Really enjoyed coco & hazel. The breakfast sandwich on the biscuit was filling and tasty. The breakfast sandwich on the bagel was decent but you can taste that it's a store bought bagel. (Ik it's not a bagel store but my bf if a big bagel guy so he's picky lol). The ice cream flight w/ the two cookies was only ~$9 which is a steal. The cookies tasted freshly made & the flavors were yummy. Didn't care for the banana pudding flavor as much but not bad. I would also say the ice cream flavors could use more variety. The new Coco and Hazel in Bon Air is right across the street from the Trader Joe's and Gelati Celesti shopping center the Wells Fargo. It's a different location... you may see what I mean when you pull up. There seems to be enough parking. My girlfriend and I checked it out late night after grabbing dinner from the city. I've been to the other location as well. This place seems larger than the other location. If you are looking for decadent desserts this is it. It's nice that we are getting more cute spots like this on the southside. It's a fairly large menu... so it took a moment for us to choose something. I decided to hold off on a crazy shake and got the Churro Ice Cream Sandwich with cookie dough ice cream. It was amazing!!! Apparently they make the churro sandwich fresh and I happened to snag the last one of the evening. My girlfriend got the MHB... topped with a piece of peanut butter pie, looked decadent. She was able to drink most of the shake and took the cake home for her kiddos. Also, they serve Tillamook ice cream. The place also serves coffee and breakfast. With all of the reviews and fancy pictures on Yelp, I was excited to give this place a try on my birthday. Upon arrival we were greeted by beautiful but dead plants. There was also a nice little outside eating area closer to the road. The interior aesthetic was very cute and minimal. This is a great place to capture a couple of photos. The menu options were great and also very creative. However, this is where the disappointment came in. After being on the inside for awhile the cute aesthetics started fading away when you notice the lack of cleanliness everywhere. Once we received our milkshakes even more disappointment settled in. The cakes on top of our milkshakes were old/stale and had absolutely no taste. The milkshakes were bland. And you could tell my cup was prepared and placed in the fridge or freezer. Unfortunately nothing was fresh or tasty. One of us was given a fancy sprinkle covered cup, while the other was given a "to go" cup. It also didn't help while capturing a couple of cute photos of the aesthetics and food options, we noticed the dessert box was full of gnats. Unfortunately this wasn't a great experience for us, and wasn't worth the amount of money spent. If you are interested in trying this place, go for it! We won't be back, but we do plan to try the other location. read more

SWEETNESS OVERLOAD!!!! These desserts are huge and delicious! I recommend always sharing, because there's no way you can finish one by yourself. I got the Mexican hot chocolate and it was the perfect mixture of spice and chocolate. I highly recommend trying it! They only have it as dine in but I took the rest to go when I couldn't finish it. Decided to treat myself before the new year, so I went to Coco and Hazel for the first time (after seeing and hearing about their massive milkshakes)! What a mistake to come here alone!! Their desserts are definitely worth sharing in terms of taste and portion! As a huge fan of Mexican hot chocolate, I got the Oaxacan milkshake. I really enjoyed the milkshake overall. Although I wish the flavors from the spices were stronger, it was a solid chocolate-based milkshake with good texture. The churro was pretty good - chewy and covered with sugar/cinnamon. The chocolate ice cream in between the two cookies was topped with whipped cream and cinnamon. The cookies were also quite tasty, full of chocolate flavors with some Mexican spices but was a little hard, given that it was sandwiching the cold ice cream. I really want to come back to try their other milkshake flavors and other dessert options. Their milkshakes and their desserts are all IG worthy! This location is relatively new with lots of parking spaces in front. It is pretty clean/spacious with a cute neon sign in the back and green plants throughout. This is fun! I think as a kid I would've really liked it. It has that "we can come here after your doctor's appointment vibe". It's a huge space, kind of reminds me of a cafeteria. When I arrived I mentioned I needed a minute to study the menu and asked how it works. The woman working didn't say much. The man working greeted the other customers with a HELLO! and went right into explaining how it works. I would've liked to have a formal introduction because it can be kind of confusing at first. I went with the brownie topping on a mint chocolate chip milkshake. It was really really good!!! To eat it you take the milkshake off the plate and put the brownies on it. I took the milkshake and the brownies home. I felt like a kid again. Also, I felt the urge to take my friend's kid and share the joy. Kids would LOVE. The menu was very large and covered an assortment of ice cream and desserts for the whole family. We ordered the cake shake and the coconutty and holy cow were they huge. The ice cream was fresh and yummy and the milkshake itself was creamy, thick, and super satisfying for a dessert craving. Came in Sunday afternoon with high expectations after seeing the reviews. Was politely greeted by staff and at first enjoyed the environment. The variety was subpar with pretty much the same milkshake specialities just with different toppings. Nothing that interesting compared to other speciality milkshake vendors in the Richmond area. Sitting at the corner of the creamery waiting for our milkshakes, we noticed the lack of maintenance. The more we started looking the more we realized the place was not clean what so ever. Either way, our milkshakes finally come to our table and oh my goodness were they a disappointment. At first glance they looked appetizing, just like in all the photos, however, this was such a let down for us. The ice cream wasn't as creamy, it tasted almost watered down. Definitely not the best milkshake I had. The cookie was salty and left an awful taste in my mouth like chicken bouillon. The texture of the cookie was similar to it being stale. The churro wasn't even a churro, it was a pretzel. Once it was all said and done and the damage was already done, somehow they made it worse when I realized that there was a nasty stain around the mug. I definitely won't be coming back, the tasteless dessert and the unclean environment is really what led me to this decision. Moral of the story is you can have a pretty photo of the dessert but it doesn't change the fact you're getting a mediocre bland watered down milkshake with your sweet cookie that was sitting out for the last week. read more

