I went here with coworkers and I can't recommend it. I've been here in the past for happy hour, and a special event some time ago. This time was for lunch. Service was absolutely horrible. It took over half an hour to get any water and place an order, and almost another half an hour to get our food. There were only 6 of us but they missed so many elements in the order like drinks and appetizers. Drinks couldn't even be filled. It was an unexpected train wreck. The table was so wobbly and should have been trashed. It caused so many spills and the server couldn't have cared less. They are known for their views but overall this place seems like it hasn't been renovated for several decades. Investments should be made on the furniture at the very least. The food was good but nothing special compared to other cuban restaurants... I would say their food is what you get from catering events... generic and blander than an authentic restaurant. Prices are pretty ridiculous for the outcome. Their lunch specials are $20-32+. We had an awesome server, Brandy (hopefully thats spelled right) took good care of us but the food didn't live up to expectations. It tasted really bland and I didn't finish my plate. I got the vegetarian plate and two others got the Paella Marinera and another got steak and she finished it. 3 out of 5 of us didn't finish our food and one of us hardly touched her plate. Hubby took our daughter and I out for Valentine's Day. We had a 5pm reservation, I think we were seated about 5:30. The music was great. Our waiter was extremely pleasant as well as the busser. The food was excellent (since I didn't have to cook, I loved every minute) my daughter revived a long stem rose , she was so happy. We went there last week Dec 1st to celebrate our son's 15th birthday. The outside looked festive, complete contrast with the inside. From What I could tell, there was about 6 parties including us in 2-3 separate rooms. Bare walls, cold Hospital lights throughout, the best decor are the giant windows to look outside, but of course they sat us away from those. The food was OK, the best thing was the paella. Our family of 6 ordered different things, my sons steak was somewhat dry. The waitress was courteous, but seemed uninterested, distracted. We got appetizers, portions were OK. The hubby and I ordered drinks, my Pina colada was good but not memorable. WHY would the waitress bring my 6 year olds dinner along with the appetizers is beyond me. We also ordered dessert, 4 different kinds. We asked waitress what she recommended and she failed to tell us the bread pudding comes with coconut shavings on top, had to scrape that off. Would I go back here??? Probably not unfortunately THEE ONLY DELICIOUS thing we ate here was the bread with the beans they give you at the begging, we requested more and she never brought seconds. That time last Tuesday when I surprised hubby with dinner at the Coco Palm Restaurant. This Cuban inspired restaurant dishes an amazing view with equally delicious cuisine. We started with the Ceviche Original and it was so delicious (white fish chopped large vs. minced) that we have been ordering the family size as takeout ever since. My favorite entree was the Braised Oxtails with mashed Cassava. We also had Ropa Vieja (Shredded Beef) w/ Veggies & Plantains (so sweet), Chilean Seabass (didn't care too much for that but we didn't order it), and the South Beach Salmon Salad. I ordered a Margarita but had to add a shot to it, so I know better next time. Although they were extremely busy, our server Roger was attentive and even comped us a drink on a mistake he made with our order. I was looking forward to a nice dinner and they served plastic - rubber chicken it was so hard I had fight it to cut it. And it was not leg or thigh it was breast that sells for free since no one wanted it and has zero taste. The salad and bread was just as bad. This is one of those places where you have yo say "run forest run" as far from this restaurant. The banana plantain was not so bad actually. My husband and I came here for our anniversary. We shared an appetizer, the crudo de ahi tuna. Omg delicious! I had the sea bass and let me tell you....it was like taking a bite into butter but with such flavor. My husband had the parrillada mariscos. He loved it probably just as much as he loved my plate. Issue was it lacked flavor and we had to ask 2-3 times for extra sauce. They give you a lot of calamari not enough sauce. Had we got the extra sauce we requested earlier then it wouldn't have gotten cold. IJS The dessert left a lot to be desired it was the cheesecake with Guava on top. The guava sauce was great. The cheesecake had a very dark chocolatey crust. Which wasn't for me. The filling was dense and a great texture it no sweetness at all. I wouldn't order it again. We also had salads the salad with the avocado/tomato situation was great could use a bit