I think the teenagers are keeping Cocomero in business and I seem to drop my daughter off here more than any other business lately. When my husband and i finished dinner at Pescadero next door we decided to grab some fro yo at Cocomero. I had always thought it was your typical ice cream shop (Graeter's style), but it's more like a menchies where you serve yourself and add all the toppings. Many of the toppings were mislabeled, but i know my sweets well enough to know what was what. I got peanut butter and chocolate fro yo mixed together, which hit the spot...along with some m&ms on top. There was one guy manning the whole thing, which consisted of ringing up lots of fro yo. We took ours to go since all the tables/chairs were occupied by teenagers. Personally I prefer Graeters or Oberweis for ice cream, but Cocomero seems to have lots of young fans! read more

They have a lot of froyo flavor options, including some that are low fat and fat free. There's also a large variety of toppings and sauces that can be added. It's charged by weight. It's colorful and bright inside. I took one star off because unfortunately the seating in the back of the shop was kinda dirty with and the bathroom was as well. read more

We went to get froyo and as we approched the machines, we saw there was a swarm of bugs (gnats, fruit flies?) flying around the entire area. They were also crawling on the machines, and there were so many it was impossible not to see them. It was too gross we left without any froyo. A shame too since we have been previously and there was good froyo - hoping they take the time to care for this issue and deep clean. read more

Here's what you need to know: the frozen yogurt is just not tasty, and the toppings are all generic food services junk. but they're open late , are across the street from Torino Ramen which we frequent a lot, and my 6 and 9 year olds love loading up their cup with the froyo and gummies and m&ms. Hence we end up going here and patronizing cocomero several times each year. And it's pricey at around $7 for a half filled cup for a 6 year old. Oh well! The 3rd star is because it provides useful employment to high school students who are generally very pleasant and patient to my kids. It would just take a few tweaks to make it better, but I don't think management is going to change the model. read more

I don't think they ever clean this place. Everything inside is nasty. For an establishment that provides food, there are stains everywhere, on the furniture , the wallsc floors. It's just disgusting. Cocomero has been a godsend to me during an extremely difficult break up. They supported me by staying open late hours on nights that were very rough and continued to serve their high-quality frozen delicacies. I was able to continue my sugar addiction, I mean enrichment, during a super depressing time in my life. Most importantly, the cocomero workers were always there to brighten my day. If you want the best frozen yogurt come here! The toppings are delicious and so is the flavors! Next time you come here you should get the toasted marshmallow and the French vanilla With boba balls and chocolate syrup. Place smells bad, gets dirty really quickly, and the staff is never behind the counter (they're hiding in the back for the history of time). Ice cream was ok, and toppings weren't adequate but they were there. The lady let me use my credit card for an under $5 purchase. Overall there are much better places than Cocomero. read more

No sample cups at first...but then offered one per customer after asking. Scale automatically adds in 1/2 an ounce and you have to notify them to adjust it back to zero. Staff also corrected me when I said "kids, ice cream time." Apparently I should have said "frozen yogurt." Just what I need, a teenager correcting me in front of my kids, no samples on less than common flavors, and an extra charge before I even buy. Definitely a fan. I first went to Cocomero while in college in Champaign. I love the flavor options and the toppings are delicious. There are about a dozen flavors i think, maybe a bit more, and plenty of topping options - fruits, candies, cake bites, brownie bites, etc. I generally get 1/2 cookies n creme and 1/2 cake batter frozen yogurt and then top it partly with cookie dough bites and partly with cheesecake bites. It's all incredibly tasty, really good. And I've always had good experiences with the quality - good consistency, good flavor, smooth froyo flow. There's one and only one drawback, it gets really expensive really quickly so you gotta be super careful about how much you add. It's great for a change of pace, but I'll probably go back to DQ where I get something similar once DQ opens in the spring since DQ is cheaper. read more

Thirty minutes before they closed on a Friday night, we walked in to find three everything had been put away and all that was left was the cups and yogurt machines. We inquired if we can get some, and was grunted at by the young woman working the counter. We took a little bit, and saw that a few of the toppings had covers and asked if we could pour some into our dishes. Long story short, they could have made a bit more money from us by not being so closed off, and with 10 other people walking in after us, still before closing time, it appears that Cocomero doesn't want our business. They don't deserve my business again. Would rather get in the car and drive somewhere else. read more

Even on a cold October day, this place looked inviting enough to stop in. A modern and colorful new entry to downtown Wilmette, which is a welcome change! The girl behind the counter was friendly. Worst frozen yogurt ever. Natural and fruit toppings were unavailable. They only had dry processed toppings. A very rude worker at the counter. Not to mention the weird political signs that were up. Took my daughter here for her birthday on June 17th. When we walked in there was no one there, we waited for a while before finally an asian woman who seemed to be the owner came out from a door leading to the back. She was on her cell phone, walked passed us and didn't bother acknowledging us. When I interrupted her phone call to ask about pricing, she didn't bother greeting us and seemed annoyed by me asking. Also, this had to be the worst "frozen yogurt" I've ever had. It wasn't frozen and it definitely didn't taste like yogurt at all. It tasted like cheap ice cream. Customers beware!!!! You will be ripped off. I paid $26.66 for two people?! We didn't have much toppings or yogurt because we didn't know if we would like it, as we were not able to sample any flavors before buying. The only reason I paid was because I didn't want to embarrass my daughter on her special day. I do not recommend this place at all. We've been here few times. Usually uneventful and kids like it. I tell them to not take all the heavy toppings as it adds up quickly for generally little. My daughter brought her gift card she got for her birthday. Strangely there was no value on it while she had not used it yet. A nice man ended up paying for her and her friend's ice cream (I wasn't there). Via social media I tried to find out who this nice man was, but no luck. However, I was notified of 3 different instances where people ended up with gift cards without value without having used the card. Doesn't sound right to me. We wanted to eat dinner at nearby restaurant but we had to wait, so we went into Cocomero to have desert first. Nice decor, good selection on toppings. The thing that looks like tapioca pearl was a bit weired. It was like salmon roe, Ikura, which is thin shell with liquid inside. Isn't it supposed to have chewy Jello texture? Oh well. Service was descent. We went in when it was slow, so I don't know what it's like on the Sunday afternoon, but it wasn't as bad as some other helper said. read more

This is a typical roll-your-own yogurt shop with several flavors to serve yourself and top with a variety of toppings. We asked for a sample cup, which in other shops are typically out for customers to use, and we received 1 cup. Kind of unnecessarily stingy and off putting. Amongst the plethora of frozen yogurt places finally opening in the burbs.....I would not recommend this one. Of the three samples I tried, all three machines were not at the right temp and the yogurt came out melty. The toppings are fine, but at .49 an ounce, this is not worth it for me. My little sample I bought for my husband to try came out to 2.97, and the container wasn't even a third full. When I went to the register to pay, I got a scripted and fast thank you for coming, see you soon...aaaand walk away from the person at the register, so I am not sure about the service. Very good price for frozen yogurt. You can come in and the establishment is colorful and youthful. Very clean and nice service. I live around the corner and I go to this place quite often and I am always eager to try new combinations. You can make your own bowl with any combination of toppings you want. The cashier weights the bowl and then you pay based on how much you put in. Be careful...heavy toppings like Reese's peanut buttercup can increase the price of your frozen yogurt. read more

The place smells terrible, and the woman was so stingy with the tastes (she insists on doing them for you) that I couldn't get the tiny amount of yogurt out of the taster cup.
