An Unforgettable 60th Birthday Celebration! We recently celebrated a very special 60th birthday at Coco Palm Restaurant, and I cannot say enough about how wonderful the entire experience was. From the planning stages through the end of the evening, the team went above and beyond to help make this milestone celebration truly memorable. A very special shout-out to Eliza Rodriguez for all of her assistance, patience, and attention to detail throughout the planning process. We came for a work event at 4pm and had the patio to ourselves. That was nice but we didn't have enough tables or chairs so we had more chairs brought out. The patio has a plastic sheeting covering the whole area which made it like a sauna. We couldn't feel any breeze and with about 25 adult bodies, it got hot! Very limited service. We had to go to the bar to get our drinks including our water. When I ordered drinks at the bar, I asked for a Jack and Coke. I got a well whiskey instead of Jack Daniels without even being asked if that would be ok. Which wasn't the greatest. We had shared appetizers which was tasty. But I wasn't much in the mood for eating, since it was too hot. If I were to come back, I definitely wouldn't sit on the patio! Yes, you go past two gates in order to find the parking lot for the restaurant! Ample parking. There is valet parking available on busy days! I was mainly here for their drinks the night I went and don't recall what I've eaten at the graduation party. Their plantain chips were decent along with their dip. Solid 3.5 but good enough to round up to 4. I've been here for both brunch buffet and dinner. Brunch is just ok but $50 per person isn't terrible for what it is. Besides, you can't beat the view. I do prefer dinner here. The plantain chips here are the best around. Ceviche is good, calamari wasn't crunchy, but the green sauce is good. For mains the oxtail (rabo encendido) is good and super tender. Chimichurri steak (churrasco) is good but mine was a little overcooked. Slow roasted pork (lechon asado) was flavorful but a little tough and chewy. Palella was good but nothing wow. For dessert we got the cheesecake and flan both were mid. Service was just ok, didn't come around very often and when we ordered a bottle of wine didn't offer is a tasting pour. The wine was also very hot. Finally revisited Coco Palm after 10 years. In fact, I completely forgot it existed as if I'd never been. Anyway, it was good to be back because my friend and I were in mood for brunch, but didn't want to wait until Sunday to go to our usual spot. Well, I think this is going to be our new usual spot moving forward now. There's a great selection of items to choose from, but my favorite that I kept loading up on every time I got up were the oxtails. I LOVE oxtail and it was so delicious here. Very tender and flavorful. The prime rib here is cooked perfectly to my preference. The outer part of it was packed with flavor and salt which I love. Yes, it's a bit salty but the rest of the meat is pretty neutral in flavor, so it's a nice balance in my opinion. Huge fan of the chicken noodle soup too. It's simple and reminds me of homestyle cooking. Very comforting! I could use a bowl right about now. I especially liked that the crab legs were already cut in half. I hate working for my seafood. The shrimp was also the ez peel type, so you can just peel the shell right off instead of having to dig into each one. Service was great. I forgot bro's name, but he was friendly and pleasant to talk to. The views were amazing (obviously). I enjoyed watching the traffic flow on the 10. Only downside is that it's valet ONLY and at the time of this review, it was $8. Anyway, at $47 per person this was absolutely worth it. Great selection, delicious food, nice views. You will be better off inside than outside to enjoy this view away from the busy freeway noise and if you're not tall enough, good luck enjoying a view looking above the patio rail. We celebrated a birthday on 7/4. Hostess gave us a nice seat to take in the view. Staff was friendly and attentive. Everything was delicious. Appetizers: Chicken/beef empanadas and fried calamari, both great. Salad was a generous size, fresh, cold and crisp served with both ranch and blue cheese dressing Tasty. We have been to this restaurant many times to celebrate birthdays and other special occasions, which makes this experience even more disappointing. We were treated in a way that made us feel uncomfortable and disrespected, and unfortunately, the way the situation was handled by Albert Rodriguez left a very negative impression on us. We tried to follow up with management afterward and were told that Felipe was not able to answer the call. Disappointing Experience We had a very upsetting experience with Alfred Rodriguez, assistant manager. His behavior toward our group was disrespectful, and we felt harassed and humiliated in front of other restaurant patrons. The way we were treated made us feel targeted and discriminated against, particularly because we were a group of women. Several members of our group also made multiple attempts to contact Manager Felipe Castro to discuss what happened, but we never received a response. They got curious and got a reservation when they saw it as they were passing by on the freeway and thought it looked nice. Ambiance: 3/5 - Place looked nice outside with a koi pond by a nice entryway but looked underwhelming on the inside with a large empty hallway right next to a small host area, and basic waiting chairs. Dining tables were tightly packed as well. Food: 3/5 - Food looked good but tasted bland and underseasoned, might just be the lechon asado I ordered or could've just been my palatte but that's my take on it. Service: 4/5 - Service was okay, wasn't the worst but also wasn't the best. Although there were barely any customers in the restaurant at that time, we had to wait around 5 minutes after seating before we were given water on the table and asked for anything to drink. I went to Coco palms on May 3rd 2026, with our family. So the restaurant moved to a Cash less system and the payments are made thru a QR Code. I made a payment of 4 people(we were a group of 10) and some of the bill from the table next to us came on our table bill. I paid thru the QR code and the waiter said that he would void the payment so he can fix the bill. I paid 1 more time without the QR system and I was charged twice. It has been over 2 weeks and I still have not gotten my refund from the first payment over $250.00 !!! I physically went back to the restaurant, I call every week and as of today still no refund! They promise I would get my money back but NOTHING! How hard is it to refund a client that paid twice! Be careful going, very unethical and unprofessional! read more

