Had a really great experience here the other day. The service was amazing, food was delicious and plentiful and the place had a great vibe Highly recommend the enmoladas. Both items we got were great to share! Even had some leftovers =P Will def be back!

We stumbled into Cocina De Barrio while looking for a place to grab a quick breakfast before going back home. Parking can be hard, especially during peak hours. The inside of the restaurant was clean and spacious. The decor was modern and vibrant. The service was pretty great and quick too. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. I ordered Huevos Rancheros and Jamaica. The huevos rancheros were smacking. The meat was tender and flavorful. The tortilla tasted fresh, and the dish was well-seasoned. The whole dish was very filling. The jamaica was also refreshing, especially in hot weather. Lastly, I really loved the chili oil. It added a nice kick to the food; I couldn't stop putting it in my food because it was so good. The chili oil wasn't too spicy, but it added another layer of spice to the dish. If I could take the chili oil home, I would. Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Cocina De Barrio. The portion size was generous, and the price was reasonable.

Such a prettily decorated place! Service was great and I was glad they sat us towards the back away from most of the large parties. It can get loud in there. What we got: - Chilaquiles Verdes (minus crema and beans on side): soo good! I honestly loved my dish and the birria was soo yummy! Unfortunately, they overcooked both eggs, so I didn't get to have a runny yolk mixed with my birria. They did give me the saddest side of avocado and had the audacity to charge almost $5 for it - Sopes Benny (hollandaise on side): also very good and we didn't even use the hollandaise. Only downside was that the potatoes were really salty Overall, we really liked this place and I would be happy to come back to try more!

This place is well decorated, but most importantly, it's clean. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. They gave us some great recommendations. Now for the food... I ordered the tacos de birria with lamb. The presentation was amazing! The tacos were flavorful and moist. I have to say, my favorite thing to do is getting my mouth on a moist taco. I'll lick up all the juices. The beans and rice were great, too. I also ordered the horchata, and man, it was delicious. You can tell it's made in-house because every sip has that homemade flavor. The chips and salsa were also excellent. The chips had the perfect amount of salt, and the salsa was thick and wet. Once again, I love thick and wet, it drives me crazy. Overall, this joint is dope. It's a cool, well-decorated spot with great food that makes the whole experience worth it. The food... mmm, the food. You can tell you're eating fresh, whole ingredients instead of something processed or dumped straight out of a can. They even have healthy options, including soyrizo. You leave feeling satisfied instead of bloated from a sodium overload. They definitely love what they do here, and you can taste that love in every bite.

    Mole chilaquiles. 5/5

Food for the most part was pretty good! Prices were fair. I got the mole chilaquiles which were flavorful and delicious. I tried the pancakes which were sweet and fluffy. I had a couple bites of some tacos which had tender meat. The ceviche was alright. I think it could have been served at a colder temperature. Service was mixed. We had a group of 5 people and 2 dogs and hoped to sit outside because of the dogs. There were two 2-people tables on one side and one 2-people table on the other side available. When we asked, they told us they couldn't split us into 3 people on one side and 2 people on the other, but for some reason it was considered a fire hazard. We couldn't really add up how that would be the case since either way there would be two tables used on one side and one table used on the other, but we didn't argue. We ended up asking the last person in our party not to join us until after we ate. Other than that, they were very polite and brought us sauce to try. They were attentive and refilled our waters without request. Inside is nice, but the patio is small and pretty tight for a group of 4 people, so even though it is dog friendly, I'd only recommend pups or eating outside if you're a party of 1 or 2.

My husband and I were looking for a new breakfast place to try out and found Cocina de Barrio! I can't believe we've never been here before and I'm glad we were able to try it out. On a Sunday morning, we were able to get a seat for two right away. Parking/environment: As with any other North Park establishment, dedicate extra time to look for street parking especially if it's a busy time. Modern vibes inside filled with beautiful plants and flowers all around. Plenty of tables all around and it looks like a bigger party can fit. My only complaint is that our two person table was back to back with other tables so it felt tight and stuffy. Food: The portions are huge and our eyes were hungrier than we were. We wanted to share a sweet entry and ordered two savory ones on top of that. We had too much leftovers as the dishes were very filling. Next time, we'll only get one savory and one sweet. -Chilaquilles Rojos ($22.95): crispy tortillas even when slathered with red sauce. Topped with chicken tinga and an egg. -Enmoladas ($22.95): 3 corn tortillas filled with braised short ribs topped with mole and fried egg, served with beans and potatoes. So delicious but very filling! -Churro French Toast ($19.95): french toast cut in 4 triangles, topped with dulce de leche ice cream, served with a generous amount of blueberries, strawberries, and bananas. The churros were made fresh-- soft inside with a good crisp on the outside. This was delicious and I would definitely get this again! Overall: I'd love to come back to CDB to try out their other breakfast items and their dinner menu!

