This place was so good! We had to enjoy our 4th of July here, with the food exceptionally delicious, service was kind, and the patio seating was phenomenal. Flavors are to die for, and the fireworks were displayed right out front! You have to stop on by!

Public House is in my fiancé's and my rotation of La Jolla restaurants we regularly visit. There's a lot to love about it, like... 1. The food is really good. I've been here over 20 times and I order something different each time. The burgers, sliders, sandwiches, and flatbreads have nearly all been cooked and seasoned perfectly. They are balanced, there are a ton of options, and unique offerings like elk and bison are available. The menu rotates often. All of their sides have been good as well, even the salads!! 2. They have a sick beverage selection. From belgian ales, ciders, and sours, to stouts and pretty decent wines, there is surely something you'll enjoy drinking here. They often have Pliny the Elder (my favorite IPA), and they have even had Pliny the Younger for at least the last two releases. We were stoked to find this out and definitely plan to come here for the next release if they offer it again. 3. Woody, the owner, is often here walking around and checking on people, and I've seen him wipe and bus tables too. Love Woody's Hawaiian Wednesdays, where you can see him sporting one of his Hawaiian shirts and running 1/2 price sandwiches and flatbreads to his customers. Really, all of the people who work here are great. 4. This is the most Californian-style pub I've ever seen. Half of the seating is outdoors (mostly covered), a fourth of the seating is shared, and it's very much a local favorite. The customer base here can mostly be described as "dudes who just got done doing something active." Mostly golfing or surfing. Everyone is very friendly though. 5. They have amazing deals on a lot of their menu, you just have to pay attention to what's on special for the day you're going. It's always half off (now dine-in and with a purchase of alcohol only). Mondays are for sliders, Tuesdays are for burgers, Wednesdays are for flatbreads, sandwiches, and wine bottles, and Thursdays are for tacos. From 3pm to 8pm. They also have half-off select appetizers and $2 off beer 3-6pm M-F. With all of that said, I will just briefly mention that there are some items here that I do not recommend, like the Oktoberfest burger (if it is the same one from 2024), and the recent Miso Ahi Wrap. Just not very balanced items and seemingly a bit thrown together. I personally also haven't enjoyed the tacos I've tried--which have been vegetarian and pescatarian tacos--so either I've tried the wrong ones or maybe I recommend skipping Thursdays.

Great burgers. Fast service and outdoor seating. Big 1/2 pound burgers really hit the spot after scuba. Sweet potato fries were delicious and tasted very fresh. Loved the peppers, sauce and avocado on the Santana. Calamari appetizer had great cocktail sauce.

We walked right up and were seated on a Sunday. The food portions were so big. Everything was made fresh and it was all so full of flavor. This place is family friendly and there is nearby paid parking if you can't find street parking. The menu offers a wide variety and there is a kids menu. It's a nice vibe with friendly staff.

Fries and tater tots are perfect!! We wanted a quick lunch before going out for the night and came during happy hour. The mushroom bacon burger had a healthy amount of mushrooms and very crispy bacon. The fries were the perfect amount of crispy on the outside and the garlic Parmesan fries are coated heavily in garlic. The blue cheese dressing was perfect to put on the burger and fries. Our waitress also had an amazing dad joke for a Hefeweizen that we ordered. Despite it being busy she was very kind and welcoming. My only issue with service was that our drinks were empty for a decent amount of time and we never refilled but it was also pretty busy and hot out.

The service was very fast. Food was super good!! Didn't feel like I was in La Jolla because of how cozy and cabin-like the place felt. Definitely recommend. A bit pricy but a given due to it being La Jolla.

The food was delicious. I had the La Jolla cove burger with a side of Parmesan fries. Such a good pair. The service was fair. The ambience was decent. The menu must be accessed through QR code.

Our friends brought us to this spot and it did not disappoint! The service and food was sooo good and they have a ton of drink choices. Top tier fries Burgers: 10/10 Calamari: 8/10 Spicy chicken wings: 8/10 Kove drink is listed under cocktails menu and is passion fruit + lime. So good and refreshing! We wanted to order more but they ran out.