more lettuce but with like a whole avocado on the plate let me tell you it was soooo satisfying. The house salad gave lots of lettuce but very skimpy on the toppings and my friend was truly disappointed. On the other hand all the ingredients were fresh and tasty. No brown lettuce here. Although the experience had its ups and downs I won't be having my wedding dinner here. The staff left a lot to be desired. They talk a lot amongst each other and we're slow getting us what we needed. We had to ask multiple times for condiments, water, etc. our waiter Jose R. brought us our check without asking if we wanted dessert. Then brought the final check before we were done. When we asked for things multiple times he would say sure let me get that for you but no acknowledgment of the fact that we have already asked multiple times. That's rude. Upon exiting it didn't seem as if anybody would say goodbye have a nice day and it was about five staff at the counter, my friend and I stopped to use the bathroom and then when we were leaving one young lady, she was tall with black hair said you guys have a good day. All in all, I would go back the arroz con Pollo is something that I have to have in my life again! But it will probably be just a friend date or a date night or something like that I don't think I would try to have a big event here although it's pretty and gives off romantic vibes and I love that . So it's perfect for date night. The food and ambience was great. I wouldn't expect much of service though. I was truly disappointed in that area. I really love this spot for brunch. It's simple yet elegant with its white linens and spectacular views. Not an extravaganza of brunch foods but enough choices to satisfy the hungers! I gave it two stars because my husband liked his Sea Bass and the views were great. We came on Father's Day and had an 8:15 pm reservation. We were sat in a room with kids screaming and cell phones blaring there was lipstick on the water glasses. We asked to be moved and they moved us to the room next store which wasn't horrible. We got our food. My husband's food was top notch but I ordered the chicken with white wine sauce. It was not a white wine sauce. The chicken was rubbery and no better than I cook it at home. It was supposed to be chicken breast but there was some dark meat in it as well. As I write this my stomach is feeling nauseous and I am wondering what I actually ate. In the middle of the meal a family was sat by us with small children. The father apparently worked at the restaurant. He promptly pulled out his phone and blasted a kids cartoon on it loudly then went into the kitchen to work. It completely ruined the atmosphere We quickly finished our food because it was freezing cold and asked for our check. The waitress charged our card, but with the wrong bill. We then had to wait to have the first charge voided and pay again. Save yourself the trouble and go up the street to the Pomona Mining Company where you will still get kids blasting their phones but at least you have unlimited salad bar and decent food. The day of, there was massive traffic, with police and firefighters closing streets and diverting traffic. It was awful. Took 30-40 minutes to get to the freeway! We would be late for our massage and consequently late for our dinner. My husband called and explained the situation. They were willing to work with us, and adjusted our reservation. I got a text message confirmation that our reservation had been modified. The drinks were delightful, as was the bread and beans, and our entrees. I got the oxtail, hubby got arroz con pollo. The planning experience was remarkable as well. Every part of the event was organized, from the incredible food tasting to the many additional details that were required for this special event. I'm so grateful for Lupita's vision with decor. The decor was absolutely gorgeous. Fabian the exclusive DJ of Coco Palm was a hero to us! We had an unexpected family medical emergency and he did such an amazing job to help us navigate through this situation. Truly is the best DJ! Dinner at the Coco Palm Restaurant was such a wonderful experience. From the friendly hostess to our knowledgeable and attentive server Luis who gave us some good recommendations. The meal started with a ceviche appetizer, which was delicious but such a big serving! The entrees we selected were the oxtails with rice and black beans..the meat easily fell off the bones was so tender and good. The other entree of fried pork tender chunks in garlic sauce, also served with rice and black beans. To end our meal we enjoyed a delicious guava cheesecake. So divine! Our group of 50 held our holiday party here in early December. As far as planning, Rhonda was easy to work with, very accommodating on short notice, and kind. The food and service were amazing. Everyone seemed to take pride in their place of work and in their service.
