Absolutely the worst service ever!!! We came to celebrate Mother's Day and wanted to enjoy a nice dinner. Let me say that even though it was Mother's Day the restaurant was not full what so ever. Our waitress came to take our order and after that we never saw her again. No wait we did see her but that was about 20 minutes after we got our food and after another waitress refilled our drinks. But at the end of our meal the waitress was quick to charge us for our meals. I have never felt so discriminated against at any restaurant here in the villages. read more

Ordered a Jai Alai IPA by Cigar City Brewing. The beer was very cloudy and this is always served a clear copper color beer. The tap lines were clearly dirty and not only clouded the beer but delivered the musty syrupy hop flavor from the yeast and calcium in the tap lines due to unclean tap lines. Its a shame to serve such a good beer only to have it ruined by dirty tap lines. read more

Last night we had a dinner here, the atmosphere is casual with peanuts in buckets. We dined during Happy Hour (11 AM - 7 PM) and all the drinks are 2 for 1, which they bring at the same time. This is during spring break and the place was busy, we had a 20 minute wait for our table, you can stroll outside to look at the picturesque Lake Sumter. The portions are huge, each entree comes with a communal salad bowl your table. The cinnamon almond butter for the rolls is very tasty. We shared the 1/2 chicken ribs pulled pork platter and still had leftovers. The meals also come with cole slaw and baked beans. The succulent chicken was cooked very well, the ribs were good, the pulled pork was not good. Service was spot on, despite being slammed, our waitress was attentive. We've always been a fan of Cody's until now. Seated 2/27/21. 7:15 pm. Order placed for drinks at 7:20. Table was ignored until 7:40 pm. Meanwhile all other tables were being served in a reasonable amount of time. We waited yet another 10 min for drinks. No salad, no water, waitress said sorry when she later reappeared. Finally came the Drinks. Frozen Margarita was mostly melted. Beer arrived warm. "Sorry" I stopped her on her way past and asked very politely for a replacement drink that was more frozen. Waitress was beside herself. I guess this was an unreasonable request? She went to manager who happened to be close by. It was very uncomfortable and awkward. She came back to our table and said Mike told her the machine was not serving frozen drinks because they had to make a new batch. Ok, I later asked if they might blend one for me since the machine wasn't ready. Never heard from them again. Food arrived at 8:10 pm. My husband ordered another beer and I dared to asked about the Margarita. The waitress was apoplectic. 2nd beer never arrived either. Paid bill with only 15% tip. We could see that the machine was fully frozen at the bar at that point. Waitress did her best to ignore us the whole time while she waited on the tables directly next to us. She physically bumped into my husband as she attended the other table. She avoided eye contact and and only uttered a short unsympathetic sorry for what? we're not exactly sure. She handed us the bill without any eye contact. We won't be back to this location. I can understand that things run out, but I don't believe we were treated with much regard all evening. Had lunch today with 2 others. It was our 1st time. Mom ordered pork chop it was so big and moist. We ordered the seafood trio special. Very good. The only thing lobster was suppose to be steamed. But it had to be grilled as it was chewy and dry. Can't say enough about bread and sweet butter, salad bowl was huge. Enough for all at table. This was the worst experience our friends and us have ever received at a restaurant. First our waiter brings rolls without butter and walks away. When our food finally gets brought out ( by someone else) we ask her to get us butter and sauces that didn't come out with our food. Our waiter then comes back to ask how everything is and we tell him that there wasn't any butter with the rolls, his reply was oh yea I forgot I dropped it and forgot to grab more. Then after we eat we had to ask for boxes and our bill multiple times. We finally get both and my bill is $28.83 and I pay with a $50 only to ask if I need change. Then my change comes back with no coins( I know it's only .17 but that's not the point). A manager had walked by and we stopped him to talk about some issues and he said he'd check and never showed back up. We stopped to ask the hostess if this how they give change back and she said yes. First of all that's stealing and if you think of how many people that they don't give change back to in a day that's a lot of money. Again it's not about the money it's the principal of it, you don't keep someone's change no matter how much it is. The only thing busy was the wait staff hovering around each other like a Cat Herd chit chatting and not be attentive to patrons. Spoke to the manager and since it's the 2nd horrible experience this definitely will go above him to his boss because this place needs a change in leadership due to this is 100000 % unacceptable not being able to lead a wait staff to be courteous to folks sitting for 20 minutes. James was our waiter and he was on time and attentive. I had the blackened scallops that were plentiful and yummy and my husband had the fried scallops. Cody's at State Road 42 has no Yelp review site, but this is about policy and crowded conditions and I am sure it applies to both sites. My food was thrown away. They instantly bus your table and you cannot run back from the parking lot if you had packed your own To Go container. Every other place I have ever eaten or worked holds them for at least a minute or two. Another problem was no attention from the server for quite a long time, then she barely checked back, then I packed my own to go, but as I said, they threw it away. Bad Policy. read more

