Finally, a place at Ivywild with great food! Been here on multiple occasions only to be let down by the food selection up until last week. Enter Ivywild Kitchen. With an assortment of burgers, fries, pretzels and sandwiches, there is something that is bound to satisfy your tastebuds. I went with an odd combination of the hot chicken sandwich and a side of green chili. Don't ask...If anything it was the winds of Mother Nature that led me to the selection. The hot chicken sandwich was amazing with every bite. Temperature hot, Nashville spicy and the pickles balanced out everything. On the side, the green chili was on the spicier side but damn was it delicious! I'd be back for the same combination! Ivy wild was really cool! It's a food hall that was created in an old school building. The names of the restaurants were like 'the principals office' etc lol. There was a gym, and it was really unique. We didn't have any food, we just got drinks. The only thing that I wished was different was more people there. But we were there at 4:30 pm on a Monday. This place is located inside the ivy school toward the end of the hallway by the stairs. They have their menu posted as a QR code, but I was tempted by the food people were picking up. I went with the spicy chef Ken sandwich and jalapeño macaroni and cheese. Their Mac and cheese and loaded fries seem to be the most popular. The food was excellent. I would definitely eat here again. Such a fun reuse of space - an elementary school turned food hall. Bristol brewing has a wide selection of craft beers. I went with the nitro, which is a dark beer like Guinness. They offer 12 ounce pours, which is nice when you want a smaller serving. there is a healthier eatery that serves salads and sandwiches. The homemade Greek dressing was delicious. The sandwiches are large in size but mostly large bread - Id ask for double meat next time. read more

Nasty bowl of vomit - that was the "Tomato Basel" soup. The grilled cheese was on cheap white bread and tasted like it was pre-made. Three people at our table left hungry, since the quality of their food was so bad. On the flip side, the sweet potato fries, mushroom burger, and chicken fingers were all good. This was a bust. I got the Mediterranean salad. They forgot to give me dressing and when I went back for it, it tasted of too much vinegar. The salad was 60% greens at least. 1 domalthes, 2 artichoke pieces, tomatoes (probably the best part of the salad, and green olives. I'm usually a big fan of olives but the tomatoes were better. The service was fast. When paying the bill the server gave me the tablet and said something like, look at this. All kinds of options for tips. I felt coerced into tipping and he basically just reached into a cooler for my meal. Eating at Hillside Gardens is always a treat, but I'll never eat Salad or Bust again. read more

Perfect flavors combined to finish the meal! Jeremy at the counter was friendly, proficient and personable. The counter style ordering makes it casual and fun. So my wife and I are new to CO Springs and getting to know the area. While researching fun places to eat this popped up! It was a neat experience to have lunch in an old school, and we enjoyed the food and service. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries which I give a 4/5. The potato bun was just a little much but the filet and the fries were very good. My wife got the barbecue chicken pizza which was pretty good! Their pizza style is Detroit style, so think deeper dish. Also 4/5. They messed up her order so they ended up giving her a whole pizza (pictured) instead of half and gave her an order of garlic bread (3/5). Very generous of them to do. The food is a little overpriced, but honestly, worth it for such a neat experience! Be sure to stop into the gift shop while you wait for food! Such a fun little store. read more

The food came out in a reasonable time and we enjoyed our meals. My daughter had the kid cheeseburger and fries: she even ate all of it. I had the spicy chicken sandwich with a side of mac. The mac was great, very dense, and had a lot of cheese and breadcrumbs (more than just mac). The breading on the chicken sandwich was really good and it soaked up the sauce well. I would have liked it spicier myself, but it worked out well. read more

Salad or Bust at Ivywild School was exactly what I needed after a hot day. I went for the Salmon Zing, and it was great! The lemon vinaigrette was delicious I just wish it came with more. The salad came with 3 pieces of pickled green beans not pictured because I literally ate them right up before I remembered to take the photo. I opted out for capers and tomatoes which was nice that I could make changes, and I would definitely order it again. read more

Such a cool atmosphere and setting. We are traveling through COS and staying close to the Ivywild Schoolhouse. Kids had chicken strips, fruit. We went for burgers and fries, tortilla soup. Tortilla Soup and Pretzel off the appetizer menu were excellent. I mean really good! Axe and Oak Burger was about on par with a good burger from Wendy's with a sweet whisky sauce ($15). The Monte Cristo burger was amazing, I couldn't do the full dive with the powdered sugar, but the sweet and savory combination of jam and beef/ham was too delicious. Monte Cristo sandwiches are my fave, so this take on the sandwich in burger form did not disappoint. Grabbed two burgers today with onion rings, food was ready within 10 mins. The burgers looked ok - the loom was worth the money but the taste was meh. Both burgers were bland and boring and would not warrant another visit. The onions rings were a lump or mess and looked horrible and tasted worse, every bite was a mouth full of grease. We'll come back to the Ivy Wild School establishment / maybe for coffee or to bring another meal and eat on the beautiful lawn area, but not to The Kitchen. Very cool place. A friend recommended so we stopped by after visiting Pikes Peak. I absolutely love that the two restaurants that share the school space have kept the school's original theme. There's even a Principal's office. Old School Bakery seemed to have a nice selection of breakfast muffins and deserts, as well as sandwiches and burgers. Nothing about this place seems conventional or "national". Its a one of a kind type spot, with fantastic atmosphere. Not to mention, it definitely brings you back to your childhood and is worth checking out. A Must see while here: visit the restrooms, they are awesome! read more

