Coffee Commissary is one of two coffee shops walking distance from me in Palms, so I've been a few times now. It's a good place to work because there's lots of tables (but I have noticed they play their music REALLY loud, so maybe they don't actually want people working there, I don't know). The coffee is fine, I specifically like their blended drinks; there aren't many places around these days where you can get good blended drinks besides coffee bean. The food I've tried I've really enjoyed, and I've been meaning to try a breakfast burrito at a friend's recommendation. However, the service at this location every time I've been there has been laughably bad. Like has me wondering "what did I do??" Which is not an enjoyable experience. When I've ordered the blended drinks, the baristas have either made a weird comment ("it's really sweet...are you sure?" I know, I like it that way!), and/or scoffed or GLARED at me for ordering it?! Then practically shoved my pastry into my hands. I understand having a bad day, I've worked customer service and sometimes you're just in a bad mood! But something to this extent has happened every single time I've been to this coffee commissary. I'm sorry if you guys don't like making blended drinks or just hate your job, but don't take it out on me I would rather go to little marionette down on motor where the drinks are a bit more expensive but the baristas are all very friendly and I've never felt like the employees hate my guts for ordering a drink on their menu. read more

Probably shouldn't spill the beans on Yelp (pun intended), but this is the #1 neighborhood coffee spot in Palms. Staff is amazingly friendly (extra points for playing great music). The cafe is large with both indoor and outdoor seating. It's a great space for both a coffee with friends/family, working on your laptop, or just reading a book. Plenty of outlets and lots of seating to choose from. They've got great coffee beans (check out some of their co-fermented beans), and service is always fast, even during the morning rush. read more

The "frozen" drinks are meh. They don't have a good consistency like the Starbucks version. If you like Squirt soda try their current seasonal Squirt soda in the can with espresso. The design and seating is very nice here. Free in street parking on Motor is usually available. What I don't like is that prices are not listed, and hot drinks are never hot. If I forget to ask for extra hot it's basically a warm drink. The drink prices are a little in the higher side, basically $6.85 for a flavored latte. I get a vanilla latte for $5.75 which is super good in this economy . The only thing I would say is there might be limited parking. I am unsure how I had never heard of Coffee Commissary before randomly stumbled into this location on my way to The Getty. They are, without a doubt, one of the best coffee shops in LA. The space is minimalist and chic, with beautiful pink accents. Their beans are thoughtfully sourced, and roasted right here in LA for over 10 years now. They are LA natives, with 7 locations throughout the city. The cute aesthetic menu offered every classic espresso drink I could hope to find, but I opted for their "Cubano", which features cinnamon syrup. It was exceptional. I got it with oat milk, which added just enough creaminess to compliment the rich, bold espresso and warming spices. The effortlessly perfect latte art was an additional bonus. The barista was genuinely friendly, asking about my day with great energy. She recommended the Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie, which was one of the best cookies I've had in a long time.
