Visiting from NYC. This got some pretty good reviews. Its decor is nothing special however It is very clean . We had scrambled eggs home fries and sausage. I had the French toast my husband the blueberries pancakes. The eggs were great. Fluffy not over done not plastered like they're making an omelet which drives me crazy. They had an assortment of pastries. I took off 1 stars because their home fries are literally boiled potatoes that are browned a little on a grill. No onion no peppers no flavor. The staff was very pleasant and attentive . I would definitely return. read more

I don't know why it's taken me so long to get a review on here for this place but figured it was pretty well represented already. Been living in town for a few years before finally stopping by after I read this place was on a top 10 list for Maine. And we'll deserving of such accolades, damn, even to the coffee was good which for me is usually the weakest link in most places like this. We've had several dishes, both breakfast and lunch, with no disappointments. The fresh bread and jams are outstanding, no long wait times once you order, and the ladies hustle to keep moving things along. As usual, more space and tables are all that's missing but that's the mark of most great breakfast diners. This was the best corned beef hash I've ever had. They make it themselves and it was incredible. The bread they make themselves as well and it was awesome, as was the jam which I believe they also make themselves. This is not a very large place and we went on Sunday morning so you may have to wait awhile to get seated, and to get your food after you order it. The ladies that were serving us or working their tails off and very nice. My wife had egg Benedicts and said the sauce was the best she had ever had. I can't recommend this place enough read more

Ate here for the first time on a Sunday morning. It was packed people so my daughter and I sat at the counter. We sat facing the bathroom and the open kitchen was to our left. Despite our close proximity to the servers, we were evidently invisible. The worst service, ever!! Food took FOREVER and all we got was one poached egg, toast, side of bacon and a donut. Donut was hard as a rock and bacon was cold. Since I could see the cook in full view, I saw an enormous pile of cooked bacon sitting off to the side of the grill. He throws it on the plate from this pile. Well, it was probably sitting there since 630 when they opened because it was cold and rubbery. I didn't get a coffee refill and our waitress said 2 words to us the whole time, "you ready?", after only slapping down menus and walking away. Secret - they have crayons and coloring books for the kids if you ask :) I LOVE their food but unfortunately my MIL didn't like their prices but you pay for what you get which is good home cooked food! Can be a wait as only have a few tables as it is a tiny place. Worth the wait in my book! read more

A fixture to the local Hampden community. Small place that is packed most days for breakfast. Service was a bit slow with one waitress for the entire place but it was well worth the wait. Food was excellent. Jam that came with my toast was homemade which was a nice touch and showed attention to detail. read more

Go here!! We came here late on a Sunday morning and waited about 30-45 mins. It's small but not tiny. Cozy is probably the best word. The portions were very generous, the food was delicious & the prices very reasonable. My omelet was super fluffy! The homemade bread & jam were DIVINE!!! We bought some pastries to eat later and those were delicious as well. The ladies working there were all super nice and welcoming. The other patrons were so nice as well. I'm happy to say this place has the best Eggs Benedict in the area. The hollandaise sauce was almost perfect and the eggs were poached just right. Not much ham on the English muffin, but what there was tasted great. The only downside to this meal was the lack of home fries. Every other Eggs Benedict I've ever had throughout the U.S. was served with home fries. Actually, another local restaurant in Bangor, Judy's, doesn't serve home fries with their Eggs Benny either. What's up with that? Regardless, I will happily return to the Coffee Break Cafe to try some of their other dishes. read more

Couldn't hope for more from this sort of establishment; laid back and friendly crowd, never have to ask for refills, and the cook serves up perfect made to order eggs each time. Surprising amount of seating for such a small building. My hubby loves the eggs benedict, I try different things from the menu each time as everything seems to be homemade and delicious!