This has been my second time here, I came last week with my husband for my birthday. Unfortunately I did have some complaints. It was way too hot in there. I feel like I didn't really enjoy it because I was trying to eat fast so I can leave and get some ac. Also there was way too many flies, it was really uncomfortable eating and having to worry about all the flies half the time. Lastly, all tables are really close. I understand it's already a small place to begin with but Im not fond of having someone one turn away from me, knowing we can both hear our conversations. The servers were nice, the food was good overall.

The seating outside was right next to a bus lane and wasn't the most relaxing, but the indoor seating was well put together. I kept it at 5 stars because the indoor seating is nice, but it was a 4 star for outside. The staff were super friendly and quick with service. Even recommended the chilaquiles verdes to me and let me tell you.. they were SO GOOD! I saw a review say they were bland but I really felt they were flavorful with the perfect combo of everything in the plate. Will be back for this dish specifically

From the food to the drinks, this place was 10/10! We came here on a Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately. All the employees were kind and didn't make us feel rushed or unwelcome. It's a very mellow atmosphere inside, so it's a perfect place to have a relaxing meal and be able to have a nice conversation with friends and family. They have tons of options for brunch, lunch and dinner. Even several vegan options as well! I ordered the beef birria tacos off the dinner menu. They looked so tasty, I couldn't even snap a pic before they were devoured. They're made with the softest blue corn tortillas. Like pillow soft. The meat they used didn't have any gross gristly pieces in it either, and was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I love all the toppings they added too. It's clear they take care with all their dishes. My cocktail was also so good that I regret not getting a second one, but that just gives me an excuse to be back! This restaurant will always be a staple in my recommendations now!

This place is absolutely delicious! The chilaquiles are amazing! I've tried both the red and green versions, and you really can't go wrong with either. The portions are huge, and my boyfriend and I have shared an order before and still left satisfied. Their café de olla is also fantastic and pairs perfectly with breakfast. A bonus is that they'll give you a to-go cup if you want to take the rest with you. On top of the great food, the restaurant has a wonderful vibe and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. Great food, generous portions, excellent coffee, and outstanding service.

I would do the good, the bad, and the ugly, but there's only good about this place. When you drive by and see a crowd, don't be intimidated, the line moves FAST. With a big crowd, we were seated within 10-15 minutes after being told 30-45 minutes. The staff was great! Nice place with subtle music playing and ample seating. The food, the food was amazing. If you're not a big eater, you easily share a plate. We ordered the chilaquiles verdes, and mazapan pancakes, both were so good. Definitely coming back

The best most professional restaurant in San Diego. Authentic, delicious food. Clean , aesthetic, incredible service that always goes above and beyond. After coming for years I can testify that this restaurant only improves and improves, both their North park and Hillcrest locations never miss. Jose t and DAVID R ! at both locations have always provided perfect service. The most perfect Oaxacan food in town I promise. I have tried almost everything and nothing falls short of delicious and rich in flavor. ( Pictures from multiple different visits !! Always perfect. )

    Green chilaquiles 2.5/5
    Dulce R.

I really hate that I didn't enjoy this place. I love the overall theme and was excited to see authentic Mexican food. A little disappointed a brunch menu wouldn't include a little more variety for coffee drinks such as a latte or mocha. We were seated right away on a Sunday morning. Ordered the Horchata cold brew and cafe de olla. Both drinks were a miss for us, the horchata cold brew tasted watered down and the cafe de olla was okay. We were told the horchata cold brew is just horchata and cold brew mixed together. Not sure if this was true but would be disappointing to know if this was the case that I can just simply do this at home. Food: Ordered Fresas con Crema French toast and Green chilaquiles. Although there weren't many people when we arrived it took about 35 minutes for our food to arrive. Both dishes were underwhelming. The French toast was over saturated with cream and the actual FT lacked flavor and because of the amount of sauce, most of the toast got very soggy. The chilaquiles were not bad but the green sauce could be better and the birria that came was okay. We were not in love with the dish. Our server checked on us a few times, had to wave other servers from time to time when we didn't see ours for a while. It did get a little crammed after a while and tables for two run a bit small and right next to other tables so someone did bump into our table while getting into their seat due to space. Overall cute atmosphere with a good idea but not great execution per what we experienced. I would probably not return.

When we sat down, we were a little surprised that the brunch menu was pretty limited compared to the photos that originally caught our attention. I'm guessing those were from the dinner menu.
