I very much enjoyed coconuts! From the super strong yet tasty margarita & banana mama to the best chicken tacos I've ever had to the freshly seasoned shrimp ceviche to the beautiful view. The music is upbeat and they have their own collection of dogs, cats, chickens and tropical birds. Oh and they have the tastiest fresh salsa have ever had. Love love love this place and would totally come back if and when I'm back in Cozumel. read more

Thank you Yelpers for leading me to another fun spot. My husband and I are staying in the Cozumel Palace and rented a Jeep and headed around the coast. Beautiful drive including Punta Sur. I was on the look out for Coconuts and there it was on a high bluff. Sat In the outside area with a gorgeous view of the beaches. Ordered the guacamole, chicken nachos, cheese quesadilla and the grilled shrimp. The shrimp were large and served with salad, rice and tortillas. My husband loved them. More than anything we have eaten at the Cozumel Palace. 80's music-a very fun afternoon. read more

The view is truly amazing! Coconuts only accepts CASH! they don't electricity so no frozen drinks either it's a bit high up on a cliff but truly spectacular views. I didn't get a chance to eat there but the margarita was great! read more

All stars are for the view. The food is SUPER-dumbed-down-gringoized, even by Mexico tourist standards. Go for a drink and if you're hungry grab some chips, the salsa was the only food with flavor. read more

So disappointing, and was violently ill due to the waiters being dishonest about the contents of their food. I have a gluten allergy and asked if the fish in the tacos were rolled in flour, they assured me I would be safe. When they were placed in front of me the texture of the fish looked suspect. Against my better judgement, I ate one of them. Immediately I knew not to consume any more. I even spoke to the manger of the bar, who claimed no flour was used to prepare the fish. Within 30 minutes it was clear they either had no idea or just flat out lied! Both of which are inexcusable, especially for people with allergies. TERRIBLE service!!! read more

Got ripped off by the waiter. Bill was $57.00. Gave $80.00 to pay the bill and the other $20.00 to brake for tip. The waiter brought back $3.00. Coconuts is crazy, and crazy good! This place seems to be a big hit with visitors to Cozumel, despite being on the quiet side of the island. There's no swimming here, but Coconuts has created a sandy area filled with little palm trees up on the cliff. It's beachy, intimate, colorful, and really fun. Beautiful views too. The food here was excellent, definitely exceeded our expectations. The nachos were stellar, especially the beef ones, which come with pieces of steak. We also had some killer jalapeno poppers. Afterwards we wandered down the little path to look over the cliffs, and the view is stunning and completely unspoiled. Highly recommended! read more

Come for the food and drink, but stay for the view. I'm pretty sure this is the highest elevation on the island and the views are magnificent. I would suggest heading here on windy or stormy days when other beach and water activities may have to be curtailed. Watching the roaring rolling surf on rough days is even more spectacular. The prices are a bit high for Mexico, but given the location they aren't exorbitant. read more

I ordered the garlic shrimp . enjoyed so much that i asked the manager how the prepared the shrimp and look forward to trying it next week when i get home .driving south from town to get there was not necessary . the views from the resturant was enough . Staff was polite and well versed on the menu . The salsa was the best i have had on the island read more

I've been going to Cozumel for 20+ years. When Coconuts opened..that was it!! My new hang! Come from Texas every year just to hang. Love staff and the owner. Great food and great drinks. You can just look out at the Caribbean( my mind saver) for hours or hang at the bar and have great conversations with others who come. Beach area is very nice also. We stayed at the hotel right next door to Coconuts. After reading reviews, I was super excited to go here. Sadly, I was disappointed. It feels like at one time this was a great place to go--a funky bar with 80s music playing overlooking the sea beckoning as an oasis for expats and Americans on vacation. But I guess that's where the problem lies. It's like everything was screaming We Love Americans and Let's Party! But the actual people that worked there seemed to actually not like Americans. I get it. As I looked around there were some of the Ugly American stereotypes. But I'm not. I'm actually a pretty seasoned traveler that is very respectful. Yet I watched our server grudingly take our order and then light up and talk for several minutes with the Mexican nationals vacationing at the table over from us. This was a theme as I looked around, but I think the majority of the Americans there, which was by far the majority there which was odd in itself as that is not what I experienced on most of the trip, was too buzzed to notice the subtle annoyance from the staff. read more

View is spectacular. Perched on a little outcropping along the western, undeveloped side of Cozumel. Caged (small) crocodile on premises as well as some parrots. Food is average, prices are inflated. Don't bother asking to buy ice. read more
