Shawn is a great mechanic with wisdom and experience. I told him what other mechanics said I needed for my car's suspension and he said that those parts were fine and I only needed one new CV axle. I can't speak more highly of Shawn. I was referred to him a year or two ago after I was getting outrageous quotes from other mechanics on my car that's not even 10 years old. Shawn has always been easy to talk to, and very trustworthy and definitely doesn't try to up charge me like other mechanics attempted to. Today was the icing on the cake...my car wouldn't start and I happened to be right around the corner from Shawn's shop. I called to question what was wrong before calling aaa and having to wait forever with my four year old child. Shawn, without skipping a beat, offered to meet me to see what was wrong. Sure enough it was just the battery and he went back to grab a battery to jump my car since I was stuck in a parking spot. Shawn is absolutely the most honest and fair guy you will ever work with. It might take a little while to get an appointment, but it's absolutely worth it. Why the possible wait? He's been in business for over 30 years and his customers are very loyal...for a reason. He was highly reommended, so today I brought my Mercedes SUV in for an assessment to see how much work it might need based on a slight oil leak. He gave the car a thorough going over and also checked all fluids, tire pressure, etc.. We talked through the possible reasons for the leak and the process for finding its exact location- pressure cleaning, putting dye in the oil and doing detective work. He itemizes possible costs for each step and each outcome. Based on the slight amount of oil loss, we decided to wait and we'll talk about it again when I come in for the next scheduled service. He was a great explainer and I left there a lot wiser about my car. He spent a lot of time both assessing the car and helping me decide what to do. He didn't charge me a thing. Good business? Sure. He;s earned another loyal customer. But beyond that, he is a really good guy. A guy I'd trust with my car and my future business. I feel very lucky to have him as a mechanic. read more

5 stars to Mark Anderson from the Service Department ! My Jeep Renegade has a transmission issue and I took several times to Jeep dealers in Riverside and a couple times to Coastline Automotive and the last time I was there they said it was fixed it but nothing... the problem returned again and again. Last month I took the car again for oil change and met Mark Anderson from the Service Department and I explained the issue again and he said... you have only 3 months to fix this as your all terrain warrantee is expiring and so I will find the problem... I said ok thank you but in doubt since nobody could find out and fix it or just didn't put the work in it to get it fixed. He calls me after 2 days to pick up the car and told me that they found the problem and that parts are already on the way and that I should be receiving a call soon to bring the car up and yes fix the issue! Got a call today from them and yes... I made sure to thank him in person and leave this review that is not a common thing I usually do because not always you find someone that really cares about the client... but when someone do the right thing... you have to appreciate! This business is unprofessional and terrible. They put in a rebuilt motor. It gave out seven thousand miles later. Any good mechanic would give a 1 year warranty on parts and labor. Their warranty is 90 days, which is nothing. They were rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. They are a joke and don't honor their shotty work. I wouldn't go there if they were the last mechanic in town. Update - They changed a head gasket without machining the heads or changing the timing belt. They essentially cobbled the job together in the first place. I suppose any schmuck can hang a sign up and call themselves a mechanic. Avoid these clowns at all costs. read more

I was referred to Shawn about 10 years ago by a trusted friend here in San Clemente. At the time, I was driving a Toyota 4Runner and it was behaving very oddly. The check engine light was flickering on and off and the vehicle would lurch uncontrollably while accelerating... Knowing I didn't have a mechanic in town, I decided to self diagnose it before bringing it in (just so I wouldn't get fleeced). What I discovered with my diagnosis of the vehicle was that the transmission was shot and the repair would be roughly $3,500.... Bummed out, I brought it to Shawn at my friends recommendation. I walked in and basically told Shawn, "I think I need a new transmission" (stupid thing to say to a mechanic, right?). He told me to leave it with him and he would call me ina few hours after he had diagnosed and priced everything out. Less than an hour later, Shawn calls and tells me that my transmission is fine and I only needed a few new plugs and a coil. Total cost was around $200. I went in fully prepared to spend $3,500 and told him as much!!!! Shawn is as honest as they come. I have never brought any of our vehicles anywhere else since then. Prices are always reasonable... Shawn does not upsell anything... He always makes the right recommendations and is ALWAYS TRUSTWORTHY!!! One time I was out of town and my wife broke down on the side of the road on PCH with the kids in the car. She called Shawn in a panic because I out at San Clemente Island (no cell reception) and he literally went and rescued my family, brought them home, and got our vehicle to his shop.
