Great soups, quiches, flourless chocolate cakes, macarons & ah-mazing hot cocoa, which would be even better w/homemade whipped cream (canned stuff just isn't worthy) or better yet a homemade marshmallow square. Recent changes include panini sandwiches are a welcome change, even if the focaccia is a little dense. Agree w/others that the cakes are often way too dry, which is a shame as they are beautiful looking....they do need to address that. The tea cookies are always good. Wish they would bring back the heavenly lemon meringue cupcakes that I was lucky to have had once. This place really makes me long for the City Bakery, a great farm to table bakery & cafe in Manhattan that was a daily obsession when I worked in Union Square area. Would truly be 5 star place if the took a few pages from their playbook. From time to time I treat myself with a sweet and coffee before I have to head back into the office. Cupcakes are my favorite, but the cakes are good too. Not the normal American buttercream so the cakes aren't overly sweet. Gone a few times for lunch. A little on the expensive side for what it is, but least it taste great! They are always kind and provide great service. One time I went in for a get well cake. When I asked for them to write on the cake they did one better and used a chocolate piece. My absolute favorite chocolate chip cookies in all of NJ. The soups, which change on a regular basis are always wonderful. The sandwiches are made in advance and left out (wrapped up), except the tuna, which is kept in the bev frig. All of the sandwiches are good - butting into them reminds me of being in Europe - the taste is just that good. The only downside is the sandwiches run out early and the tuna wrap get soggy if it's later in the afternoon. There is limited seating inside and only 2 - 3 tables outside. Several of the chairs are due for replacement, but the food and friendliness of everyone cannot be beat! read more

My daughter loves this place. A hike at Natirar and a tea party afterward would be her idea of a dream day. We do this frequently. They are only little once. The pastries are delicious, the shop is cute and clean, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. It can get overrun with bikers--I mean cyclists, not the leather kind--on the weekends, but it's still a pleasant spot even when it's crowded. WOW! I needed a fabulous cake for my mom's 60th birthday and ended up finding CocoLuxe here on Yelp. My Boyfriend and I fell in love with this very charming little bakery. I was welcomed by the staff and the blond woman took my order, she was really nice and walked me through a few options I had not considered before walking in. She double checked my order with the baker and made sure I would have the cake on time (it was only ordered 5 days in advance) and it came out beautiful. The Cake: Chocolate cake with coconut cream filling and raspberry butter cream. The script writing was perfect - done in chocolate and topped with a spray of white sugar flowers. Now I have a sweet tooth and with the butter cream and sugar flowers I wish they were sweeter but the raspberry flavor of the cream was great, no complaints. When i got the cake on the dinner boat a staff member asked where i got the cake- she wanted to order one for her sisters 60th birthday, so I gave her a big piece and all the info...the cake was a crowd pleaser. While we were in the shop we picked up a flour-less chocolate cake. It was rich, smooth and melted in your mouth good and if you eat gluten free...EAT AWAY no flour just chocolate, egg and cream. When we picked up the cake I got a few truffles as party favors and they put them in these very pretty pink window boxes. We also got (gluten free) French Macaroons- they were amazing and delicate. The outer part of the cookie was crispy and when you bite in there was this amazing almond (paste?) and sandwiched in the middle was a chocolate filling...mmm WOW to bad they only make them on weekends...or it might be a good thing :) Over all cheers! Cocolux is the place to go for fine baked goods. Of course, it is the only bakery in the area. I have been a customer of Cocolux for about 4 years and have never been disappointed. Everything I have tried has been enjoyable. However, be careful around holidays. The store gets crowded and the women staffing the counter are easily flustered. Check you order before you leave. This little French themed bakery is always a nice place to stop in from time to time. Their array of pastries and desserts always look fresh and delightful! I've had their chocolate mice cakes, chocolate brioche, and little pecan tarts. My friend has had their macaroons and says they are delicious! The last time we came in for a quick coffee and pastry, the owner made us a fresh pot which was really sweet, or maybe just perfect timing! I am finally moving away form Nj and this is one of the things I will miss. You can't go wrong with any of their pastries since they are always fresh and delicious. My favorite is the pain au chocolat, the blueberry muffins, sweet or savory scones and the pecan muffins. I have tasted several of their cakes but fine them just okay. Maybe I am just used to the heavy german cake varieties. The cakes are fresh and moist but I find them bland which has not stopped me from ordering them. THey are the better bakery in the area. They do serve a nice assortment of baguette sandwiches and soup at lunch Sometimes a gluten free choice is available. One will be pleased by any of their sandwiches. They all are very very good. The down side to this place is the cyclists and the local moms. The cyclists converge here on the weekends. The clacking of their shoes is irritating as one tries to just relax. Once in a while you get a local mom with her toddler and their conversation takes over the entire room since it is rather quaint. Do expect to see many groups of cyclists on the weekend mornings. Among pastries, I would recommend croissants, flourless chocolate cake and crumb cake. They are all individual servings. They have the usual assortments of espresso based drinks. I favor a latte with whole milk. It's all made on the spot so other options are available. To me a plus is that should you choose to eat there, you can enjoy all of this in an actual coffee cup and on a plate. Civilized.
