First round. Mimosa ready
Grace C.

First time visiting and love their Sunday brunch buffet!! $49 for adult and $24 for children. You get carved prime rib, salad bar, soup, crab legs, cocktail shrimp, beef rib, cookies, variety of slices of cake (lemon, chocolate, strawberry cheesecake) and pudding / jello cups. There is also a separate area for Mexican dishes which I liked. Chilaquiles and can't forget unlimited refills of champagne and juice to make your mimosa. Their beef rib and prime rib is the perfect combo! Very satisfying! Would come back again!!

Sitting on the hill above Pomona is this rustic place that has an incredible salad bar, & soup station as well. The view is fantastic. I remember this place from wedding receptions and Christmas parties. So mid week sounded like a good deal. Hostess was friendly and accommodating. The server was very nice as well. Service was prompt and our drinks were good. My friend ordered a New York steak and I ordered the Baby back Ribs The meat from the ribs literally fell off the bone. I did not order any sides as the salad bar and soup were included.. The ribs were plenty and the steak would make just about any carnivore happy. The parking lot is spacious and it is very rustic. Once inside there are stairs. So if you have difficulty with stairs beware and go slow. Otherwise a great place for steaks and ribs!

First time going to Pomona Valley Mining Co., and this review is based on my experience of the UCSC presentation workshop there. We went there with our daughter, and the venue was great. We had complimentary valet parking that day because UCSC paid for it. The ambiance is nice, and the view is beautiful. We first went downstairs to check out the university information, and then we had a self-serve buffet lunch upstairs. The banquet room is spacious. It had a lot of food on that day. Most of the food tasted great, except the beef was chewy. The event was well-organized, and they were very generous. The service was attentive that day. They took away my empty plate after I finished my lunch, and also refilled the iced tea and iced water. I would visit Pomona Valley Mining Co. for their dinner.

I've always been curious about this place on the hilltop whenever I pass it driving on the 10 fwy, and finally made it here for a celebration. While I'm glad I checked it off the list, the food was nothing to rave about. To be fair, the staff was great. The hostess and our server were super friendly and helpful. However, the food just wasn't anything special. I had the prime rib, filet mignon, and a baked potato. That said, it didn't ruin the night. I kind of went in with the mindset that you're paying for the vibe anyway. The old mining decor is unique and the view of the valley is nice. I think it's a good idea to come for a drink and the scenery, but maybe keep average expectations for the meal.

Came here for the Mother's Day brunch and it was definitely worth it. A lot of food options and a lot of desserts. Minus one star because I feel like the hostess was a bit unprofessional. It's mother's day and I'm there with my mom and he says "you here for anything special?" And "yeah it's just a like of walking in here it kind of sucks" He was a young kid. But it's still unprofessional to mention something that "sucks" plus come on It's Mother's Day. Why do you think two women are there lol

I came here once a longg time ago with some family, I still think about the free unlimited cheese bread they gave us THE best EVER. I don't remember the service, I would if it was above and beyond but I don't so it's probably the average nice service. The ambiance is BEAUTIFUL the view was amazing, I still remember my first time walking in, .

My first time ever coming to Pomona Valley Mining Co which is literally located right off the freeway. I have seen their huge sign many times but just never got around to coming here. I went here early for a Sunday Brunch which is an all-you-can-eat buffet style. There are many separate sections around the entire place. It is rustic and looks like a dark wooden mine. There is a dessert section, hot meats, and a salad area. Overall I did find that the food was pretty good. With many different items that you can get. You can also get a freshly made omelet from the chefs or carved out meats as well. Oh yeah also make a reservation because this place is quite busy on Sunday! Enjoy :)

After living nearby for almost 20 years and driving past this place countless times, we finally decided to try it for a date night--and I'm honestly wondering why we waited so long. The restaurant is set in an old mine on top of a hill, which already makes it feel unique, but the view takes it to another level. The ambiance is dim, romantic, and has this charming, slightly rustic vibe that reminded me of Ghost Town at Knott's Berry Farm (in the best way). We started with a couple of their signature cocktails--the Banana Hammock was good, but the Pickin' Mule was even better. Definitely recommend trying both. For appetizers, we had the calamari steak, which was really good. Entrées come with access to the salad bar, and I have to say--the clam chowder was delicious. For my main dish, I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon cooked medium, and it came out absolutely perfect. The sides (mushrooms and baked potato) were solid, though nothing particularly standout. Service was excellent from start to finish, which really made the whole experience even better. Overall, we found ourselves a new date night spot and will definitely be back.

