This place was so great for an early mothers day dinner. I decided to make a reservation a couple days before and i secured a 5pm time. Be aware that parking is only valet, and costs $8. We were sat as soon as a the entire party got there. We ordered chicken empanadas (3 pieces) which came with a chimichurri type sauce which paired so well with it. The guacamole we ordered came with tortilla chips, plantain chips, a mango salsa, and a green salsa. Both appetizers were delicious and finished by everyone at the table. Every single dish ordered was devoured and the table was silent as we ate! I ordered the fricase de pollo that came with rice , potatoes , and black beans. The dish was so well done and would order again. The desserts were all so delicious, i especially loved the flan cubano.. it was perfectly sweet. We did order 4 lemon drops ($15/each made with Tito's) which were large and made well. The total for everything was around $300 included 4 shots and 2 beers. We did have a large array of dishes ordered for the table. The location and ambiance is nice plus the view is amazing with large floor to ceiling windows. Love coming here for special occasion. The dining room overlooking the 10 freeway with plenty of lights, great drink selection, amazing Cuban food varieties. This is one of the old vibe restaurant that reminds me of Miami Vice scene (lol, Millenials here, maybe there's another up to date reference). Alcoholic drinks are averaging about $15, and one entree about $30. Service is hit and miss, sometimes they are quick, with another time that the server rarely check if we needed anything. I usually avoided going on Fri, Sat/ Sun due to valet parking. I have this weird thing when people driving my car. So I always dine in during weekday, where I can park anywhere I want to, close by the entrance, free of charge, and no one touching my car. That's just me. read more

Absolutely love this place when I'm in Pomona. I have been here before for dinners but I never had their Sunday Brunch. Sunday Brunch at Coco Palm is filled with a ton of tasty food. Valet parking only ($8 cash) The inside was beautifully decorated. They had a Photo Booth inside that didn't work and wouldn't send photos. So that was a waste of time. Hallway inside serves as a waiting area for people with reservations. Even though reservations are made, customers are still expected To wait 30 minutes to be seated. The servers were really nice., even on busy days. The food was delicious. We ordered a four course meal. The appetizer was nothing crazy just an empanada that tasted as if it was microwaved. The lobster bisque was delicious. Main course was over cooked. Dessert cake was still frozen from the freezer. Only thing that was throwing me off was the parking because the restaurant next door Pomona Valley Mining had parking where you can park yourself but when I got to Coco Palm I was greeted with valet parking so I had to pay extra. Just days away from my birthday, my wife received a voicemail from Coco Palm asking that she call them back. When she did, she was placed on hold for over six minutes! When someone finally got on the phone, she was informed that Coco Palm needed to cancel our reservation because someone had rented the entire dining room. Really poor form, Coco Palm! This place is amazing for the view and great food. On the weekend they charge valet for parking and if not you have to park in a farther lot. Their serving sizes are pretty big so I would recommend sharing! The seafood paella was delicious with pieces of salmon and lobster. We made reservations as we celebrated my mother-in-law's birthday this Saturday and had an amazing dining experience. Because we were a large party of 19, we were given a limited menu. We chose the 'Silver Prix-Fize Menu' @ $42/person, which is a 3 course meal service. I had their 'Ropa Vieja', which is shredded beef flank simmered in bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes served with rice & beans, accompanied by a 'Strawberry Mojito'. For dessert, I had their 'Flan Cubano'. Everything tasted very good with fresh ingredients. Service was amazing. Every single staff member we encountered was friendly, starting with the hostess. Came here for the Saturday Brunch Buffet, and the selection was great -- there was a good choice of prime rib, crab legs, a variety of fried rices, pulled pork, oxtail, fried white fish, and much more. The receptionist was very friendly and nice and we were seated quickly, and there was even live music which was beautiful. The one thing that really soured the experience was when we asked one of the waiters if sodas were included, and he said it was and asked if we wanted any -- and so we ordered sodas. When the bill came, they had charged us $6 per fountain drink. We asked about it but they just denied it saying the only drink included was the mimosa and disappeared from sight until we finally flagged someone down to pay with that extra amount. We got no explanation, no apology, they just gaslit us into thinking all six of us misheard. Had they been honest upfront when we asked if the sodas were an additional charge, we