We had an excellent evening dining at Maass! The restaurant is set up very nicely and located right on ft lauderdale beach within the Four Seasons. Upscale and clean as well as having a relaxed atmosphere. Everyone we interacted with was very welcoming. This is a great spot for a date night or to celebrate something! We each had a pre-dinner cocktail on one of the couches outside before being seated, which were both delicious- Highly recommend the Toronto! As well as the Taormina if you are looking for something a little on the sweeter side. Once we were seated inside, we ordered the tasting menu which allowed us to sample a little bit of everything. All of the dishes were very unique and different from each other. We were served the wellfleet oyster, shrimp cocktail, duck confit, foie gras nutter butter, apple and burrata salad, a pasta dish with truffle, brioche stuffed Amish chicken, and the "banana" for desert with some other small pastries as well as jelly candies. The favorite was the foie gras nutter butter, which was absolutely decadent- I highly recommend giving this a try. We will definitely be returning in the future once they update their seasonal menu with new dishes!

Tried MAASS Restaurant recently and overall it was a really nice experience. The space is beautiful and definitely feels like a special night out kind of place. The dishes were well executed, nicely presented, and you can tell a lot of thought goes into the flavors. Service was also great -- the staff were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. That said, it is definitely on the expensive side. For me personally it's more of a one-and-done experience or something I'd save for a special occasion rather than somewhere I'd rush back to regularly. The food was good, but not something I'm dying to come back for. Still glad we tried it and it was a unique dining experience.

This review is for the Chef's Counter at Maass. Counter seating for approximately 16-18 people with two fixed menu options. We chose the lessor Excursion Menu with upgrade for Black Truffle shavings and an extra Wagyu Beef dish. Two work stations are directly visible while seating at the counter with two chefs at the hearth / grill in the rear and one chef at the sauté / sous vide / boil in the front section. A dessert section with shave ice machine is in the far left back and cold table in the far right back. Executive and Assistant Chef perform QC and Plating for the visible two hot sections in front. The big advantage to sitting at the Chef's Counter is in watching the cooking and the interaction with the professional and casual servers presenters. Plates were always presented in coordination to your party, usually couples, and explained in full with servers also able to answer questions. Silverware, chopsticks, plates, constantly changed in and out and napkins folded if you leave the counter. Crumbs also removed...I was the only lefty that night and the staff noticed after the first course with all utensils subsequently set up for a lefty. Observant! As for the food, all of the items were very well prepared and tasty with out favorites being: - Scallop - Oysters - Wagyu Beef - Duck - Chawanmushi Or just about everything. LOL. Over two hour experience with coordinated seating starting at 6:30pm. A Michelin One Star worthy experience ...

This review is for the countertop experience. We made reservations to celebrate my husband's birthday. We parked at one of the parking spaces right in front, which you pay by the hour through an app. They also have valet parking available, but I don't know how much it is to valet. Our reservation was for 8:30 PM. We arrived a bit early and were told to wait at the front until everyone that booked the countertop experience had arrived which we were ok with. Right after we sat down, one of the servers greeted us and mentioned my husband's birthday celebration and wished him a happy birthday with a sign. It was a 13 course meal of their seasonal menu created by their team. Every dish was thoroughly explained and beautifully presented. The combination of textures, flavors, aromas, and presentation was superb. Every dish was delicious. There's an option to do a wine pairing, but we opted for separate cocktails. My husband had 3 their Negroni and said it was one of the best that he's had. By the end of the 10th or 11th course I was already so full and the waiter was nice enough to offer to box the rest of my dishes to go. Each experience is about $200. The bill came out to about $600 with tip but overall, the experience was one of a kind and well worth it.

Bone in my "Duck Confit" dish in the Seasonal Tasting Menu
    Sabrina P.

