This was my first time at a Quills Coffeehouse! This J Town location was surprisingly a lot more spacious than I anticipated. It had a lot of space on the first floor and an upstairs to grab a coffee, chat or do work. The ladies who worked there were great, coffee came out quickly and overall it was a good experience. The J-town Quill's is a lovely location, perhaps my favorite in town. It's a renovated old bank with tall ceilings and lots of natural light. The upstairs has a cozy study area with plenty of seating. Downstairs you can plug-in right at the front window, studying/working while watching the town square activity. Nice looking establishment. Terrible execution on cortados. First time I ever had one here and it was great, what I was expecting. After that, I never saw that barista make my cortado again and each time it was someone different, who made it poorly and one of them even gave it to me without a lid. Tastes like day old Folgers coffee. Inconsistent. It's a shame, this coffee place was promising for me as my daily stop in because of its proximity to me. For those that remember this used to be a bank building years ago. Now it's a Quills Coffee shop with high ceilings and ample space to sit and relax with a cup of coffee or tea. As far as ambience this location is the best I believe. The service was pleasant and the coffee was piping hot and tasty. There is street parking on a diagonal in front of the building but do be aware that backing out when traffic is heavy can be tricky. This may be the newest Quills that has recently opened as you won't find it on TripAdvisor yet. Thank goodness Yelp is much more up to date. read more

I needed a place to work while visiting from out of state. Quills was the perfect location conducive for Zoom meetings, phone calls, and quiet work. The hot Americana and Cold Brew were outstanding, as well. The unique ambience of an old bank building and the courteous staff topped off a pleasant experience. So, so happy that this location finally opened!! Love that it's so spacious and such a great location. I finally got to stop by to pick up a drink and was sad to learn that no modifications can be made to the seasonal drinks. Not sure why as the Baxter location let me change the oat milk to reg whole milk for the horchata latte (SO much better!!) but the barista told me that they had a meeting abt it and that was the decision ‍ i ordered an espresso old fashioned and it was just ok- ended up added half & half but wish I could've gotten a horchata whole milk latte instead! Wish they also had a stopper bc i'd gotten 2 additional drips that spilled a bit as I walked from the counter to the door. Also, I am all about being environmentally friendly but paper straws are such a miss. They end up melting(?) within an hour and rly wish they had environmentally friendly straws like the ones that doesn't melt (at Full Stop)! I am not a coffee aficionado by any stretch, I like sweetened drinks, especially cold ones. While looking at the menu I was asked to be helped, I stated I like Frappuccino type drinks, do you have anything like that. I got a no, not doing blended drinks, so I said none for me. My wife got a coffee from the place across the street already, so we opted to try some blueberry muffins to go. At $4 each, I was expecting something great. What I got were 4 dry, almost stale lumps of bread, with a scant amount of blueberries. That was the report from my wife and 2 adult children. Mine was ok towards the middle where all the blueberries congregated, but at $4 each, i expected better. I attempted to call the store, but there is not a number listed. Calls to another store directed you to dial an extension for that location, but it only gives you the address. I sent an email, but so far has been unanswered. If those are made in-house, I think they may need to rework the recipe. If they are brought in, a change of vendor might be in order. Kind of a lengthy review of a coffee house in which no coffee was purchesed, but it is how it happened. read more
