Came here with a group of 5 for a delayed Mother's Day brunch. Everything we ordered was delicious! I personally had the Berry Compote French Toast. I asked for the compote to be on the side and I'm glad I did! I'm not a huge fan of compote (it did tasted just as compote should), the French toast with the powdered sugar and the fresh berries were perfect on its own for me. FLORA @ NORTH PARK Parking can definitely be difficult here since everything is street parking, and most spots are either paid or have a two-hour limit. This breakfast spot is super popular in North Park, so I was really excited to finally try it out. I came for a friend's birthday with a party of over 20 people, and once everyone arrived, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a preset menu for the reservation that included pastries, fruit, French toast, and one entrée item that each guest could choose. The pastries were decent, though I do wish they had been a little fresher and warmer since they were slightly on the drier side. The fruit was honestly my favorite part of the starter courses, fresh strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries are always a good choice. I'm not sure if they forgot about the French toast, but our table never ended up receiving it. For my entrée, I chose the smoked salmon croissant with potatoes, and it was delicious. Everything tasted perfectly cooked, and overall I really enjoyed the dish. Unfortunately, there was a disgusting piece of hair on one of my potatoes, and it immediately made me lose my appetite. Flora is one of the popular restaurants in trendy North Park neighborhood of San Diego. Street Parking is a challenge. It had been a long while since my last visit here. Made early reservations for brunch. Sat outside the sun shade umbrella patio nest to darling Digitalis Genus aka Foxgloves small fuschia bell shaped flowers with freckles, which I found enchanting and diminished the sight of the busy street named University. The host/hostess and servers were nice and accommodating. The server Sofia was very nice and pleasant. The menu offered limited selections for brunch, I ordered the Smoked Salmon toast and a Matcha espresso martini. Both presented appealingly and served with a smile by the handsome male servers. Smoked salmon was fresh and had lots of dill herb, pickled red onion, capers on a sourdough slice was delectable. The matcha espresso martini had a clipped on fortune cookie like message which read: You will find happiness but first you'll need another coffee,' a funny note :) The restaurant was crowded with people waiting/standing out the sidewalk for a table. So as a considerate person, I had my brunch along with some pics with my pup Fendi of course, left quicker than expected, although I would have preferred to lounge a little, perhaps have another drink. Went again for brunch today and did not like the shakshuka. Unfortunately I felt it was pretty liquidy & the eggs felt a bit too much on the raw side from what I expected. Additionally it was way too salty. I feel the combo of olives, capers, and the dish probably already salted was too much. I wouldn't order this item again but everyone else's food seemed good! I met a few girlfriends here for Sunday brunch and thankfully we had reservations otherwise it would have been quite a wait. PARKING Not great. Very limited street parking or nearby paid parking that could be $10/hour. My friends parked near Vons and said it was a 10 min walk. FOOD A few of us got the Turkish eggs and it was DELICIOUS! My friend got the açaí bowl and another got the salmon omelette. DRINKS I tried their cloud matcha with almond milk & strawberry cold foam. It was pretty good CLEANLINESS/ SERVICE The place was decorated so cute that it feels like you're transported into Spain or Italy. It was a cute touch to have the servers all wearing overalls. I do wish they had more than 2 bathrooms since there always seemed to be a line but that's not likely within their control. Came here on a Saturday morning at 8:45AM with my wife and there were only a couple tables with people so we were seated right away. We were done at 9:30 and it was about half full and it was so loud. We ordered the Turkish eggs, egg sandwich, and the Brie french toast bites. Everything was good and the egg sandwich was huge, but the highlight was the French toast bites. It wasn't a full on meal like you'd be used to. It's good to split with others on the side. The matcha itself was just OK, but overall the drink was still very delicious and refreshing. The Turkish eggs were my first time trying this dish and I was honestly so surprised by how much I enjoyed it. It was very flavorful, filling, and just the right portion. It came with crispy bread, oil, chili, eggs, and yogurt, and everything worked really well together. My friends ordered different types of Benedicts and they all said theirs were OK. I think I may have enjoyed my dish a bit more. Service was friendly, and even when it got busy, our water was always refilled and we felt well taken care of. Their cocktail menu was really good, we got the peach jalapeño margarita and the passion fruit mojito, and both were honestly 5/5. In honor of women's month, we wanted to check out something in the area and came across this place. Thankfully we made reservations as this is a popular place on the weekends. We were seated right away which was nice. It is a bit small inside but the way they have the layout they are able to get quite a few folks in. Plus they have a small patio of seats as well. The staff were all super sweet and I loved the decor. I ordered a passion fruit mojito which was delicious. My chilaquiles weren't that great which was a bit of a bummer. I've had them many times at other places without dairy, and never had an issue with them lacking without it... but for some reason these ones seemed to be needing something... my friend really enjoyed her chicken n waffles, so maybe I just picked the wrong