Cute shop, convenient location, and tasty treats. Partner was craving some chocolate covered strawberries so we looked around and strolled over here, hoping they were in stock. Checked DoorDash to see their offerings and was determined to be correct. Not really any visibility of their strawberries so I guess that'll be the focus of this review with a picture for anyone searching. There is seating inside as well as some out in the lobby area that connects to Pike. Triple Chocolate Covered Strawberry - this wasn't an option online but was a pleasant surprise. Obviously we had to get the best of all worlds with the chocolates. One strawberry is somewhere between $4 to $5, sold by weight so it will fluctuate. Definitely a bit pricey for a single strawberry but it was delicious and a decent size. Strawberry was juicy, sweet but not overly so, and the chocolate was layered decently. Being one of the few spots with chocolate covered strawberries adds some bonus points. read more

Stop in for their bakery! Especially their cookies! We stopped by once we saw them preparing a fresh batch of cookies and we thought we had to stop by for an impromptu visit! The staff was very welcoming and inviting, especially as we waited for the fresh batch of cookies to bake and then cool down. Once we finally tried them they were delightful! We had the regular chocolate chip and the dark chocolate chunk with pecans. My only wish was if they had another version of the latter minus the pecans. Cookies were pricey, but we will probably be back to explore more flavors or other baked goodies! read more

Stopped in because my daughter saw the cake pops in the window. They had a nice selection of pastries, cookies and other treats. It smelled amazing in there and the staff was really nice. We tried a couple cake pops, chocolate brownie and a chocolate chip cookie. I'm not normally one for cake pops but the Oreo cake pop was really good. The brownie was decadent. I've never had a better to-go experience in my life. No exaggeration. The food and iced coffee from Baxter and Frost turned an extremely stressful day into something beautiful. We didn't realize the Pride Parade was happening and got stuck in downtown traffic for over 90 minutes--literally crawling along the same block. It was chaos. Before that, a vendor at Pike Place Market tried to overcharge me $250 for something barely worth $20. I was irritated, overheated, and emotionally done. But then came Baxter and Frost. I'd seen this place earlier in the day and made a mental note to come back--and wow, am I glad I followed that instinct. I picked up a wildflower iced latte for my sister and two iced hummingbird lattes for me and my mom. They were flawless. Floral, creamy, and balanced with just the right touch of sweetness. I also grabbed the Nutella brownie, a mini blackberry pie, and a savory artichoke spinach puff pastry. Every bite was comforting and flavorful. That pie especially? Heaven. The pastry? Perfectly flaky. The brownie? Rich but not too sweet. And here's the real kicker: I had to walk four blocks down and five blocks back up steep Seattle hills in flip flops, carrying all that food and coffee while wearing a two-piece eggshell white outfit (because yes, I'm from San Diego). Not one spill. Not a drip. By the time I got to my sister and we hit the road to Portland, my feet were throbbing--but that food and iced coffee made everything allllll better. No kidding. It reminded me how good Seattle can be when you find gems like this. They were just starting to get swamped by a post-Pride Parade crowd when I walked out. I caught the sweet spot, and I'm so glad I did. Baxter and Frost is the kind of place you go out of your way for. read more

We were all full after lunch and probably would have missed Baxter and Frost, but the aroma wafting from the entrance enticed us inside. I'm a sucker for freshly baked pastries with an espresso and Baxter and Frost did not disappoint. The mini apple pie with ice cream was AMAZING! We even took one to go. Came here on a Saturday morning from Pike Place. My husband came in craving sweets, so we ordered the Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownie and the Dark Chocolate Cookie with Sea Salt. Both were delicious and soft! The Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownie was and not too sweet; the peanut butter flavor was the right amount and the texture was gooey. The Dark Chocolate Cookie with Sea Salt was soft and gooey without being too sweet; we could definitely taste the sea salt on top. Also, the edges were more crisp and the middle was gooey. Highly recommend these two items! There is seating inside but it was crowded. Most folks were taking a break from Pike Place and left after their snacks/drinks. read more