wouldn't have had any issue but this lack of accountability was extremely upsetting. I went for their weekend buffet brunch. The food was great overall, to be fair. However, the staff member carving the prime rib seemed overly cautious with portions--he was slicing it extremely thin, almost like deli ham. I ended up with mostly fat and only about a 1/16-inch slice, and had to ask for another piece just to get a decent portion. So we went during the afternoon at 2 PM. Absolutely nobody was there. I ordered the first chicken entrée on the menu. It was recommended by the server. Based on the food alone, I will never go back., it was flavorless, and it looked like it was being eaten by Someone Else. The presentation was bad. The chicken was dry, and the flavor of the rice was not good.. Also the way the server described the dish was not what I received. Plus, it took a long time for us to get our entrées. We did order an appetizer.. the appetizer we ordered was guacamole and chips with plantains chips. The guacamole had avocado in it that was not ripe. The salmon, my colleague had looked and tasted delicious. But my chicken dish was a big miss. The views are spectacular however there were a lot of flies in the main dining room. We ordered the cheesecake and it was bland, the whipped cream on top tasted like it was Cool Whip. Entrees: All dinner entrees are served with maduros Paella Marinara - saffron rice simmered with lobster, fresh fish, scallops, squid, clams, mussels, crab, shrimp. $45 - if you like seafood, you'd like this. Paella Valenciana - saffron rice simmered with chicken, pork, chorizo, fresh fish, scallops, squid, clams, mussels, crab, shrimp. $36 - I didn't get to taste this but was told it was good. The difference between the two paellas are this one has meat and lacking the lobster. Paririllada de Mariscos - grilled petit lobster tail, fresh fish, scallops, squid clams, mussels, crab, shrimp, arroz amarillo. $48 - Another did I didn't get to taste, but it looked so good! Rabo Encendido - beef oxtail braised in a red wine reduction, arroz con frijoles. $34 - had a taste of the oxtail and it was so tender and full of flavor! Another great dish! The prime rib and paella are served by someone. We made a reservation online in advance for 10:30am and I'm glad we went earlier because by 11am, the lines for the food became quite long. Indoor and outdoor dining available. It's good for kids. They do serve alcohol. I used to really like this place, but found a few issues during this visit. The problems we experienced were as follows: 1 - We were charged for the orange juice even though the menu notes that you can get a complimentary mimosa, champagne, or sparkling cider. We brought it up to our waiter but he didn't remove it from our bill. 2 - the valet situation is atrocious. Someone cut in front of me and the valet working did nothing even though she saw that I was there first. She was also short with everyone. Furthermore, we were required to pay $8 for valet but some people just passed by the valet and self-parked with no negative repercussions. 3 - I got food poisoning after eating here. This restaurant has always been a family favorite but we came here for Mothers Day this year. First, we scheduled our reservation through Open Table about a month early and then I was called and informed that the restaurant would be closed during the time of my reservation. My reservation was moved up and my party of 8 was able to accommodate. When we arrived today for brunch, the hostesses were clearly overwhelmed and they did not really prepare us for a delayed seating. There was no reassurance given, requesting our patience, or giving us an ETA of when we would be seated. I asked if the brunch would be extended after the deadline of 3 pm and was reassured that it would be. However the food staff were prompting is to leave at 3 PM. My family is flexible so we had a good time but we will find another place for Mothers Day. read more

I was here a few years ago for a wedding and once here over 20 years ago for another occasion [i can't recall the occasion]. Always remember it being a very nice place. Yesterday I was there for a birthday party and again, we had a very good time. Everything was well done including the service. The prices are steep but the quality and atmosphere is very nice. Plenty of clean bathrooms for all the people there and we were in a rented small hall on the south side of the property. Well small is relative, our group had about 50 - 60 people. The buffet line is impressive and delicious. CRAB LEGS, Pallela, salmon, fried fish [PESCADO FRITO was incredibly delicious], Ropa Vieja, CEVICHE, LECHON and a carving station with beef and ham. That was on one side. Items in all caps are must haves! The other side had fried platanos [plantains] , arroz con frijoles [yes it may just be rice and beans to you but all Central American and the Caribbean countries have some version of black beans and rice. My Costa Rican heritage call it Gallo Pinto and it's an important and delicious staple for breakfast. But they also had ox tails, chicken prepared in so many different and