The cod is excellent--cooked while you wait (doesn't take long)--and it's fresh and crisp on the outside. The chips are great too--crisp on the outside, soft and tender inside. The only thing I can suggest is more malt vinegar--say bottles on the countertop like you find in England. But service and food are verrrrry good. read more

Ordered the poutine. Chips were perfect, a good traditional chip. Gravy was good but could have been a tad hotter. Cheese curds chunks were too big and too cold. They never had a chance to melt and get soft with the gravy. There were no knives to cut them up so I had to tear them apart with the fork and my fingers. If the dish had been built better with smaller chucks of curds would have been great. I'll be back to try the fish. read more

Came here with two others for lunch. The place is in a somewhat unkempt part of town, but plenty of parking. The inside is pretty small, and doesn't offer any seating. There's a few tables outside, so just know you may have to eat in the car or outside. Their employees were very friendly, told us about the options of fish, and other items on the menu. Very helpful and courteous. We ordered two of the cod, and one Haddock. I actually preferred the cod, even though the haddock is a couple bucks more. It's a little pricey, about $20/person, so just be aware. I saw two different people pull up and leave, presumably they didn't like the price on the window. The piece of fish you do get is pretty large, and they give you a good amount of chips. The fish was great, nice crisp batter on the outside, moist and flaky on the inside. The chips (fries) were fresh, but the fish was definitely the standout. They make their own tartar sauce, and apparently their curry, which we ordered based on others' recommendations. Overall it was good, we'll definitely stop by when we're on the area and in the mood for more fish n chips. I heard some people complaining that the fish was bland, but that's not really the case. I think they expect you to dip it in the tartar, etc, so I'd imagine eating it plain may not be great. If you don't want the sauce or anything, I suppose some salt/pepper may be needed. We came in just before it opened for a Saturday lunch. The place is clean and simple. From the door, you walk to the cashier (about 2 paces) and order. Menu is posted behind the cashier and cooled drinks are laid out to the right side. After you order, you either wait inside until your number is called or you can wait outside where there are tables and chairs. They cook your food after you order so you get it piping hot. The fish and chips come with tartar sauce but you can order sides with it. I would recommend the fish and chips particularly the Atlantic cod and the haddock. The fish is moist and flaky with a light batter that comes out slightly crispy. The chips are alright, nothing spectacular, but they go with the unlimited malt vinegar that's available at the counter. For the sides, we tried the mushy peas which tasted like lentils or mung beans. The curry sauce is also good with either the fish or chips. The same can be said about the tartar sauce. The fish and chips were placed on paper takeout containers while the hot mushy peas and curry sauce were on styrofoam cups. They offer compostable forks for the peas. Service was great. The staff were very courteous and helpful. So, all in all, if you want no-nonsense fish and chips, try Codswallop. It's pretty good. read more

Incredible food, passionate staff, great location! We have had our eyes on Codswallop for a while, awaiting their official opening and today was the day. The service was fast even with a small line, the staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and the prices were fair. The environment is very family friendly & a great place for the whole family to come enjoy the sunshine & a good meal. We ordered the fish and chips, cod and haddock meals. The cod with chips is $17 and the haddock with chips is $19. We also got a side of the curry sauce for $4. Tartar sauce comes with your order of fish and chips. Both options were incredible & we finished eating them in a matter of minutes. We carried out & headed to WestFax for $2 off our first pint! They are running the promotion until June 22nd, so make sure to stop at both! The location is ideal, directly on Colorado Ave and just a quick stop off of Cimarron/24 via the 31st street exit. It is the perfect hearty comfort food to enjoy after a day of hiking in Garden of the Gods or wandering around OCC. Yum Yum Yum! I ordered the Cod fish and chips and it was so fresh and the batter was perfectly crunchy and light and just exactly what Fish and Chips is supposed to taste like. I also ordered the Potain and it was delicious as well. Try the curry sauce, I love curry and this was some of the best curry I have ever had! I like to dip my FF in the curry, I had enough sauce left over that the next day I made some chicken curry. I have a Cabin in Green Mountain Falls so I don't live in this area full time, But this place could actually convince me to pack up and move there full time, I'm already craving another trip back! Great fish and chips too. I have a suggestion though. You need a better way to give ketchup to the people eating in. Handing someone a couple of packets of ketchup does not cut it. Maybe have a pump dispenser with little cups or even let the customer pump into the fries. Also, you need a better way of salting the fish and chips - those big pieces of salt do not work - maybe have some little packets we can pick up ourselves. You guys seemed very busy when we were in at 2:00 and it was frustrating asking for more ketchup and not feeling like there was a way to get more salt.