This place is a really cool concept and has a very neat theme to it. It's set in an old school and most of the original equipment is still there. Multiple restaurants at this location but I'm reviewing Ivywild kitchen as this is where we ate. Great burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches and you have to have their pretzels! Compared to the other reviews, we had a really good experience here. Cool place to see and walk around, settled in the Bristol Brewing area. We each had a flight of beers which were all very different which gave good variety. The pretzels and wonton dippers...wow, some of the best apps we have had. The pretzels were so soft, not leathery and hard on the outside like most, and a great beer cheese to dip in. The wonton dippers were great with the sauce provided. The axe and oak burger was just a burger, nothing to write home about, and the fries were extremely salty, which normally I wouldn't complain about but just too much this time. Would go back for apps and drinks, great environment! read more

What a great little find. I am sure locals know about this place. A school built in 1916 turned into a market, brilliant. As with all of Colorado so far the staff is super friendly. I had the adult grilled cheese. Delicious. I am not usually a fan of too much on a sandwich but they did it right. I got the axe and oak burger, and it was pretty pricey and a rather small patty. I was very disappointed, especially for the price. The staff was nice, but seemed a little annoyed when I asked for ketchup for my fries. The wait was fairly long as well. Checked out the Ivywild kitchen and this is what I think...food is good but over priced.The menu included sandwiches, salads and soups. They also have a brunch menu that stops at 11am and pastries/desserts.There sandwiches ranged from 11 to 16 dollars. I went with the Korean BBQ burger that was 15 dollars. I also had the lavender rose lemonade that was 3 dollars. The burger was solid and the fries were pretty crispy. The lemonade was okay.The environment was nice. I really liked the patio seating. The portions were average and I expected larger sides and more options. It's a deli style restaurant so you order at the counter and will have to grab your silverware. Guessing all the hipsters here have been the ones giving this place multiple stars...it's a hipster heaven with the atmosphere and all, but really not very good. This place has a bad setup to start with. Walked in, walked around until asking someone working; you order, pay, take a number to your table and they bring your food when it's done. A sign, or some indication that this is not a sit down with wait staff type place would be great. So, ordered food and 2 coffees. Only enough brew for one cup, so we sit to wait on the second cup and our food. No waters, no napkins, no anything....including that coffee that was already paid for. Not sure about you, but on a weekend morning when out for breakfast, I like to have a few cups of coffee, especially one while waiting for my food. Here, you'll pay over $2 for a coffee and maybe it get, maybe you don't unless you harass the person working. We wound up having to go back and ask for it, and the guy didn't recall even selling it to us (not super busy, and it had been 10 mins or less). Super. Food comes; doesn't look great. I ordered the Italian Benedict. Just the benny, no potatoes or anything with it, $11. Still no napkins or silverware anywhere in sight, so I ask the guy for that; about three mins later we had something to actually eat our food with. Now, the food. It looked like two big pieces of bread drowning in hollandaise, which took me by surprise since you typically get just enough hollandaise, not an overflowing amount. The eggs were nicely 'steamed' but that didn't save this. The first bite was cold. I honestly think the hollandaise had been sitting around for awhile; it looked thick and odd colored, and pretty sure it was the cold that I bit into. Not even sure it was made from scratch...reminded me of the packaged hollandaise you make with milk...gross. He ordered the classic Benny, and it was just as sad. We also ordered a side of bacon; 4 pieces of some of the slimmest bacon I've ever seen, $3. I was seriously disappointed in this place. After reading reviews and the menu, I was excited to check it out. Unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations and I don't see myself ever going back; I'll stick with Over Easy where the food and service are always great. read more

Eww! I found a dog hair in my bowl of soup!! Sooo f*%#$ nasty! Y'all need to give dogs some hairnets or keep them as far away from the kitchen as possible. Super fun place to go for drinks and light menu. Parking sucks!!!! Had the Peach Almond salad with added chicken. It had good flavor. Lemonade was very good!! If you sit inside the Kitchen dining room area then be prepared to shout at each other. We had used the back room for a meeting and holy wow was it loud!! Too loud!! We couldn't hear the lady running the meeting :( The back room could use some barn doors to make it a bit more private AND sound baffles in the ceiling would help. Even talking with the person next to me was a shouting match. So frustrating and we wrapped up early because of how uncomfortable the noise level was. Definitely not booking it for an event again. NOT conducive to meetings. read more