Not my favorite buffet, but not the worst one I've been to either. The perennial offering of prime rib was very good as was the omlette station taking a request to make my Up Easy eggs sunny and runny with the best of restaurants. But the biscuits and gravy, miner potatoes, and ham was very poor. The waffles and simple chafing dish scrambled eggs, but that's very routine stuff for a buffet. The service was great though. The free mimosas and juices were provided quickly, and the dirty plates were getting cleared as fast as they piled up. They even took special requests like Bloody Mary's like champs. Lastly, I thought the ambience was fair. I found the hallways too tight and inconvenient. I also thought the layout of the buffet stations confusing and ill-planned. They should've all been grouped together more tightly, or even have a dedicated dining room set aside from them instead of so spaced out. I almost didn't know there were three locations--like a scavenger hunt--to the buffet. I also found the mining theme kitschy and inauthentic as they very easily could've had the actual decor from mining outfits shipped in. In summation, this was a good approximation of a nice buffet but there were many areas it could have been approved. I probably won't be back.

We had a Sunday brunch reservation and arrived at the restaurant 10 minutes prior to 10 am. The view is pretty, it was a sunny, clear morning. Service was good. Personally the food was just okay. Not much options, most dishes tasted similarly. The place could be a little cleaner. I noticed a piece of dried meat on my chair. We were looking forward to eating the crab legs but got super disappointed as it was cold and the body was iced cold, that made the meat all salty. Scrambled eggs station was okay.

Horrible Service .. this is what should not happen when you go out to dinner with your husband and your son. Disappointing

Still no contact. I actually called and talked to an Assistant Mgr. And said will call you back... CRICKETS.. I guess we don't matter. Party of three for $320.00 ... Disappointed I guess this is how restaurants do business now patrons don't mean anything anymore as long as they get your money. We will not be back ever and we will not recommend this restaurant to anybody. Customer service is literally going downhill.

Just be sure not to arrive too hungry because we don't want yall to be hangry! If you're looking to avoid the wait, I'd recommend visiting on a weekday, especially around 2 pm or 3 pm. The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient. The atmosphere had a welcoming vibe that reminded me of being in Thailand, which added to the overall experience. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, making it a great spot to enjoy a meal. As for the food, their fish and chips are hands down the best I've had. The portions were generous, everything tasted fresh, and every bite was worth it. While the prices are on the higher side, the quality, service, and overall experience make it well worth the splurge. I'll definitely be coming back with my gf!

3.5 Stars First…read morevisit and had an okay experience. We went to celebrate my mom's birthday. The service was efficient, but not overly friendly. The food was a mixed bag. Some items were delicious; others were lacking in flavor or had an "unusual" taste. The dining area is a decent size, it was clean, and there is plenty of parking in the shopping center's lot. FOOD: We ordered a varied selection from the menu. Some items, Breaded Shrimp ($7.95), Smoky Seared Ahi Tuna ($20,95), and Ocean House Halibut ($33.95) were very tasty, but the Ahi Tuna Grilled, served rare ($18.95), Clam Chowder ($9.95), and Seafood Bisque ($10.95) were only okay. I mentioned an unusual taste, not bad, but the flavors of the chowder and the bisque were different than I've had at other seafood restaurants. I tried their Thai Iced Tea ($5.25) which was good. Overall, we felt that this dinner experience could have been better, but I would be willing to pay them a second visit and try some different menu items.

However, our waiter immediately discouraged me from ordering the Tacos Gobernadorbecaise they don't sell alacart, which was disappointing. The taquitos plate was heavily smothered with no beanswith no flaver, which overpowered the different protein flavors and made the dish taste somewhat bland. A side of guacamole or crema would have helped balance the flavors and improve the overall presentation. My daughter ordered the enchilada plate, and to our surprise, it didn't come with beans and rice. This was the first time we've ever been served enchiladas without those traditional sides. The price difference to add them was less than $1, so it was difficult to understand why they weren't included. Oh, and one of the TVs showing the soccer game was about 15 minutes behind the others. LOL. Window blinds were off balance and paper material making the place feel cheap. It's a shame because the issues I mentioned seem relatively easy to fix. Addressing them would go a long way toward improving the overall dining experience. I do admit that the other dishes we tried had very good flavor and I may come and try again in a few months...
