For 2 months I sought care for my pet with this business. They postponed visits and the wait time endangered my pet. We were an eight year established patient. Finally a 400.00 visit. The vet was good but the staff tried to obstruct care. The staff refused to submit a prescribed special diet to an independent retailer, forcing us to only buy from their office. When the oral treatment began failing and my pet struggled to breathe, they were called. We left a detailed message with staff including a contact number. Eight days later I receive a text saying they can't reach me, (so suddenly they use the number?) yet no voice messages. We call immediately and were told no the vet isn't available. An hour later a voicemail appears, they miraculously seem to know my number and can now call? The vet has no knowledge of the details previously given. We call again, again we're stonewalled by the staff. We say we're driving over there out of desperation and they begin screaming at us over the phone, full on screaming. They don't like being held accountable. Miraculously within minutes a nasty text from the vet defending their inaction saying they sent texts to a phone number that was obviously not ours and accuses us of blocking their texts.Really? Seems to be working fine now. We're told we violated their code of conduct and abruptly ends our pet's care officially. The staff won't relay messages in a timely manner are non cooperative with prescriptions, behaved inappropriately over the phone, and are unaccountable for the lack of response. The vet doesn't seek any clarification, accuses us of the very behavior the staff enacts toward us when we express our frustration. I ran a successful private practice for 35 years, I know this business inside and out. It's poor business practice and demeaning to treat clients as if you are doing them a favor by seeing or calling them. It is ridiculous to expect clients to elevate the vet and staff over themselves. We are paying big bucks for these services and stonewalling clients is a blatantly arrogant attitude to accommodate, and also demeaning when clients have health concerns of their pets. Clients should never be treated as tho they are doormats to wipe your dirty feet on. The staff and vet are blatantly unprofessional. New vet called and returned our call within an hour - This business is obstructing care and hurts our pets. They are not serviced based but money driven. They post regurgitated computer responses on this review page. If you love your pet don't go here. Read the Yelp reviews about this business, they are terrible and provide details of the same arrogant issues. Spare yourself a terrible experience that could cost the life of your pet. read more

These guys truly suck!! I live right near them and I would like to use their services since they are close but they told me they would not see a new animal because the Covid-19. "If we have not seen your animal in the last 18 months we will not see your animal" What about new animal I ask?? Sorry we are not taking new animals They are just the worst, go to Bayview in Farmington they are expensive but have a heart for new animals. Over the years we have been to a number of veterinary offices and I have taken our pets to some ok clinics as well as some not even close to ok clinics. I think due to my years of vet experiences I have a very clear idea of what you want to expect from a good vet. With our first pup we went to a clinic that is in Clearfield and I loved them and just as important my dog loved them. There are a couple of reasons why we switched with one being distance and the second issue may sound petty but it always smelled like cat pee. So now here we are with this new puppy and want to have a good experience for both us and our pets. I first Teddy to an office in Kaysville and I was less than thrilled. Then after asking around I heard about Fairfield Clinic. We were off to a great start when the woman on the phone was patient was able to get me an appointment within a couple of days. As soon as I walked in I noticed the complete lack of cat pee lingering in the air. The staff was sweet and quick to help me get started with my patient info. The nurses are all sweet with me but much more importantly they treat Teddy as if he is the dog they have been waiting for all their lives. I'm sure his feeling special is what made him come back just as excited to be there as the time before. After genuinely talking with me the nurse introduced the doctor. Rather than me needing to pull information out of her she clearly explained the diagnosis she went into great detail about our treatment options. All the while being positive. The first vet clinic I had taken him too I felt like I was constantly trying to pull answers out and for as much as had to pay I don't think at that I ever actually was seen by or spoken to by an actual vet. At Fairfield the office is clean and I strongly feel confident in giving a full and 100% honest review and I know that this is the veterinary I will be coming to for the treatment of my beloved pets for many years to come. read more

