Anyway , the scoobie snacks were ok, nice portion. The butter garlic sauce was phenomenal, tho!!! I wanted more....I poured the sauce on my fries and lobster roll and it just magnified the flavor... also ask for extra garlic! The lobster roll was on par with other rolls I had in Maryland... selection of food is minimal but that helps them focus on what they do well- provide excellent service . My only gripe is that I don't really like restaurants that put MP because if you have been doing it long enough you know where to price it to make a profit... but each dish was $28 and $29 respectively... The key lime pie was alright not too creamy like other cheese cakes but the crust and whip cream were delish. Would I come back.... Maybe during happy hour for a drink and appetizer and to catch the sunset... the vibe was what it is--birds with boats and plastic bags and fish all commingling in the harbor. Only positive is they don't force down a 20% tip like other places... I paid in cash so took the service fees away and gave my guy a 16% tip... should of deserved more but I know some rich fat cat will make it up later down the line... read more

We did have to wait about 30 minutes to an hour to be seated because we didn't know this place was so popular. I suggest making a reservation if you don't want to wait. Other than that the ambiance and food did not miss. We ordered the ribeye, snapper and crab, and a dozen oysters. The drinks were also made well so I was surprised, for most establishments it's either the drinks are a miss or the food is a miss but both were 5/5. Heard about this place before I moved to Florida . Has a lot of history and for good reasons. The food just doesn't disappoint!! Came for date night and we had the scoobies (crab claws) dipped in an amazing butter. The fish dip was top tier and would be great for lunch. Later we then had the catch of the day which was sword fish !!! Absolutely insane and my first time having sword fish. When I say it was cooked to perfection, not a joke ! We also had the snapper but the sword fish just took the cake for us. Later then was offered by the nice waitress plenty of desert options . Went with the cookie ice cream sandwich Togo! Just okay. Went here Friday at 5pm because it was across the street from our hotel. Our waiter seemed very stoic and less than thrilled to be there. We ordered the shrimp and conch fritters. Only two of them had one single piece of conch. The rest were just like eating hush puppies. We ordered the Scoobie's which were tasty but at $28 definitely overpriced for such a tiny amount of crab. I'm not sure what the cost is per pound of snow crab in Florida but in Dallas it's $32 per pound at a good restaurant and we are not even close to the water. The coconut shrimp was good. View was okay. I much would have preferred a view of the ocean waves. Overall it just wasn't worth $72 for 3 things, in my opinion. read more

Carlos at the front desk was so genuine and friendly -- really set the tone for the evening. As a S.FL native I've been to Coconuts on a few occasions in the past. However it's been a few years since I've been back simply because it reminds me of a loved one who's no longer with us that I used to come here with. The food has always been good but in the past I primarily came for the beautiful scenery and the convenient location on Fort Lauderdale Beach. However after my visit last night for a friend's birthday that has officially CHANGED . I'm not certain what changes they've made but they've officially become a MICHELIN QUALITY CULINARY CONTENDER with the dishes we ate. Our group's selections included the smoked fish dip, calamari, smoked octopus with the most savory balsamic vinaigrette drizzle , raw oysters, jambalaya with a decadent crab cake on top, hush puppies, their house salad, Langostino tacos and scoobies! I'm literally reminiscing about just how fresh and flavorful every single dish was as I write this review! Our group decided to try a little bit of everything from everyone so I'm speaking from experience when I say Each Dish was Chef's kiss! My family and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner on an early Friday. There was immediate availability outside which was a tad warm, but we received plenty of ice water and were seated by a big fan to keep us cool. Our waiter was quick and got us Scoobies which were a hit with my daughter. We also ordered seafood paella, comfort bowl with chicken, crab cake entree, and coconut shrimp platter. Upon arriving and walking into coconuts, I couldn't believe that after living in Florida over a decade that I've never been! It was a busy Sunday, with the bar packed and wait for tables. We were then told we can seat ourselves at the oyster side (think seaside dive bar feel) where the seating outside bar is seat yourself. I loved the concept of connected bars with the restaurant (a bit more classy) being coconuts and the front bar being the oyster bar but you can order from either menu. We were quickly greeted, table cleaned and multiple servers continued to check on us. For how busy it was, I was really surprised how quickly our food arrived. We ordered grilled corn, Mac and cheese, and two different salad- one with crab cake and one with lobster. The Mac and cheese was a huge portion and delicious! Any time my husband and I are in town, we make a stop here. It's one of our favorite places for the food, ambiance and view of the water. Nothing is better than their one-of-a-kind scubbies. Their diverse oyster selected is also delectable & we could have these over and over again. Friday night in January (peak season) and Coconuts was busy, we waited about 65 minutes for an outdoor table. Definitely the longest I've ever waited here, but honestly understandable given the time of year. To start, we ordered Scooby's, those little crab claws are drenched in garlicky goodness and will absolutely leave you wanting more. For the main, I had the Rosemary Chicken. It comes almost "soup style" with all the jus they give you, super flavorful and really yummy, but fair warning: it's splash-prone, so eat carefully. We also tried the fish special (I can't remember the exact fish). The flavor was good, but I kept finding scales, which made the dish unpleasant. Valet is $5 onsite, and the two accessible bars made the wait a lot more tolerable. Overall: great vibe and some standout bites, but I'd love to see more consistency--especially with the fish. read more

We dined at Coconuts on the Saturday during Tortuga Fest for a late lunch. I hadn't been here in nearly two decades. To my surprise, it was much better than most places on the water. The food good and our fish was fresh. Also, pigeon peas and rice is a nice alternative to French fries. I ordered club soda with a splash of grenadine. I received more than a splash but the refills kept coming which was beneficial given the heat. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and having a view of the water. Our server did a great job and the staff are very honest. I realized after we left the table I had left my cell phone on the table. I hurried out of the restroom and the bus person had turned it in. It's a decent enough restaurant, if you can park of course. They do offer valet parking but the valets are definitely not friendly at all. That negative beginning really set the tone for the rest of my experience. The restaurant is located on the marina, so you have nice water views and fresh air. The outdoor veranda is quite large with cooling water vapor fans overhead helping to keep the hear at bay. Our server Chris was very friendly and offered up advice on the different dishes they had available. My jambalaya was tasty, but small. Even with the $18.50 up charge for a crab cake, the bowl was only a third full. The New England clam chowder and the conch fritters were really the stars of the evening. I asked my Uber driver for recommendations and this was immediately the first place that he suggested so based off that (and seeing the online reviews) I made it the spot for the night and was very pleased that I did.
