Billy and his team at Coconut Peet's saved our vacation. Awesome guys. Wish I could give them 10 stars! 3 families came down to surf, with teenagers and new, quality boards. 2 of the boards got bad dings on Thanksgiving morning, so they couldn't be used. We called repair places fri morning and everyone said repairs would take at least a week. Billy told us to bring the boards in and repaired them beautifully by 3 pm that day!! Very reasonable cost and no rush charge. Then, one of the kids noticed a ding that was hidden under wax, none of us had seen it. Their mom ran it up to Billy again, and he fixed it in 20 mins, no charge. SUPER nice, flexible, honest, talented guys. We'll definitely be using Peet's again. read more

I have many board and I visit in the past two years 5-6 times, the guys are really expert, and most times I was really happy. My last couple visit was no so good, 1.Prices are not fix there just looking at your face and throwing numbers.. 2.In my last visit I was waiting for 10 days for respond and when I came to pick up my brand new Merrick i surprised to find a new crack in the nose, happen at the time the board was there! and the worse was that are didn't wanna take responsibility at the beginning , at the very and the board was fix with no charge, overall it was bad experience that last time. read more

I went there because I had to fix the tail of my board. They give me a fair price (not grate) and a fixing time of 2 weeks. After one week, I received an SMS saying my board is fixed; PERFECT! They show me the table and there is a good job fixing the tail problem. But now my complaints start... When I was checking the board, I notice that one fin is missing. After almost 10 minutes they come with the fin, but during that time I spot a new knock on the age of the board, just where it lays down on the stacking track... I tell them about that new damage and the only answer I receive back is ... We fix boards, we don't break them! (in a real bad tone of voice) After some discussions, they didn't give me any solution to solve the new damage. And I agree they are there to fix tables not to break them... but it was strange that one fin was missing and even more the new board damage. I see all the reviews, and they are good. But if you ask me, AVOID THIS PLACE! read more

I went to this place and rented a board for a week. After the first day/time out I tweaked my back. It didn't get better for a week so I was kind of bummed I was only able to get out on it once. I called and told Billy my story. He said keep as long as you want. I thought that was really cool. Fast forward and today went in and was able to apply the money I paid to rent to just buy the board. These people treat you more like a friend than a customer. Will definitely be back. read more

Coconut Peet's Rocks!!! I ran my kayak into a parking structure because I forgot I had it on my car roof rack. It split both sides of the stern. I was calling everyone in San Diego looking for someone who would agree to fix my very broken almost new kayak and no one would touch it. Then I called Coconut Peet's and they were the brave ones willing to help him. They were kind, quick, and reasonably priced. They did an awesome job sealing up these gaping cracks. I couldn't be happier with my whole experience with them. I thought my kayak was beyond repair. I was so relieved when I heard them say they could fix it. Went in to get a repair. The guy (never told me his name) said he could blend the color to match my board. Said he would remove a big section of glass, let it dry for a week or so, and put some new glass down. Well, none of this happened. The board still has water in it, heavy as hell, the color doesn't match at all and he replaced a much smaller area than he said he would. Tried to get me to trade my board in for a ridiculously low amount, and sell me a new one. When I said no he didn't seem happy about it. Told him I just wanted to repair my board. He then did a half-ass job. The guy just had a bad attitude overall towards customers. There are plenty of other surf shops in town. I'd recommend any of those over this one. read more

Recently getting more active after back surgery and went to see if I could trade a couple of my boards for a SUP to get back out in the water so I can start building my core up again. Worst customer service. Ever. Buckled a new board and brought it in, bruised and battered (both myself and my board). Got nothing but condescension from some d. bag who said he'd "...probably not get to it for a couple of weeks...", that my board wasn't very good, and basically inferred that I didn't know how to surf. He wanted to charge me a small fortune and said they wouldn't be able to even match the color, "...what color comp-stripe do you want?" I must have felt so beat-up that I left it there. Got to thinking about it and fumed more and more and then called Joe Ropers asking what they thought. After a brief, pleasant discussion, I went to Peets, got my board, took it to Ropers. Peets staff did nothing to keep my business at all, they couldn't have cared less... Ropers did the job in half the time, color coded it so the work couldn't even be seen, and charged me HALF the price. Take your board to Peets if you want but Ropers has been in business since the 70's... Just saying. read more