Over the years, I have taken 3 cats and 2 dogs to this facility. I have full confidence in the Dr.'s that practice here. Upon purchasing one of our dogs, it was recommended that we go to another facility since that doc had already been treated there and was cheaper than Fairfield. So we went to the other facility and got some routine vaccinations done. Within an hour or so, my pup wasn't doing well at all. We took them back to the vet and they did some tests and they all came back negative. The vet ruled that my puppy had brain damage and should be put down. I wasn't satisfied with this answer. After taking with my trusted vet at Fairfield, he said that he was simply hypoglycemic and that all he needed was some sugar water or honey. My toy poodle has been great ever since and I will never trust another vet like I trust the Dr's at Fairfield. My pets are always happy and healthy and the staff gets me in and out in a timely manner. (I have moved 20 min away and still drive to take my pets here) read more

Ok, this review is for ONE PARTICULAR doctor at this place. Dr. Richards or Richardson- I can't remember. The other vets here do a very nice job and we have enjoyed going to them. This was the first time that we have had this vet. NEVER in my life have I been so shocked at how my pet was handled. I have a dog that has needed a muzzle in the past. This hasn't usually been a big deal. Obviously, he doesn't like it, but the vet or assistants have always been very good about gently getting it on him. My dog will usually even let me put it on him without trouble. I am not exaggerating when after Dr. Richards(on) or whatever his name is, tried to get the muzzle on the first time and was unsuccessful, he the TACKLED my 26 lb Cocker Spaniel down onto the table to get it on. Now, not only did this shock me, but it concerned me as my dog has BACK TROUBLE!!! THEN, after the dog had the muzzle on and was NO THREAT to anyone, the doctor continued to be rough with him. He pulled on his ears instead of lifting them, and tossed the dog around. He would not give the dog a chance to calm down for just a second before he tried to examine him. So, my dog literally flipped around on the table while PEEING everywhere because he was so scared. When I mentioned to the doctor that I had NEVER seen him so upset at the vet, his reply to me was "It says on his chart that he has needed a muzzle in the past. This is just him being a little twit" WHAT!?! Yes, he HAS needed it in the past, but he has NEVER freaked out like that. "In the past," he has calmed down as soon as the muzzle was put on. I was so shocked to have a doctor NOT listen to the owner of the dog and presume that HE (whom had never even MET the dog until this day) knew more about his personality than I did. I suggest that "in the future" your vets heed the council of the pet owners. When someone says that their pet is very nervous and shows concern... LISTEN TO THEM! I know my dog. All he needed was a minute to calm down. I have liked this hospital in the past, but I am so glad to be moving. I am currently in the process of reporting this incident to the Humane Society as well. If I notice any problems with his back in the next few days, rest assured, I will be suing the hospital for trauma and care compensation. 1- NEVER forcefully tackle a dog down. 2- When an owner expresses concerns, don't presume to know more than they do about their pet. 3- When an owner suggests that we let him calm down. Let go of the damn dog and give it a rest. Don't continue to "wrestle" with the dog to his fear and possible detriment. 4- Obviously, when a dog snaps at someone, the dog deserves a muzzle- for the safety of the people trying to help. Let's consider the dogs safety as well. This vet also told me that the growths that my dog had needed to be removed and biopsied. He might be right, but ANOTHER vet FROM THE SAME PLACE told me just about a year ago, that those were normal in Cocker Spaniels and that he would be ok, just to watch them for changes. Who do I believe??? Then, this doctor tried to tell me that I needed to schedule a dental cleaning. Maybe I do. BUT, the other vets have always told me that my dogs teeth look really good! So.. again... who do I believe. I agree with how everything was handled up until the vet wrestled the dog to get the muzzle on. Even if I let THAT slide, it was uncalled for to continue to wrestle with him past that. The treat of biting was gone. The vet had the time to give the dog a break for a second, then continue the exam- as was suggested!! read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. How is this business even running with THE MOST TERRIBLE PR and management I have ever seen in my life! They denied me service for my dog for writing them a bad review a year ago about having terrible customer service and for overcharging me and then defending it. The truth hurts doesn't it? What happened to forgive and forget, move on, water under the bridge, whatever you want to call it? They treated me poorly and I had let it go and decided to go back for the convenience (being down the road) and honestly I was over the issue I had with them a year ago and was willing to give them another shot. You'd think they would want to learn from their bad behavior and try to make it right with their customers, but that is not the case with this vet. In the most condescending way, they literally told me over the phone because of my bad review they did not want to treat my dog. They said they were uncomfortable having me come in and denied me service. Wow! I am completely flabbergasted! I cannot believe a business would treat someone the way they have over and over again. It's truly appalling. There are so many 1 star reviews on google with people having similar complaints. Not to mention my sister in law who had a bad experience with the staff treating her poorly. I took my elderly dog here who was dying and had him put down. They charged me more for not having the money to pay for it up front. I have been to another animal hospital Mountain West in Layton. The difference between the two has been that Mountain West was much more caring. Their care is not based on weather or not you have a lot of money up front. They love the animals and are kind to the people too. Very careful very thorough and don't normally do payment plans but made one for me that worked. read more