We came here Saturday afternoon for lunch. The restaurant was decently busy. We sat at the bar so we could watch college football. I ordered the Chicken Cobb and a glass of white wine. Cobbs are my favorite salad, whenever I see one I pretty much always order it since i will never make it at home because I will never have all the ingredients at one time. The Cobb was good....adequate amount of chicken and other components. My friend ordered the Patty Melt and a beer. He said it was just okay because it was not the kind of patty melt he had expected or been used to. Bartender was fun and friendly. We would come back again. I rated 4 instead of 5 stars because they only served beer and wine. If it had been a full bar then I would have given 5 stars. :0)

Came here to watch a soccer game on a Saturday since I had an appointment nearby. This is the PERFECT place to watch a game. Literally pretty much everywhere you sit has a television in view. There is a bar outside with numerous TVs but we opted to go inside. We had their mimosa flight and everything was tasty. Then we had the flatbread and the Kobe sliders. Everything was great! Special shout out to Alex C. who was our server. She was PHENOMENAL, had a great attitude, and was so fast to help not just our table but everyone around us quickly. It's La Jolla so make sure to add in time to find parking. With that said we went midday on a Saturday and there was no seating wait for the restaurant which was great! All in all will definitely be back!

The House of the $30 Burger...! I truly can't understand why they chose to charge $30 for a burger as if on a beach in Hawaii, but if they did, then why not make it at least eatable? I was looking a this black charcoal mass thinking how do I eat this and why? Why?... cuz I'm paying $30 for it. It was awful *see pics*

The ravioli was the standout of the night, thin pasta with just enough filling for a delightful bite. The bucatini all'amatriciana wasn't quite what I'm accustomed to, the guanciale was ground rather than diced, and the sauce leaned more toward a meat sauce with an oily finish, not really my style, though the pasta itself was cooked well al dente. The steak, on the other hand, was excellent. Cocktails were great, and the staff were attentive throughout. For dessert, the trio was a nice way to sample a few things, though I wish they offered smaller sampler portions instead of full-size pieces. The Basque cheesecake was excellent and the semifreddo was perfect with a nice crust. The chocolate torte was good but couldn't compete with the other two. Overall a strong dinner spot in La Jolla, especially for pasta lovers and sunset views.

We called an hour ahead to reserve a table and luckily they had availability. We ordered the crudo and octopus as appetizers. The crudo was served with fresh tuna topped with a sweet melon sauce (not to my liking, but still appreciated). The octopus was delicious. For our entrees, we ordered the pistachio pesto pizza, raviolli, and beef ziti. The pizza was my favorite (i love anything pistachio) especially enjoyed the pistachio pesto. I appreciate the thin dough of raviolli and the ziti was good. Overall food was good. Our server's name was Kevin, he was friendly and gave great service.

My husband and I came to The Spot for the World Cup Final and showed up around 10:45 AM to find a pretty long line already forming. When the doors opened at 11, we were greeted and promptly seated by a lovely woman named Kat. Right away, she kindly explained that because of how busy they were, we would need to continue ordering in order to keep our table. Completely understandable considering it was the WORLD CUP FINAL! We also noticed they had signage throughout the restaurant explaining the same policy, so expectations were very clear from the start. My husband and I own a restaurant ourselves, so we tend to notice the little things when we're out. We were both so impressed watching Kat run around the entire restaurant making sure everyone was taken care of, refilling waters, checking on tables, helping the staff, and jumping in wherever she was needed. And somehow doing all of it in heels! Since there were only two of us and we were seated at a four-top, they occasionally sat other guests in the two empty seats at our table. Kat asked us every single time if we were comfortable sharing before seating anyone, which we really appreciated. It was incredibly busy, so we completely understood them wanting to make use of every available seat. Our server, Ryan, was also wonderful and attentive, especially considering how packed the place was! At one point, we watched Kat have to ask the table next to us to leave after they had closed out their check and apparently planned on staying for the rest of the game without ordering anything else. They were extremely rude to her and even shoved the booth table as they were getting up, which was completely unnecessary. She handled the entire interaction calmly and professionally despite their behavior. As restaurant owners ourselves, we know how difficult situations like that can be, especially during a huge event when you have people waiting outside for a table. And the food!! We had their pizza and it was TO DIE FOR!!! Seriously so good. Between the food, the service, and how well the staff handled such an insanely busy day, we had a fantastic experience. Kat and Ryan were great, and we will absolutely be coming back to The Spot next time we're in town!