I had an overall shockingly negative experience at Maass, having the Seasonal Tasting Menu. In just the first bites alone - I bit into a bone in my duck confit potato pancake dish. Shocked by this, from a Michelin awarded restaurant. And still, my front teeth still hurt. I was not expecting this. Pictured here, the not so small bone in my one-bit duck confit potato pancake dish. I mentioned this to the wait staff right away but was surprised that more of the meal was comped given this happening right at the beginning of the dining experience and after waiting a long period of time. I did not hear any apology from our wait staff but just got extra desserts at the end of our long meal that we did not request. To add to this negative experience, we had an 8PM reservation, arrived on time, and were seated by 8:25PM, and between every single one of our dishes there was an extremely long wait. To the point where we had to continuously check in up until we flagged down for the check. We were not warned upon seating, that it would be a 3-hour dining experience for the Seasonal Tasting Menu (not chef counter). I am disappointed and surprised by this behavior on a 1-Star Michelin restaurant. This is unacceptable and particularly the bone found in my "one bite" duck confit potato appetizer.

    - Was excited to visit maass for it's michelin star but sometimes that works against the restaurant as your expectations go wayyy up - The beef tartare was not bad. Not bad, but not interesting enough to order it again - The japanese souffle pancake and eggs benedict are sizeable portions - Flavor-wise, meh The only thing I enjoyed about the eggs benedict was the thick bacon - I loved that they have outside seating facing the beach, the interior also looks very pretty - Service was really good as well - Unfortunately the food just didn't meet expectations - Plenty of street parking available nearby

Kinda surprised for only 4.0 stars because we had such a phenomenal experience. Everything we had (and we sure did have a lot) was fantastic...except for the entrees. The fish was so salty we couldn't eat it and the steak was just ok. Everything else was so delicious i can't wait to go back and try more and something's again. The hazelnut shaved ice was my fave dessert by far and the oysters were my fave app. Service was fantastic. Didn't feel stuck up and pretentious. Opted out of the pre fixe menu and ordered Ala cart to try all of the staples.

We were disappointed in our experience at Maass. The food was mostly pretty good, but the rest of the experiential elements and service don't justify the price nor accolades. The Good: the food was all good, sometimes even great. I can understand why Maass has a Michelin Star based on the food, plating, and dishes themselves (a few pictures attached of some highlights). A few of our drinks were comped and we had a dish remade, which is a nice gesture. The Bad: pretty much everything else. We arrived at 7:58PM for an 8:00PM reservation and our table wasn't ready. We checked back in at 8:10 but the host/hostess were aloof and weren't able to give any updates. We were finally seated around 8:30. After getting seated and ordering the tasting menu, our food still hadn't arrived by 9:00. We checked in on our first dish and it arrived a few minutes later. From that point, each course seemed unneccesarily delayed with 20-30 minute gaps between dishes, often requiring us to check in on the status. For dishes that are each just a few small bites, this is just too much time between courses. Altogether, the experience took over three hours, and it probably would've spilled into 4+ hours if we hadn't checked in on multiple of our courses and requested the check in the middle of the dessert course. No explanation or apology was offered for the delays, so I'm not sure if this was just an 'off night' or if this is the standard experience. Through our experience we had three groups cycle through the tables next to us, and all audibly make remarks about the slow cadence and oddities of the experience. The bathroom is also a single unit, so there was frequently an awkward line to use the bathroom, which you wouldn't expect at a restaurant like this. Lastly, there was an unsightly 'graveyard' of empty and half-consumed glasses of wine on the bar counter which you see immediately upon entering the restaurant (picture attached). I'm not sure if they had bussers call out that day, but you typically wouldn't see piles of dirty dishes in the main dining areas. This was odd to see. The Ugly: my girlfriend had a surprise bone in her duck confit (picture included). Biting into it unexpectedly caused tooth pain. This should never happen at a restaurant of this caliber.