Customer service is top notch!! Just an fyi- You do need to dress appropriately at this restaurant. The food & drinks were good, but not great, with the exception of the clams! My 1st complaint I have is: the clams made me sick, I bit into one & it tasted awful, on the way home my mouth was hurting on the side I bit into the clam, I went to sleep when I got home but the next day my whole cheek was swollen & throbbing. I researched about these symptoms & found out some clams & shellfish can make you sick with numbness & pain. It's called Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning, not sure if this happens often but def won't ever order clams again! My 2nd issue or complaint was, we were seated on the patio & there was a wedding happening at the same time we were seated & the wedding party was going up & down the side stairs & some of the wedding party almost fell down the stairs at some point & the mic announcements were so loud we couldn't hear much of our own convos. We came here as a large party to celebrate a birthday. Our table was ready when we arrived for our reservation time. The brunch buffet had plenty of options, and they absolutely did not skimp on protein options, which is a plus! There was a wide variety from fish to shrimp to crab legs to ox tail. They even had a large pan of paella! Desserts were tasty with rice pudding, cheesecake, chocolate cake, plantains, and fresh fruit. Mimosas were bottomless. This is a decent value for $50 a head! I knocked off one star however, for the valet service. Valet is mandatory ($8 per car on Saturday), and they expect cash for valet. My friend gave the valet $10 and the man working immediately took the $10 and didn't even attempt to give change. Tip should never be implied. I also tried to pay with card, in which he seemed very displeased about, as he pulled his phone out. He also was going to charge $8.50 for card, and expected for me to tip on the card too. After he tried to tap my card several times and got frustrated, I decided to pay cash. He counted my change and stood there expecting a tip. This is such poor customer service. Came here Tuesday afternoon with my girlfriend. The place was not packed, dam near empty. The ambiance is nice, had an overview of the city and highway. Our server was very attentive and came often to check on us and fill our waters. But the biggest problem of this place, is the chef and his dishes. I had ordered the explorador appetizer that comes with a variety, of calamari, fried octopus, empanadas and plantain chips. But the fried foods were super soggy, not hot, and lacked seasoning. Then came my entree (35 minutes after I received my appetizer), the paella valenciana, this dish consisted of saffron rice, with mussels, clam, squid, shrimp, scallops, chicken, pork, chorizo, and maduros. The presentation was not the best. But I found the courage to try it. First off there was barely any rice. Secondly when I ate the clam and mussels, I got a mouthful of sand that was cracking left to right while chewing. Thirdly the shrimp was pathetic since some of them had shells and some were peeled, not to mention the shrimp was like bitting a piece of gum. Fourth, the maduros was just depressing, dry, and rubbery. It's a shame that even Porto's bakery does a better job for a cheaper price. Last of all the dish was lacking a tremendous amount of seasoning. After our meal, my girlfriend's stomach started to feel sick and she ended up throwing up. And I got a headache from it. First it's annoying that you pass by all the parking spots and they require you to valet your car. Hey guy working at the valet counter, the definition of a tip is a - voluntary or discretionary payment in recognition of GOOD SERVICE. Also The customer decides whether to give a tip and how much, meaning it's not a fixed or required fee The fact that this is the second time I saw you shake your head with disgust and disapproval (one at me and one to another person) for how much we tipped and you wanted to see the tip before you got us our cars is wild. I know for sure we aren't the only ones he's done that to. And honestly this basically ruined our experience at Coco Palms. This person needs some customer service training or something. Your tip jar was looking kinda empty. Should really look at the mirror and ask yourself "am I the problem?" It sucks, cause I know this persons attitude is ruining it for the rest of the valet team. Unfortunately, our recent experience with the reservation process left us extremely disappointed. Last week, after enjoying brunch with my family, we spoke with Adrian about reserving a private room for a family member's 75th birthday celebration. We explained how important it was for us to have an intimate space for this milestone occasion. Throughout our conversations, Adrian assured us he would do his best to secure the room. During our final phone call, he told us he had successfully reserved it and also mentioned that no deposit was necessary. Because of this reassurance, we stopped