Now that we've been here on more than one occasion and had the same, consistent, amazing service, I can say that whoever is in charge of service delivery training deserves a raise. Perfect coffee and pastry shop near the Pike Market! It was the fresh pastries sitting on the racks near the street window that drew us in. My husband and I ordered iced lattes and had a berry danish. There are so many sweets to choose from! What a great variety of options of cookies, pastries, ice cream, and so much more. There is also a wall of packaged items for purchase which makes for a great gift or souvenir. The staff were friendly and quick, the line was steady and moved quickly. This is a very nice looking bakery/ice cream/coffee shop located not far from Pike Place Market. They have plenty of interior seating. The ice cream is very rich and creamy. My almost 16 yr old son is still a kid at heart when it comes to cake pops and they had some of the cutest decorated ones in the window so we HAD to go in. He got the Oreo cookie cake pop, my husband got the peanut butter brownie (size is equal to 2 servings) and I have an affection for scones, I chose blueberry, and they warmed it for me. I can't speak for them (except there wasn't a crumb left behind) but my blueberry scone was excellent. Perfectly pillowy soft with the crispy edges and perfect sugar crystals. Great little hole in the wall, with even better cookies! Stopped by here as we were walking to Pikes Market, and had 4 different cookies (buy three, get one deal was great). The cookies as well as the coffee were great! Cookies were huge, but not overcooked, and coffee was good as well (sorry if you just want plain coffee, you can get an Americana). I was shocked when I came here because this is a different spot from the one that we saw last August and the kids came here for some candy. They have ice cream and more pastries. I couldn't eat any. I did get a peanut butter cup and it was huge, but they don't have those here. The person who owns this spot (I assume) greeted us warmly upon entry which was nice. He explained that they didn't have what we were looking for because they had new owners. The grands went away with a candy that was good, and much less fancy than the previous place we visited. I'd peruse and get candy if they had it. But for the pastries and cookies, I can't. This place was quite cute and while I'd just eaten some candy I wasn't looking for something sweet. Every time I've come to Baxter & Frost, the employees have been so sweet! I was in desperate need of a hot chocolate but I mentioned that I wanted it to have something extra, and the guy serving me offered to put syrup in the drink! I ended up with a Peppermint Hot Choco with whipped cream on top, which was great. I have tried their treats as well, and I remember the chocolate flavor really standing out! I stopped by Baxter & Frost in Seattle today and had one of the most disappointing customer service experiences. Two employees were working, but instead of greeting me or offering help, they were chatting with each other and completely ignored me while I looked at the menu and case for several minutes. It was clear they had no interest in assisting customers, so I left and went to Bottega Gelato just a minute away. The staff there were friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. They offered samples and explained their gelato flavors, which made the experience enjoyable. Baxter & Frost left a very negative impression. Honestly, it's pretty sad. If this is how they treat customers, I won't be returning. Save yourself the frustration and go to Bottega Gelato instead. read more

The service was nice and quick. The ambiance felt very clean and seemed like a good place for a quick treat. We got a cake pop, a chocolate covered strawberry, and a bubly soda. The total was around $18 with each item being around $5-6, which seems quite pricy in my opinion. The cake pop was overly sweet and tasted too artificial and not a lot of strawberry flavor. My boyfriend was also not a fan of his chocolate covered strawberry, noting that it the strawberry was bland/not sweet. Overall, we just felt like it was overpriced for the quality. My boyfriend noted that a milkshake was around $16 which feels absurd considering that the ice cream is Tillamook, a mid-range grocery store ice cream brand. Unfortunately at the time their card systems were down and we didn't not have any cash, but we made a mental note to come back and I am SO glad we did. Stopped in on my way to Pike Place Market based on great yelp reviews. Tried their toffee cookie and it did not disappoint. Chewy, crispy, deep caramel flavor....one of the best cookies that I have had in a while. It was so good that I stopped in to buy another one on my way back to the car. The hardest part about visiting Pike Place is that there is so much to choose from and so much competition. Are there better bakeries? Probably. Is Le Panier great and easily accessible on the main strip of Pike Place? Yes. That fact makes it a great choice for your pastry needs.