I was super excited to try this restaurant as they're the only Michelin starred restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale and Broward County. I looked at the menu online today. The Dine out Ft. Lauderdale menu looked great, especially since I love lamb! Tonight the printed dinner menu had no lamb on the Dine Out menu. The menu had Amish chicken. What a disappointment! I asked the water and he said they didnt have lamb today so the chef switched it to chicken. This felt like a bait and switch. I would not have come for the Dine out Ft. Lauderdale menu if I knew it was chicken! I had a pineapple margarita, which was tasty, very smooth. The first course was a really interesting dish, peaches and plums with burrata, lettuce and a peach sauce. I really enjoyed the flavors. The brioche pull aparts were so good, hot out of the oven. Buttery and amazing. The Amish chicken was tender. However, there was one small trumpet mushroom and 4 small cherries on the plate. Nothing to rave about. Not a way to showcase your restaurant. The dessert was excellent, chocolat tart with rum caramel and coconut sorbet. Service was good until the end, the waiter never asked me if I wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. He just brought me the check while I was eating dessert. PS: I checked at 11pm and the menu online has been updated to show the Amish chicken.

No mas, MAASS... I was so excited to go to the Michelin star restaurant. Sadly, i think Michelin needs take their star back. Parking: this place is located in the heart of Fort Lauderdale beach so parking is understandably tricky. Though hard to find, their valet service was very good and priced at $24 with restaurant validation. Drinks: drinks were delicious but highly overpriced. The waitress only showed the specialty cocktail menu and not the regular priced drink menu. That's okay, the cocktails were pretty great. Food: now this was the biggest let down. All meals were very small in portion size and lacking flavor. I don't think they don't have seasonings in the kitchen. The menus descriptions were exciting but the actual food was a let down. We roasted chicken, fish and steak. All were boring and lacking excitement. The best thing they had was the truffle covered gnocchi. Service: service was excellent and professional. We did notice that they had ZERO minority wait staff. That was obvious and disappointing. Atmosphere/vibe: I found the music great. Flashback to top 90's songs. Coincidentally, over half of the crowd was in their 90's. The bar is beautiful. The place is beautifully decorated. Age group: 30's - 90's (or possibly 100+ Bathroom: clean Return: no, not ever

    Amish Chicken

Contemporary fare deceptively plated-- appears small--yet be assured flavors and portions will both delight and satisfy. Similar to other reviews, the experience was worth it. I enjoyed the culinary inventiveness. The playlist was modern, upbeat and an approachable vibe contrary to the traditional stiffness of establishments of this caliber. The server demeanor was top notch, multiple people waited on our party. Truly bon appétit. Its location at the Four Seasons is apropos. Additional note: I was disappointed the lamb and crab rice were not available. While I initially thought the Amish chicken would be dull, comparable to other reviews it was unexpectedly delicious in not only preparation but also the accoutrements of cherries et al excited the palate.

Came here for our anniversary and was absolutely amazed by it! We decided to do the chefs counter and chose the excursion. We did upgrade to the A5 wagyu once we got there and did not regret it. The service was amazing from the moment we walked in and made this experience so memorable. We've been to a few Michelin star restaurants and in our opinion this is by far the best one we have gone to. The food was absolutely delicious and every bite unforgettable. The drinks were refreshing and perfectly mixed. They played great music and made us feel at home while making us feel like we were being pampered. At the end they gifted us dog treats for our dog at home and gave us a menu as a souvenir with a sweet message. The beach is also across the street so you can walk right after or simply admire the view. Definitely recommend coming here, we are 100% coming back

The patio area is much bigger than I anticipated and even has some larger tables for any larger parties. We started off with an appetizer of the peach burrata, which was tasty! I would give it 4/5. We then got wine flights which I thought were such a great value for the price. You get 3 small sized wine glasses for $15 and get to sample three wines! Definitely recommend this 5/5. As entrees, we shared two entrees - the pesto pasta and the gnocchi which at the time was made with a pork type of sauce. Both were very delicious and we really enjoyed the flavors of both. The consistency of the gnocchi's sauce was a bit interesting, as it was all sort of blended together, but the flavor was very good! Would give them each 4/5. We ended the night with tiramisu - delicious and the presentation was very cute. I haven't had very much tiramisu to compare against, but I'll give it 5/5 as I really enjoyed it! As for service, our waitress was very attentive and nice but note that they can get busy on weekend evenings, so expect a little bit of a wait. Overall, I had a great time and enjoyed the food. My favorite part of the night were the ambiance and the wine flights. I hope to come back again soon!
