Watch out for this place if you're a big guy or a little bit overweight. I went there yesterday and a waiter walked up to me immediately and said you need to use two chairs because you're too fat. Like I said I'm a big guy but I'm nowhere near fat. I took offense to his remark and spoke to the manager about it. Unfortunately the manager at the same disrespectful tone and response. He told me if I didn't want to sit in two chairs that I can get the fuck out of his restaurant. And that's a quote. So I grabbed my five friends and we left. This place discriminates. My husband and I took a private tour, and our driver, Martin, recommended this place. I knocked one star off because of the overpricing, but the views were amazing and the drinks were solid. The alcohol pours were generous, and the staff was super friendly. I had a pina colada and my husband had a margarita. We started with two shots of Don Julio blanco. We left with a pretty nice buzz. We only had guacamole and chips to eat, as we weren't very hungry. If the guacamole and salsa are reflective of their overall meal, then I'd recommend this place for the food too. Guacamole was buttery, and the salsa was fresh and just the right amount of spicy. Our waiter was humorous, and that's the general vibe. Crude humor and party-drinking vibes. This is such a unique place far better than senior frogs! The food, view and people makes this place a great Gem! We had cold beer, great margaritas and awesome ceviche. If you have the ability to make it here, don't miss it! The "Stairway to Heaven" was adorable with signs to keep you interested as you are trekking up toward the restaurant. Once you get there you are greeted with big Hello's and service. We self sat down by the view toward the back and it was well worth making it up those steps! The view was breathtaking! We ordered a few drinks and appetizers. Started with two margaritas. These were the biggest and most potent drinks I've ever had, it didn't take much to feel it's effects! We also ordered the Conch Ceviche and it was pretty good. I loved the fresh Guacamole and the Chicken Quesadillas which were served to you more like a soft taco rather than the American traditional Quesadilla but tasted very yummy! As we were close to leaving one of the servers brought me the "family album" and asked if I'd like my picture taken.... I will leave it to your imagination, the photos of coconuts which were in this album. I declined personally but if you have more guts then I, they will give you a free shot of tequila if you show yours! (I can only assume this is ladies only according to the photos). This place is one of my favorite destination bars in Cozumel. The views cannot be beat and the food and drinks are quite good. It's located on top of the only cliff in Cozumel. If the weather is nice, you will want to make the trekk. Also, the service is friendly and fast. Enjoy! read more

What a treat! On day 2 of our vacay in Cozumel, we decided to venture around the island and find some yummy ceviche. Coconuts was awesome! It's on a beautiful part of the island and hidden away up some stairs in the cliff, overlooking the ocean. The atmosphere is very fun and cheeky and the service is great. The ceviche was so fresh and tasty. We also enjoyed shrimp quesadillas, tacos and chips and guac. Drinks are also huge and delicious. The view from the restaurant is AMAZING around sunset. You must go to Coconuts for dinner if you are in the area. The restaurant has a really fun, quirky, and laid back vibe. Funny signs everywhere, sand on the ground, I loved it! Food was fairly priced, and nothing special, I thought. Oh Coconuts...you are my favorite spot to visit on the Island. I love how you are far enough away from the main strip which detours some of the tourists. I love the strong drinks, the amazing views and servers who know how to have a good time. Coconuts is a great place to visit while on the island. The food is decent, your typical tacos and fajitas....chips and fresh guacamole. We were able to order fajitas and brought our own low carb tortillas. The scene is very adult friendly, I am not sure I would call this a family location but hey....to each their own. They have cats and dogs wandering through the bar, aligators, turtles and birds, cameleons surround the location. Old shirts, bras and panties adorn the palm hatch roof. If you get friendly with the servers you can ask to see the photo albums that show all the ladies having a fantastic (one too many margaritas) time. read more

We visited Coconuts after a trip to El Mirador. It's situated at what is likely the highest point on the island of Cozumel. The view was spectacular and the drinks were delicious. The atmosphere was really fun and humorous, lots of signs and memorabilia from guests of the past. There were several resident animals, including three parrots, a cage full of pigeons, many chickens, a few dogs, at least one cat, and an alligator. We had some complimentary chips, guac, and very spicy salsa, and ordered a plate of nachos. The order of nachos was very small to split between five of us, but it was very cheesy and the chicken was flavorful. No toppings aside from the cheese and chicken, but did have a side of guac and a small dish of jalapeños. Overall, a fun time. Would be a great place to stop for a drink with friends. read more