Through several visits: Baguette, Large ($7.95) - Great baguette with bubbling golden exterior complete with the perfectly baked crust even after waiting 3 hours before cutting in and eating. The interior has the perfect moisture level and is delightfully soft and chewy. The taste overall has a deep developed flavor. This is a great baguette. The only problem - the price. I can find ones for half the price that are maybe 80% as good as this one. (5/5) Seasonal Biscuit ($4.50) - This biscuit definitely isn't Southern-style. It's more of a drop biscuit, combining a relatively soft and tender interior with a nice exterior crust, without any flakiness or layering. The interior is almost cake-like in texture and crumb, and is plenty moist. They add plenty of fresh black pepper inside. It's distributed very evenly, giving a peppery bite with every mouthful. Parmesan is added to the top of the biscuit before baking, giving plenty of umami and richness but only on the upper layer. (4/5) Green Vinaigrette Cafeteria Style Pizza ($6.25) - The pizza is kept under a warming lamp, so it starts getting a little dried out after I assume a couple of hours spent there. I do love the base though - it's focaccia-like giving a really crunchy dark golden brown crust underneath, which supports the toppings. The pizza slice has lots of structural integrity and doesn't flop over. There's a base of fragrant concentrated tomato paste-like flavor which is topped with a very even layer of cheese. Since it's warmed rather than freshly baked, the cheese starts congealing a bit. The cheese is peppered with parsley, garlic, and a bunch of mustard seeds, giving a special zing. The toppings go all the way to the sides of the pie, making it great for people who dislike crust. Even though it's cafeteria style pizza that's kept under heat lamps, I quite liked it. I wonder if I can get a really fresh slice if I get there right at 11AM when lunch starts. (5/5) Chocolate Croissant ($6.10) - Great lamination with a very aesthetic honeycomb pattern. Baked on the harder side, causing fantastic crispy flaky layers to flake off, but also creating a darker golden brown character that is on the verge of bitterness. Nicely buttery soft and chewy interior. Chocolate is a darker variety, probably somewhere around 70%, so it has a pleasing balanced sweetness and chocolate flavor. It's not typical baton, instead seems to be a section from a bar. Still warm and melty even through I didn't eat the croissant until ~30 minutes after purchasing. When cooled down further, some red fruity notes start appearing, so this seems to be be pretty high quality. (5/5) White Sourdough ($12.60) - Now this is a loaf of bread. Superb crust, probably 2 or 3 times as thick compared to competitors, creating a supreme crusty bite with a chew approaching a hard crunch with almost caramelized molasses notes on the bottom. The interior is moist and tender with a pleasing slight sourdough tang. It's a superb piece of craftsmanship. (5/5) Kouign Amann ($5.80) - This is another heavier bake with some acridity development on the top surface. Unlike many other bakeries where the kouign amann is basically a differently shaped croissant with sugar glaze, Sea Wolf's version feels more in line with tradition. The crumb is denser and richer, more like brioche. There's interesting black speckling inside which I believe is due to the inclusion of espresso powder given the mild coffee-like flavor. The crust is again baked hard, but it's lighter and not as flaky as the croissant. They sprinkle just a bit of salt on top of a very light caramelized sugar glaze. It's not very sweet and I didn't find it too salty unlike some other reviewers. (5/5) Plain Focaccia Slice ($4.80) - Good quality olive oil, some salt sprinkled on top to boost the flavors. Light and airy interior, but the exterior is a little wan, being more light golden brown and lacking some good crusty crisp especially on the fried bottom. Quite oily. (4/5) Sea Wolf gives out free sourdough starter, which can be requested from the cashier. Since picking it up several weeks ago, I've gone through several feed/bake cycles for making sourdough focaccia. I've visited Sea Wolf 3 or 4 times in the last month. That's a testament to how high quality their pastries and breads are. I think the only thing stopping me from visiting more is thanks to the starter I got from them fanning my baking instincts. I bake so much now that I don't have any need to buy their bread! Note: Sea Wolf charges a 3% credit card fee. This is not noted on their menu - it only appears in the POS right before paying.