Coconut Peet's is amazing because they recycle wetsuits. THEY RECYCLE WETSUITS!!! I can't find anyone else in San Diego that does. I'm thrilled that my old wetsuit won't end up in the landfill. I just picked up my Longboard from Coconut Peet's shop today...and I can't say enough about how awesome this place is!! Seriously...the day I dropped my board off, I knew I would go no where else from now on!! First off...the place is LowBrow (that's not a bad thing at all), Old School, and Grass Roots all at the same time!! We should appreciate a joint that has stuck to its guns and kept the BS out!! In any business...any service! Then you'll notice the Straight up 'Hows it going?' from the staff...then you'll notice the kick ass art work all over the outside and inside walls...boards of all sorts, shapes, eras, classes, and conditions. Then there's 'Brendy'...a sweetheart of a dog that loves attention. Ok, back to business...so Joel, went over my board...gave me a very reasonable quote...estimated turn around...and off I went. Once my board was done, Joel let me know...confirmed the quote I was given and I looked forward to picking up my board!! So I picked up my board today...the work was Superb!! Seriously...each fix is smooth, clean, and solid!!! The Free wax removal was done top notch!! No residue or missed spots!! When I got there Joel brought my board out, laid it on the horses and we went over it...Joel offered to reattach my fins, but I left them at home, and then he asked if there was anything else I needed? My wife went in and grabbed a couple bars of wax...I strapped my board down. I then noticed my wife walking out with a piece of artwork on canvas...and she tells me Joel gave it to us as a Welcoming gift to San Diego?? Serious?? Signed with a welcoming on the back!! This place is great ! I took my big wave board in for some major repairs ; broken fin. cracked rail, etc, Told them, take your time, no hurry. I only use that board in the winter. Well that was around 12:30pm. By 4pm the same day they called and said it was ready. How cool is that? That was so fast. Crazy. Great work and very low prices. I'm a total beginner. With that said, I managed to broke the nose....twice! First time, I pearled like a pro. Second time, a "huge" 6ft wave took me over. Nose dive into the ground and I was speared by the tail end (it felt like I was speared through the chest). Amazing part was the first crack that Billy fixed was as strong as steel and didnt break. Took it in both times and in less than 6 hrs, it was back to normal! I was in no rush to get it back because I need some time to heal...but I guess break time is over. Time to get back into the water! Thank you Billy and the crew! Oh yeah, Christa was very helpful and knows a lot about boards. I started a yelp account purely to give these guys a 5 star review. I was that compelled. I took a board in years ago to fix a busted fin box because like an idiot I put super glue in the stripped screw thinking I could pull it out. They fixed it back then and recently I had a board with rusted screws that I thought no one could get out. They did such a remarkable job without damaging the boxes. I really like the authenticity of this surf shop/repair shop. I found other surf shops to be run by shady characters trying to rip you off or sell you on things you don't need. There's a ton of integrity from Coconut Pete's that is so refreshing. They want you to get back in the ocean and will charge you a very fair price for repairs. No reason to ever go Jojo Ropers. read more

Very impressed! About a year ago I took my boyfriend's board to a place in Torrance, CA, where I was charged $70 and had to wait 2 weeks for a minor repair (AB Surf Repair I think - DON'T go there!). We were a little weary of repair shops after that experience, but he really wanted his other board in working condition so we decided to take it here. He brought it in on Tuesday and it was ready by Weds. He fixed around 9 different spots including a huge gash on the side and charged LESS than what we had paid for the one spot on the previous board at the other repair shop. I hate coming here only because this is my go-to spot for surfboard repair, so when I have to make the trip to Coconut Peet's, it is usually a sad day. After my last unfortunate encounter with a kook who decided to surf without a leash, I had a huge ding on the tail of my favorite 9' board. I've brought every single one of my repairs to Coconut Peet's since moving to SD, and it is always a pleasure having them fix my boards. You think you are going to have to drop $100 on a repair, and they always quote you far less. They even color match! And they do a truly amazing job. I was told the repair would be 3-5 days, which was fine, but they called SAME DAY to say it was fixed, even though I brought the board by at about 2pm on a Sunday and they close at 6. Like I said, I hate coming here, but I'm always glad to bring them my business. read more

Best of all, there is a "store credit" return policy - bring a board back (in good condition) and trade up for 100% of the original value. They'll sell the board again and you get a nicer one!