This place is awesome!!!! As you walk through the path leading you to the restaurant, you see a number of cool and fun signs and by then you would have already gauged the restaurant vibe. One of my favorites is "if you have a reservation, you've reached the wrong place". The restaurant has some of the best views of the ocean. I loved the vibe of this restaurant - easy going and funky. Not so much child-friendly for a large number of reasons. We started with a pina colada, and then ordered a couple of appetizers - beef nachos and jalapeño poppers. The pina colada was excellent. Jalapeño poppers were delicious with generous amount of cheese and jalapeño. Beef nachos were exceptionally good, the beef was juicy and tasty. The nachos had the right amount of cheese. We started with drinks. I thought the outdoor eating area was beautiful, however, if they thinned the trees a little the breeze could be enjoyed by all, just saying. We ordered fajitas that were mixed. Shrimp was excellent and not over cooked. There was a green sauce that could be doubled as a paint stripper. Make sure you have something cold to drink when trying. Start with a teaspoon. The conch ceviche is a must. I'm sure if the waiter knew more English he would have brought us real fajita tacos like were were charged instead of some meat that looked more stewed than grilled. Salsa was delicious and tacos were fine. I would stay away from the BLUE DRINK. Apparently one of these can light your entire soul on fire. We ordered but did not even drink half. Very colorful environment. You might get a free should massage from the waiter that will make your wife smile. Very nice views and pictures moments on the way. Watch your step and kids if they are little, the cliff is unforgiving. Small hike up many steps to get to the restaurant. It did not look friendly to handicap folks. Neat little restaurant and bar on "otro lado" (other side) if Cozumel. This restaurant is situated at the top of a little bluff that overlooks the ocean with incredible views! If you are physically handicapped or disabled, be aware that the entrance to this location is a series of rock steps on the bluff side - definitely not ADA compliant! The bar itself is a hut with lots of license plates, t-shirts, and can coozies ornamenting every surface of the walls and ceiling. We just got an order of guacamole and a soda, so I can't speak much to the food. Be careful with the pico though, it was hella spicy. Also, this place had a lot of neat animals roaming about. Don't be like the Karen that brought her dog with her though, the dogs that call this place home don't seem to like company much. read more

Stopped in for lunch on the way to San Gervasio at the recommendation of several tourists from Houston who swear by this place. The view is undeniably one of the best on the island, as the place is nestled high on a cliff above the Caribbean. Drinks are large, strong, and reasonably priced. The stairs can be a bit difficult to climb back down after a few drinks though, as they're pretty steep and a little crooked. Guac was awesome, chicken quesadillas so-so. There are a few resident dogs that are super friendly, but be warned--the parrot will mock you and he has judgey eyes. Watch out for the local vendors who set up shop right outside the restaurant, as they will follow you in and don't really hear "no" the first three times you explain that you have no use for a cricket woven out of palm grass. We come here once a year on our scooter ride around the island and it never fails. It's easy, get some guacamole and chips, fish tacos and beer. It's a bit raunchy with the whole 'show us your tits' thing, but whatever...it's a gorgeous slice of paradise on the other side of the island. read more

Between the location (high up on a cliff overlooking the Atlantic side of Cozumel) the decor, the bawdy wait staff, family photo album and, of course, the great food, this is a must stop when on the island. The guacamole with pico de gallo and the blue margaritas are excellent. The margaritas are very strong and taste great. The vibe from the wait staff and sometimes customers makes it a fun stop. The only drawback is that the site is typically pretty warm with minimal breeze. I think the wind hits the cliff an goes up over the seating so when it's hot (all the time), there is little breeze to cool you off. We were taken here by a local friend -- she (she's a chef) highly recommended it. It was pretty darn good. The décor makes you feel relaxed and ready for a good time. The views are amazing, too. I noticed some reviews about not good for little kids. Well, we took our toddler and there were no issues. Things may have changed -- we got lucky. I don't know. It's a very cool and hip place with the ocean on one side and a ton of shirts, license plates etc. to look at on the other. The food was good and just what we needed after exploring the island and Maya ruins. I had the beef fajitas, lots of meat but yummy. We also got nachos on the house and a little grasshopper made of leafs and branches which they're selling in Playa del Carmen. I thought that was cute. read more

They have seriously some of the best guacamole I've ever had! Get the guacamole and conch ceviche, a few beers, and sit right at the edge of the cliff. You'll have one of the most beautiful views in Cozumel, get to have your feet in the sand, and pet the dogs that live there. (One is named Jagermeister!)