First timer here, I was so eager to finally try out this place as I've heard and seen so much about it's amazing confections. I knew I could never conquer a shake on my own, so I opted for a loaded smore's hot chocolate and took a coconut cream pie to go. While the hot chocolate looked amazing with it's marshmallows,whipped cream, chocolate covered marshmallows and chocolate covered graham cracker, that was the most impressive feature about it. The actual taste was nothing to write home about. It didn't taste like swiss miss mix but it tasted like whatever chocolate used to make it wasn't great quality or there wasn't enough of it, one or the other. The coconut cream pie was pretty good! Always fun to get a dessert in a cup. Again, I wasn't super impressed with any component of it. The coconut flavor wasn't singing through as much as I hoped to taste, and the crust crumbles weren't very flavorful so they just mushed and blended into the rest of the cup. We stopped by to try their new coffee flights and were not overly impressed. They were pretty bland and almost all tasted the same (cold brew with a little milk/cream). We also ordered a smoothie that came to us full of ice chunks so big you could see them all around the cup. It too was very bland. Coco and Hazel found a new home in Bon Air and I am hoping it is here to stay. Our family came here to get a special treat for our son who just turned 2 years old. The space is very open with plenty of seating with some seating outside as well. I ordered the churro ice cream sandwich. They were out of banana splits so my husband ordered a couple of scoops with some toppings. Everything was delicious! We saw plenty of other patrons ordering the speciality milkshakes and each one looked so yummy. We're hoping to try one next time when we have emptier stomachs. read more

I went here on yesterday and ordered a milkshake, three sugar cookies , a churro ice cream sandwich and a lemonade. The total price was almost $30 which is INSANE. The milkshake was OK, but definitely not of the same same quality as Brewster's or Cookout. The cookies were dry and stale which makes me question if they had been made a few days prior. Came here with high hopes after following Coco + Hazel on Instagram for a while. While the shakes were great, the service leaves a LOT to be desired. Upon our arrival, the girl behind the counter very frustratedly said "I'm going to need a few minutes", which was fine with us because we needed time to review the menu. When we approached the counter to order, she sighed loudly she asked if we were ready now (sorry- did we cause a problem waiting to place our order when literally 2 minutes prior she let us know SHE wasn't ready for us???). We politely placed our order and left a gracious tip, despite her mumbling questions at us throughout our order and getting visibly annoyed each time I said "I'm sorry, can you repeat that?". As we walked to our table, we then hear the entire staff start to complain loudly about a party of 14 coming in later in the evening. Keep in mind this location is very large and we were the ONLY customers, so the complaining was very audible and bounced off the walls. Orders arrive and look great, except that a few minutes in my husband realizes he is missing part of his order. He goes up to the counter to ask if it will be out soon, and the cashier looks up from her phone, says "what are you talking about?" And after he reminds her of his order, she puts her phone down, rolls her eyes and proceeds to get the item out of the case. If you are looking to get a dessert with your family where you will spend a good amount of money and be treated poorly, this is probably the spot for you. Not sure I'll be racing to come back any time soon purely based on the poor customer service. read more