Then the entree salad ordered was missing ingredients so I asked for the Missing parts.. it was a 15.00 salad so yes I wanted the other parts... like something other then lettuce ...the waitress took it away and then returned 10 min later the EXACT SAME .. everyone was done eating so I gave up.... it was 3 ounces of meat and just piles of lettuce all for 15 dollars. The wait staff was rude, several of them cut me off walking through the restaurant. I asked our server for water which was never delivered. There was a drink special, two for one. The server brought both drinks at once. Yay, warm beer. Nothing says exceptional service like effort so minimal that the server won't be bothered to make multiple trips for a drink order. I ordered a steak which I was pretty excited about until I cut into it. Ordered medium rare, it was cooked through, brown, and impossible to chew. I didn't even finish it. First off, playing "the card." I am a poor single mother from Indiana, who scraped all my money together to get my girls to Florida. We had been eating PB&J and bologna in the car for days, so when we finally got to Florida, I decided to spend the money and treat my girls to a real dinner. We ordered bacon cheeseburgers, medium. They came rare, with no bacon. Our lovely waitress agreed they were gross and took them back. They returned burnt. Apparently in the kitchen there was no in-between. We couldn't eat the burgers and left them on the table. The manager took fourteen dollars off, but we still paid $28 plus $10 tip (because our waitress was great) for food we didn't eat. How awful to be poor, decide to treat your children, pay money, and leave the restaurant sobbing because no one ate. And then, in response to the sobbing, waitstaff comes outside to make sure you're not drunk driving your children (FYI, we walked, and sobbing doesn't equal drunkenness...for the record). Anyway, don't ever eat here. They make mothers CRY and daughters WORRY. read more

We went to Cody's last night, and I was not impressed. My husband ordered the prime rib, and he said it was delicious, and perfectly cooked. I ordered the grilled Sea Scallops, one of my favorites. They looked very good, but I was a little suspicious when they were all exactly the same size, and consistency. I was also suspicious when they gave me 12 Sea Scallops for $19.99. Usually when you order them, you get about 6 for that price. I am sure they were not real Sea Scallops, but made from some kind of fish. They did not have the delicious sweet flavor that Sea Scallops have, but kind of a bland flavor, and a different texture. I did not send them back, as I probably should have. Now I regret that I didn't, but I won't be going back there any time soon. We have been there many times in the past, and always enjoyed the food, but there are many other restaurants in TV, that don't substitute fake food. read more