This review is specifically for Dr. Summers. She is fantastic. When I moved to UT and my dog began having unidentifiable problems, she was so compassionate and determined to help me find an answer even if she didn't have the answers for me. After all, that's what medicine is about. She referred me to Advanced Veterinary Care* (do not go here if you have the option!) for a CT, which turned into a surgery with complications that ended in my dog's death. Once Dr. Summer's received an update about my dog's death, she left me the most heartfelt voicemail that offered such genuine condolences. I couldn't call her back because I was emotionally destroyed at that point, but the fact that she called and told me that I can call her to talk about my dog's circumstance anytime was so appreciated and still is. I would recommend her in a heartbeat, but I cannot speak for any of the other vets. She is one of the better vets out there. *Any recommendation made to Advanced Veterinary Care - please carefully consider a decision to go there. My dog started having seizures, and I worried they would be closed due to COVID-19, but to my relief, they were open and taking every precaution to ensure the safety of the pet, owners, and staff. I followed Dr Summers to Fairfield from Farmington because she's a Great vet. She genuinely cares for animals, as well as understanding the financial difficulties vet care can cause. She gave me all the possible options in treatment- What tests we should do, what we could do without or wait for, as well as the available medications. She calls to check up- not just give test results- and is great about returning calls and answering questions. I have recommend Dr Summers to all my family that have pets. read more

This is completely unacceptable! After removing a cast from my 5 month old kitten, who I could hear crying from the other room, it looked like the adhesive they used took her skin off with it. The vet simply said that "she had a reaction to the adhesive". Not only that but the vet had the nerve to complain that she struggled during the removal, saying she really needed to be sedated to do anything with her. She had to be in a lot of pain, of course she struggled. It was so caked in dry blood and gunk that I can't believe no one even made any effort to clean it off at all. After having her practically dumped in my lap as I was being pushed out the door they said if it doesn't look better in a week come back and we'll see what we can do.. The nerve! If it gets infected or doesn't get better I'd never take her back there, my little kitty will be seeing a different vet. One that cares more about my cat and less about how much money they can squeeze out of me. I will never ever bring her back to this vet. Over priced, rude and poor care for my pet. read more

We've been taking our Doberman here for about 2 years. They have always done a good job and been friendly about it. The facility is clean and the Vet's seem to know what they are talking about. Our dog has been neutered, had his teeth cleaned (while asleep), and had his nails cauterized. He has been diagnosed with Hyper-thyroid ism and been put on a thyroid medication. He's had all his normal shots from this vet. They have done a great job with all of this. Their prices are average for a Vet. read more

