I am a sucker for popcorn! I wish I could go into movie theaters to just buy the popcorn without having to buy a ticket sometimes. At least this place has great popcorn on demand so I can stuff my face! I actually usually go with the classic brown butter and sea salt because it's really just perfect. I also appreciate how they ask if you want your bag sealed or should they keep it open and overfill it a little so you can start snacking immediately! Holy popcorn! My husband and I stumbled across this little popcorn stall after visiting the Seattle aquarium and walking back towards Pike Place Market. At first, we just stopped to try the free samples because I absolutely love popcorn. But then we were hooked! This is some of the best popcorn I think I have ever had in my life. We loved it so much we ended up buying two large bags of two different flavors: caramel popcorn and their special butter popcorn. Now I know what you're thinking, "those are pretty classic popcorn flavors that you can find at any large chain popcorn retailer." But the flavor that Cobb's manages to create in their popcorn is something else. I have even looked into seeing if I can get this popcorn shipped to where I live because it was gone far too quickly. Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks, and I often splurge on fresh kettle corn at the farmers markets near me. I'd been looking forward to going to Cobb's all week (since they're closed Tues and Wed). On the day we went, they had kettle corn in addition to their four standard flavors. I was disappointed with all of them. I thought they were all way too salty and the popcorn itself did not seem fresh. (It had a stale texture.) It was all for the best though, because the prices at this place are nuts. No, thank you, I do not want to spend $17 for a small bag (8 cups). And, to me, the salt mix tasted just like Trader Joe's Piquant Popcorn (except way saltier), which is like $3-4/bag. They also do not let you mix flavors unless you get a large bag. My friend did enjoy the vanilla salted caramel enough to get a bag. She later said she regretted it because there were way more unpopped kernels than there should have been and she kept almost breaking her teeth on them. Peter's Kettle Corn in Oakland, CA is much better. It's still expensive (but not this expensive), they have a lot more flavors that they switch out daily, they let you mix flavors no matter which size you order, the popcorn is always fresh, and there are a normal amount of unpopped kernels. read more

Cobb's Pike Place Popcorn was the next shop over and the smells of savory butter, freshly popped corn and sweet tones of caramel wafted in the air. I quickly headed to their shop, before more people realized this newly opened gem before me. While I was there, I got to sample their rotating flavors (and you can too!): Old Fashion Cheddar Vanilla Salted Caramel Ghost Alley Espresso Caramel Brown Butter Sea Salt The Old Fashion Cheddar is the typical classic flavor of what you've might/probably tried. The other three were a wonderful surprise and should definitely be tried! I mean they use REAL vanilla bean pods and local espresso beans from Ghost Alley. After much deliberation and talking with the friendly and informative staff, I had asked if I could do half Espresso Caramel and half Brown Butter. I love sweet & salty combos! The gentleman who was helping me (I can't read his name on the bag) was super kind and was like, "Sure!" They have 2 sizes to choose from, small (pink bag) and regular (gold bag). They even have the option to either heat seal the top for those traveling/gifting OR to have it filled to the very top (BEST VALUE) to eat while you continue to explore the market. As I continued my day walking around the market with my golden bag of Cobb's Popcorn, I kind of felt like I've won the golden ticket and eating it too. Reading about Cobb's Popcorn made me curious. In my opinion, the best popcorn we have ever had is Garrett Popcorn out of Chicago. No doubt the best popcorn we have ever had, and it's not even close. We have been ordering Garrett for years. That being said, we are always curious if there is something better out there which is why we wanted to try Cobb's. Cobb's is located outside of the market at street level across from the water. They offer many flavors and allowed us to sample a few. We ended up purchasing a bag of the brown butter. We sampled the caramel and their signature salt blend. The brown butter was good. Really good. We love brown butter when cooking and baking. Browning your butter brings out a nutty flavor but still has that rich flavor of butter. This paired well with popcorn. Something now we want to try making at home. The caramel was good. Their signature salt blend was the surprise of what we tasted. This actually has three kinds of salt, two kinds of pepper, some onion and some garlic. Very savory. We both felt this was a flavor we would get again. When it comes down to competing with our favorite, Garrett is still the best in our opinion. The kernels at Garrett just puff up a bit more. Cobb's Popcorn get's our vote for more flavors and taste. We are hoping to make a quick stop before we leave to pick up a bag of their signature salt blend and probably at least one more for the road. read more

Cute little spot about a block away from pike's place. Originally came here to pick up some bags to bring home for friends but ended up getting a few bags for myself! The guy helping us offered samples of all the flavors! There was a deal of buy 3 get 1 free but I wanted 5, & he ended up giving us 2 for free! We got 2 of the vanilla salt caramel, a brown butter & sea salt, cheddar cheese, & signature salt blend. You can eat them individually, but I mixed them all in a bowl! Just as delicious! read more

This place is cool! I heard about it on the Pike Place Market Facebook page. They make a limited amount of popcorn every day and once they sell out they close for the day. The smell when we walked out of the elevator was amazing. They had brown butter and salt popcorn, salted caramel popcorn, and cheese popcorn. They had samples out of all 3. I tried the butter/salt one and the salted caramel and both were really good. We ended up ordering a large bag of each to take home. Aaron filled both bags for us right as we ordered and sealed them for us to take home. Service was excellent and popcorn was excellent. This was a great find at the market. Holyyyy sh*t. That's some good mf'ing popcorn. Where do I start? First, I could hear the sirens beckoning call from about 1.5 blocks away. I smell of freshly popped corn wafting in the ocean breeze pulled me towards the pastel pink beacon of maize. I was greeted by a younger dude that seemed so genuinely happy to be helping me in my quest for a cheesy salty snack. The packaging, superb. Ziplock bag, heat sealed at your request. Fancy! But, "what about the freshly popped corn you alluded to?" You may be asking. When I tell you this is the greatest popcorn I've ever had, you'll roll your eyes, chuckle, and think to yourself "This dude is probably friends with the owners or someone who works there." Truth is, I wish I was a friend of the guy that scooped my popcorn because he was awesome. But truthfully, I'm just a customer. A humble man with a insatiable appetite. Honestly, I tried. I tried to save my first bag until I got home but i heard a faint buttery voice calling from the bag... "...just one more handful..." It didn't last 24 hours in my greedy, cheesy fingered mitts. I bought a second bag. This one was secured in my carry on, stowed above so I shan't be tempted by the glimmer of pink and gold packaging.
