Eggs, hash, bacon and a scramble.. Toast not shown.

I am LIVING for this tiny, unassuming cafe. Wow! The place is tiny on the outside on a heavily (for Maine) traffic'd road. Plenty of parking and nicely plowed in the winter. The coffee is good and frequently refilled. Everything from the biscuit and breads to the jam is house made. Omg, the rye toast was incredible and so light. Eggs were scrambled beautifully, and the corned beef hash was both crispy and soft, and definitely not a salty mess. It's no wonder the place is always packed during tourist season. If the great food doesn't impress you, the great service will.

Fresh baked muffins and pastries greet you at the door. Service is friendly and attentive. Their speciality is eggs Benedict. You can ask for home fries. I'm not a potato person. He had the regular and added home fries and I had the Irish Benedict served with corned beef hash. The Hollandaise is just right, not salty or too lemony or cheesy. Yes, other places I've reviewed and one had cheese in their hollandaise. Huh? This is a busy place and quaint, but we were seated fairly quickly. The great thing is it is very reasonable compared to many other places. We'll return.

This cafe is what you would want in a local shop. Their bakery items looked very delicious and, should we come back, I'll definitely have to try them. The food itself was simple, but well done. You're coming here for the local ambiance, the solid food, and the great service.

Best breakfast and service around. Best homemade bread and molasses donuts ever. I also recommend their homemade corned beef hash.

Stopped by The Grind House on my way through from Bar Harbor to Boston Logan International…read more I was excited to see an impossible breakfast sandwich on the menu as well as a peanut butter mocha. Seriously, two of my favorite things to see on a coffee house menu. That said the execution was a bit off for me. The Impossible breakfast sandwich was served on an insubstantial bun (the type that is more air than anything) and was overall pretty basic. Their signature sauce mentioned in several dishes, seems to be thousand island or maybe tartar sauce? Either way, it wasn't my favorite. The peanut butter mocha was also a bit of a miss for me. I wasn't a fan of either their chocolate or their espresso (or the peanut butter flavor they used, for that matter). The shop itself is quirky and comfortable. We were able to get a spot by the windows, which was nice and the service was lovely. It would definitely be a good and comfortable spot for working and it could be that had I ordered differently, it may have been more my cup of tea (or coffee, as they case may be). But for what I ordered, it was a bit of a swing and a miss.

Walked in and wow, lots to read on the menu! Which can be good and bad depending on how much time…read moreyou want to spend reading menus. I chose a egg and cheese on a croissant bun and a caramel turtle latte. I came here because it had been highly recommended, but I have to say, I expected more, but depends on what you like, right?? Plenty of seating, centrally located in the city, easy parking, and plenty of coffee concoctions to try out. My coffee was missing the whipped cream, but oh well. The froth for the latte was odd, it deflated super quickly, not sure what happened there. And the sweetness was sweet, but it was missing that caramel turtle flavor I thought I was going to get. For me, this was meh. I expected something more decadent. My egg sandwich was good. Basic. Not a real croissant either. It was a croissant bun of some sort. It seemed, well, basic, or economical. But it was filling and the egg was good. I also have to say that when I departed, I smelled like a convenience store that sells those hotdogs on rollers... I smelled all day, I had to wash my hair to get the smell out. I also have to mention the heavy music that was playing. It was obscene and it was loud. So loud it made it challenging to order and I did eat my meal quickly and leave. It was a Tuesday morning around 9 am. But hey I am getting older so this may not have been a good choice for me.
