We dined at Coconuts on the Saturday during Tortuga Fest for a late lunch. I hadn't been here in nearly two decades. To my surprise, it was much better than most places on the water. The food good and our fish was fresh. Also, pigeon peas and rice is a nice alternative to French fries. I ordered club soda with a splash of grenadine. I received more than a splash but the refills kept coming which was beneficial given the heat. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and having a view of the water. Our server did a great job and the staff are very honest. I realized after we left the table I had left my cell phone on the table. I hurried out of the restroom and the bus person had turned it in. BEWARE! Protect your personal information!! This is moreso about management's lack of concern to protect its customers credit/debit card personal information. I parked in their parking lot and when I left, I gave the park attendant a tip BY CARD, but it appears he was wearing meta glasses. Shortly afterwards, I called Coconuts and informed the manager, Matthew. He brushed me off and told me the park company is third party and rushed me off.m the phone. I explained they are still responsible to protect their customers information and it's inappropriate for him to wear meta glasses while dealing with credit cards. He brushed me off again. I called again and spoke to another manager who was just as bad and used the same excuse, before he hung up on me when I told him I would post reviews and publicly inform customers. Went back last night after the best lunch experience. Yall we don't go to the same place twice on a vacation. Often disappointed the second time we don't ever try. But Coconuts is a place I would go every day if I could a) afford it, b) live nearby! We put our name in for a table of 7 on a Sunday night and knew it was going to be a wait. They quoted us 1 1/2 hours and since we knew that was a possibility we said yes and all went to grab a drink at the bar. Lucky for us a high top for four opened up so we let the kids go explore while the adults grabbed a bottle of wine and Scoobies. We had barely ordered when my husband got a text that our table was ready (!! Nine minute wait!!). He went to check it out (we thought it might be an error). Sure enough our table was ready. It's a decent enough restaurant, if you can park of course. They do offer valet parking but the valets are definitely not friendly at all. That negative beginning really set the tone for the rest of my experience. The restaurant is located on the marina, so you have nice water views and fresh air. The outdoor veranda is quite large with cooling water vapor fans overhead helping to keep the hear at bay. Our server Chris was very friendly and offered up advice on the different dishes they had available. My jambalaya was tasty, but small. Even with the $18.50 up charge for a crab cake, the bowl was only a third full. The New England clam chowder and the conch fritters were really the stars of the evening. If I ever return, I would probably just stick with some apps and a beverage. Generally it was an ok experience, but really nothing worth raving about. read more

A friend was in town and this was close to where she was staying! We started off with drinks...I had a blackberry mojito which was very good. I then had the side Caesar salad which was delicious. We ended up sharing the seafood paella. It was decent... the rice was a little crunchy so if that isn't your thing than this isn't for you. There was a few muscles, a lobster claw and a piece of tail, couple or shrimp and a piece of chicken leg. I expected it to have a little more flavor but it was decent. I probably wouldn't order again. The place was clean to include the bathroom. The service was good and the place was busy! The parking was only $5 so that's a plus! This was a really great place. They have outdoor seating and a lot of fresh food options too choose from. I asked my Uber driver for recommendations and this was immediately the first place that he suggested so based off that (and seeing the online reviews) I made it the spot for the night and was very pleased that I did. Their signature App is the Scoobies which I'll have to try next time because I opted for the Coconut Shrimp (since the name of this place was Coconuts) and really enjoyed those. For the main I got the swordfish and crab and it was really really good. Overall this was a nice local spot to try out and I'd recommend to anyone in the area. read more

One of our guides on an excursion recommended this restaurant. Started with two appetizers, the coconut shrimp and the artichoke dip and both were fantastic.. Followed up with the fish tacos, which weren't necessarily California style tacos, but still very good and a mahi mahi fish sandwich. We went to this restaurant for lunch, I had seen a partial revue about this place and was really excited to try it. To start the restaurant was nice, I love the outdoor seating. The service was also great. Now the food, the food was mediocre. Nothing to rave about. The scoobies and peel and eat shrimp were the best things that we had. We ordered a chicken Cesar salad, the dressing was odd, had a hint of sweetness. We ordered the ribs with fries and a salad, the ribs I'm sorry were not good at all, the salad came out about 15 minutes later, we left half of the rib plate on the table. Had a great time here before catching a flight at Fort Lauderdale airport. We did have to wait about an hour for a group of two (Sunday late afternoon) but the food and experience was definitely worth the wait. We got seated in the patio area right outside the restaurant where they had shades to block out the sun but a great view of the water. So good that went twice during my 3 day trip to Ft Lauderdale. The location on the bay with open air dining is absolutely fitting, for this lively restaurant. Every dish that our group had (both nights) were really good: Scoobies (crab claws sautéed in garlic butter) salted shrimp, deviled eggs, coconut shrimp and the coconut house salad. All of the food was fresh and flavorful. We also had coconut cheesecake and key lime pie which were also great. We had a short wait, at prime dinner time. 7:00PM for a group of three. The service was prompt and the servers had great, genuine personalities. This will be a spot every time I visit Ft Lauderdale. read more

Every bite tasted nourishing, fresh made, and most of all fresh from the sea. Our server was very tentative and made sure we had what we needed the entire time. We came early, like 4:30 and got a table easily. We sat inside but had a great view. We started with the scoobies (crab claws with butter/chili flakes, garlic, and herbs) and it came with some bread. The crab was delicious, a little spicy for kids but so good. Then we had the crab cakes and the potatoes crusted red snapper. Everything was so good and our server was friendly. While we were in Ft. Lauderdale, we ate lunch here twice. The first time, we plowed into our food so fast I forgot to get pictures. I ordered the sashimi tuna salad both times because it was so delicious. Both times, the salad ingredients were so fresh! Also the tuna was delicious. The salad also came with seaweed salad, ginger, avocado and mango as well as all the regular salad ingredients you can think of. It was served with a ginger soy dressing that went beautifully with the salad not to mention I wanted to just drink it. The first time we went, my husband got the blackened mahi mahi sandwich served with one side which he picked Cole slaw. He loved it so much that when we went the second time he intended on ordering the same thing. On their daily special menu they had a panko breaded red snapper so he decided to give it a try. The sandwich had a piece of snapper that was big enough for two sandwiches as well as tomato, lettuce and pickled onions. It came with one side and he had the coke slaw again. He loved it! While staying in Fort Lauderdale, we were continually striking out on the restaurant choices UNTIL we found Coconuts/G&B Oyster Bar. We chose to sit on the G&B side as you seat yourself and there was a table available. You can order from both menus regardless of which side you sit on. We decided to just go for a group of appetizers. The waitresses were super helpful and highly recommended the scoobies. The scoobies come in a fabulous sauce and they give you a few pieces of bread to sop up the yummy sauce when you have finished your scoobies. They were super tasty and I highly recommend you give them a try. We also had the coconut shrimp, crab dip and jerk chicken wings. They were all tasty and my husband loved the Smokey flavor of the wings. We finished the night with a slice of the coconut cheesecake.
