mary. My drink already had a strong Spice on it, but I like my Bloody Mary spicier, I saw a Tabasco on our Table and just poured more into my drink, then I was satisfied drinking my 28 oz Bloody Mary :) As you can see in my photo my drink is a Dinner set already. On top of my MEGA MARY there are Spare Ribs, Bacon, Chicken Tender, Fried Jalapeño, Carrot, Green Olives, and a Pickled green bean. It's a Good location with Good food and Good Service . I've been to the sister location (Del's Hideout) in Grantville and enjoyed the food in both locations. It's right next to Belmont Park which is a plus since you can break away from the beach or the amusement park for some good barbecue. I got the chicken breast sandwich with the bacon potatoe salad and enjoyed my meal. Only negative was how much the prices rose from the last time I've eaten here. $20 for sandwich and side seems pretty steep to me. read more

We couldn't have asked for better service! She took on the job of serving our group with ease. Everyone raved about the food and how good it was. We tried the onion rings, chicken tenders, ribs, pulled pork, brisket and bbq chicken breast with the ribs and brisket being the favorite. "The Coaster" has a casual setting, perfect for our party. Quick service, barbecue is legit and delish. It has the feel of a saloon for sure because you walk in and boom there's a giant bar in front of you. But the menu is teeming with briskets, ribs, chili, all the good messy stuff you'd expect from a Barbecue joint. Back in the day they had the best steak and eggs in Pacific Beach, but they've been bought or changed management so it's all barbecue items on the menu. Try the Big O' Melt. It won't disappoint. And this is a little detail but it's important to me: the fries are thin and crispy. One negative: they have mock tails, which is great, but one of our party ordered the "Luchador". It taste like grapefruit juice and bath water. Avoid. The Impossible Rita was way better. read more