food choice. In fact, we were talking about the food and vibes for a whole hour after because we were so satisfied with our brunch. We came on Memorial Day Saturday and were sat outside. We ordered the Brunch Charcuterie and 3 different cocktails. Our bill came out to be about $118 but we definitely had leftovers. The menu says it feeds 2-4 people but I definitely think it feeds 4 because we were stuffed! It comes with 1 Belgian waffle, 4 pieces of French toast, a pile of Nutella mini Dutch pancakes, 6 macarons, 2 chocolate chip muffins a bowl of berries, large egg frittata, Parmesan home fries, 4 pieces of bacon, 2 large sausage links. We ordered a lychee spritz, espresso matcha martini, and a jalapeño peach margarita. The drinks were dangerous because it didn't taste like there was much alcohol in them but the flavors were great! I don't like matcha but the espresso matcha martini was surprisingly good! It has a strong earthy tea flavor so if you don't like tea, don't get it. We made a reservation the day before for 3 people (2 adults and a toddler needing a high chair), and it was super easy with great availability. When we arrived, parking was a little difficult, which is expected in North Park, but we found paid parking a street behind the restaurant. The host was friendly and personable, and we struck up a conversation with the hostess who was wearing a Formula 1 hoodie. (She and my son are Red Bull, Max Verstappen fans while I'm a Mercedes, George Russell fan). The immediate vibe inside was positive, and I loved seeing everyone's food and drink choices. It definitely swayed me in my decision! I ordered the passionfruit mojito which was one of the best I've ever had. Wow!! My son had a coconut water with matcha which looked interesting. I recently had Turkish eggs, but I wasn't in the mood to pay for parking at the Gaslamp. North Park was the cheaper option, and I'm really glad I decided to try Flora out first. Wow, what an amazing first experience. I believe they take reservations, and my wait time without reservations for one table was 20 minutes at around 1:00PM on a Sunday. The greeter is a transplant and going to college out here, and he set the experience right with letting me know how long my wait was and where I was at in line. Once seated, it took less than five minutes for someone to come out, bring water, and take my order. The dish was simply amazing. I'm a huge fan of Turkish eggs now with the yogurt and chili flakes. I have no idea what makes this dish authentic, but my taste buds have no doubt! This place is poppin by the way. From what I heard, there were customers walking up with reservations the whole time I was there, and party was as large as nine. I ordered the steak burrito, and it was massive. The meat was tender and flavorful, though with the salsa it was a bit too salty for my taste. The vibe in this place was cute and casual. The bathrooms were very clean (yes, even the men's bathroom!) The chair I sat on had the weave unraveling which wasn't the best first impression. I ordered a vanilla matcha and it wasn't a favorite of mine. I could taste the gritty powder so I forced myself to drink it. The star of the show was the smoked salmon croissant eggs benedict. I guess the original construction of this dish is a waffle with boneless chicken cutlet that comes with a type of salad on top of the cutlet...I'm assuming. Everything came out beautifully plated and tasted just as good as it looked, I did feel like my mozzarella slides were a bit big and felt like it took away from the flavor of the chicken but not a make it break it moment. I can't decide what inspired me to write this review more; The tasty food or the amazing customer service. My sister and I booked a reservation and were immediately sat inside by one of the staff members. The inside is definitely noisier than sitting on the patio but the vibes are great nonetheless. Our waiter walked us through the menu (both drinks and food) and consistently checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. The Nutella crepe is delicious and so is the espresso martini! Gianluca gets all the brownie points. He was so attentive during our first visit to Flora. From the constant "is everything ok, do you need anything else?" That's my kinda server. Flora opened up December 2024 about to hit its year mark and honestly can't believe I haven't been here sooner. Cant ever go wrong with parmesan and a Cesar salad, croutons are perfect. Chicken panino, perfect portion and the zucchini, make it so unique and extra juicy. By far my fav on the menu. My friend's potato was much bigger. I like the space decor. It's very cute and colorful. The noise level gets pretty loud. It wasn't a full house so I imagine it is worse on the weekend brunch rush. Service wasn't great unfortunately. I arrived and stood awkwardly by the door for about 10 minutes. I was waiting for someone but no one came over to greet me and give me a table. At one point he walked over and I thought okay he is going to finally acknowledge me, but he turned away and went to make a drink at the bar. If anyone asks me for brunch recommendation, hands down, Flora will be on the top of the current list. Normally, when I visit brunch places there are maybe one / two meals on the menu that I would consider ordering. In Flora I literally wanted to order all the dishes, no exceptions. It appeals to all diners from chicken waffles to traditional egg dishes with a great variety of crafted coffee drinks. The steak was very tender and the chimichurri sauce had great flavor. The hasselback potatoes were crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. I ate half at brunch and the other half cold for dinner (it tasted great as a leftover too). Ambiance was cutesy. Service could have been a little more attentive, but the server was pleasant enough. So glad we got the French toast bites, they were the perfect table sweet to share, and the main dishes were all so yummy too.