looking at other venues, continued planning the celebration, and even prepared decorations specifically for the private room. To our surprise, we were only informed upon arriving on the day of the party that no private room had actually been reserved. We were then told that a deposit would have been required to secure the room, which directly contradicted what we had been told the week before. If we were informed before the day of the event, we would have had time to make other arrangements or choose a different venue. Instead, we were left scrambling at the last minute, and many of our decorations went unused because we no longer had the space to set them up. Adding to the confusion, Adrian had told us he would be there during our celebration, but when we arrived we were informed that his shift had been changed to after our party had ended. We felt completely blindsided by the entire situation. Thankfully, the food was excellent as always, and the servers who assisted us were attentive, kind, and professional. We have absolutely no complaints about the kitchen or service staff. Our disappointment is solely with the reservation process and the lack of communication. A 75th birthday is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone, and we wanted to create a special, intimate celebration with family we hadn't seen in a long time. Instead, we began the day feeling stressed and disappointed because of something that could have been avoided with better communication. We hope management reviews how reservations are handled so that future guests don't experience the same situation. Been meaning to write this review for a while. One reason I held off was that I didn't want to leave a review at all. I wanted to speak with someone at the restaurant. I left messages twice, but never hit a return call. I've eaten here 3x - December birthday dinner for 2, March birthday brunch for 6, and a Sunday evening 65th birthday dinner (for an out-of-town visitor) for 6. Let me start by saying: THE FOOD IS EXCELLENT. Hot, beautiful, perfectly cooked. The view is fantastic and the inside of the restaurant is (a bit dated, but) beautifully decorated. However, everything else is not, hence the 3 star review. For starters: if valet is required, raise your prices so that the restaurant can pay the valet. Getting hit with an $8 fee at a cashless restaurant is stupid. Let me park my own car, or cover the valet free. I have had reservations all three times I've visited, and all three times it has gone exactly the same: I walk up to the desk and say, "Hi. My whole party is here for our reservation." And all three times they've said to me, "Please stand over here." and left us standing and waiting for AT LEAST 15 minutes. (Regardless of the number of hostesses at the stand, and there have always been 2.) Why? I have a reservation. My table should be ready, and the only 2 acceptable replies are some version of, "Welcome, follow me please." Or, "One moment, please. When the other hostess gets back she'll take you to your table." and there shouldn't be a wait. Seating was fine on the first 2 visits, and service was acceptable. The last visit (July 27) is what triggered this review. The restaurant was far from full on a Sunday night, and after standing around and waiting, we were led to a smallish (for the size of our party) round table, which was against the stairs that led into the room, and was wobbly. Moments after being seated we decided that we were too uncomfortable there considering the number of open tables, so we asked to be moved. We were asked if a table outside was acceptable, and we agreed. (Although it was a bit warm, and there were MANY open tables inside.) Instead of leaving us there until the new table was ready, they had us get up and wait some more before reseating us on the patio outside the bar. That's where things went really awry. I don't know if our server was new, but the timing on EVERYTHING was off. Too long between appetizers and entrees. All 6 entrees did not arrive together (first we got 4, and the last 2 arrived ten minutes later.) Never checked on us after entree arrival. Hubby had to seek assistance at least twice during the meal. Nobody's glass was kept full, and most of the party was just drinking water. I was drinking iced tea. When the waiter finally came to refill glasses, he just poured over the table instead of lifting the glass to the pitcher alongside the table so that the people in my party didn't get splashed - which they did. When the server got to me, he asked if I wanted a refill, and took the glass and walked away for another 5+ minutes before returning. He never finished filling the water glasses for the rest of the party, and did not ask Hubby if he wanted another beer. Made it to dessert (a $35 cake from Porto's) and when we were done, we asked for the box. Server said he would handle it. Not sure what he did, but see photos for what the cake looked like when I opened the box at home. (No, it did not slide in the car. See photos.) Lastly, my reservation was for 6:15, and we did not get our check (we had to hunt down the server to get it AND to pay it) until 8:26. For a restaurant that greets you with a sign that says you only have 90 minutes to eat, service should be able to be completed in that time. (It drew a comment from another member of our party.) PLEASE BE AWARE: an 18% gratuity is added for large parties, but when they bring you the check to sign, it still includes a line to add a tip. My husband and I had our intimate wedding at Coco Palm. It was absolutely beautiful! The food was amazing and fresh. The service before, during, and after our event was catered perfectly to our needs. Elizabeth worked closely with our family and us to ensure everything was ready. I am so grateful I chose Coco Palm for our wedding reception. They say weddings are stressful, but Coco Palm was the best part, hands down.