We took our first dog to Fairfield for 11 out of her 14 years and they gave her superior treatment and I believe helped extend her time with us. When it came time to make the hard decision to put her to sleep the Fairfield team, Dr. Cook in particular, were very supportive and comforting and gave us all the information and options we needed to make a very hard decision. We have been taking our new dog to them as well and again we have received extremely good care from the staff both receptionist and doctors alike. read more

Every time we have been to this vet the service has been very impersonal. The doctor takes a look at our dogs for 30 seconds and his answer for everything is pricey medications. A couple of times I've been unable to make an appointment that the husband scheduled, and the receptionists have never offered to reschedule, but have abruptly ended the phone calls. One of our dogs has never been to another vet and is VERY old and in need of some care, but I'll be finding her a vet who will treat her with some dignity. read more

I've never had a problem with this pet hospital. I've always taken my cat here and have only avoided one doctor (who doesn't work there anymore) because he treated cats terribly. Dr Whitby and his staff are great. Our lab recently had to have surgery to remove an abcess. The surgery ended being much more intense than what the dr originally thought it would be. They still honored the original price quote even though it should have been hundreds more. I feel Dr. Whitby went above and beyond to take care of my dog and I really appreciated that. I would give negative stars if possible. They took X-rays of my dog (I did not take her here) and completely missed the fact that she had a broken leg. Once I saw the X-rays days later myself I could pick the fractures out, it was clear as day. The orthopedic vet I took her to where I live (Salt Lake) was shocked that it was missed. We have been taking our dogs here for 9 years. When we first started coming, the staff were always helpful and kind, the vets were thorough and would listen to our questions or patient to explain things over, when I didn't understand. The last 2 years, I have left each appointment feeling rushed, 100% nickel and dimed for ANYTHING, and the feeling that they didn't know what was going on with my dogs. Once I was explaining that my lab was in pain and would cry when she would try to get up, the vet laughed at me and said "dogs are incapable of crying" and rushed me out of the appointment. I've heard the most purposterous reasons that they "think" was causing my dog pain. I clearly had a video of my dog trying to get up and walk and she basically just shrugged and said "give her fish oil". Finally today, I have just decided it is not worth leaving this facility every time feeling like a dumb ass and taken advantage of and over charging me. There is not one vet I trust at this point. Today I over heard the tech mocking me when letting the vet know, that I would like to speak with her regarding her diagnosis about my dogs ears. She made me sound angry and that I demanded to speak with her. When in reality I did no such thing. What I should have done is opened the door and let them know I could hear them discussing me. After the vet came back in and tried to tell me it was an ear infection and that she had cleaned the right ear, when in reality she had cleaned the left ear even though there was no infection, then had documented the wrong ear in the records and basically shrugged her shoulders at why my dogs ears were drying up at the tips. She gave some crazy diagnosis besides the ear infection diagnosis but she didn't seem confident or even really sure what she was saying. I said that she doesn't shake her head, it doesn't bother her, but something is clearly wrong. She said "put lotion on her ears." What?? So I left and paid for ear infection meds, that my dog doesn't even need. Listen, I love my dogs and have never flinched at the expense of making sure they are healthy but it's too much at this point with their poor service and inability to help. I can't rationalize continuing to pay this facility as much as I do and never feel like the service is what it once was or what my dogs need. I would not refer anyone to this clinic. read more

Wish I could give a negative review, absolutely horrible customer relations, we had been taking our Miniture Shnauzer there for 7 1/2 years, we called them in an emergency because he was limp and wouldn't move, they told us to bring him in, while on the way they called us back to tell us that their Vetrinarians were leaving in 45 minutes and they wouldn't be able to see him tonight, we ended up having to take him to another Vet just to try and attempt to save his life, During an earlier visit with them we didn't have much money and went in for a consultation to get their opinion on what we should do, during the visit the Vetrinarian only tried to get us to do more expensive tests, flat out telling us that he could die if we didn't let them do tests to diagnose, Absolutely terrible customer service, DO NOT TAKE AN ANIMAL HERE! They care more about the money and going home than they do for the animals. read more

