I was passing through the town of Soledad on a work-related trip and happened to stumble upon this hidden gym after searching for chilaquiles in my Yelp app. Well, Yelp saved the day again! So glad I stopped here, because I think I've found the best chilaquiles so far! I waited for this place to open at around 11am. The outside looks like a house, but when you step inside, it looks pretty neat! A older man came in after I ordered, and was very friendly. Appeared to be a usual customer, so I assume it's where people come when they want a meal close to being home cooked. The food is made to order, and I wanted my food to go. They packed it in a nice box with foil to keep the food very hot! It came with tortilla chips, doused in verde sauce and topped with 2 over easy eggs and a side of refried beans and a side of papas. It was a pretty hefty meal, but I didn't want to stop eating it -- it tasted so good! I will definitely make this my pit stop the next time I am in the area!

This is a small mom and pop shop out in Soledad California. We stopped by on our way from the Bay Area down to SLO and there's plenty of street parking around the restaurant. The restaurant is pretty small, with seating for 3-4 parties of 4 or so and another room that was able to hold our table of 10 pretty easily. The first basket of chips and salsa is complimentary and any additional chips and salsa is $2/round. The chips were very well fried and tasty and the salsa they give with the chips also has a good kick to it. Super nachos: 4/5 very large amount of toppings for the nachos and the size of the dish was massive. Surprisingly came with generous amount of Guac as well Pastor enchilada 4/5: very solid and massive burrito Garlic shrimp 4.5/5: the shrimp smelled so good when it arrived and had bits of garlic. Would def recommend for seafood lovers. Molcajete 3.5/5: large amount of meat and seafood in the molcajete. Some of the meat was fairly salty. Wasn't the biggest fan of the cactus. Pambasos Lengua 3/5: meat inside was not warm a sandwich bread itself also was not too warm. Definitely wish it was served at a warmer temperature. 2 people in the party ordered this and it was just okay Large portion and very reasonable prices. Definitely stop by on the way down to SLO or Pismo beach!

We passed by Soledad a couple months ago on our drive home after a long day and needed a causal dinner place with outdoor seating for our dog. I was so glad we trusted our fellow Yelpers and tried out Cocuyo's. We first settled in at one of the picnic tables with benches at the back, and it was pretty windy. When the nice server lady came out, she led us to a much better table at the front of the restaurant. My veggie quesadilla was the best I ever had! My husband enjoyed his burrito as well. Complimentary chips and salsa were nice. Generous portions, yummy and very reasonably priced, family vibe. We'll be back next time we're in the area.

Unexpected find of legitimate Mexican food. Nice spice levels and very hardy servings. The waitress was very friendly and she was helping the entire restaurant. Very local vibes. Recommend the Molcajete, it's definitely spicy at the bottom but very filling. I was excited to see nopales in the mix. We also enjoyed the tacos de lengua y carnitas. Enchiladas were also very yummy

Stopped at 12 on a Saturday, no other guests there. Be patient, service can be slow. Tried the heuvos rancheros and carnitas burrito. Both solid choices. Hubby also loved that they give you "good napkins" not the crummy thin ones.

We had the Double Molcajete and Quesadillas Mexicanas, and it was a great dining experience! The Molcajete was beautifully presented. The combination of steak, chicken, chorizo, fresh Mexican cheese, cactus, grilled onions, and peppers created a rich and flavorful dish. It was my first time trying cactus, and I was surprised by its slightly sour taste! The meatball-like chorizo was a highlight, packed with unique spices I've never had before. The chicken was impressively tender and juicy. The other meats were ok. The Quesadillas Mexicanas were satisfying, and the rice and beans stood out as some of my favorites. Their chips were also a pleasant surprise, it's light and crispy!

Found this little gem when planning our trip to Paso Robles. Was a good place to stop for lunch with our pooch. Big outdoor patio! I had the fish tacos and hubby had the enchiladas. Delicious! Really great size portions too. Only issue was a bit of a language barrier, and table service outside gave us a pretty long wait due to that. Next time I would just order at the counter instead...which you could do. Would eat here again!

Our doggo enjoyed the waffles and chicken tenders.

We often go on road trips, and every time we pass through Soledad, this place is a must-stop for us. The woman who runs it is always warm, kind, and welcoming. This year, her son helped us--he checked in on us several times to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Over the years, we've tried a variety of items from the menu and have never been disappointed. This time, we ordered waffles and nuggets for our dog, and they were happy to accommodate our request to leave off any sauces. The lady remembered our 2 dogs from previous trips and asked what happened to them too. Very sweet of her to remember.

This is the only restaurant I eat at after hitting the gun range in Soledad. I'm from Monterey or else I'd be here every other day. Super good tacos and even better hand made tortillas. I'm not sure if she's the owner but a woman, I forget her name, is always there to help me with a smile. Very friendly and always makes me feel like I'm coming home to eat. Highly recommend this place. The restaurant itself is small but I always prefer eating outside anywhere I go.

After browsing through the photos, the gorditas immediately caught my eye. They looked too good to pass up, so that's exactly what I ordered. The restaurant is located inside La Placita Mercado, which added to the experience. I even got to put some of my Spanish skills to use while placing my order. It was definitely good practice! For the price, it was an excellent deal. I received two huge gorditas with rice and beans, and everything was delicious. The gorditas were perfectly crispy on the outside, while the fillings were generous and packed with flavor. Overall, this is a fantastic little hidden gem. Great food, generous portions, and excellent value. I'll definitely keep this spot on my radar whenever I'm back in the area!

The free chips and salsa were a good start. Salsa wash fresh and chips were crispy. Al Pastor Torta: 8/10 Bread was fresh and nicely toasted on the outside. The torta was very good except not a 10 because I am used to the style of tortas in OC which are full and mighty. The dipped Torta with chorizo: 8/10 Very filling with good flavors. At the end you basically get a side salad from all the droppings - which I finished off for my bf :) Would come here again if I'm driving by. The food was better than expected for not being familiar with the area!