delicious ways. I was looking at the Pallela first but was so disappointed that I ran out of room before I could get it onto my plate. Unfortunately, I could not go back because I was so full but now I have an excuse to go back :) The bar prices seemed steep to me. While the waitress was super sweet, she was overwhelmed with the volume of people. I think they need to give her some support. It's graduation season, a baptism party and our 60 person birthday party plus many patrons that just come in for lunch and they had one bartender. At one point, she even excused herself and went to help a table in the patio then came back in to make our drinks. At $15 a drink, you would think they would want to pour as many drinks as they could. Prior to leaving, we talked about having one more drink and one in our group said, "I don't want to wait in that line" and we all decided not to go back. When we arrived without a reservation, the host attended to us quickly and was very friendly. Our table was ready, and everything started off well. However, we had a disappointing experience when our food was mistakenly served to the table next to us. About 2-3 minutes later, the waiter realized the mistake, took the plate back from the other customer, and tried to serve it to us, even though the person had already added pepper and squeezed lemon on it. From a hygiene standpoint, this was completely unacceptable. We immediately told the waiter we wanted a fresh plate, as it was not right to serve us food that had already been handled by another customer. Even the person at the other table apologized and mentioned it was their first time at the restaurant. They confirmed they had seasoned the dish and also found it inappropriate for the waiter to try to give it to us. The staff should be better trained or at least use common sense in such situations. We mentioned this issue to our waitress but did not ask to speak with the manager. However, this experience made us decide that we probably wouldn't return. Additionally, my piña colada had more whipped cream than actual drink, which wasn't enjoyable. On the positive side, the food tasted good, but the bathrooms were a bit dirty, with paper towels scattered on the floor. read more

I've driven past this place for years, and I didn't try it out until recently with my husband. We wanted a hassle free romantic meal out just the two of us without having to brave any ridiculous California traffic. Coco Palm is it! We will come back. Per server you don't need valet M-Th Service - service is friendly and gets the job done, Pomona style Food - Delicious Cuban cuisine. We ordered calamari, churrasco, fricase de pollo, and bread pudding. The calamari was lightly breaded (huge plus), well seasoned and came with two sauces. The churrasco was delicious. We got medium steak and it was served on a bed of fluffy yucca mash. My husband said when we come back he's getting this again. The fricase de pollo was good comfort food. It was juicy braised chicken and potato with saffron white wine sauce over rice. I was feeling slightly under the weather and the fricase de pollo hit the spot. Lastly the bread pudding was delicious too. It came with a pleasant surprise of sweet coconut topping. The bread pudding itself had a nice creamy texture and spiced taste. Price - for the quality of food, ambiance, and view we felt it was very worth it We will definitely come back. I noticed many tables getting paella. I had to let it cool off, when I started eating it, it was delicious! The rice and the chicken and the spices were savory. I wish I had more of it, so delicious! The service was great, they took very good care off all 14 of us! The employees brought me a cake and sang "Happy Birthday" to me! They really made my already enjoyable night with my friends. They pride themselves with their steak but didn't even ask us how we want our steak and left us with no option with our dish. Our steak was served at room temperature and super hard! We checked Table after table steaks were terrible and there was a lot of steak that just went to waste. We talked to our waiter when we complained about it but he didn't take any action and said all the steaks are cooked the same. We talked to another waiter but same thing. The management doesn't know what they are doing. I could see the staff running around working hard. So it has to be the management. Under staffed, bad training, I don't know. I even went up to the host a couple of time, asking is the table ready. She kept saying a few minutes. their getting the table ready. I understand the restaurant was crowded that night. Thats what the reservation is for to be seated in appropriate time. It is total unacceptable. We could have order and finish eating at the bar b4 they even seated us. This is extremely poor host services. She did not know what she was doing. The food and price was reasonable. The wine list was limited, the waiter and the manager didn't know their wine too well. They serve a Napa wine label from Washington State. I didn't know Napa was in Washington St ... :) I would not go back or recommended this establishment to anyone I like.