On Feb 27Th 2010 my wife and I went here for a meal, We ordered a couple of the 9 oz. filets for our meal. First of all I don't believe they were even filets. We were trying to celebrate our 40th anniversary . The steaks were terrible. I mean they were trhe tougest steaks we've ever had. Not only do we frequently dine at Cody's with large parties, but we also have had several fundraisers for the The Village, Alzheimer Organization. We also have a VIP card. Being a fellow dinner restaurant owner, I feel compelled to share one of the most negative experiences ever. I have always prided myself for having well trained staff and always took full responsibility for their actions. Prior to our movie plans after dinner, my wife and I had ordered wings, which we have enjoyed many times. Tonight, your waitress Marie took our order. When the salad came out, it was missing the green peppers, so we asked Marie to bring us out a few. She said okay and that was it. 20 minutes went by, as we finished our salads, - still no peppers. Next, our wings came out, except my wife had ordered plain grilled, and I ordered the spicy blackened. She gave my wife my same order! after trying to catch her again, (we were the only table in the entire section). When she returned, she offered to grill another dish. My wife being a diabetic couldn't wait another 20 minutes. Instead, she ordered the potato skins. just to have something. We complained to the Manager Carrie, who was not the least bit comforting. By the time the waitress appeared with the check, we were too late for the movie. The check comes and has the potato skins on the check! I said to the waitress that you should at least comp the potato skins, in lieu of our negative experience. She said she couldn't do that. At this point our evening was ruined and I was too upset to finish my meal. When the manager appeared again, I said you should comp the entire bill, because not only did we get the wrong food, but there were too many mistakes. The manager had asked my wife if we were steady customers, my wife said "hell yes" and what does that have to do with anything? The manager said, well you don't have to curse at me! At that point I told the Manager, that now because of your attitude, I'm not paying a cent. She continued ranting that the waitress was going to have to pay the bill out of her pocket. I responded, well the she should pay better attention, but actually, as a manager, the responsibility should be yours for not training your staff properly. With a great location and amazing store front look, we thought that this restaurant would be an instant hit and possible new favorite of ours. First of all, I was warned about going, but ultimately failed to listen. My wife and I are very easy to please, within reason of course. To start, the amount of time to get our drinks (water) was exceptionally long and unnecessary. Next, we were specific in asking for rolls without butter, which then the waitress responded with numerous rude and spiteful comments. Next, after another lengthy period of time, we finally had our food orders taken and more rude remarks about our choices arose. Next, sensing trouble, a manager came around to our table to help "clear the dust." After a good discussion, the manager offered both of us free desserts of our choice. I thought this was a great gesture for our bad experience thus far, except the fact that every dessert had ingredients that we expressed that we cannot consume. So now the manager became quite defensive, even though we were absolutely fine with not taking the free dessert offer. Next, we finally got our entrees and as predicted, wrong sides were plated and needed corrected back in the kitchen, which ensued yet another lengthy wait time. To add, the prices for the types of foods and portions presented were not in good ratio. Shortly after the entrees arrived at our table, another restaurant employee came to us for a visit to check out how things were going. To my surprise, it was the head chef from the kitchen who prepared all of our meal components. Also to my surprise, the chef assured me that each meal component was prepared correctly and appropriately to "our request." So yet again, another testy Cody's employee/worker. There is much more that I am probably forgetting, but I gave this restaurant a fair chance, as I do with each new eatery I go too. I will NOT be going to this location ever again, but will maybe consider going to another location in the future. I believe that everyone deserves a second chance, but this location blew their opportunities to gain business from my family or anyone that I know who would've halfway considered going here. I hate to be so negative, but in reviewing this restaurant in this manner I may prevent someone else from making the same mistakes that I made in trying Cody's out. read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I use to really enjoy this place about a year ago, they actually cared. Now, I can't even believe it. They must of gotten new management or something. The server was "ok" at best but the food was pretty damn bad. First of all, they just couldn't seem to get a simple cheeseburger right, brought it out black and it tasted horrible. The last time we went and the food wasn't to your liking, they would fix it and then take it off your bill. Nope, not anymore. So the manager brought a new burger with the cheese not even slightly melted. At this point we thought whatever fine. Oh, and the fries were mush. The first batch of rolls (which is normally my favorite part) was cold and not even close to fresh. We didn't say anything about that either. It was a Friday evening and the place was very busy but that's no excuse for one bad item after another and for the manager to act like he even didn't even care. A bit later I asked for another "fresh" batch of rolls. Hence FRESH in there? The server goes oh sure, I'll be right back. About 10 minutes later, She brings me half cooked doughy cold shit rolls. The WORST I have ever seen, I couldn't even believe my eyes. There's a difference when you have one thing go wrong and it gets fixed but for one thing after another and for them to not really give a horses ass?
