This place is awesome. I am a total Kook (very new to surfing) and was looking for a way to get the board on top of my car. They hooked it up! I can't say enough good things about this place. I've been coming to the spot for years to checkout boards and I can't say enough good things about them. Coincidentally I had a ding this morning after dropping my board unfortunately as it has happened to all of us. It needed more than what I could do with Solarez lol. I stopped by at 10:15am to drop it off and was stoked to hear it could be done as early as tomorrow. I got a call at 5:15pm to come and pick it up and couldn't believe it. Cool vibe, customer service is bad, cheap used boards. Kinda sums it up, I bought a fish they fixed up, it had small holes and cracks so I had them patch it up once it dried out after I used it the first time, still charged me 20. I stumbled across this place while repairing a 1990's board with a broken, obsolete OFish''l fin box a couple years ago. I've been back a few times to recycle some old boards and wetsuits. In return, I opted to get a gaggle of vintage fins and surf wax. Recently, I spotted one particulat gem in their massive inventory... an early 1960's log with a solid glass job, no delam or twist, just a few small chips and a few really old patched dings that needed help. I sent Coconut Peet photos of the unwanted boards and rack that I had in hopes for a trade and he promptly came up with a fair, straight-across deal. I showed up the next day- he kept his word and I walked out with the log under my arm and a big smile on my face! I didn't have much time to hang out that day, but Coconut Peet was personable and overall, a super easy guy to deal with. I'm not familiar with his ding repair work, but when it comes to trades, this is a place to check out literally TONS of boards, many of which are vintage treasures. My 5 year old daughter wanted to spend her piggybbank money (whole life savings) on a surfboard. So we rocked up to coconut peet's and they showed her a few options that a five year old could learn to surf on. Of course she picked the foamie with the hot pink on the bottom. We had to sneak out of the house so little sister and brother didn't get jealous so we broke out her two piggy banks and counted how much she had in the store. Kyle was sooo awesome and helped us count and we came up short for the price of the board and started counting quarters. He told us "don't worry about it" let's do it for what she has in there, "keep your quarters". He got her a leash and taught her how to wax her board. Gave her an awesome sticker. Can't even tell you how special this day was to my daughter and I. Her first surfboard that she bought all by herself and it was possible because of the amazing people at coconut peets! We work hard to teach our kids the way of the world-including that gratifying experience of being able to buy something for yourself that you have saved up for. She is SO stoked to try out her new board and we are so proud of her and so thankful! Coconut Peets will be getting ours and all our friends and family business forever! To help cope with the COVID blues I got a SUP with my rewards points but it didn't come with a paddle so we went in search for one and went to a few stores then to Coconut Pete's and they were super nice but said they couldn't sell a paddle without a board. I was bummed until another guy came to talk with us and said he sold a board with out a paddle the day before. He said he'd go count the boards and paddles to see if he could sell a single paddle and guess what? He did and he did! I knocked over my friends longboard, and it came crashing down on a sharp ledge, causing a three-quarter inch deep gouge on the side edge. I saw this shop was close and had good ratings so I took it down there the next morning at around 10:45. I got a call that it was finished at 3:15 the same day. Needless to say, everyone was happy. These guys actually are very knowledgeable and very fair priced on boards and accessories. The last two experiences I had here, I was very pleased with the service. They have a great selection of of both surfboards and sup boards. I bought a fin from Australia that unfortunately had a very small fin screw size, not the normal. They luckily had a fin screw and plate that worked with the fin. Overall, they are pretty cool guys that have an apparent love for all things ocean. I would recommend them. read more

Therefore it is essential to keep those boards fine-tuned and in good repair. An eyesore building and yard along Voltaire Street that has been-variously over the years- a storage yard for boats and all kinds of junk has new life! It is now Coconut Peet's Surfboard Repair. The funny-shaped property that overlooks busy Nimitz Blvd. is now in the business of restoring and refreshing and renewing broken and damaged surfboards, and also selling and/or trading used ones. Coconut Peet's has taken over the old Domino's Pizza building next to the old storage yard and has used it as a sort of Goodwill business for surfboards and other accessories. I saw a price list posted on the front door of prices charged for repairs and such and it looked very reasonable. Used surfboards are not exorbitant either. Ocean Beach can never have enough surfboard businesses. Coconut Peet's is in a good area where nearby residents shouldn't be complaining about the smell of resin and chemicals. I am giving Coconut Peet's 3 Stars just for being in business and doing something with that crappy corner lot that has junked up the neighborhood for so long! Refurbishing and selling used surfboards is another good example of recycling the old into new again . It is also an environmentally friendly thing to do. Good job Coconut Peer's! Had the please of working with Tony. Self-admittedly, I'm newer to surfing and was looking for my first proper board today. Contrary to most surf shops that I've been to, Tony and the team were very willing to answer any and all questions (no matter how dumb) while listening to my requests for a board that had plenty of life and could grow with me as I advance as a surfer. Tony showed me about 6 different models while fitting me for my ability, height, weight and style. We had candid discussions of the pros and cons of each model and he even worked with me on price! Tony showed me the 8' 6" Walden Magic Model and I was hooked. Also they threw in a free bar of base wax to get going. If there is one thing that will remain true regarding Coconut Peet's it's that their customer service is top notch. It's less about buying a board and more about the relationships you make. While I was there for 1 hour Tony recognized about 5 people by name that frequent the shop. I think it's safe to say that I'll likely become someone who comes around often too. I will continue to recommend Coconut Peet's to anyone that I run into in the San Diego area whether you're an advanced surfer or first timer. Cheers read more