Today she had an eye infection and was not acting normal so I called to see if she could be seen. The staff worked to fit her into their schedule then Dr Allen was very kind and thorough in his examination, explanation and treatment. We've been taking our cocker spaniel here for 3 years as well as our yorkie puppy since we got her about 6 months ago. Our spaniel has been spade, has had some nail injuries treated & regular check-ups/immunizations at the hospital. Our yorkie has had her regular check-ups/immunizations as well as an emergency when she got into some medication. We have felt positive about the outcome of all visits. We switched to Fairfield Vet Hospital after I accompanied a friend here with her dog. The staff is super friendly & greet everyone as they walk in, especially the animals. They are very compassionate & knowledgeable & I trust the doctors like no other. We seem to get Dr. Cook a lot & I would say he is our favorite even though we like them all. The office waiting area & exam rooms are very clean. We actually moved & still drive quite a bit out of our way to take our dogs to this particular place. I highly recommend them! read more

I took our 4 month old toy poodle puppy in for his first check up. The vet had nothing but negative things to say about our new puppy. His bedside manner with our puppy was inpatient and curt. I was told that our new puppy was the worst puppy he had seen in his entire career. He failed to take the time for our new puppy to adapt to this strange new environment. Within the first minute of our appointment he had put a muzzle on our puppy and kept telling me that I had better get him into socialization classes. The entire appointment took less than 5 minutes, with the majority of it being told how awful our puppy is. The vet didn't answer our question about why our puppy tends to throw up and dry heave. In fact, he acted like we were crazy for just bringing him in for a checkup. We left this facility with the impression that this vet hates dogs. I don't know if he was having a bad day and took it out on our puppy, but I will never go back to find out. Our puppy is so sweet and loving. He always greets us at the door when we come home, the worst habit he has is he licks too much. read more

I've been going to this clinic for seven years. I took my 10 month old pitbull mix to this clinic after her and my 2 year old boxer were in a dog fight the night before, we seen doctor Eric Krasa. The first thing he said when he entered the room was "Is that a pitbull?" My dog was perfectly kind to everyone in the clinic but when he entered the room my dog backed up against the wall, the hair an her back stood up and she growled (which is out of her character). The vet had a musle put on my dog and informed me for 45 minutes in the presence of my 11 year old son and 5 year old daughter that my dog was aggressive and needed to be taken to the shelter to be put down. He went over and over the liability and home owners insurance coverage needed to keep an aggressive pitbull. He stated that puppy classes were no use for this type of dog and giving her to a family that didn't have another female dog would only be pawning my problem off on someone else. He said that my dog would need to be sedated in order for him to clean her wounds because he wasn't going to risk being bitten. I left my dog at the clinic to have her wounds cleaned for about an hour and a half. Upon returning they were reluctant to bring out my dog the vet came in and discussed that she would need an antibiotic twice a day. (That's all he said.) When the tech finally brought my dog in the room she was crying uncontrollably and urinating all over herself and the floor. He had cut what had been a small tooth puncture wound into a huge gash about a 1/2 of an inch around and at least a quarter inch deep on the top of my dogs nose without telling be before or after he had done it and also never offered any pain medication for the now huge wound on the top of her snout or offered any advice on how to keep the huge open wound clean. I am astounded and apauled with the unprofessionalism and nerve of any veterinarian that would lecture an adult pet owner infront of their two small children on not paying for medical care to treat their injured family member but to rather spend that money on having the dog euthenized. I'm also very upset that he cut a huge hole in my dogs face without telling me first. I believe that my dog was neglected and hurt while supposedly having her wounds cleaned all because of the type of breed she is. also after our terrible visit I read the google reviews for this clinic and seen that another pitbull had been mistreated at this clinic by the same doctor. I'll never return. and doctor Eric Krasa shouldn't be employed under a title that is associated with helping animals. read more
